Exporting Uncompressed Files

Hello,
Your help would be greatly appreciated!
I need to export an iMovie '11 file I've created from large Quicktime files that were made in a broadcast-quality videocamera.  The catch is that my client needs the file uncompressed (so she doesn't have to go back to the original footage and pick the shots out herself).
What settings do I need to use to do this?
Thank you so much!

Ok, what they probably want is to get it back in HDV, although that may not be optimal.
Uncompressed is not really doable unless you have a lot of high priced equipment. When you see the networks televising a sports event, you will see a bunch of refrigerated trucks in the parking lot. That is the equipment for capturing uncompressed video and then compressing it on the fly for broadcast.  If you have a very fast RAID 0 drive with a lot of capacity (several terabytes) you can try to do uncompressed. It would be a waste, though, becasue the original HDV is highly compressed.
Your footage is HDV which is a highly compressed MPEG2-based group of pictures compression format.
If they are editing on a Mac, I would suggest exporting it out in Apple Intermediate Codec. This is an i-frame codec that is less compressed than the HDV.
If they don't mind compressing to HDV, you can do that, too.
Oh, and if you happen to have Final Cut Pro or Logic Pro installed, you can export in ProRes 422, which is the way most pros would prefer it.
You will really have to ask them. Also, they may want a HDV tape back. You can give them a computer file, but you cannot write out a tape.
So to do this use SHARE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME
Choose Movie to QuickTime Movie and click the Options button.
In Video Settings, choose Compression Type as
Apple Intermediate Codec
OR
ProRes 422 (if you have it)
OR
HDV 1080P30
OR
HDV 720P30
OR
HDV 1080i60
(For the HDV options, you will have to experiment to see which one works best. It appears the original footage is 1440x1080, and you don't want to go back to that. 1440x1080 produces either 1920x1080 or 1280x720 by altering the shape of the pixels.)
For Audio Settings, I recommend using Linear PCM as the Compression Type. (Linear PCM is basically uncompressed audio, e.g. .wav).
Sorry this is complicated, but that is the best way I know to answer.
If the person who you are doing this for has some feedback on how they will use this, I could maybe refine this answer. But if they have professional equipment, they probably know more than I do.

  • I need advice (for the best way to exporting uncompressed files)

Using Final Cut Pro to animation(2D) project(30fps), I've experienced a problem exporting uncompressed TGA image sequence files.
    Here's the workflow I use:
    File> Export> QT Conversion> Image Sequence> Options> TGA, uncompressed 8bit, millions of color, 30 fps> OK
After exporting a files, I supposed to get 1MB each(file size), but I got less than 1MB each(file size). It tells us that those are compressed files. The size of files is random. when I use Avid Nitris there is no problem but it is different with the Final Cut Pro.
Do you know what is the best way to exporting uncompressed TGA image sequence files out of FCP? (for Best Quality Output)
    Thank you in advance.
    Jasmine

    Patrick,
I'm sorry it has taken me so long to reply you. I can't post your request, because Avid is not here. So I will post another example, and I have another question. This is the nearset approach to problem. See below images.
I use QuickTime 7.1 and Final Cut Pro 5.1.1 in the PowerMac G5 2.0 Ghz.
    1. File > Export > QT Converstion > Image Sequence > Options > TGA, 30, Best Depth
I supposed to get 1MB each, but I got less than 1MB each. It tells us that those are compressed files, and shows up low quality images. (besides, The size of files is random.)
    2. File > Export > QT Converstion > Image Sequence > Options > TIFF, 30, Best Depth (Compression: None)
Finally, I was a great success See the files size: all 1MB each. I can get the result that I want/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png
OK, now question, I will tell you.
Why have a different result? (TGA vs TIFF)
'TIFF options' have a compression option, but 'TGA options' haven't it. So 'TGA image sequence' can't make uncompressed files. For what reason? Do you know any particular reason?
: TGA Options haven't compression option.
: TIFF Options have a compression option.
What's the 'Little Endian'? I don't know this option: Little Endian.
Could you explain that for me, please? Lay it all out for me, please..
    Thank you for your kindness,
    Jasmine

