Exporting to Media Encoder crashes Premiere Pro CC 2014

Greetings,
I am experiencing a problem with premiere off and on. Right now it is an on problem. When I am exporting from Premiere Pro CC (and CC 2014) it will intermittently crash Premiere. I have tried this with several different audio and video formats (AVI [Lagarith and uncompressed], WAV, H.264, MPG2, AAC, etc). At the moment, every time I go to export to queue it locks up and hangs on the "Preparing data for export..." Media Encoder Launches and then it just freezes. I get "Problem Even Name: AppHangB1" over and over. Sometimes a full restart will fix this temporarily and sometimes it goes away for a long while. I managed to get a few sequences exported and then it just kept freezing on every PP CC restart.
Here are my system specs:
Premiere Pro CC (up to date)
Win 7 64bit (up to date)
i7 970
24GB Ram
NVIDIA 470GTX (driver up to date)
3 x 1.5TB internal
4TB internal
3TB internal
12TB RAID 5 via USB 3.0
USB 2.0 and 3.0 drives
FireWire audio device (M-AUDIO FireWire1814)... although, I am not using it for playback. It is connected.
Footage is from C100 H.264 .MTS, H.264.mov from 7D, and H.264 .MOV from iPhone.
All stock video plugins with a few third party audio plugs.
This problem happens with and without third party plugs, but it happens that this project uses them.
I have chatted with Adobe help twice about the matter and nothing has come of it. Log out, log in = same. Restart = same (sometimes), create new user account = same, and so on. The only thing I haven't done is completely re-install premiere, which seems a bit overkill. One of the reps said he would get back to me in a few days after he watched the issue via screen share. Never heard back.
I get the sense that this has something to do with PProHeadless.exe not launching or not running properly. When the crash happens on a fresh restart of PP CC 2014 PProHeadless is not running. I can start PProHeadless and it will send sequence to media encoder. When I try to export another sequence from the same project it crashes and I see another instance of PProHeadless launched.
Also, once the projects are exported to Media Encoder, I can encode them to any format with no problem. The problem is getting the sequences there!
Is there anything that I am overlooking here?
Thanks for the help!

Hi
Premiere pro cc 2014  8.0.1 (21) build
Encoder CC 2014 8.0.1.48
I use CC for Teams so it updates all the time.
Again when I tried to use it today by letting premiere open it by sending an output into Queue it crashed both Encoder and Premiere.
In order to shut down Encoder and Premiere I had to go into Task Manager and "End Process Tree" on everything adobe I could find because just ending Encoder did not work it would not close. I remembered that years ago when Premiere would crash we had to end a photoshop process. I found photoshop open even though it was not "alive" on my task bar. I had used it yesterday but had closed it. I also had to close dynamiclinkmanager.exe *32 as well as one of the three Adobe CDF Helper.exe*32. They popped back on but Encode closed and then I got a message that Premiere needed to close and did when I clicked the button to let it close.
After all this I re-opened Encoder by itself and checked the Preferences finding that Import Sequences Natively option was again checked.
By the way for me, "Launch AME manually, then drag the sequence from PPro's Project panel to AME's Queue (or to a preset in the Preset Browser). That uses a different code path than the File>Export>Media workflow." won't work most of the time because I do live events of panel interviews that may run 2 or more hours. I need to break them down to chapters for the web
Also I know this isn't part of this problem but I and many others would still love dynamiclink to work to Encore because the DVD is not dead yet. The current work path is a drag.
Looks like some programers and engineers have some work to do.
Thanks
Dennis

  • Audio Gain Crash - Premiere Pro CC 2014

Working in Premiere Pro CC 2014 I'm experiencing an instant crash when using the Audio Gain function on a clip or any selection of multiple clips in a sequence.  The clip(s) in question come from a TASCAM DR-100 audio recorder I've used dozens of times without issue.
    ASUS G75
    Windows 7, 64-bit
    Intel i7-3630qm
    16GB RAM
    NVIDIA GTX-670MX

I found it strange that this was happening only on two of my sequences (timelines) in the project, while other sequences have no issue with Audio Gain.  It's either the sequence, or one-or-more clips—not Premiere, right?  First, I ran CCleaner and re-launched Premiere.  Clearing system crud with CCleaner seems to have aleviated the problem for *some* of the clips.  I could now perform Audio Gain functions on some of the clips.
So my next thought:  Clean the Media Cache in Premiere.  I tried that next.  When I re-launched Premiere and the conform process begain to do it's thing, building new files.  When it was done, ALL of my clips could be selected and Audio Gain performed.  SUCCESS!  The answer to Audio Gain crashing Premiere Pro, in my case, was to clean the media cache.
Interestingly, that's not the end of the story; there's still some funky issue with one single audio clip in this sequence.  But since the Audio Gain crash isn't happening anymore, I'll present the new issue in a new thread.

