Exporting to swf background problem

Hi all,
I've created an animation which has a black background (created a black solid), and then added new images on top of it.
The new images all had black backgrounds along with the actual object so using colourkey I removed the black of each images background so that the shape in the image only shows. (hope this all makes sense so far!)
now when i came to export the file to swf, i played it on a webpage and the black background mage does not show, its transparent, and the black background of each image which i removed with the colour key does show up!!
arghhhh please can someone help me asap!!!???
Thanks

First, why are you exporting as SWF from After Effects? That is only useful if you need to preserve vectors, and there are very few things that are preserved as vectors when exporting to SWF from After Effects. If you need a SWF animation, it's almost always better to create it in Flash. If you want to export your animations from After Effects to play in Flash, it's almost always best to render and export to F4V or FLV. See this page for information about alternatives for creating material from After Effects for Flash or Flash Player: "Rendering and exporting for Flash Professional or Flash Player".
Very often, when someone complains of something not appearing in a SWF file exported from After Effects, it's because they selected Ignore for the Unsupported Features setting. See "Render and export a composition as a SWF file".

  • Interactive document exported as swf navigation problems

I created an interactive document, exported as a swf file. Each page has an animation build, text fade in, images slide in etc. When I navigate to the next page, it displays the completed build, reloads and plays the animated build. When I navigate to the next page it does the same thing again. I want to be able to navigate to a page and view the animation from the beginning not see the completed animation first. Any ideas what could be the problem?

It´s a bug. Start your animation from outside of the page area or if you have to start it from some visible place, create a mask that covers your animation´s starting point. Then use a timing panel to start your animation by fading the mask away, then proceed to the actual animation. If you have white background in your page, mask can be a simple white rectangle.

  • InDesign CC – problems to export a SWF

    Hi,
    can you help me, please?
I have a big job e-brochure with three alternative layouts.
One for MultiMedia interactive PDF, one for print and one for swf (intranet).
On CS 6, I did not have problems in the past to export all three data files.
Now, in CC I export a swf from alternative layout, but the program do not
create the folder "Ressorces". I have the swf file and html file but not the
folder Ressources with all movies included.
    What am I doing wrong?
    best regards,

  • Exporting SWF length problem

I'm using after effects cs6 and I need so bad to export an swf file ,whenever I export it I get a different length which is about 3 seconds while the original comp is 10 seconds. Help please

You are not giving us much to go on. Try checking your work area VS the comp length. Try checking the frame rates. I don't know anything about your project at all so these suggestions might not do any good.

  • Exporting to SWF

I'm new to AE, so forgive me if this is a dumb question. But I would really appreciate some help.
How can I convert 12 second .mov loop with transparency into a 15 second .swf with a transparent background for use in an Adobe Captivate project?
What I've tried so far has resulted in either a 12 second swf clip with transparency or a 15 second avi clip without transparency. As a newbie, I'm only using the trial version of AE for the moment. I realize it has limited codecs, so perhaps that's the problem. I think, however, it's far more likely that the problem is my limited knowledge.
Here's what I've tried (unsuccessfully) so far:
    1. Created a new Composition with a Duration of 0;00;15;00 with a white background.
    2. Imported my .mov file with a setting of Premultiplied Alpha Channel.
    3. Brought 2 copies of the file to the stage and aligned them end-to-end on the timeline so that I filled the entire 15 seconds.
    4. Exported as .swf.
This works great for giving me a transparent swf. However, the length is only 12 seconds--the length of the original clip. I can't get the full 15 seconds.
I've also tried rendering it as an .avi that I can convert to a flv or a swf. This works great for getting me the full 15 seconds, but not only does it not have transparancy but the flv causes problems within Adobe Captivate because of the way the program loads the clip.
    What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for your help. I hope my explanation makes sense.
    Dan

It sounds like you may have inadvertantly set your original clip to export and not your 15-second-long comp. If the comp is 15 seconds in length, the resulting export should be as well. Another thing to check would be to make sure your work area is the entire length of the comp.

  • Audio Settings are ignored on export to SWF in Captivate 4. Advice?

