Exporting uncompressed/higher quality tracks

This has probably been answered, but I couldn't find the info I needed searching the old posts, so here goes...
I'm working with a friend via email on some music projects. He's recording guitar, drums and vocals in Cubase on his PC, and sending me MP3s of the songs. I import those into GarageBand and do my bass and Moog, with the intent of sending him uncompressed files to mix into his master tracks. However, I can't find a way to do this! Only AAC (which he can't even import) and MP3, both of which are unacceptable.
Any ieas?

Exporting video - HIGH QUALITY

Dear Readers.
I have a question regarding an export of a video from Final Cut Pro. I am about to have an exhibition of my work and I really need to have it projected High Quality. I have decided to play it straight from the laptop instead of burning a DVD (which takes a lot of information). The only thing that I am not sure how to do, is an export of Video. Which in your opinion would be the highest possible quality of playback if the video is going to be screened via Quick Time (unless there is something better that goes full screen on a computer?)? I would be very grateful for some help.

Hi:
This way you'll get the same quality that your timeline, but depending on the footage format (I didn't find any data about this in the original post) you must take some care.
QT will play DV files as square pixels and will show your footage distorted, and will play it by default at low quelity. To play it at full quality open the file in QT and go to Window > Movie Properties, select Video Track and in the lower right you'll find the High Quality option.
In the same panel you can change the display size to compensate the pixel aspect ratio in case your movie is non square pixels.
You can save your movie and those settings will be saved in the file.

How do I export very high quality QT to be used for a DVD?

I have a QT video (800x339, about 67mb) - it's a trailer for a movie that my daughter's in and I'd like to make put it on DVD using Adobe Premiere Elements. Unfortunately, Premiere won't accept this particular QT format (I don't understand why, but I just get an error saying that 'format not supported') - I can import other QT files, however.
Anyway, Adobe's support pages suggest converting the QT file to another format - but I've tried everything I can think of, and I just get lousy quality. I've exported from QT Player Pro to DV and AVI, using the highest 'quality' settings, etc. Some of the files are 1.3gb or more, but they all are poor quality. Is there some codec that I need to get? I can re-export the movie as a QT file and it retains the high quality that it was originally recorded in. Help!

First, on the black bars. I do not want them at all. I cannnot post a screenshot now as
file attachments are turned off temporarily, but they are about 5% on either side. Totally unacceptable especially when in CS3 when exported to Encore there are NO black bars either visible in Encore or in the resulting DVD's
On the options and is the preset saved. I can close Encore and open it afresh and find the preset that I saved listed in the dropdown of presets with the name I saved it as and all the settings the way I want them.
On the issue of Transcode settings when selecting the resource... When I select the resource in the Project panel, or in the Timeline tab, the Transcode settings is greyed out. I have consulted the help screens and forums for various ways to change the transcode settings and none of the suggested ways work.
It looks like my CS4 install does not work the way yours does. I am about to completely unistall CS4 and CS3 and all other Adobe products and try a fresh reinstall to see if that works. Most likely I will simply reinstall CS#, since that works, and abandon CS4 for now as I am getting way behind on my work, and know I can finish with CS3. I have also heard form others that Sony Vegas is really solid and does not have all these weird bugs such as seen in CS4 and CS5, and is a much less bloated product and does the encodings faster. Since it is also less expensive, this seems too good to be true, but work a trial. So first rip every Adobe product off my PC and format the HD and start fress with JUST CS3 and get my work done. Then try Vegas to see if it is as good as my buddies say, if so bye bye Adobe!

INDS CS6 - PDF Export at High Quality issues with Gradients.

We're noticing that on our PDF exports from our INDS instances we're seeing that gradients are showing up when the PDF is printed. You can visibly see the gradient lines. We have our INDS set for 'High Quality Print' and upon viewing the PDF in your browser it looks fine but when you print the PDF you can see the gradient lines.
We've exported the same IDML's directly from InDesign to PDF to Print and the gradients do not show up.
Is there a ExportPDF option we are missing on the InDesign Server that I need to tweak to make these gradients smooth and disappear?

The TIF file in this example consists of a repeating sequence of adjacent columns in the following configuration: 8 white pixel, 7 black pixels.
This pattern repeats across the width of the file.
I've attached one of these files below. Please try to view it at 4000% when placed in InDesign.
(Please note that this problem also occurs with photographic images as well).
If I then crop the attached file in Photoshop, re-save and place in InDesign it will preview correctly at 4000%.
If I leave it at its original dimensions, but convert to a Gray TIF, it will preview correctly -for a while, but eventually also become "corrupted". As I mentioned in my initial post, I've had to use a Grey TIF to get the placement correct, then replace with the CMYK TIF version. Saving with and without LZW compression makes no difference. The fact that the Grey version works temporarily has got me confused. As it happens, for the moment anyway, a narrow width file in CMYK is previewing okay, but then in the past I've used TIFs just ~100 mm wide and had the same problem.