  • Rendering 10x slower with media encoder than Premiere pro direct export

We use CS5 (have been using Adobe since 2004). I open a sequence (edited in Premiere with no fancy effect - just open title & closing title - length 4 minutes). It is HDV so nothing special or out of the ordinary.
If I render the sequence by going to FILE => EXPORT => MEDIA and export this way it will take approx 1 minute to render the file.
If I close Premiere and open Media Encoder and import the same sequence and render with exactly the same settings, it will take 10 or 11 minutes to render.
I have tried most obvious areas such as closing all other programs and only opening media encoder, as well as making sure the RAM allocation is the same for media encoder, but nothing seems to make Media Encoder render at the same speed.
It doesn't matter what the video format is on input or export ... media encoder is always so much slower.
Why does Media Encoder take so much longer to render?

    Hello Jeff,
thank you very much for the speedy response! I am very impressed
Your reply pointed me in the correct direction. In my case I had ticked Maximum Render which made the encoding 10x slower. The deinterlacing doesn't affect the speed much on our set up.
Anyhow, I unticked the Maximum Render Quality and it is now at full speed again. Lovely!
    Thank you for your time.

  • Adobe Media Encoder for Premiere Pro CS4 stops working on the same frame every time...

I currently have Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and have never had these issues exporting before. My timeline is less than 3 minutes long, but it does deal with multiple big files. It rendered perfectly and it plays perfectly in the timeline. When I try to export it using Media Encoder, however, it freezes at the same frame every time (which is actually only a few seconds in!) and then crashes, so that I have to force quit. I have tried exporting it as many different codecs and the problem persists... same frame. I tried creating a new project entirely and whipping together a few titles and exporting that to see if it just won't export anything at all. The new project exported just fine, however, which I suppose is good news. But yeah, my work on that other project is very important to me and I reallllly want to export it. Please help!

Hi Jim! Thank you for your reply. I think you are right -- and that it lies in the audio somehow!
It turns out that if I choose to only export the video, and uncheck audio, it will export very well and smoothly. That's great news for me!
However, now I am trying to work out how to get the audio exported without issues. I actually had the idea of just playing the audio in the timeline and recording it via Stereo Mix, but my Windows 7 driver has Stereo Mix disabled, so it's back to square one. Any ideas of what I can do about the corrupted audio not exporting, which works fine when played in the timeline?

  • Using new Adove Media Encoder with Premiere pro cs4

I have Premiere Pro Cs4 and Design&Web premium CS6 -  which comes with Adobe Media Encoder cs6. Can I get Premiere Pro CS4 to use the new encoder (and hopefully speed up)?

I am on Window 7 32-bit that Premiere CS6 does not work. So I use CS4 for editing. For one specific project, I kept getting errors when using AME CS4 and it was extremely slow (8min of video estimated 20 hours). Someone said CS4 4.2 is really slow so I'd like to use AME CS6 to render project files from CS4. Tried that but got adobe dynamic link components error. I think it may be because I didn't include Premiere and After Effects when installing CS6.
Do you have success using AME CS6 on CS4 project file? Is it likely to make it work without installing CS6 one more time?
    Thanks,

  • I will pay for help, Media Encoder and Premiere Pro C4 won't work together

I know someone has two easy answers...help, help.
Big Problem one, exporting from Premiere C4, forced into using Media Encoder, which sit there and won't encode from the project/timeline.
The project is even small, 7 minutes, and I just want to me a AVI file and maybe Flash and Media Player.  Is that too much to ask.
Then the versioncue.dll, decide to not let me right click in explorer and other links, get a windows error, and again, stuck with nothing.
Please, I will send someone a gift card if they can help me, really. $25-$50...depending on if you have the solutions.

Stan, that's correct, however, it's a new computer now.  And yes, I want to
export to avi from the premiere time line.
One thing that is weird, I can add to Media Encoder only finished encoded
files, say to send to a client in a media player
or flash format, and all works well.  It's only the Premiere C4 project
    export????
Thanks for any help you may be able to give me.