Background: Project is a 1-hour, spoken-word PowerPoint slide presentation, about 60 slides, about 1 min each. Audio has been split into one CD-quality, mono .wav file for import to each slide. All clips are excerpts from the same, full-length .wav file. Nothing fancy, no captions, animations, etc. Just one dog and one pony in this show. Using fully updated version of Captivate 4.
Problem: Upon export to SWF, any changes I make to the audio quality settings do not take. That is, I still get a huge SWF file with full CD quality sound. SWF file size is ~47MB. Should be closer to ~25MB or even less at my target quality of 11kHz, 24kbps.
What I've tried: I have adjusted both the Audio Settings for the project, as well as the SWF Size and Quality settings (in the Preferences dialog box, Project category) by alternately selecting "Low" or unchecking the "Retain slide quality settings" box, then synchronizing the settings with the settings in the Audio Settings. I have also tried selecting and unselecting all SWF compression options.
I have tested this on two computers, one XP Pro, the other Vista Home Premium 64-bit. Both Captivate installations are fully updated. Same results on both.
Things that make me go "Hmm": I can create a Captivate project with one slide as a test and achieve full flexibility of audio kHz and kbps upon export to SWF; that is, it works just like I want. However, as soon as I add a second slide, my export quality reverts to full CD-quality. I've even tried this with an extremely simple project with no PowerPoint slide, no skin, just blank white slides. So, I do not think it is an issue connected to some other aspect of the project in question.
So... Is this a bug? The odd thing is that this process has worked in the past. It seems that it has suddenly become a problem. If it were on only one computer, I would reinstall, but given the same outcome on two very different computers, it seems very unlikely that the same quirk has materialized in both.
    Advice? Thanks. -Steve

    Hi Steve,
This is a long shot, but you could try copying and pasting all of your slides into a new instance of Captivate. If you have specified certain audio settings Captivate should pick these up when you export. If not then it is possible that your CP file has become corrupted.
If that doesn't work, please file a bug report using the web address I have included below.
Adobe Captivate Feature Request/Bug Report Form
It would be interesting to see if the CP team can shed any light on why this is happening.

  • Xcelsius 2008 FP2 won't export to swf

    Hello,
I can not get Xcelsius to preview or export to swf.  The progress bar labelled "Generating swft" displays for approximately 3-5 minutes until Xcelsius.exe finally crashes and the app closes.  I'm running Xcelsius 2008 SP1 with FP2, Live Office XI R2 and Flash 10 (lastest version).  I've also looked at the Flash security as described in other forum posts and that does not appear to be the issue.
The .xlf I'm working with was successfully completed and published to Crystalreports.com and is working fine.  The problems began when two additional Live Office connections were added to allow for some additional data points in the next release of the dashboard.  The data model now contains a few hundred more rows and a few hundred forumlas causing the Excel file to increase to just under 1MB.  The total number of rows of data return in all Live Office connections combine are just over 1,000 rows.  The max # rows setting in Xcelsius is set to 2,000.  The formula cells added to the data model are fairly simple formulas that were successfully used in the data model previously (ISERROR, INDEX, MATCH).
On occasion, Xcelsius will give the message box "Your range has been reduced to the maximum rows allowed" before crashing.
Acting on this message I have removed the new Live Office connections, but the message/crashing continues.  I have now scaled back the # of Live Office connections and # of formula cells way back to a very small number.  the data model is now very small and quickly imports into Xcelsius yet the same message/crashing continues.  I have verified that the data model currently in Xcelsius is the most recent, very small version of the data model, but Xcelsius still behaves like the large 1MB data model is present.
I don't know if this is even a # rows/data model size issue or a config/bug issue.  Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
I've read the PDF on FP3, but don't see this scenario listed.  Might FP3 help?  I need to be FP3 is compatible with publishing swf files to Crystalreports.com which is a BOE XI R2 platform.

thanks for the quick advice.  so we can scale back the data to within 512 rows by splitting this into 2 dashboards.  Not ideal, but shouldl be acceptable.
The data is already pre-aggregated.  The data sources for this data model are crystal reports that are published in Crystalreports.com and refreshed nightly against a 3rd party API.  Virtually all of the formulas required in Excel are used to line up rows of data that are being pulled in from 2 seperate live office queries.  All of the required data points could not be included in a single crystal report so 2 are needed and the rows matched up in Excel using an INDEX(MATCH) formula.  We are not using any unsupported functions or VLOOKUP per the advice of an Xcelsius best practice document I located in this forum.  I'm open to any suggestions on better techniques to align related rows of data from two seperate ranges in Excel so they essentially appear as though they came from a single data source.
I am starting to lean toward the # of formulas in the data model as being the issue and have added fitlers to the live office query to cut the # of rows to only 20% of what was originally being retrieved.  The # of formulas were also reduced by the same percentage.  However, when trying to preview or export to swf, Xcelsius still gives the same message that the range was reduced to the max allowed and then crashes.  It's as if Xcelsius is still seeing the old data model.  Perhaps something is being cached that isn't clearing out?  Even a full remove and re-install of Xcelsius SP1, Live Office and FP2 has had no affect.  Maybe we need to build a new .xlf from scratch?
    thanks