How to Export a HIGH QUALITY .avi file. help PLEASE

Hi, I am trying to export my movie to an avi file, so I can upload it on youtube. I've done some searches online, but have not found any answers that work. I keep getting very low image quality, no matter what settings I choose. I've gone into quicktime preferences and saved the file in "high quality" and that doesn't work. How can I export a movie file with the same image quality as the original project? I'm using Explicit to split the file into two parts, but it can only handle .avi files. Please help!

Ah, I just converted it with the wrong compressor. I used DV/DVCPRO-NTSC prog. scan and it looks beautiful.

Can I export a high quality DVD from iMovie?

Please help. I am making a short experimental film which will show in a gallery in a few weeks. I need the final product to be as high quality as possible. It will be projected on a big screen before an audience. Can I make a high quality DVD from iMovie? I have iMovie 08 and would like to upgrade it to iMovie 11 to get the most features. But I don't want to do a lot of work then find out I can't exhibit the final project properly. I have been reading about iMovie for days on this forum, but I can't get a handle on exactly what is the difference between all the versions. What do you suggest?

I should mention that my movie is made up entirely of still photos with lots of transitions, jump cuts, etc. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Premiere Pro CS4: Exporting to High Quality SWF with Low File Size

Adobe Program: Premeire Pro CS4 (to build slide show video)
Adobe Program: Adobe Media Encoder (to export project into flash file)
Project Details: A 20 minute slide show with still images and audio.
Project Source: HDV 720p, 29.97 fps
Objective: Export slide show into a flash file so it can be watched online. The file must be small enough for most people to be able to stream the video but good quality (like videos found at Hulu.com).
Problem: I'm struggling to find an export setting that will let me maintain both good quality and a small file size.
The export setting that allows the best quality is:
Format: FLV / F4V
Preset: F4V - HD 720p
File Size: 800MB
Troubleshooting History: I have tried the following Presets:
F4V - Same as Source
F4V - 1080p Source, Half Size
F4V - 720p Source, Half Size
F4V - 720p Source, Half Size, VBR 2pass
F4V - Web Large, Widescreen Source
While the file size is much reduced with these Presets, I lose too much video quality.
Inquiry: Does anyone have advice for meeting my listed objective?

I understand that if you want a smaller file you must sacrifice quality and if you want better quality you must expect a larger file size. I am looking for a solution in between the two extremes (again, I draw on the example of Hulu.com). Mainly, I am looking to reduce the file mentioned above from 800MB to about half that.
Does anyone know a way to manipulate the export settings to make that possible and still maintain as high a picture quality as possible?

Exporting a high quality slideshow

To my extreme disappointment iPhoto 5 would not export a slideshow to anything higher the 720 pixels, which looks fine on TV, but looks horrible if you are projecting a slideshow from your computer on a 1000 pixel projector. (By the way in iPhoto 4 you could set your pixels as high as you wanted. Can anyone tell me whether iPhoto 6 has improved this before I buy it?

It's fairly straight forward.
1 - create an album for each slideshow, 99 photos per slideshow max. (I like to add a blank, black slide at the end of each slideshow so the show fades to black as the music fades out.
2 - Open iDVD, select a theme.
3 - click on the "+" button at the bottom of the window and select Add Slideshow.
4 - double click on the slideshow button that got created by step #3 and you'll be in the slideshow editing window.
5 - click on the Media button and then the Photos button and you'll see the iPhoto library and the albums. Click on an album and drag it into the window on the left.
6- You can select the transition and the slide duration if you're not using music tracks.
7 - to add music, click on the Media button and then the Audio button. You'll see the iTunes library and and playlists you've created.
8 - if you want more than one track for the slideshow click on the playlist you've created for this slideshow in iTunes and then on the Apply button at the bottom.
9 - back in the main menu in the Menu window you can set the text, text color to be used in the title and any added extra text, and music to be played while in the menu. In the Button window you can set the transition to use when you click on a slideshow button to play that slideshow and the text and text color for the buttons. You can also set the highlight color to be used to indicate which button is selected.
The number of slideshow per menu is decided by the theme. You can add a submenu with the "+" button so add a second menu of more slideshows. The total number of slideshows is 99 max or 2 hours of playing time (including the menu playing time which takes your playing time down to about 155 minutes out of 2 hours).
I suggest you create a test iDVD project and make a couple of slideshows of maybe 20 slides each to experiment with the various options. After a little experimenting it's really pretty easy. It'll get to the point where the hardest part is deciding which photos to use. Good luck.