  • Premiere will not export Uncompressed or DV compressed video files

Working with CS4 with all current updates...
I have no issue exporting any other format (that I know of) including flv and wmv and m2v.
I am using PCs with Windows 7 Pro 64bit on a Desktop with  8GB RAM and Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit on a Laptop with 4GB RAM.   I've had nothing but problems with CS4 since I cleanly installed my  Desktop and purchased my Laptop.  Adobe Premiere will not export DV compressed with video, only audio,  and will not export uncompressed at all!  I have a system  with Vista Pro 64bit at work, and none of these problems are there.
I have  uninstalled and reinstalled the whole suite (plus removed all  preferences files and went in to the user profile and manually removed  any traces) to no avail.  As I am experiencing this same issue across  two totally different systems, is it a known bug with Windows 7 64bit?   Is there any way to fix the issue?

Sorry it's taken a bit to get back with you... I've been busy on another system.  My assets are R3D files at 4k resolution under the Red 1080p preset.  I have a Core2Duo with 8GB RAM, 2TB HDD, Running Windows 7 Pro 64bit and CS4 Production Premium.  What other system specifics do you require?
I do have a Matrox RTX2 card; and did not uninstall and reinstall it when I uninstalled and  reinstalled my CS4 software.
    As for Export:

  • How do you export a 1080i AVCHD project as an uncompressed file

I have an AVCHD 1920x1080 60i 29.97fps project (shot on a Canon HF10) that I need to export as a self contained (audio/video together) uncompressed file that's playable in Windows Media Player or Quicktime Pro and that can be edited again later on if need be in Premiere Pro CS4.
I have all the latest updates to CS4 and drivers, etc.  My PC is an i7 2.93 GHz, Vista SP2 32 bit, 6 GB RAM.  I have a GTX295 video card.
Here's what I have tried so far:
-I tried exporting as a Quicktime file and despite choosing widescreen the video plays back vertically squeezed.
-I tried exporting using Uncompressed AVI and the file played back in Windows Media Player with aduio only and no video.
-I chose Microsoft AVI and then chose "codec none" so it would be uncompressed.  I got video and audio but the video stutters.
If I export to a Blu-ray MP4 or reduce the quality to a DVD AVI (720x480) it exports and plays back fine.
On a different note, if I take the widescreen DV AVI and bring that into Quicktime Pro it looks vertically squeezed.
Can anyone tell me what settings I should be using to export?  I want to be able to archive the file and reuse it later without losing quality.
Can anyone recommend optimal settings to go to burn to Blu-ray too?  What's the best quality format to export to?

The MTS files that I imported into my project are 1080i 29.97 fps, upper field first, 1.0 pixel aspect ratio.
I tried encoding an AVI with the Lagarith codec with these settings and had better results this time but the frame rate still stuttered.
I even tried making an MOV with the H.264 setting and had strange results.
I can make an H.264 MP4 at 1920x1080 with no problem.
What are the exact settings for an MOV or AVI just in case I missed something?  I really want to have an uncompressed file to archive that can be easily edited later on.  I'm thinking that MOV would be the most flexible format.

  • Problem exporting uncompress AVI

Problem exporting uncompress AVI. The output file will have in-between frames that appear like this:
    Help!

Thanks for response! It's not the player's problem (it's mpc btw), I import it into Premiere for post editing and it's disaster to see the failed rendering.
Mmm need time/Everest to find out the system info. Generally render setting is just straightforward AVI lossless/best quality with no codec assigned.

