Exporting tracks to Peak

Hi all,
I want to export a particular track - say my vocal track - from GB to a waveform editor (like Peak or Audacity). And then import it back in once I've worked on it. How exactly do I do this?
Any help gratefully received...

You could solo the track and export then bring it back in.
You could also find the project in the finder right click and show package content and edit the track in the media folder (make sure you don't change the name or file type).

Thanks, Ian. Yeah, that's how I do it now...or with the controls in the left side pane. Still, I would have liked that quick on-the-spot edit capability...especially while sketching.

Sorry Mark, you are out of luck as it does not do that - it works the same as L8. The way I would achieve that with more accuracy and control would be to route all the tracks you want to fade to a Bus then use volume automation on the bus. To do this you will need to add a standard audio track, then re-assign it using (Control Click on the track header) to the Bus track. You can then automate volume/plugins etc on the Bus track.

  • Acrobat Review Tracker: Can I export Tracker details?

    Hello,
I frequently send out and join a variety of PDF reviews in my day to day activities at work. The Adobe Review Tracker allows me to see the various reviews I'm participating in with details regarding the review names, number of reviewers, and number of comments per review.
Is there any way to export this information to another application (such as excel)?
The review tracker (available in Adobe Acrobat 9.0 under comments > Track Reviews) seems to only offer a plain list of reviews. There appears to be no ability to sort this information (by file name) or any method to export the data in the tracker to another application.
If this is a new feature in Acrobat 10 (X) or if there is some plug-in or other solution I'd love to hear about it.
    Thanks!

As of now (till Acrobat X), there is no way to export details of reviews from Tracker. You can however create a PDF of review details of a selected review if you have Acrobat (not available in Reader). You may want to log a feature request for next Acrobat version for exporting Tracker details, though I was wondering how useful the exported data would be?
    Thanks!

  • Logic's EXPORT TRACK(S) feature is buggy. Anyone else noticing this?

I'm curious to know what Logic's "export track(s)" functions are specifically designed for. I say specifically because I can't quite pinpoint how they work exactly. Meaning, if a track has sends or sidechain processing etc etc those effects are NOT APPLIED to the exported track. Further, I've noticed static in a file (which doesn't have static in the mix) appear on an exported track, also I've experienced out of sync delays and other issues.
My first question is: has anyone else found the export track feature in Logic to be somewhat inefficient, and if so, have you found a suitable work around?
Second question: What is the Export tracks function specifically designed for? It's not designed to print certain effects on tracks and it doesn't apply any sends data either.
Please chime in with any thoughts. My personal workaround right now is to simply solo each track and bounce the project at the global level (for every individual track). I keep the output strip dry and it seems to be working fine so far (but quite tedious). I'm scratching my head to know what "export track(s)" is designed for.
    Thanks!

I'm still unsure as to why you'd actually want to do this.
If you want to give your processed tracks to a mixing engineer, first thing he will do is ask, for the dry material, because, after all, you are paying him to create abetter mix with better procesing than you can.
If you want to save processing power or RAM, then use Freeze.
If you want to create processed tracks for riskfree playback in a live situation, you'd bounce stems anyway.
Also, the request for incorporated Sends does not make sense, as a send only carries dry, unprocessed sound anyway.
    Christian
Well you are right about the "live situation" scenario. This is why I'd like a "bounce all individual tracks seperately" option. It would facilitate exporting tracks for remixing or performance in Ableton Live. It's a lot nicer to have every track as it sounds in a mix than to have groups or stems when remixing or performing.Right now it just takes a while to solo and bounce every track in a 40+ track project. I just think it would be a very useful function.

  • Exporting tracks from Logic 8

    Hi,
i've figured out that when I'm exporting tracks from Logic ("export all tracks as audio files"). Some of them get automatically normalized and don't have the actual volume of the "mixdown".
Does anybody now, why this happens? I guess it happens only with Logic's own synths and not with 3rd party plugins.