Why can't I export in high quality?

Why is it that every time I export a film from imovie HD, the quality is compromised, no matter what settings or file type I choose? What is the trick to this?

It sounds as if the Artboard is 8 x 10. It should fit the Artwork (at 5 x 7).

Exported videos not in high quality (Premiere Pro 2.0)

Hi, I'd like to ask for help. When i go to export a video in Premiere Pro 2.0 I get 2 options. Export with File>Export>Movie or File>Export>Adobe Media Encoder.
I have tested out a bunch of export settings and none of the settings (that I've tried) do make my video export in high quality.
Some settings make the video export in blurred low quality, some settings export the video in a way which my media players (VLC & Windows media player) have diffuculty playing back (slow/lagging, kind of like when a video editor has laggy preview) and some settings make the output video have weird lines on them & low quality.
So I want to ask:
1. Wich Project settings to I use for example a 720p video? (when i click "new project" I get a list of choiced and i think that the settings under "Adobe HDV" are the best (just like a friend of mine recommended) (http://s1162.photobucket.com/user/Doctorwhofan2012/media/NewProjectChoiceofSettings.png.ht ml)).
2. Wich method do I use when I want to export my video?

Exporting high quality still images?

Is it possible to export a high quality still image from video? I have used the export using qt conversion, exported it as a photoshop document and when I bring that doc into photoshop the image quality is poor at 300 dpi. It comes in at 10 inches X 6.67 inches at 72 dpi, but when I make it 300 dpi the image size is only 2.4 inches by 1.6 (this, of course, is when I turn off "resample image")
Any suggestions?

Yes and no. it is no better than your video camera shot it. Generally, for conventional DV, that's roughly 500x800 pixels at a shutter speed of 1/30th second. HD formats and special frame rates, of course, produce other still images.

I beg to quibble, or at least to be a pedant. The 72dpi is an artificial construct imposed by Photoshop. There is no dpi or lpi in video. You only get the raw pixels. You can make the pixels bigger by scaling up or you can throw some away by scaling down but, without additional work like resampling or applying a tool like Genuine Fractals, you cannot get any more pixels.

High-quality files on PC and smaller files on iPod

I want to maintain CD quality files on my PC and have lower quality files on my iPod and my girlfriends iPod nano in order to be able to carry around more music, etc.
I would like to continue using iTunes as we are already both familiar with its layout; however, I know that iTunes will not automatically copy smaller files than are on the computer to an iPod. But, I was hoping that someone had deviced a method of accomodating this even if it means duplicating all of my files (a set each of high and low quality) on my PC.
I have been struggling with this for several weeks on my own. I would even consider switching from iTunes if I could still easily synch with the iPods.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

you can do this if you set up some smart playlists.
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
suppose you were to choose AAC as your compressed format. then create a smart playlist with the following rule:
Kind contains AAC audio file
if your ipod had a high enough capacity, you could then simply head into your itunes "ipod" preference tab, select "automatically sync selected playlists only" and select the smart playlist containing only the AACs. so you'll end up with just the AAC versions of your music files showing up on the ipod.
if you already have the large, uncompressed versions of your songs in the library, you can use the "Convert" function to create the extra AAC copies of the songs:
iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format
(you can do this in bulk. just select all the songs you want to convert, and itunes will steadily work through converting each one you have selected.)
you can use a similar smart playlist technique to create a smart playlist that contains the uncompressed high-quality versions of the tracks. you can use that playlist to navigate through the uncompressed versions, for playing on the PC.

IPhone High Quality Video Formats?

In our app we need to run a video that is high quality. Higher quality than the settings that quicktime pro presets output at. Does anyone know of what format settings I can use to export a high quality video to play?

I use 15 fps, because it looks better when used or converted into flash. If you just try uploading 30fps & 15 fps of the same file on youtube, you will see a change of the quality of the video.
I have never used the broadband settings for the FCP compressor .. But I will try it out.

Best SWF export for best quality?

I have some raw footage that I have compiled in Premiere Pro CS4 and now have been trying to export it out in a SWF format. The sound in Premiere is very good but when I export it it doesn't sound near as good, even though I'm using best quality. I also have at the bottom of the video a flat bar of green with text and that has quite a bit of artifacts. Would someone have a list of settings that you use when exporting to SWF on hand that may help me out?

Thanks, I've been searching for a tutorial that may help me. Is Premiere Pro able to export a high-quality SWF, or at least one that retains sound quality that is close to the original? Or is it better to maybe export the video out to maybe a DV format and then use a stand-alone SWF encoder software?
