Exporting to FLV with trasparent background

Hello all,
I am finding myself in a bit of a delema...I have hundreds of little movie clips with trasparent backgrounds that need to be exported as FLV's.  From my experience (or lack there of) and knowledge, to find the best export settings to create a FLV that looks good with the lowest file size comes down to the good old trial and error method.  I've tried numerous different settings and to be quite honest, I can't really tell that big of a difference in the video when it's be exported at 200 kbps compared to 600 kbps.  Maybe I'm blind.  But, I do notice the size of the file(s) go up quite a bit.
The quesions are...
1. When exporting to FLV's with transparentcys, is it worth it to crop the frame size?  I've tried this a few different times and in fact noticed the file size go up after cropping the frame size.  One would think that the a file that is "smaller" in dimensions would be smaller in size.  Although, I guess it's more about the information being translated in the video.
2. Is there a trick to this exporting to FLV beast?
Thanks in advance!

I'm kind of wondering if it might be better to just include the backgrounds into the videos and export them as H.264
That would be an option. It really depends on what the page looks like that you'd be embedding these into. That's the nice thing about the transparency--you only really have to be concerned with the foreground. But, if your page is something simple, like a solid color, you'd probably get the same visual result by putting a color solid behind your keyed subject in Premiere, and exporting to a non-alpha clip, like an H.264 MP4.
do you know if you can dynamically load H.264 into a swf?
Umm... no I'm just a measly video guy
Seriously, though, you may want to have a look at F4V; that will probably do exactly what you need, as it's H.264 compressed video in an Adobe-ized container format. It's available in the FLV/F4V options you've been working with. Just note that, since it's H.264, it does not support an alpha channel.
Or, could I export to H.264, import the H.264 file back into Premiere and re-export as a flv?  I assume I'd still be stuck in the same position at the end of all of that though...
Worse You'll have applied a second round of compression rather needlessly. You can use some third-party trickery to rewrap an H.264 stream into an FLV--I've actually done this before for HTTP pseudo-streaming web videos--but you still won't have alpha.
I think this is just a matter of deciding how you want to fit the videos into the rest of the design. If it were me, and I had the flexibility, e.g. a solid background, I'd forgo FLV and use H.264 in an MP4 container or F4V instead.

  • How can I export a file with transparent background?

    Hi all,
I know InDesign doesn't allow to export a PNG file, but I need my file to be in image file format with transparent background.
I'm still learning so I am stuck here. How can I export a file with transparent background?

If you can't get the PNG file export to work, you can export a pdf and open it in Photoshop, from there you can save it as whatever you like.

the jpeg format looks great with no damage to the graphic at all but I can't have transparent background, although I changed the canvas fill to none. the png-8 format can apply transparent background, but damages the graphic.

  • Save a video with trasparent background

is there a way in after effects to save a video with trasparent background? i know that only mov and avi supports it...
but how can i do this in AE?

im following some video on YT but everyone say
    create new composition
    write something on the screen
render the video using alpha + rgb but they don't show results...
if i remove the background deactivating the transparent grid, when i render the video if i open it i will have always my background... even if i choose another BG colour if i render following these tutorials i will see always my background...
can someone post here a guide or write a little guide on how to write something on a trasparent layer that will be saved on a trasparent layer?

  • CS4 export to.flv with Alpha dimensions problem?

    Hi-
I am exporting an actress from a greenscreen shoot (original file 1920x1080p) That I want to put on a webpage.
She is keyed well and I have got to the export stage.
I have exported to flv. with alpha at various 16;9 dimensions (640x480etc) and that all works fine in Flash.
However, the actress is in the middle of the frame and the transparency is all around. Can I make the window size square? 360x360?
Therefor, cutting out some of the 'transparent' space either size and then ending up with a 360x360 file?
    thanks
    scott

    Scott,
I do not have CS4, but believe that you can Crop your Export with FLV and the positioning should be centered. Remember, this is an assumption on my part.
    Good luck,

  • Export Flash Video With Transparent Background

Is it possible to export an After Effects Comp to a Flash Video with a transparent background?
I have made a simple animation with no background. I'd like to export the Flash Video to go on a web site. I'd like to keep the background transparent.
Can this be done, and is there a checklist of what I need to select in "Make Movie"?
    Thanks!

from "Render and export a composition as an FLV or F4V file":
"To include the alpha channel in the FLV output, use the On2 VP6 codec and select Encode Alpha Channel in the Video tab of the export settings dialog box."

  • How to export animated gif with transparent background and glow effect?

I've been having issues lately with creating animated gifs in flash. I finally figured out a way to export a gif with a transparent background but I'm now having an issue with it again because I'm using a glow effect. When the gif is exported the glow effect changes into a very poor quality and becomes less of a glow and more like a solid color. I've even exported a png sequence from flash and put it into photoshop then created a gif from there but I'm still having the same issue. Is there anyway I can properly export this in gif form so the quality is the same as when I test it in flash?
I've provided an image of what my issue looks like and the settings (I've messed around with the settings and this is the best I can come up with) . This is in photoshop but the result is similar in flash. The left one is what it originally looks like and the right is what it will look like after exporting. As you can see as I said before the glow changes into more of a solid color kind of like a border. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

A GIF is limited to 256 colors while a glow effect likely wants to tie up thousands (let's just say 'lots') of variations of tone.