  • Trouble Exporting Tracks

    Hi Everyone,
I'm having some weird trouble exporting tracks. I want to export each individual track of my song, and most of the tracks export perfectly. Then, there's one track that is a problem. Although the song is 3 minutes, the one track cuts off at 2:50 when exported. There is still sound on the track, but it is cut off. Even when I try to export the problem track separately, it still doesn't go for the full 3 minutes. Maybe I'm missing something -- am I just making a dumb mistake?
    Thank you,
    Brian

Make sure the song end marker is far enough out. The fact that the other tracks export without a problem means it probably is already, but is worth double checking.
Beyond that, I have a friend who called with the same problem a couple of weeks ago. One track was being stubborn. I think we're seeing a genuine bug here... unless I'm missing something obvious as well.
Quick work around... set the track's volume to unity (0db), solo it, and bounce it, instead of exporting it. And when you get the bounce dialog, confirm the bounce range is long enough to go beyond the 2:50 time the export was stopping at.

  • Missing 'Export Track as Audio File' command Logic Pro X 10.0.6

Hi - I have just installed Logic Pro X (v10.0.6) for the first time, having come across from PT.
For some reason, Logic appears to be missing some key 'Export Track as Audio File' commands from the menu. The shortcut Command + E just makes the screen flash and nothing happens. I also appear to be missing a lot of other basic commands along with this, based on what I have seen online from other users. Please see screenshot below of my file > export options:
I have tried reinstalling but the same problem occurs.
Could someone please confirm if this is normal, or how I might be able to fix if not? FYI, I am running OS X 10.9.1..
I am hopefully just missing something obvious here.
    Thanks

It does.. but it words it along the lines of 'Have you used Logic Pro in the past?" kind of thing....
So an experienced DAW user that hasn't previously used Logic, would get the limited installation.
The more people you try and and protect from themselves the more generic (i.e. limited) the solution.
Religion would be a good example of this.

  • Questio about exporting tracks...

when i go to FILE>EXPORT>all tracks as audio files, is there a way to NOT include some of the tracks??
In logic 7 this was done by muting the tracks, but in L8 they still bounce out if i mute or even hide them, which makes the bounce folder confusing when burning files to dvd or for transfer to clients.
    any thoughts?

    chucknkd wrote:
ok, i did this method yesterday to export tracks and i STILL got ALL of the tracks in my export folder, all hidden and muted tracks that were not even in the folders arrange window. LOL!
    any thoughts?
Hmm... not sure what's going on there. I can tell you this though. When the export feature was added back in version 7, I had noticed that, if I was exporting 30 tracks, when I got to the dialog box, it would say something like "exporting 54 tracks"... or some number considerably higher that what was visible on the arrange page.
So early on, I got into the habit of deleting all hidden tracks or unused tracks from the arrange page, prior to exporting. I never would hit "Save" of course, just delete extra tracks, and export.
So you may be looking at a legitimate bug here. Try what I do... delete all the tracks that aren't to be exported, and try it again.

If it makes you feel any better, I found this discussion because I'm having the exact opposite >problem. Bouncing all tracks doesn't bounce the folders. Is that the normal behavior?

  • Horrible glitches and dropouts when exporting tracks

    hi there
I own Logic Express 9 running on Snow Leopard 10.6.1
when using the exporting tracks function I get random results, often ending up with unusable files with distortion and glitches - selecting the fx bypass option doesn't help.
this is really annoying and troublesome for my work.
    can anyone help?
    many thanks
    Federico - Italy

In addition to the flex algorithms being disappointingly substandard in overall tc quality, flex tracks glitch constantly--especially if there are tempo changes or crossfades. You may be able to freeze them first and then export. AlternAtively, you could try tmelocking them and then using an alternate tempo map with a single tempo, then switching back after you flex tracks are bounced.

  • Help with exporting tracks from Garageband into iTunes please?!