  • Warp Stabilizer Constantly Crashing Premiere Pro CC 2014

I have never had an issue applying warp stabilizer to clips, now it constantly crashes my system during the analyze phase. Does not seem to be an issue with any other effects. Have the most current version of premiere CC 2014. Running Windows 8.1 Plenty of memory, etc. Has never been an issue, now it happens every time! Help!!

I am having similar issue - without the crashing. Any clips I use warp stabilizer on do not retain their render after I close the project.
What version of Premiere Pro? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Pro CS5.5 with the 5.5.2 update).   v8.0.1 (21) build  2014.0.1 release
Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.) Cloud says i'm up to date
What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".  Windows 8.1
What kind(s) of source footage? When telling about your source footage, tell us about the codecs, not just the container types. For example, "H.264 in a .mov container", not just "QuickTime".    mp4 from a gopro
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)? no error
What were you doing when the problem occurred?
Has this ever worked before? no
What other software are you running? Chrome
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed? No
Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU).  Dell latitude e7440 8gb ram, ssd
Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration? i dont think so
Does the problem only happen with your final output, with previews, or both?  clips do not stay rendered in timeline after saving/close a project and reopen

  • Cannot open project - instant crash Premiere Pro CC 2014.2

Hello all - I am having a really frustrating problem. It seems that at random somehow I have corrupt project files. I spent hours working on a project yesterday and saved at the end of the day. However when I come back to it I get the "project is damaged cannot be opened" message. I haven't done anything other than shut my computer down and back up again today. This message sometimes comes up, other times it's a straight crash when it tries to load my project, to the "windows is searching for solutions" message and grayed out windows.
    I have
AMD Radeon Card, drivers updated, openGL
    16GB ram
    2 TB drive
    core i7 4th gen
This seems to happen at random - at first I thought it was an issue of trying to open CC projects in CS6 (I have them both installed, to access older work).. but this project was pure CC from start to now.
    HELP

Just for anyone who might be in this situation - I found a partial solution, maybe...
In Windows Explorer, change the "open with" association for all CS6 projects to open with CC. I was able to pull up the project in a recovery "import into a new project" method after I set this association differently.
Still would like answers, though... or is this just me not paying attention to what version files are opening in given that I have both versions installed?

  • How do I export on Media Encoder CC and play on Premiere Pro CC without affecting the export?

I can export on media encoder and play on Premiere at the same time if I save my project > Close premiere pro > open Media encoder > import premiere pro sequence > start export > and open my project on premiere again.
But I`m having some issues with the playback quality (sometimes it stop and the audio starts getting out of sync), and the export gets slow.
Is there anything I can do to export and play at the same time?
I need the full quality of preview.
    Working with codecs XDCAM HD 422 and ProRes 422 on Mac Os X 10.7.5 (2 X 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon) wiht 24GB 1066 DDR3 RAM
    Hope u guys can help.

You can just queue up the export right from PP, start the encode and then go back to PP to continue working.  No need to close anything.
Doing this will slow down the export process, as PP will steal whatever resources it needs to run, often pausing AME to do so.

  • 'create multi-camera source sequence' crashes premiere pro

    Hi,
I use 'create multi-camera source sequence' to sync up 2nd system audio with DSLR footage.
If i select more than say 10 clips to sync with an audio file it will crash premiere pro CC 2014 50% of the time.
Does anyone else find this? is it naturally unstable?
    syncing by 'audio mixdown'
I'm on a new Mac Pro 6 core, 16gb RAM, Pegasus 2 RAID.
    Cheers

You can see a good tutorial on the entire process here - http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-premiere-pro-cc/multicamera-workflows-with-premiere-pro/
The help page also gives step by step - Adobe Premiere Pro Help | Multi-camera editing workflow.  I was talking about step 4. Create a multi-camera target sequence.

