Exporting to MPEG 2 HD with Transport Stream, 1920x1080

Hi,
I am trying to export a Pr project to the following requested settings: MPEG 2 HD with Transport Stream, 1920x1080. From the Format I selected MPEG2. I also adjusted the frame under the video tab to 1920. However, I have a feeling that something is not right. Please help.

Hi Colin,
Is MPEG2 a HD setting?
Thanks,
Sam

  • How to Import a MPEG-3-ts (Transport Stream) into Final Cut Pro ?

    Hello All;
I just bought Final Cut Studio and I am trying to figure out how to import some video footage that I captured using ArcSoft's totalMedia software via a HD HomeRun High Definition TV decoder. I have verified that the video is being saved in MPEG-2 Transport Stream format but I've tried everything but still can't import it into Final Cut Pro. I've purchased the MPEG 2 Quicktime component but then realized that it doesn't work with Transport Streams. Then I downloaded MPEG StreamClip for Mac which does play the clips on a Mac but I need to obtain the codec so I can import them into Final Cut Pro. Any ideas would be hugely appreciated. Thanks. Tim

    I do:
"You need to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to an editable format, such as those found in Final Cut Pro's Easy Setup menu.
For HD, your best choice is ProRes, DVCPro HD or Apple Intermediate Codec."
    And so does Nick.

  • Audio missing while exporting  an MPEG 2 with Compressor

    Hello There
I exported a sequence from a video project in Final Cut Pro, using Compressor. While exporting an MPEG 2, I get no audio on the video file. What do I need to do so the Audio is embedded with in the MPEG 2 file?
    Thanks!

If you want to make a DVD-Video, then you'll need to import both files into DVD-SP for authoring.
If you want to make an MPEG-2 Program Stream or MPEG-2 Transport Stream, choose the appropriate DVD preset for your program length, duplicate the preset then alter the preset copy to make it produce a muxed (multiplexed) file.

  • Can't render muxed MPEG2 with transport stream selected

I'm trying to render an MPEG2 that has the audio integrated with the video (muxed). I was told to select the transport stream option, but when I do, Compressor shows the error icon-that little yellow triangle with the exclamation point. I don't know what it's trying to tell me is the problem. I tried rendering it anyway and of course the render failed.
I'm coming up on a deadline and stand to lose $2000. HELP!

Thanks for the link but it doesn't really address my issue. It's very strange because I don't see any reason why Compressor ought to be failing in the render just because I've selected the transport stream option in the extras tab. I tried a render without that option selected just to see if Compressor was failing on all fronts, but an unmuxed version rendered successfully. I even tried copying my FCP sequence into a new timeline, nesting it and trying to render a .m2t file that way. But that didn't help either. Eventually I downloaded free software called MPEG Streamclip which allowed me to convert a DVD copy of my sequence into a muxed mpg.

  • Can't export MPEG-2 with alpha matte

Can't export an .mpeg 2 with an alpha from after effects using media encoder. Is there a way to do this? The editor I am working with only accepts MPEG 2 for his lower thirds.
Unfortunately I do not have a choice of formats and have to export MPEG 2 with an alpha. Easy enough with QuickTime and .Avi but have not seen an option with MPEG 2 in either after effects or encoder.

    No prob's
    1. Ensure that compressor is installed on your system.
    2. Export the sequence as a Quicktime movie using sequence settings.
    3. Launch compressor and bring your exported sequnce in, now you can apply one of the presets and, over time, read the manual and understand all of the subtleties of compression.

  • CS5.5 will not export MPEG2 Transport stream with mpg extension?

I am creating video for the local cable access channel. I have been using the MPEG2 NTSC DV High Quality preset. That preset outputs MPEG layer 2 audio. The cable access coordinator says that those files will not play audio from the Soloist media server, even though the specs for that server calls for MPEG layer 2 audio. Those files play ok in Windows Media Player. When analyzed with AVIcodec, GSpot, and VideoInspector, they all show there is MPEG layer 2 audio. The server shows no audio at all in one of it's reports.
I had previously been using an older version of Final Cut Pro and Compressor. I no longer have access to that computer but I believe I had been exporting a Program Stream. The access channel's documentation calls for Transport Stream. When exporting Transport Stream MuliplexingMPEG2 video in CS5.5 Media Encoder, the output file has the .m2t extension. These 3 codec analyzers aren't recognizing this as MPEG2. I assume that the video server will not recognize this m2t file extension at all. Final Cut's compressor did output the Program Stream MPEG2 with the mpg extension.
Is there a way to export Transport Stream MPEG2 video with MPEG layer 1 audio and have an .mpg file extension on the resulting file?
Also, anyone familiar enough with PID values to know if that could have any bearing on why the MPEG layer 2 audio is not being detected in that video server when I use the MPEG2 NTSC High Quality presets?
    Thanks for any help.

    Jeff,
I am still waiting to here back from the access channel coordinator to see if the test file encoded this way would be recognized and play correctly. The files can only be tested when the server is off-line so it takes awhile for a response. Thanks for your help. I'll post when I get word of that file status.