  • Trouble exporting to swf

Hi , I am using flash CS3 Pro, and i am having an odd
problem. First every other file i have made exports fine. I opened
my last site to make some minor changes in text and images and
after i saved it and went to publish it did not work. The file
directory is set as usual and nothing else changed except for some
additional text and a image swap so i can not figure out what is
    going on PLEASE HELP !
I noticed that when i i press F12 and its in the process of
exporting the file will show up in the destination folder for about
2-3 seconds then disappear. It also wont preview export or publish.
    Any ideas ???????

    [branched to a new thread]
There's seldom any reason or benefit to exporting a SWF file directly from After Effects. Relatively few things are preserved as vectors (which is the main reason to export a SWF file). See this page for details.
There are several options for creating movies from After Effects that will play in Flash Player. See this section for more information.

  • Exporting to SWF, keeping same page formats

    Hi,
I have an InDesign document, in CS5, with different page spreads. They're all A4 double spreads except for two of the pages. One is A4 portrait on its own and on is landscape.
When I export to swf, those pages turn into double page spreads which means I end up having what looks like a blank page next to my single page.
Is there any way of keeping different page sizes when exporting to SWF?
    Thanks in advance,
    ZoeByDesign

No there´s not. InDesign exports your SWF by using the size of the largest spread in your document. Smaller spreads or pages will be exported to that size as well, extra space filled with white...
I suggest you to change the size of those single pages to match the size of other spreads (A4 portrait > A3 landscape) and fill the empty space as you like in InDesign instead of letting SWF exporter use white color. If you want it to look like it´s single page, fill the emtpy space with same color you have as a background in your html-wrapper file.
Check this sample (coverpage is actually a spread, but the left side is filled with same grey that has been used as a background):

  • Exporting to SWF - interactive indesign documents

    Hi guys,
Ok so I have been playing around again with the idea of producing some interactive wire frames using indesign and exporting to swf. I have a global nav at the top that is working just fine. I also have some links futher down the page, and that's where the problem is.
Let's say I have a link called 'Map' half way down the page. It's a long page around 4000 px. So let's say the 'Map' link 2000 px down the page. When I click on the link it takes be to the map page, but postions me at 2000 pixles down the page. Not at the top of the page where I want to be.
I have had a play around with the Zoom drop down but I am not having any success.
I don't want to export to pdf as I want to be able to set target pages for the links with in indesign, and not have to mess around in acrobat after (potentialy This document will have a tonne of pages).
    Anyone got any ideas (please)

  • Export as SWF

Hi I am having an issue with exporting CS5 .indd as SWF.
I want to create an e-book with placed SWF Media that is exported as SWF and includes Page Curl.
I have set the placed SWF media to play on page load, poster is standard, and export settings, Interactivity and Media include all.
Problem is the placed SWF does not play on page load, you can see an object that when clicked then plays the placed SWF.
I need this to play on page load, really appreciate some help!! Many Thanks Paul

Hi, I know why! I forgot to mention that I also had a sound object mp3 added to the page. If I remove this the SWF plays and exports correctly.
Does this mean you can only have one media object on a page? Be Good to know, thanks Paul

  • Indesign CS4 - Export to SWF and font issue

    Hello,
How do you embed a font in an Indesign CS4 document when you are going to export it to an SWF file?
I have an Indesign CS4 document that uses a particular font.  This document is then exported to an SWF file which is then uploaded in our intranet website.  When users view the internal website, the SWF font uses a different font like Times New Romans.  I do not get this issue because I have the particular font used in that document installed on my machine.
Are there any work arounds for this issue other than distributing the font used in that exported SWF file?

InDesign should embedd fonts by default when exported to swf... may be you have some protected font in use? do you have problems with other fonts too? Quick and dirty workaround is convert your text to outlines... not good one but fast...

  • Can't export to .SWF when I could do it before?

