EXPORTING TO INTERNET

I am working on a DV project that needs to be put online, but for some reason, I can't get it right. I looke dup this topic, but there was nothing specific to answer my question....
It's a 5 minute video , 4:3, mono sound that needs to be just less than 10 megabytes at 320x240. We are trying to use the H.254 compresser, but some people have had issues with opening the video and the quality is not that great. Sorenenson 3 makes the files too big. I tried usuing COmpressor, but the files were way to big for quicktime files. Any help?
One other thing, what should an proper but rate be for this type of file?
FCP 4.5, G5 Dual 2.5, COmpresser 1.2.1 Qt 7.0.4, 2.5 gig Ram, OS 10.3.8

I know it was only a typo but I loved it. I'm going to add that to the standard questions I ask of my clients; "What butt rate do you need for your server?"
On a serious note, if you have flip4mac or Popwire, you could export as WMV which usually makes Windows users happy. I uploaded a 67mb WMV file (program length: 28 minutes 30 sec) to my iDisk last night. Took about 18 minutes to upload and about 3 or 4 minutes to download on a broadband (cable) connection.
MPEG-1 will allow for 2 things: small files sizes and low quality. You can reduce the file size for just about any codec if you reduce the resolution and/or the frame rate. You just have to decide which is more important - quality or size.

Exporting for internet upload and email

Hi,I have a 4minute clip which I want to export from final cut in 2 different versions.
1. For emailing
2. For uploading to internet (myspace,you tube etc...)
Can anyone advice me on the best settings i can use?

Most email servers/hosts will have a 10mb limit on attachments. Four minutes squeezed down to 10mb ain't gonna be pretty.
YouTube takes whatever you send them and automatically encodes it to Flash (with a 100mb limit).
You're best bet would be to upload to an FTP server, then email a link to the site so that others can download it. That way you can keep it at a reasonable quality.

My business is all related to internet videos. I have finished my first practice video in Final Cut Pro X but the file size is 878.8 MB. That is a very large file for a 2 minute video. With a upload time of over 5 hours.
I have tried all the export opition built into Final Cut X but so far the smallest file size is still over 600 MB.
I know there must be some easy way to do this but I am unable to find it.

Here's what I think I know: h.264 is a scalable distribution/playback codec with the idea that we create a single, high quality file and let the playback device scale it. The same 500 meg file will look its best on a 30" Apple Cinema and an iPod. Seems appealingly plausible but possibly wasteful.

Unable To Export Using Internet Explorer 9 or Higher

My issue is this:
I have a reportserver on an intranet which users have been using quite happily under IE 8, beacuse of legacy systems we are far from early adopters. I now have some users who have moved to IE 9, however they can now no longer export reports. They render
perfectly on screen, but the export results in a blank new window.
When I replicate this I see:

I have tried all available formats and I get the same result.
The setup is SQL server standard edition 2008 R2 SP2. We do not use sharepoint.
I have read various posts about SSL headers and saving encrypted content flags - however we do not SSL so this is not an issue - plus I have tried both changing the do not save encrypted content flag, and viewing the website in compatibility mode.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am using report manager and we are now viewing it through i.e 11 not 9. It's defaulting to compatibility mode 8.
My gut feeling is it has something to do with the web config file but to be frank I do not understand that side of things. I have turned on http logging and for the period where I ran and tried to export the report, the log is below:

Lose quality when export to internet

I created a slideshow in iPhoto vs iMovie to maintain the photo quality (or so I thought). I exported it large and uploaded it to YouTube. However I lost too much quality to be useful.
I exported it to .mov to Large size then opened it in iMovie. However, it lost the quality going into iMovie so I didn't even bother exporting it.
Please help. I'm creating a plant tour for my company.

so your photos were compressed in the process
and uploaded it to YouTube.
And then the compressed video was compressed again in this step too.
Export from iPhoto at the largest possible size, then try upload. But there is always an element of luck when you upload to YouTube or similar sites as you have no control over their compression routines.

Export for Internet

I can either export through FCP or compress in COMPRESSOR. I exported a QTMov through FCP that's 19gigs. Of course I can't send that through dropbox without the people freaking out.
What settings do I use to get it a decent size and keep the gigs down? I have digital movies but they're in WMV and they're about 2gigs each.
Everything I try has a tendency to lose the widescreen aspect. Even when I click on Keep original aspect widescreen.

Export a QuickTime of your final sequence, without conversion and self-contained.
Take that exported movie into Compressor and use the pre-set for YouTube HD 720p and you should see a huge reduction in file size and the quality should hold up quite well.

I have some video I want to export to put online or on myspace. What are the best options to make it small but still retain quality as best as possible? Thanks.

Who is it for? If you know the target audience is up to date quicktime-wise the H264 codec produces some pretty amazing results given the file sizes. It is very slow to encode though. Otherwise you can't go wrong with Sorensen 3. Just turn keyframes off.