  • MPEG-2 with audio but no transport stream?

We have a Leightronix Nexus, which is a new whizbang digital video playback device for cable studios. It supports transfer of MPEG-2 files, but thus far I haven't been able to make a compatible MPEG-2 file with Compressor. Leightronix only does Windows so they've been of no help.
Here are the requirements as listed in the Nexus manual:
-MPEG-2 Program Stream, consisting of a single elementary video stream with an optional single elementary audio stream. In big letters it says "Transport stream is not possible."
The other specs seem fine; I think it's the lack of a transport stream that fouls it up. Compressor, in the audio checkbox, says "Select this to create an MPEG-2 Transport stream with multiplexed audio."
Is there a way to get audio into an MPEG-2 file without using a transport stream? If Compressor can't do this, are there any other (hopefully inexpensive) tools that can?
One interesting thing is if I copy one of the mpeg-2 files created on the Nexus itself (by having it digitize video), it plays quite fine in Quicktime Player.
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Or, you can just use a freeware tool like MPEG Streamclip to combine Compressor's elementary .m2v output with its .AIFF audio and produce a multiplexed program stream. The $10 MPEG2 Works shareware app will also do the same (along with several other operations).

  • MPEG-2 Video, .m2v, Transport-Streams

I have searched through all of the Forum but still no solution.
Like many people here I have QT PRO (on Leopard) and the MPEG-2 Playback Codec (Version 6.4.1) installed. When I record from TV via Cable or DVB-T I always get a MPEG-2 Transport Stream. I know how to handle these and I know how to convert them. My question is regarding the Finder Preview Issue.
When you have selected in Finder to show the Preview of a file it will go for a long cup of coffee when it comes to selecting a .m2v or MPEG Transport Stream file, i.e. the Finder crashes. This is a phenomina since QT 7. Apple promised a better handling of .m2v for the 10.3.9 Update but I cannot see any changes.
I don't need to preview those files if it is not supported. This would be nice to have but I don't really need to. Is there anyone out there who can tell me how to
    1) prevent Finder Preview from crashing or
    2) get this to work
I tried some hints from here like re-associating .m2v with the Quicktime Player but it didn't resolve my Issue. Is there maybe someone from Apple reading this and being able to help out?
    Many thanks in advance.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe "true" transport streams have ever been supported by the QT MPEG-2 Playback component and, by extension, would not be supported by either the Finder Preview or QuickLooK.

M2V/AIFF elementary stream files, "muxed" MPEG (MPEG2/MP2 or MPEG2/MP1), and MOV (MPEG2/any compatible audio) all play fine for me in both the Finder Preview and QuickLook. The only problem are VOBs whose video content play fine in the QT Player but have to have their extension changed to MPEG to play in either the Finder Preview or QuickLook. Frankly, I am unable to duplicate your problem except for "true" MPEG-2 Transport Streams, which, as I previously said I don't believe have ever been QT compatible.

  • Exporting FCP to MPEG 2 with video & audio tracks COMBINED?

I want to post a film on Google Video. I'm told they like MPEG2 files, but with the audio and video combined.
How can I create an MPEG2 with the video and audio combined?
I've also been told I can change the .m2v extension to .mpg after I've encoded, without causing problems. Their 'uploader application' doesn't like the .m2v extension.
    Thanks,

Are you uploading a video to http://video.google.com/ ? You do NOT need MPEG-2 to upload videos there. Have a look at Uploading Videos at the Google Video Support page.
Compressor can only make MPEG-2 Transport Streams, not Program Streams. With a little help of a great application called MPEG Streamclip , you can easily make MPEG-2 Program Streams.
Encode your video and audio using Compressor. For audio, choose AIFF, and make sure it gets the same name as the .m2v, but of course with the right .aif suffix.
Open the .m2v file in MPEG Streamclip (the audio should automaticly load with the video file if they have the same file name). Choose the file menu and choose Covnvert To MPEG Using MP2 Audio.
    Good luck!

I would like to use slideshow in lightroom to export my video as a full screen 1920x1080 video with text overlays.  I am using text overlay in lightroom as it reads from the metadata that is easy for me to input in the library screen.  When i export from lightroom slideshow and choose the 1920x1080 resolution the end product is a very small video in the middle of a black background.  i have double checked and do not have any borders turned on.  Another option would be to export from the library but lr mogrify does not seem to put text overlays on video either.  Any input would be welcome.

I dont understand anything you said in your post.
Do you have a specific question about video production?
The forums are for individual technical or creative issues that users have with video production. I am sur someone will be able to help you, but and to get a response it is best to ask a specific question.
Is this about a technical problem you have or something about setting up a web site? If its the latter this is the wrong forum.