  • Export locally png with transparent background

Is it possible to use Ps touch to remove the background from jpeg images and  export them locally as png with transparent background (reducing the size of the picture)? I would need to use this feature to create more keynotetouch-friendly images.

Yes. That's possible. You can export a PSTouch project as png to the Camera Roll....and there are other channels as well where this is possible, like  "Share By E-mail" , "Send to iTunes" etc.
Those options are accesible via the Share  menu (see attached screenshot) as part of the PSTouch project organizer

  • H.264 export video artifacts with regular background pattern

I'm generally very pleased with the flexibility and quality of the H.264 video encoder provided by Premiere Pro.
However, I have one scene, with a graph-paper-like background that generates video artifacts when zooming in and out, no matter how high I set the bitrate.
I'm including two images created by grabbing frames from the exported movie from Quick Time Player.  The first shows the scene without artifacts (at the end when the
zooming is over) while the second shows the effect when I'm zooming in on the scene.  As you can see, the artifacts consist of graying out of the black lines and appearance of some "tick" lines along the lines, which I assume is due to the compression algorithm used by the codec.   Does anyone have experience with such problems and can suggest a way to avoid this? It's a relatively short segment of the video that is effected.
    Thanks in advance!

Hmmm... the second file ppVideoArtifactOn.jpg appears by name in the original posting after the first, visible image.  I'm not sure why it's not showing up, but I'll include it here again:

  • How to change file type when exporting a report with a background job

    Hi,
I've set up a background job in SM36 to execute a SAP Query I've created, set to send the results as a file to an external email address. When it arrives the file is a .htm (and it seems to cut out after a few pages of data), but I'd like it to export as a .xls, .txt or .csv.
I've checked the job, the query and my user settings, but I can't find where the change the file extension used - can anyone please tell me how to do it?

  • Having issues exporting to .FLV with QT conversion

Hi, my client needs an FLV file at 221x165pixels for his website.
i have had no trouble in the past creating FLV files using the QT conversion method, but at this size the file plays flipped diaganolly, with a diaganol line through the picture.
any ideas of what im doing wrong?
    cheers

A 221x165 raster is the wrong aspect ratio, and it isn't an integer divisor of anything. Explain to your client that video doesn't work that way.

  • Export white gif with transparent background

    Hi,
I suppose this is a bug, or has anybody an idea: I have a transparent canvas and a white drawing. Very simple thing. Now I want to export this as a gif, just like it is: transparent background, white drawing. But this seems to be impossible. I can choose any of the available settings in export dialog (no transparence, index-transparency, alpha-transparency), Fireworks will never export the image correctly. Either I have a total white or a total transparent gif, I even got a white drawing on black background (but can't reproduce it).
    System: Mac, Fireworks CS5
    Thank you, Michael

Set the Transparency type to Alpha when you export.

  • Title with transparent background for FCE

I want to place my titles over photos and I can't figure out how to export/save them with no background. When I searched the topic someone suggested un-checking "Render Background" in the file requester when you export your LiveType movie. Now for some reason it is not giving me the option to 'Export Movie', only to 'Export Frame'. What's up?

Live Type needs to Render the Movie, (cmd-R) before you can export the movie.
Although when you render the movie it gets exported as a .mov in the animation codec which has the alpha channel that allows you to place your titles over photos.
Of course once you render your movie you can export it in another codec if you like., but you don't really need to for FCE.
You do need to make sure that you don't render the background though

  • Export to png with transparancy

    hey, can this be done?
export to png with transparent background
even setting the background of the slide to "none" doesn't work
if you can't achieve this, does anyone have any ideas how I could do a workaround?
    cheers, D

Ahh, I read this and thought you required the export. You essentially want to take an image from Keynote into some other application WITH transparency, correct? If so, you may want to take a look at Skitch.
http://www.plasq.com/skitch -currently in public beta as a free download
You could copy the items as you're currently doing, then open Skitch and paste them in. Your objects will appear with a white background. Next, click the color well at the bottom of the colors on the right hand side in order to bring up the color palette. Change the opacity to Zero, then hold down Shift, while clicking in the color well. The background is dropped out and you have full transparency. You can even use Skitch to resize the image to exactly the size you want it to be. Click and drag the tab and to export at that size.

  • Bug: Export to QT with a looping video inside

    Hi,
I posted on this exact same problem about a year ago for Keynote 2.x (or was it 1.x ?). The problem (feature, bug?) was and still is:
I have a self running Keynote presentation (3.0.1). Inside this presentation are in some places looping QT movies. When I export the entire presentation to QT, the looping videos inside only run once (i.e. do not loop).
As this did not get fixed in 3.0, either:
    a) this is a feature, not a bug
    b) no one from apple reads this list
    Regards,
    Gert

Welcome back to the discussions, Gert.
    a) it's not a feature or a bug.
When you export to QuickTime, you are taking all of the media and laying it out linearly. Since a loop isn't linear (start, play, end, back to beginning, play, end, etc), it gets removed.
COULD Apple do this? Yes, but it would also mean that the exported movie would now be in an extra number of files and past experience indicates that this might be more confusing to the consumer (export a presentation with a background movie track and you'll see a "soundtrack" file).
    b) well someone has to read and moderate it to make sure we're not getting out of line, but this is a user to user discussion board first and foremost.
