Exporting to HTML still no good?

I have a simple slide show (no video or sound) for which I have added controls: (forward, back, home) to each slide assigning hyperlinks to my own graphic symbols to advance the slides. Sticking within Keynote, the presentation with its manual controls works fine, but if exported to HTML for inclusion on a web site, the controls fail to work and the presentation falters. Examining HTML code made by the exporting process shows no references to the hyperlinks so I would expect it to not work properly. Is this problem still unsolved? (Exporting with "Include navigation controls" checked in the export window does generate working hyperlink controls but they are in addition to the desired and non-working ones and are placed beneath the slides. The html code clearly does reference them.)
Any information will be appreciated.

I have no solution as yet except for adding my own (hand coded) html for the hyperlinks I originally made. I placed my hand coded hyperlinks (positioned them) on the slides using CSS. This is a somewhat tedious process. I would hope that Keynote itself could generate my custom hyperlinks when the presentation was exported to html, but it doesn't. Surely others have noticed this deficiency(?). Perhaps very few users ever expect to place their presentations on the web.
To repeat, the custom hyperlinks work perfectly within Keynote itself (as a stand-alone presentation). It's the exporting that destroys the functionality of the custom-designed and specially placed hyperlinks.

  • Is there a version of Pages that does an OUTSTANDING job of exporting to HTML...yet?

I stopped using Pages 1.0.2 all together and went back to using AppleWorks because Pages could not export to HTML (even though it claimed to be able to).
I'm so close to being forced to buy a new computer, as my little PowerBook G4 12" (that I love and still works great) cannot have any more RAM added (and I need it), is no longer supported by so much.  I am not going down until my little ship almost goes down.  I have a big AppleWorks document that must not go down with it.
It's a book manuscript and it must be able to be formated into HTML.
What's the latest news on Pages functionality where HTML is concerned.  Also, how is the PDF export working?
What version of Pages does what I will need to do: HTML export perfectly AND create a PDF file perfectly?
    Thanks.

    Suz

Well, not requiring a third party (like for getting a song on iTunes) is good.  But...
An ISBN numbers for the book you want to sell          (no problem)
The ability to deliver the book in ePub format          (this is NOT good for the Indie author who writes a great book because now it can be stolen in outer Mongolia and resold on Amazon...which offers DRM...under a new name)
The book pass EpubCheck 1.0.5       (this would be no problem)
A US Tax ID (Non US are out of luck for now)        (no problem)
An iTunes account backed up by a credit card       (no problem)
An idea of where you’ll sell and how much you’ll sell for       (no problem)
An Intel-based Mac running OS 10.5 or better (PC users are SOL) ..........(ah...now I, and many others,  have an enormous PROBLEM...because...I would need to buy a whole new computer that won't even have the capacity to offer me an APPLE word processing program that will do all the things I need to do...many of which requires me to have the ability to export what I write into HTML!!!!  So why bother spending all THAT kind of money when I can spend an actual fraction of the amount to buy a souped up Acer with loads of memory and preinstalled Word so that I can sell from Amazon, which has an enormous customer base.  With all the money I'd be saving on the brand new Mac that I didn't actually NEED anyway, I can buy the Word!  See!  Maybe it really is a PC world and Apple jumped off the boat by not offering a word processing program that is compareable to Microsoft Word to Mac users...and by making it impossible for PC users to utilize iBooks...and by sort of ticking off Indie authors with common sense who do NOT want their independently published ebooks cannibalized via ePub, which is like saying: Here...read my book and pass it all around the world FREE so that someone else in some foreign land can get their hands on it and sell it on Amazon!  WhatEVER.)

  • Exporting to HTML is yuck!

    Greetings all,
For giggles, I thought I would test out Adobe InDesign's HTML export option. This document is a short 12 page guide that makes use of a large number of graphic elements so my expectations were low, that it would render with an acceptable appearance.
Good thing that my expectations were low because the output was terrible! I attempted difference options... default options broke most of the graphics components out into separate parts... so 12 pages became about 20. Using the "Preserve appearance from layout" helped a lot but it rendered the pages as whole .png images (hardly HTML); even so, their were still a number of other broken parts.
Thankfully, this document was intended as a printed document. But I am wondering if anyone has taken a fairly advanced [graphically] InDesign document and successfully produced an acceptable HTML (5?) output?
BTW, it seems odd that Adobe's forum spell checker thinks that "InDesign" is not a valid word.