Are you running the 9.0.1 Update of the program and on what computer operating system is it running?
Is your video card/graphics card driver up to date according to the manufacturer of the card?
Is your computer optimized, including maintenance of pile ups of preview files, conformed audio files, and conformed video files?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1?
What are your project settings and what are the properties of your source media? When you say that "used to be able to export...." is that on the same computer, same brand/model/settings for the camera recording the video now in use, same Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1?
Where player are you using for the playback of these exports?
Please give us more details on the size of the projects (then and now) as well as details of the customized export settings in your Share/Computer/ route. Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 is only a 32 bit application running in 32 bit or 64 bit system. Not sure if computer resources might be taxed more so now than before.
    More later.

  • No audio when compressing .mov to Mpeg transport stream (m2t)

Since reinstalling OSX and FCS2 I don't get audio when I compress a quicktime movie to mpeg transport stream, used to be able to do it. I'm playinh the m2t in mpeg streamclip and assume it will handle audio, settings in compressor look ok, (48K 16 bit) although the button for multiplexed mpeg i/layer 2 audio is greyed out and unticked !?

Answering my own query here, but in case it helps someone else ... there appears to have been sound all along, at least since I ticked the mpeg audio box on the extra tab. When the file is playing in mpegstreamclip you have to work the volume fader down and up again at which point the sound comes on (yes it was faded up initially)
Wierd one, its almost as though there was a faulty physical fader rather than a virtual one.

  • No audio playback of MPEG-2 muxed program streams made with Compressor?

    Is anyone else experiencing this?
Any fix? Audio plays in VLC so its not operator error..
Upgraded to QT 7.6.6 (1632) and no longer No have audio playback of MPEG-2 muxed program streams made with Compressor?
This machine played audio out of QT with these files prior to upgrade this afternoon.

I've never run a component conflict test is there a tool for that or is this a command in terminal?
There may still be some "tools" around to help with the process but you still have to run playback tests yourself and evaluate the results. The process is quite simple. You just need to "hide" one or more components, open the QT Player, and play a file to see if it is now working correctly. If it isn't, then continue "hiding" additional components. If the file does play correctly, then you have found a conflict and can start "unhiding" components to determine which one (or combination of components) is causing the problem by removing any "problem" components to an external location such as your desktop. Just remember to close the QT Player after each playback test. This is required (or at least used to be required) for the regeneration a new list of components available for use.
I used the term "hide" above since I simply keep a "Disable" folder handy in my Library QT Component folder for just such tests. Placing a component or set of components into the folder temporarily "hides" it from the QT Player when it next generates a list of the components available for use. Specific strategies vary. I sometimes use use a binary tree approach to hide the components (I.e., "hide" half of the components instead of one at a time.) Unfortunately, I don't know exactly how this works with regard to QT X. So, I would likely run such tests in the QT 7 Player. So far, when everything is working correctly in QT 7 Player, QT X seems to be able to play the same file(s) in QT X via the 32-bit switching process.

  • Export MPEG-4 with Chapters?

I am using Adobe Premier Elements to edit and label home movies.   I want to export the movies to MPEG-4 format and distribute them to relatives on thumb drives for viewing on PC/iPhone/iPad.    Is there any way to preserve the Chapter Markers when the MPEG-4 file is created?     MPEG-4 as a format supports chapters and it would allow someone watching the video file to jump to the next chapter/ scene.    My Premier Elements project has chapter markers that work fine when I export to DVD, but the chapter markers are gone when I try to export to MPEG-4.

I found a solution and it works well.  I ended up using some freeware called Handbrake to create the MPEG-4 files with chapters.   The MPEG-4 videos can be played on a Computer, Smartphone, or Tablet.
Step 1: Create your Adobe Premier project with chapter markers
Step 2: Use Adobe Premier to create a DVD ISO folder of your project
Step 3: Use the Handbrake program to create an MPEG-4 file from your DVD ISO folder
You will want the MPEG-4 files to have an extension of .m4v (not .mp4), so that they will play on Apple and other devices.   Use the iPad setting in Handbrake which gives you 640x480 output.
    In Handbrake:
    Click Source
Choose Folder  d:\Home Movies in DVD iSO Image Folders\1966 Home Movies
    Under Preset, choose iPad
Click Start to encode the video
You now have a MPEG-4 version of your video that you can play on your iPad, iPhone, Android, Computer, or other devices.

  • Irt ri with own transport stream

    Hi!
the irt ri lists "transport stream playback from hard disk" as additional feature. has anyone tried that? I can't find where to put my TS-path.
what I want to do is to create a transport stream with object carousel (don't really care about video & audio although it would be nice) and use it as input in the reference implementation. next step would be adding stream events.
i found some open source tools to create all that, but without any documentation. if anyone has tried anything like this, please tell me about your experiences. it could save me a lot of time and sweat :)
    thanks a lot! elBoB

    Hi!
I tried the TS from HDD feature today for the first time and I like it. It behaves like a live input from your DVB card and as far as I am concerned I can recommend it.
There is a chapter about TS playback in the document "IRTs MHP RI Installation Guidline.pdf".
First configure the TS file in "LocalTransponders.cfg", then define a HDD transponder in "Transponders.xml". For easy access make an entry in "navigator.prop"
and don't forget to configure RI video composition. That's it.