I have voice-recorded a list of Italian words and phrases which I want to import into iTunes as separate tracks so that I can shuffle them & test myself to learn them. So far I have been using the cycle region to import each word but it is taking forever! I beieve it is not possible to have multpile cycle regions and have been playing about with the markers using the podcast track but I can't get it to export in chapters either.
Is there a way to split a single track in Garageband and import it as mulitple tracks into iTunes all at the same time?
Thanks for any help you can give me!

    vanessa2011 wrote:
the chapters only work when you actually burn to CD. I assume that's correct?
for your purposes, yes (technically it would create podcast style chapters so you could jump past a section, for instance, but not in a shuffle fashion like you want)
    vanessa2011 wrote:
I'm guessing that will take an awful lot of CDs?!
you could use a re-writtable, but no, this doesn't sound like a really workable solution for what you're doing.

Just two of the chapters has already become 220 'songs' in iTunes and over 20MB.
one thing you should be doing is selecting the "compress" option in the export dialogue. you can probably use very aggressive compression for spoken word since hi-fidelity wouldn't be that important (you might experiment with a custom setting to see how low you can go with it still being acceptable)

in terms of audio, it's time, not disc space. a standard CD holds 74 minutes of audio (some store 80)

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0 hangs while exporting and during peak file generation.

I have Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0 (PRE7). I have a project which is using a single clip from a Mini-DV that was captured with Nero 8. Nero 8 was used because it was captured prior to installing PRE7. The file is 12GB and is on a USB disk drive because I don't have the space on my main hard drive (I have about 11GB free). My project doesn't do too much that's fancy. It merely uses about 20 minutes of the 60 minute Mini-DV captured AVI, and it uses simple transitions between each scene. I also have very simple titles at start and end. No themes or anything else.
I've seen two problems. 1) While editing the project, seemingly (but I'm not positive it's related) while the peek file was being generated, PRE7 would get into a state of using about 40% to 50% CPU, and it would not let me do anything else. The other problem, 2) While using "Share" to export the video to WMA for playback on PC (about 180MB estimated file size according to Adobe), the file is exported to about the last remaining 5 seconds, but then PRE7 goes into that mode of hanging with 40% to 50% CPU usage.
One time when it had this 50% CPU issue, I let it sit overnight, and the export was finished in the morning. The export that time was to a 90MB FLV for posting to the "web" according to the Share wizard. But when I was doing the above (issue #2), it went into the 50% CPU usage but didn't finish after waiting around 2 hours. Even if I were to let it sit that time, and it were to finish, it seems like something's wrong and that this is unacceptable.
When this happens, and PRE7 goes into 50% CPU utilization, there is no pacifier or percentage bar advancing. It usually happens near 100% finished. Only one time did it complete successfully after leaving it unattended at 90% complete for an extraordinary amount of time.
    To recap:
    C:\ hard drive ---> PRE7, my project.
E:\ USB drive ---> 12GB source AVI file and destination for export.
I saw elsewhere on this forum that someone imported a mini-dv captured AVI into Window Movie Maker and then exported it to Mini-DV from that app. This solved that person's problem with hanging during peak file creation. I had the 50% hang issue during peak file generation but I'm not sure it was related to peak file generation. A peak file was generated in a project which, when exported with share as mentioned above, still did the hang 50% CPU issue. Regardless, I will try the import/export/movemaker thing and report back but I've been trying enough things that I wanted to take a second to ask for assistance.
Does anyone have this issue, and is there a patch or fix?
I might be able to provide a user mode dump of the 50% CPU adobe process. There is some call stack information and I'm wondering if developers would want this info if they don't already have a solution/fix to this bug.
    Thanks for any help.