Vrf for Internet Access

Hello,
i'd like to configure a dedicated vrf for Internet access only. On my CE router i configured three vrf (Internet, red and blue) in the vrf internet i import the route target from blue and red, and the vrf blue and red i import only the default route. Everything is working fine, only one thing bothers me, i can ping from the vrf red destinations in the vrf blue and vice versa. How can i prevent this routing?

Given the FW is the next hop for the default route, the traffic from one vrf to the other goes through the FW and get routed back to the CE and then to the respective vrf router. You could add the rules on the FW to prevent
traffic being routed between FW.

Exporting WLM to Outlook 2010

Is there a way to export from WLM an email account to be imported into Outlook 2010 32bit? The WLM export function for email accounts only generates a .iaf file that is not recognized by Outlook 2010 no matter what sub-directory I place it in.

I have hundreds of bookmarkes. How do I copy them all at once to a folder?

I have assembled hundreds of bookmarks which are in various folders and now I'd like to copy them and paste them into a folder on my hard drive and then back them up. I can copy one at a time and do it but that will take for ever. Is there a way I can copy an entire folder and paste it or the individual bookmarks?

How do I view bookmarks from a saved profile from 7 months ago

I am missing some bookmarks. I must have accidentally deleted them some time ago. I have an old profile saved from 6-7 months ago that would have the missing bookmarks. How can I open one of the backup bookmarks files from the old profile or convert it to html?
I know how to export to html but that appears to not give me the option of selecting a specific file to convert. Conversion only converts existing bookmarks to html which will not help me, if I understand correctly what I have read. I know how to restore the bookmarks but my understanding is that they are then added to existing bookmarks. I don't want to do that because probably 95% of my current bookmarks are in the older much larger version I have saved in the old profile plus much more that I wanted to get rid of.
I was thinking of exporting to internet explorer, since I never use it and it has no bookmarks. I don't know how to select a specific bookmark file for export or if it is even possible to do that. If I can do that, however, I can search the bookmarks there for what I need and then add them back to FF.

Do you have an HTML backup of the bookmarks?
If you only have a backup of the entire profile folder then probably only the places.sqlite file in that backup has all bookmarks.
You can open a second Firefox instance with that saved profile folder at the same time and copy the wanted bookmarks to the <u>clipboard</u> in the Library in one instance and paste them in the Library in the other instance.<br />
You can select more than one item via the normal way (Shift click for a range or Ctrl click for individual items).
Create a shortcut with this command line to start a second Firefox instance with a path to a specific profile folder (in this case the backup).

You can use the Profile Manager to create a new profile and copy the places.sqlite file to that profile folder or import a JSON backup.

Multiple photo issues on Macbook that seem to revolve around iPhoto

Hi I'm having numerous problems when dealing with photo on my laptop and was wondering if anyone might know why.
Here's some info about my software, Max OS X version 10.5.8, Safari 5.0.1, iPhoto '08 version 7.1.5., and my Java software is up to date. I also just ran a software update before posting this and everything is up to date except the MacBook EFI Firmware Update, I haven't been able to complete that update, it fails every time.
So A while back I had a problem with my Macbook where it would not start up, so I took it to a Genius Bar and they archived my files and reinstalled my software and that fixed the problem. When I got back into my Mac I noticed all the software was in the original version so I had to updated everything which I did. However I started having problems when I did stuff with photos.
1. The first problem was uploading pictures to facebook. It was working (not perfectly because it could only handle me uploading 20 pictures or so at a time but still working) then it stopped. I deleted the facebook plugin in on my computer (like facebook told me finder>library>internet plugins>facebook plugin) so I could try to install it again hoping that would fix it, but I haven't been able to install it again because facebook never prompts me to install it again, and facebook still lets me go in and select photos to upload but it can't upload them. If I'm trying to upload photos either through the internet or exporting them to fb through iPhoto, it will let me select the photos but as soon as I click upload (or export) the internet or iPhoto will freeze then quit and I will get a notice telling me it failed because something went wrong with the plugin (screencap: http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg227/mandyb7/Picture22.png). I still no longer have the facebook plugin or the facebook iPhoto exporter app installed on my computer. It has been about a month now that I cannot add photos to albums on facebook. However the odd time I have been able to post a photo on my wall, in a message and upload a new profile picture. I can also upload photos to other places on the internet like photobucket, with the exception of twitter. With twitter I cannot upload a new profile picture, it tries and then gives me a page saying twitter is over capacity but apparently that has been happening to a lot of people so I'm not sure if it's related to my computer problems.
2. I cannot import photos from the internet to iPhoto. How I usually do it is ctrl + click and then selecting import to iPhoto and then iPhoto will open but I will get two notices telling me what went wrong.