    Hi,
Thanks for trying out html export from InDesign. I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with html export.
To start with, I have tried to answer your queries below:
The font is universally wrong and defaulted to Times Roman (but that is correctable in the css).
With which type of fonts you actually faced this issue?  Can you name a few fonts which are not correctly being referenced in the CSS?
All font attributes are stripped (bold, etc.).
font-weight:bold property must be present in the CSS. Can you post a snapshot of the CSS here?
The InDesign drawn [rounded corner] boxes are completely missing (a few dozen).
We actually skip empty splines of InDesign native objects on export. If you wish to include them, you will have to rasterise them. Select the object and open Object Export Options dialog. Select Custom Rasterisation and click on Done. Now if you will export to HTML, the items will be included which are set to rasterise.
All the distinct pages are gone and everything was placed into a continuous single page. And the top/bottom page borders are missing.
All the items are emitted as part of single html file, there is no concept of splitting into multiple html files in html export.
Images placed horizontally are now vertically placed.
I am not very clear about this point. Could you please attach a screenshot to show this issue?
A section depicts a network device (a .png graphic insert) with network cables (made with InDesign drawing tools). The network cables are missing (same as boxes - mentioned above).
    Same explanation as in point-3.
    Regards,
    Pooja

  • How to get custom formating to show in export as HTML CS4

Using a copy of CS4, I am exporting an indesign document that has custom formated words. That is some words are italicized and don't conform to the paragraph style (I have to do this as I get all my documents from Microsoft Word Files). The italicized text shows up as a paragraph style such as "BodyText+" where the normal text is "BodyText". Manually applying a character style to all the italicized text would be impossible.
How can I export as html in this case? Is there a way to format all BodyText+ with a special character style?

Well I guess the find/replace all seems to have set the character styles in the InDesign document, but, it makes no difference in the html output
    It still looks like <p class="body-bodytext">nonitalics italics</p>.
Does anybody know how to make it do something like this:
    <p class="body-bodytext">nonitalics <span ="italics_character_style"> italics</span></p> ?
I can write the post processing stuff as long as it somehow notes the difference

Palo Alto Joins the Ban Against
             Non-Recyclable Materials
This Spring, Palo Alto joined the list of more than 30 cities and counties in California who are making good on their efforts toward reducing their greenhouse gas emissions
by enacting partial or comprehensive bans on polystyrene (PS) foam and/or non-recyclable disposable foodservice containers. Around the same time, a California statewide ban on the use of PS containers was tabled before reaching the State Assembly floor. Representative
Jerry Hill, one of AB 1358’s sponsors, pulled the bill due
to concerns addressed in the Appropriations committee hearing of the bill, regarding the fiscal impacts which
were not addressed in bill’s contents.
Largely represented by the California Restaurant Association, opponents of AB 1358 lobbied legislative representatives and argued there would be a negative fiscal impact on struggling restaurant owners and their customers in order to accommodate the more expensive alternatives to PS containers.     There are the unquantifiable and “hidden” costs of contaminating our bodies and environment which would far surpass the fiscal impact on the plastics, restaurants and consumer industries. Studies published by the Foundation for Advancements in Science and Education have indicated that varying levels of styrene residues
are present in 100% of all human fat tissue in the
United States, as PS products are found to lose weight after in contact with hot or fatty/acidic foods and liquids, causing migration of the styrene into the food or fluid, ending up in the human body. On the high end, the levels were “one third of levels known to cause neurotoxic symptoms”. In the environment,
PS is rarely recycled and does not biodegrade.     Supporting safer alternatives to polystyrene, in addition to the collection infrastructure and processing mechanisms for the compostable and recyclable products would help create more green jobs in the long run and would be a move in the right direction away from unnecessary harm

  • Could work an animated flash bitmap image exported in html 5, in DPS ?