  • Premiere Pro CS5 - Media Encoder Crash when Exporting to MPEG-2

    System:
    Core i7 920 @ 3.8 Ghz
    Gigabyte X58A-UD3R
    12GB DDR3 1600
    External Sound Card - M-Audio ProFire 610
    OS Drive - 2x300GB WD Raptors - Raid 0
    Project Drives - 3x300 WD Raptor - Raid 0
    Video Card - Geforce GTX 285 1GB
Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and Media Encoder CS5 continually crashes or hangs every time I try to export to MPEG-2.  I can successfully render to every other codec without any issue, but need the MPEG-2 for an Adobe Encore Project.
The project is approximately 38 minutes long and contains AVI and MP4 files, all of which were ripped from DVDs as I'm producing a reel for a producer who provided his DVDs for me to rip and use as content.
    Possible issues:
    1.   Currently have Magic DVD Ripper and DVD Fab installed (codec conflicts?)
    2.   Originally ripped the DVDs at 630x360 (my mistake - hadn't really worked with a DVD ripper before and was the largest avi pre-set) and I'm exporting to MPEG-2 standard 720x480 Widescreen)  (I know I should've just ripped them as the original lossless MPEG-2 files - I'm a tool)
    2.   Blank space in the timline (there are a number of these)
I would like to get some input before I try to export to MPEG-2 again as I blew a capacitor on my old mother board (Gigabyte x58-ud3r) after I had gotten my computer to start rendering a MPEG-2 after about 50 tries to export/launch media encoder set on MPEG-2.  I just installed my new motherboard to replace it.  Clearly MPEG-2 taxes the system more so than any other codec (from what I can tell).  However, I thought the issue with the blank space/no media in the timeline was fixed with CS5.  I saw in a previous post that someone thought that ffdshow was conflicting with AME.  I don't have ffdshow, but I believe that's a ripper program like Magic and DVDFab.

I experienced this at one point.  Searching the WEB I saw suggestions that there was a problem with a recent version of Quicktime.  (I have no idea why the quicktime player would have an impact.)  However, reverting to an earlier version of Quicktime fixed the problem.  Search this board using quicktime as a search phase.  The quicktime web site allows you to download the earlier versions.  I'm not at my editing machine, but I believe that I am at version 7.5.2.

  • Media Encoder crashes when exporting from Premiere Pro

Media Encoder crashes when exporting from Premiere Pro. I am queueing multiple files for export and Media Encoder will crash. The computer system has 32GB of RAM and the videos export fine in Premiere, but that requires exporting each one individually. Each video file is being down converted and some can be quite long (upwards of 3-5 hours). Nothing else is running on the computer that would take up memory.
Any idea why Media Encoder will crash?

    Try turning off GPU acceleration.

  • Premiere Pro, Media Encoder Crashing When Exporting/Rendering

For the longest time if I ever tried to export or render a video longer than 5 minutes, my Premiere Pro or Media Encoder crashes. I don't know why but it is EXTREMELY irritating when attempting to make lengthened gaming videos. I have tried 15 different methods all online, to no avail. It always crashes around the 40% mark in Adobe Premiere and it isn't a corrupt project. I have literally tried everything to no avail and I finally decided I would turn here to ask for help. I reset the preferences, tried copying and pasting into a new sequence, tried reinstalling Premiere... the whole bit. Symptom: Every time I work on any project in Premiere Pro CC 2014 or try to render out in Premiere Pro CC 2014 or Media Encoder CC 2014, the software crashes after 2-3 minutes of use/rendering when the GPU is enabled in Premiere/Media Encoder, or after 5-10 minutes of use/rendering in software only mode.  The crash is a software crash, Windows continues to run fine.

Finally - I hope someone from Adobe reads this.  I have spent 2 nights on the phone with support.  The first night I got an over confident answer that it's a gpu driver issue, just go with software only (no luck - same crashes and different drivers aren't solving the problem).  Tonight I was hung up on "by accident" as the agent looked up my video card after waiting 15 minutes to talk to someone, only to be hung up on a second time while on hold after calling back and waiting 20 minutes (because I assume the Adobe call center closed). No message to say so, just hung up on. An overall very disappointing experience.
Thanks in advance to anyone with ideas on things to try,
    Cheers!

I am having a similar problem.
Premiere Pro CC 2014 suddenly decided to crash every time I export to either Adobe Media Encoder or within Premiere itself.
The encode will usually go for 5-10 minutes before the programs either spits out a "serious error has occurred" window, or it just sits there frozen until I force quit.
I did find a work-around for the moment. If I open AME and FILE > OPEN, select my project and then the sequence I want, AND put it in Software render mode, it will work.
My timeline is 2K, 58 minutes in 23.976
Only effects applied are Lumetri LUTs - no third party.
I've exported as recently as a week ago without issue.
Running OSX 9.5 on an X99 board
    3.75 GHz 8-core
    64GB 2400 MHz RAM
    EVGA Titan Black 6GB
Because I can get my renders out, I am not too concerned. Either there is something wonky with my timeline that screws with any graphics enabled rendering, or there is a bug that is have the same effect. I will try rendering on another of my edit bays that utilizes a GTX 580 that I KNOW works. The Titan is pretty new to my workflow.
Thanks Adobe, for checking this out.