  • Correct way to export uncompressed to get a product aired on TV

    Hello all,
just finished editing a 50 minute doc that will be aired on Greek TV
I edited with most of my footage beeing  DV-pal 16:9 so I edited on a sequence with these kind of settings.
I exported a "current settings" version and took it to an AVID and recorded a BETASP tape with that.
but people tell me that I should export uncompressed for better results
I just did, but instead I get about 20 files all sized about 2 GB, they are name like I named the project but project av1, project av2 etc
the last file has the name of the project is a playable mov file, but it's only 2.6 GB big.
The current setting export was 11.5 GB, the uncompressed TEST I did for one (1) minute of footage to test the size requirements was 1.3 GB, so IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE TO ME to have the 50 min documentary sized 2.6 GB
    1) What am I doing wrong? if anything
    2) whats the best export way to get broadcast quality and view the project just like on my Mac?
    3) the uncompressed export changes my aspect ratio into streched 4:3, but I guess that players can fix that ....right?
Any help would be musch appreciated, people in here saved me on deadlines more than once...thank you in advance

now then I must find out more:
Danny D, I watch anything of his, not listed as transmitted here
this is a much bigger show than I would expect to use the DVX 100, to our thinking this is a very brave and weird choice of camera, certainly not chosen to keep costs down, but I dont know the situation in the USA, you would never get away with this in the UK
So I wonder... If something is shot correctly, would anyone at the EBU ever know?
The compliance sheets must state  complete workflow: cameras, links, recording, editing........
if a broadcaster flouts the regs there are very heavy fines so you just dont play silly.
I also wanted to ask... does cable programming in Europe have different standards?
with cable satelite and digital terrestrial mainstream broadcasters allocated a full bandwidth chanel must  produce programming to full EBU specs
''Community chanels'' low bandwidth chanels, can distribute non broadcast originated material - sound and vision must be to correct levels.
so all the shopping channels must have full EBU spec studios cameras and gallery the sound and picture quality is as good as a studio based drama
I'm learning a great deal here today!

Aperture is exporting large file size e.g. original image is 18.2MB and the exported version (TFF 16 Bit) is 47.9MB, any ideas please

Raws, even if not compressed, Sould be smaller than a 24-bit Tiff, since they have only one bitplane. My T3i shoots 14 bit 18MP raws and has a raw file size of 24.5 MB*. An uncompressed Tiff should have a size of 18 MP x 3 bytes per pixel or 54 MB.
*There must be some lossless compression going on since 18 MP times 1.75 bytes per pixel is 31.5MB for uncompressed raw.

  • Exporting uncompressed/higher quality tracks

This has probably been answered, but I couldn't find the info I needed searching the old posts, so here goes...
I'm working with a friend via email on some music projects. He's recording guitar, drums and vocals in Cubase on his PC, and sending me MP3s of the songs. I import those into GarageBand and do my bass and Moog, with the intent of sending him uncompressed files to mix into his master tracks. However, I can't find a way to do this! Only AAC (which he can't even import) and MP3, both of which are unacceptable.
    Any ieas?

    export to iTunes, not disk.

  • Export uncompressed FullHD video. Premiere CS6

    Hello.
I have a problem, and I want to ask you for some advices.
Actually I have an Intel Q9550 CPU on which I edit my videos. I didn't have problems with Full HD untill I started to work with AVCHD Format.
The problem consist in Exporting time (it takes very long ~ 7 Hours to generate a 90 minutes movie with VBR 1 Pass + Render At Maximum Dept + Use maximum Render Quality, 1920x1080 25p).
I have a colleague which has an Intel i7 3770K, which does the same process in less than 1 hour.
I'm curios, is it possible to export from my Q9550 PC an uncompressed video. After that to Import this video on i7 3770K PC and compress it into MPEG2-Bluray and MPEG2-DVD. ?
    BTW:
Actually I cannot change my PC because i have no budget allocated for it.
Also, please exclude the advice to copy all footages to i7 3770K computer, and the project and to export on it.
    Any advice will be welcome.