I'm new in DPS, just started for a couple of weeks and I need to use a image in an animation.
I created the animation in inDesign exported in .fla, used de toolkit js, load it in a container with web content overlay, and when I preview it with Adobe Content Viewer it doesn't work, it apears a blank screen. Neighter of animation from that stage won't work.
To be very precise any animation works fine, when I test the html in a browser, the problem appears only in the content viewer.
The animation is very simple: smal logo entering in the stage from the right, not very complex.
I tried in flash with other images in a test file and loaded in inDesign, and still don't work. Other vector animation works well, no problem. I saw that if I have an image in library in flash and export a simple animation with a vector ball, won't work in indesign preview, with content viewer.
My question is, Could work an animated flash bitmap image exported in html 5, in DPS ?  If so, what should I need to do ?
    Thank you in advance.

Two possible solutions I was considering:
    1) In my index/first page, have all the swfs present (scaled to 1x1, behind something, or invisible) and have a preloader code on that first page... so all the content gets loaded before continuing onto the rest of the site.  That would certainly work in making the site run quick... but would mean a relatively lengthy wait at the start.  Luckily, unlike my current site, all the actual site content (aside from the header/nav interface) is HTML... so the bulk of the site's content is in the HTML pages, not as part of the Flash header... so it probably wouldn't be too horrific a wait.  However, it would be loading EIGHT of these swfs, since there are eight pages... so then maybe it would be....
    2) Have an swf that consists of just the 'draw up' of the interface, and it's idle state... then when each button is pressed, load a new swf to replace the main one, which has the specific page's animated title sequence, and ends with the code to load the html page.  So, each separate HTML page would have embedded into it only the main swf, and the title animation swf would be swapped in when a nav button is pressed.  Main issue here is each button press would envoke a preloader sequence (kind of tedious)... and unfortunately all the 'main interface' elements loaded in with the main swf would have to be loaded in again at the start of each animated title swf (although none of the draw up... just the loading of the interface and buttons).  For highspeed users, it should be okay, I guess....
    Thoughts or better ideas?

  • Image hyperlinks are lost upon export to HTML

    Hi,
I have many documents I need to convert to HTML.  I need the images in the documents to be links.  This has worked fine, according to normal procedures if the images are png, jpg, or gifs.  However, most of my images are not those formats.  So if I have an eps, pdf, and tiff in my document, upon html export, there is no hyperlink.  That is, the <a href></a> tags are not in the HTML at all.  But if I convert the images to png, jpeg, or gifs, put them in my document, then choose that file format for conversion, the links work fine.
I want to say there is an issue with the link tags upon file conversion.  It could be something else, but I am not sure why it works for certain file formats and not others.  I figured ID would keep the association with the hyperling after converting an image from say and eps to jpg.  If anyone knows what if going on, that would be most helpful, or if anyone knew of a good way to keep hyperlinks for images after exporting to HTML, I would greatly appreciate it.
(I can obviously add the link tags myself in the HTML, or convert the images myself and put them in the docs, but I have many documents and would like some automated way.)
    Thanks for the help!

Might help if you told us what version of InDesign you're using.

  • Acrobat X combines several images into one when exporting to HTML

I'm trying to export a PDF that contains a table of text and images to HTML. When I do, Acrobat correctly places the text in an HTML table. The individual images, however, are combined into a single image and appear outside the table. Here's a sample PDF.
The images in the PDF are simple sparklines. They're generated in Excel 2011 (Mac). Excel, bless it, can't export sparklines to HTML on its own. So I'm exporting to PDF instead. When I open the PDF in Acrobat, I can select and manipulate the images individually, so I don't think they're already combined before the PDF>HTML export. They are afterwards, though. Since the total number of rows that need to be exported to HTML is about 2,000, exporting the images from Acrobat individually isn't a working solution.
The image that Acrobat exports doesn't even look that great, but a working export would put me miles ahead of where I am now. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Generic advice, which has been true ever since Acrobat 1.0. The fact that you can convert X to PDF, and PDF to Y, does not mean that this is ever a good way to convert X to Y. Too much information is lost at each stage.

  • Can't select text when export in HTML and Images

I am entirely new to Fireworks and I can't find anyone to teach me Adobe Fireworks. I followed some youtube tutorials but most of them are vague. I am still figuring the way to export from Fireworks to Dreamweaver, without affecting its contents like bitmap images and the text. When I export in HTML and Images format and opened the htm file, I can't select the text I've inserted in Fireworks. Can anyone tell me what I should do?