    Hello everyone,
My Dashboard was working perfectly fine until I binded colors to my graphs. After that, Xcelsius does not allow me to export to .SWF and I get the following message:
"Could not generate the Flash file (SWF); the cause is not known. Try again. If the problem persists, contact your customer support representative."
    Someone please help me
    Fernando

What worked for me was the following:
1- Reducing formula ranges. Example: I had an Index/Match combination where my ranges where set to 1000. I reduced them depending on my number of lines. If the lines with data where 500, I would reduce the range of my formula from 1000 to 510. For those lines that were around 1000 I would kept the range the same.
2-Restarted my computer. Sometimes the error would prompt up and sometimes it wouldn't after restarting.
The third solution is what has caused me null problems:
3-Simply click on the canvas and then export. I noticed that if I was placed in a cell in excel it would cause me the error.
    Best,
    Fernando

  • Error # 2048 while exporting to SWF

    Post Author: RMS
CA Forum: Xcelsius and Live Office
Here is the problem description: - Created web services based off a universe using Qaaws - Created Xcelsius Model to consume above web services. - Export to PDF works fine. Web services fetch the right data and model is interactive. - Export to SWF / HTML produces 'Error # 2048' Please let me know if anyone has encountered this earlier. This seems to be an issue on the Flash side and not Xcelsius? Any methods to troubleshoot? Thanks!

    Post Author: abrat

The error messages shown from a running swf are from the Adobe Flash player.
You can find them here. http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/2/langref/runtimeErrors.html
Your problem seems to be a flash security issue.
SWFs running locally (directly from a useru2019s computer) have additional
restrictions imposed on them since version 8 of the Flash Player.
Xcelsius 2008 uses version 9.  Also
    get more info at
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/fplayer8_security.html The most common solution for 2048 is below.Locally
stored SWF files that contain components that call content (e.g. images, XML
data, a child SWF) stored on the same local drive will receive an error,
unless the local drive has been listed as a trusted location in the Flash
      Player security settings.
This may also occur if you snapshot or export to a local format such as
PPT, HTML or Word and try to run the SWF file.
      Set
Flash Player Security Settings to allow the local drive to be trusted. Also
see the Xcelsius 2008 Installer Release Note on Adobe Flash Player
      Security.
        To enable trust:
        1.)    Go to
      http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.html
        2.)    Select u201CAlways Allowu201D
3.)    In the u201CAlways trust files in
      these locations:u201D drop down, select u201CAdd locationu2026u201D
4.)    Browse for the location in
which your SWF file is located.

  • Issue on Dashboard 4.1 Export as .SWF file while retrieving more than 5000 rows.

    Hi Experts,
We  have a BO Dashboard (version 4.1) that displays the treasury information on cash flows across various countries and regions.
The dashboard is built on Universe and  has large number of components (like filter, aggregation, glow region) with some third party Centigon add on for Google Maps. - GMaps Plugin for SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards provides an interactive map design solution for enterprise dashboards components).
When trying to add more source content to the existing dashboard (and exceeding more than 5000 rows ) and trying to export the dashboard as .SWF file , we are getting a run-time error as below.
But when we minimize the number of rows manually in data mapping (<=4500 rows) we are able to export the .SWF file.
Seriously couldn't arrive at any conclusion or it is a tool limitation.
Please help us in this issue.

I partially agree with you, When I say condition I was talking about LOAD when clause in ACCESS PARAMETERS not where condition of select clause
When you use load condition with a byte range is checked before parsing the row , So to skip a row you can use something like this (seee example below)
    CREATE TABLE ext_employees
    (employee_id NUMBER(4),
    first_name VARCHAR2(20),
    last_name VARCHAR2(25),
    job_id VARCHAR2(10),
    manager_id NUMBER(4),
    salary NUMBER(8,2),
    commission_pct NUMBER(2,2),
    department_id NUMBER(4),
    email VARCHAR2(25)
    ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL
    TYPE ORACLE_LOADER
    DEFAULT DIRECTORY ext_dir1
    ACCESS PARAMETERS
    records delimited by newline
    LOAD WHEN ( 1:5) != '*****'
    badfile ext_bad_dir:'empxt%a_%p.bad'
    logfile ext_log_dir:'empxt%a_%p.log'
    fields terminated by ','
    missing field values are null
    ( employee_id, first_name, last_name, job_id, manager_id,
    salary, commission_pct, department_id, email
    LOCATION ('empext.dat')
    REJECT LIMIT UNLIMITED
    This may solve his problem