Firstly, you are greatly increasing the render times by checking both Max Depth and Max Quality. Max Depth is typically not needed or used. As for Max Quality, that is said to only help when SCALING is involved, so that would not help when going from HD source to Blu-ray, would only be used when exporting to DVD since you are downscaling the source video. So keeping those rules in mind could save substantial time right there.
But if you do want to export and have your friend encode for you, you don't want "Uncompressed HD" files, those would be absolutely gigantic files and would really strain ANY system when trying to play them (requires special hard drive RAID arrays). Try the free Lagarith .avi codec that can be downloaded (your friend will need it as well to use the files). http://lags.leetcode.net/codec.html Has uncompressed quality, without the uncompressed file size, though the files will still be quite large compared to AVCHD. Your 90 minute program could easily be well over 100GB. A more compact format with good quality is the Matrox MPEG-2 I-Frame 4:2:2 codec, at 100mbps, so about 4x larger than AVCHD files, available here - http://www.matrox.com/video/en/support/windows/vfw_software_codecs/downloads/softwares/ver sion1.0/build33/
Part of your render time issue could also be due to effects you have applied in the video. Those will of course need to render whether exporting to Blu-ray, DVD, or "just an .avi file". So in that case, it may take just as long to export to Lagarith as other formats, so you may not save any time anyway.
What is your hard disk setup? That could be a bottleneck that limits export speeds as well, if reading from and writing to SAME drive, if it's not fast enough.

  • LR 2.5 won't export TIFF files with LZW or ZIP compression??

I've just updated to LR2.5 and CR5.5, I'm using Vista Ultimate x64 on an AMD x2 64 bit pc.
LR worked fine until 2.4 came along and hijacked all my auto play settings. Adobe finally releases 2.5 and now I find if I export TIFF files from a Nikon D700 NEF all I get is a black box the same size as the image??? If I turn LZW or ZIP compression off and export uncompressed the export works again. JPEG also exports ok.
Anyone else getting this? Have you found out what's causing it?
    James.

    Thanks for the feedback Jao,
I just tried across the whole range of TIFF options and the only files that don't give me a black file are 8bit and 16 bit with no compression. LZW and ZIP both stuff up
Might try a complete uninstall and reinstall to see if that fixes things. These sorts of things only happen when you are in a rush to get lots of work done!

  • Need Help With Exporting EPS Files That Will Be Opened In Another Program

I am trying to export some files from Illustrator in EPS format, to be used in another program called "Blufftitler". Their documentation is pretty sparse and doesn't go into much detail. It only mentions the following:
    "Limited support
BluffTitler has limited EPS support. It only imports filled shapes built out of lines and curves from uncompressed, unoptimized EPS files."
No matter what settings I try in Illustrator when exporting the EPS file, it won't open in Blufftitler, and keeps throwing me errors. I tried Choosing "Illustrator 3" as the format, and turning off the preview option. I also tried "expanding" the shape itself several times too. Is there some other way in Illustrator to just export a bare-bones EPS files without any extras or other stuff that might cause problems with other programs?
The funny thing is, when I create EPS files with another program, such as Vector Magic, they work fine in Blufftitler - it just seems to have a problem with EPS files created in Illustrator specifically.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

The main problem is with BluffTitler is it doesn't have a very good eps handler as it can really only import eps files that are about 10k each and are not overly complex. If you look at all the sample .eps files that come with it, each one is about 1 or 2k each. A simple circle in Illustrator, even when saved as v3 without a preview, is around 258k. The reason for the larger file sizes is due to the extra things being saved in the file that aren't even on the page, such as brush presets and graphic styles. The sample .eps files that come with BluffTitler don't have these presets so the files are already smaller.
Something you may want to try is to open up one of the sample eps files and use that file for your vector work but save the file with a new name. I found that by doing this I could get the files down to a much smaller size. You may also want to setup any vectors in Illustrator first, save them, and then open the files in InkScape, http://www.inkscape.org. From what I've read, InkScape can get you fairly small file sizes so it's something you should check out.