I cant scroll below or above viewable section of text in any of my Macbooks, iMac, Mac Mini. Never have been able to, never could, except by pressing the arrow keys whilst selecting, to move up or down.
    Its stupid
I dont have flash installed (never will do since my first virus of video ad sound running in background from Cnet was downloaded and kept returning until i deinstalled flash).
I believe that this is a universal issue because none of my Macs can scroll out of screen when selecting text, which as a webmaster and developer, is a pain in the butt
My issue is not in word documents, its in everything

  • Can't export as Html (Waiting for all files to be ready...)

Made a bunch of updates last night to a client site.  Everything looks great except I can't export as Html. Had my sister try to export on her computer and we both get to 87%, then it permanently stalls, saying "Waiting for all files to be ready" (See screenshots). We've ensured that no files are open or being previewed. We've rebooted and tried saving to a different location, all with no change, we still get to the 87% mark and stop. Please help. I have a client waiting for this site update.
    Details:
    Windows 7
    Sony Vaio
Muse Version - 4.1 Build 8 *see screenshot
    ****Update:
I can preview the entire site in a browser as well as preview each page individually, but cannot finish a html export past 87%.

Odd are if you wait long enough, potentially a few hours, it will complete.
This huge performance hit sounds exactly like a bug that's fixed for the Muse CC 5.0 release due out next week. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hi all
Just trying to create a test website using Muse 3.2
But after creating some 3/4 pages i've tried to Export to HTML... but it asked for Domain name for export...
What if I don't have a Domain name with me right now??? or client havent decided yet for any Domain name?
I know its asking Domain name for creating Typekit Fonts & SEO Sitemap.xml.
But what if i use a dummy Domain name like "www.1.com" etc to export?? & try to test it on my PC? or upload it to any other location is there any problem?
    pls help

Don't be confused by the same names; there are 2 Justin's in this thread.
I'm sorry you took my post as an attack on the Adobe staff.  I was not passing judgement on the questions the staff asked, or the lack of additional staff response when they went unanswered.
Rather, I was expressing surprise/disappointment that the COMMUNITY did not provide any additional comments in a whole year.
It turns out there a several other threads (which is where I got the clue about the issue that I was having).
BTW, in my case I did move the images to the assets folder, and re-linked them.  However, I guess Muse keep track of the fact they were in the images folder originally and consequently did not subsequently export them.
I would think an option for a fresh/full export (as is provided for the FTP) would be a good enhancement to Muse.

Word Processing documents can be opened directly in Pages 4 (AppleWorks 6 only) but this is no longer available from Apple - the new Pages 5 (Mavericks required) does not open AppleWorks documents. (The older version is contained in the iWork '09 box set which may still be available from Amazon and other independent retailers.) Panergy Software's docXConverter v3.2 ($19.95) can convert Appleworks 5 and 6 Word Processing documents to RTF (though it has been reported that it can only handle documents which contain only text, not those which include images or frames). The latest version of the free LibreOffice has announced that it can open AppleWorks 6 Word Processing documents and an ability to open ClarisWorks documents has been reported: it does appear to be able to handle at least some embedded images.
Draw Documents can be opened directly only in EazyDraw (the more expensive version from their website, not the cheaper one from the Mac App Store, and you will need v4.0 'Retro' not the most recent version) or Intaglio (though this appears not to be able to handle very complex drawings). LibreOffice will open simple Draw documents but I found it very unreliable with complex ones.
Spreadsheets can be opened directly only in the older versions of  Numbers - the new version for Mavericks will not do this. The old version is no longer available from Apple. (Again, the older version is contained in the iWork '09 box set which may still be available from Amazon and other independent retailers.)
Presentations can be opened directly only in the older versions Keynote; again, the new version for Mavericks will not do this. The old version is no longer available from Apple. (The older version is contained in the iWork '09 box set which may still be available from Amazon and other independent retailers.)
Nothing will open Database documents. You would need to export the data as ASCII and import it into another database program; you will lose your formatting and calculations will come over as the result, not the calculation.

    Good afternoon,
I'm relatively new to Muse and I'm evaluation whether to purchase a subscription, but this problem has got me very frustrated. I have very large gaps appearing between content in my designs, causing the site to look terrible and not anywhere near how it looks in Muse.
I have seen this error reported on the forums earlier, and I have checked and can't see any "hidden text boxes" or "0 wide content" causing this bug. Please look at my screenshots for an explanation of the problem.