I have some more info on the hang which I've been experiencing during export/share of a project which uses an AVI as its one main clip. Adobe Premiere Elements 7 (PRE7) appears to be hanging because it's looping endlessly in ImporterAVI.prm. I'm wondering if this info can be passed onto Adobe developers and/or if I can submit this information elsewhere for such processing. I also have a process dump file which might be helpful, not to mention the original project files.
I used Process Monitor to help analyze this situation, and prior to PRE7 getting into the endless loop, it appears to be reading from the AVI file little by little, and WMEncodingHelper.exe is writing out little by little to the destination file, both of which I would expect. When PRE7 gets to the end of the import/export, Process Monitor appears to show all the aforementioned disk activity ceasing. I see neither process reading or writing. This would be normal if the share/export procedure had completed. But PRE7 is not complete. It is hung and is operating at 50% CPU utilization.
Far below in this post are technical details which may be helpful to an Adobe developer determine why the importer could get into this endless loop. In those details, there is a jump instruction, "jb ImporterAVI!xImportEntry+0xf32", which will always jump if a particular compare always turns out a certain way. But in my review of the counters being compared, it never will get to a point of exiting. When I modify a flag (the carry flag) to be 0, the loop exits. When I did this, my export/share of my project completed successfully. So it was done, but for some reason, PRE7 was looping and looping in its AVI importor instead of completing the export (aka "Share").
I cannot say that this certainly indicates a bug with PRE7, but it seems to me that there's enough data for Adobe to be at least investigating this particular issue. I'm not the only person who has seen this as there was at least one other message describing the same problem which the user resolved by effectively re-creating the AVI file via a no-op import/export into and out of MovieMaker. My AVI also goes through MovieMaker, import/export, without a hitch.
In a sense, I view PRE7's "share" as essentially an import, processing of imported information (i.e., effects and transitions), and an export. It's an import of all clips into the project at the right times, a processing of all effects, and finally an export to a destination. I realize this is simplistic, but the point I'm making is I have a simple project with a single AVI, and it appears that the "import" portion of PRE7's Share option is choking on the only clip used by this project. I also don't have much but simple transitions and a beginning/ending title on the project, so I'm not thinking this use of PRE7 is much more than what I'm doing with MovieMaker when importing/exporting this AVI.
I fully agree that optimum hardware can be either required or critical for certain types of video editing, but PRE7 is a consumer program and I'm not using anything extensive about it and the symptoms are that PRE7 is looping on its import of a file other programs don't have a problem with. I already tried purchasing a 1TB external, which I'm glad I did, but I really think Adobe developers should look at this issue. There may be a problem with handling certain AVI clips used in a project when those clips come from certain sources. If there is an issue, perhaps it could warrant a fix that would make PRE7 more compatible with these other clips.
Does Adobe have a procedure for people to upload (or mail) projects and files to it so that they can troubleshoot why the importer gets into this state? I also mentioned earlier that I have a full user-mode dump of the process which may be of value to a dev. Can I submit this information anywhere?
    Here are textual technical details:
    Plug-in which loops: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0\Plug-ins\en_US\ImporterAVI.prm
The following are the instructions at the "bottom" of the loop which never ends. Below, I put "***" at the jump instruction I mentioned earler. If I force the carry flag to be 0 at that point, and the jump is skipped, the export completed successfully. Additionally, notice that [esp-0x1c] is 0x2000, and that both eax and edi are 0. When I see it loop, eax stays at 0 and never reaches 0x2000. I wonder if something about the AVI is causing values used by this importer to be such that it causes this endless loop, and if that's the case, and if such values are valid/good, I'm wondering if the importer can be fixed by being able to detect such values so as to not choke (if in fact it's an importer issue).

Just like it says in the subject line: It used to be that I could get a Word doc with Track Changes on and comments from my editor, do my own changes/add comments, then export it as a Word doc no problem. Now Pages either refuses to export the document or mangles it when exporting, causing certain changes to be automatically accepted or declined.
I was hoping that today's iCloud update for iWork would have this little bug fix in it, but no luck. Has anyone else encountered this and does anyone have any suggestions for how to fix it?
    Thanks!

I think your problem could be a simple one of corrupt preferences. I think Yvan's script removes them, but maybe not. When something that used to work stops doing so, the most likely culprit is corrupt preferences. Go to HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences, delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist file & then restart Pages. In Finder, hold down the Option key while clicking on the Go menu & your user Library will appear about halfway down the list.

uncompressed audio, takes about 10MB/Minute, so that is exactly as it should be. To make it smaller, convert it to an Mp3 or AAC file (both are compressed formats)
    http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/GBFAQ.html#converttomp3
additionally, if you show the Podcast track, GB will export an AAC file, so it will already be compressed (these are more in the area of 1MB/minute