  • Export uncompressed targa sequence

I work in a television station using Final Cut and LiveType to make graphics. Our clip server imports image sequences, but can only recognize uncompressed targa files. Exporting as a targa sequence from either program applies some sort of compression to the images. Currently we use GraphicConverter or Photoshop to do a batch convert to uncompress, but it would be handier to be able to export directly uncompressed. Is this possible? Alternatively, is there a 3rd party utility that can convert a DV movie to an uncompressed targa sequence. We have Cleaner, but it uses the same compression as Quicktime.
    Thanks.

Thanks John. I get codecs and how they work (I've been making film and commercials for broadcast and cinema for over 10 years) what I find confusing is that apple have removed the choice to render / export with no codec at all - 'none'. We shot a film on Sony F3 with S-Log using an Aja Ki Pro to record directly to an external drive as ProRes 422, there's a weird problem with s-log and prores where the white highlights are clipped but the information is still in the file, because we recorded prores the only way to fix this problem is to apply 3way color correction in FCP (because prores is native to fcp) and bring the highlights down to 99IRE. We are adding CG set extension etc to a few shots so VFX dept are looking for 16bit tiff sequences so that there is no colour loss on their clips so everything will composite together properly in Nuke before online and grade. The only way to do this is to apply the colour correction in FCP, render as uncompressed 'none' then bring the uncompressed file into AE and export the tiff sequences. That way there is no loss of colour information or how the a codec will interpret colour. I've had to export with 'none' hundreds to times but with Lion that option has vanished. It's still there on Snow Leopard, which is what I have to use, but it's gone from Lion. Which is weird, no? Maybe Apple want to force us to use one of their codecs

  • NWDS 7.0 Error during Quick PAR Upload and while trying Exporting PAR-File

    Hello,
I am trying to use the functions "Export as PAR-File" and "Quick PAR Upload" in NWDS 7.0.

    Thats all.

I can sucessfully deploy webdynpros from NWDS into the same Portal with this users.
We are using SAP Logon Tickets and SSO is configured working fine between Portal and backend.
We have imported Key Store File in NWDS unter Window --> Preferences --> Java Development Infrastructure.
And we are not using the NWDI.
Who knows why I cannot even export par-files? Are their any configurations missing?
    Best regards,

    It is mentioning about authentication.
check whether you have access to deploy directly or not ? maybe direct deployment into portal disabled .
I think you have to follow the procedure of checkout and activate procedure.
    Can you clarify few things
    1) Are you using NWDI Based Transports in your landscape?

http://192.168.xxx  is it your development portal?
Did you clarify with admin people whether direct deployment disabled?

  • Error in exporting photoshop file

We have several copies of After Effects being used in the office.  Both myself and another user have encountered a problem saving as photoshop layers.  It gets 87% or so into it and then gives the error; "error in exporting photoshop file" in the info window.  Any thoughts?

I don't think expressions should have any influence on teh matter. They are just another way of formulating an animation stream value just like keyframes. Icould think of a few things:
    - The new pixel aspect ratio handling in CS4. Due to the conversion, something may happen to the source footages.
    - Layer styles. this may cause a "cyclic use" of the Photoshop engine. Some of that stuff has changed quite a bit for CS4 to accomodate Ps Live 3D and teh new adjustment layer model.
    - Hardware accelerated effects. CS4 passes through OpenGL acceleration through all comps. Using an effect that uses it and happens to think it doesn#t need to fall back into software only mode, may cause a hiccup.
    - MediaCore. Similar to the previous, it uses hardware acceleration and may show weird behaviors, varying solely based on differences in graphics cards.
In particular for the last two points I would think it is what makes the difference between your systems. One of them has not enough juice on OpenGL, so it's "safe". I'd definitely investigate along those lines.