However I can still save photos from the internet onto my Macbook through a different way like adding them to "my downloads".
3. iPhoto cannot export photos to another folder in places like documents and pictures. 4. I have a FujiFilm FinePix Z20fd camera with FinePixViewer software on my Macbook where I upload the pictures from my camera to. However since my computer was fixed at the genius bar I haven't been able to import any photos from my camera into the FinePixViewer, the program won't even open when I connect my camera to my laptop. In fact none of my photos that I used to have in FinePixViewer are displayed in there anymore, this is what my FinePixViewer now looks like: http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg227/mandyb7/Picture138.png
However the photos and videos are still in their folders in my documents, so I can still access them and haven't lost them. And I can import the photos from my camera into iPhoto.
(I was thinking of uninstalling the FinePixViewer software and then reinstalling it to see if that would help. That wouldn't affect the photos that are still in my documents that I originally imported through FinePixViewer would it?)
5. And the lasted problem I have discovered is that iMovie cannot generate thumbnails of iPhoto videos.
Does anyone know what could be causing these problem or how I can try to solve any of them? Should I take my Macbook back to the genius bar? Thanks!

3. iPhoto cannot export photos to another folder in places like documents and pictures. However if I try to export the same photo to the same place it will tell me that the image is already there and asks me if I want to replace it.
I think this is a bug in the design of the export feature. The problem might be that iPhoto initially sweeps up all your photos from various folders, and often they have similar names like 01.jpg or Mom.jpg, etc. then when it exports, all files are copied into a single folder, and it doesn't have the ability to rename files such as Mom-2.jpg. When I encountered this problem I would get about 90% of the photos exported and then a similar message.
There is then no way to tell what photos were not exported. You could do a sequential export but all the file names might be replaced with sequential numbering.
A possible workaround is to Ctrl click or right click the iPhoto library icon and select the third option: Show Package Contents. If you drag the Originals and Modified folders out of the package to another location, or to an external drive, it should move or copy all your pictures with their individual filenames but in inconvenient multiple dated folders.
It might be a good idea to backup the iPhoto library first as this might disable the iPhoto database, and in case you don't like the results. Also you should first move the old iPhoto library icon to its final storage place if you don't want to trash it, such as into a folder named old iPhoto library, becasue it won't move after pulling its files. If you want to keep using iPhoto as it is, you should just copy the above two folders and replace the originals where you found them.

FLASH and Co only via download?

hi friends
mostly I use my computer with my premiere elements 13 offline.
but when I try to make exports for the internet on this maschine,( my private website where I will show my hollidayvideos) I cant do th exports/publishings cause premiere
needs to go online. did I make mistakes while installing it? why cant export/publish -for example flash- in offline mode?
my idea was to take the footage from the camera, edit it, export it to my harddisk, and when I am back home, than I will load it up the my website. seems to be a nogo?
hope that there is a solution. if it is a feature, that premiere elements doesnt have all options and can only do the job when online with ADOBE, then I realy have a problem.
but I cant beleive that, ADOBE must tell this prior to sell to the customer if the product doesnt work in offline mode with all features.

today I will check the free flash konverter, but this file needs AVI!my weekend will become exciting....I am downloading some more free stuff.
and next time when I go to holliday maybe I take another option with my camera.I was so proud that this little thing does that realy good looking fullHDs, so I filmed the two months in Portuagal in this format.
and -by the way- the Toshiba TV of my doughter also doesnt play the clips from the cam!!
my Samsung and our Computers does!
and it realy lookes great 1920x1080 60p!
the sound from the cam is unusable, on the Algarve Cliffs there was a strong wind - I do the sound on my computer, ..

I see the menue-point to publish to an private website. I thought this would give me a file which I can upload with my upüload-tool for my website later and first check it offline.
but I cant export/publish or whatever, cause the prog always wants to connect to ADOBE.and -sometimes I am in my mobilhome or at home and there it collides with my firewall.it doesnt connect to youtube, ist ADOBE - I can see this!
I have lost the game, yes I was missinterpreting but now I am much more clever..;-)
so I must realy look for another software?
and: if a company says that their software supports AC3 - I must be aware and ask what they meanandif they say that they will support YOUTUBE publishing, than this might be that first ADOBE wants to see the clip.otherwise I dont unerstand why the connection doesnt direct to YOUTUBE but to ADOBE!
what ever I try the connection is always to ADOBE, everytime! (tried several times..and I can watch what the program does!) this is NOT a first time activation, looks like that they want give away the codec.
for 5.1 (AAC) your first help was sufficient, I could made the mp4 with a 6-channel AAC, but cant mix the channels in PREMIERE.
and I make the sound in channelorder for AC3 5.1, the channel with AAC are in different order as you know.so I cant use it....
its stripping down my too high expectations, PREMIERE Elements is just for cutting off the unwanted parts of a clip or doing some transitions or assemble some takes together - thats all.
this weekend I start testing VirtualDub and the other freeware programs. and I will write to see how VEGAS works.VirtualDub does cooperate with AFTEN - my AC3 encoder, anyway I am very sceptical, and there should be a programm called DIRECTOR anything, I have to search for this..they say it supports AC3 (hahaha) and exports for internet use...(LOL)
