Exporting Vids from Photo Booth

I'm not sure if this is the correct discussion venue so please redirect if it should be posted elsewhere. I'm trying to email videos from Photo Booth. I used to just click email, Mail would pop up and the videos would go out. Now it says the server cannot handle it. I've tried to export it to the desktop and email it but it goes out as a photo not as a video. When I export the gif file it says it is a video but in reality it is not. Is there a help section for this? The videos are less than two minutes. It used to work just fine it's confusing. Thank you. Tami Stewart

From what I could understand, you took at 4 photo picture and want to export it without the effect. This is an Apple limitation which we have no control over (we do not work for Apple). I suggest retaking the photo without the effect. That is the best I can do. Sorry.

Exporting images from Photo Booth to iPhoto

Hello,
I recently took several pictures in Photo Booth and then tried to export them to iPhoto using the "Add to iPhoto" button. Only some of the pictures seem to have uploaded. I tried this several times and I believe this may be a bug. Can someone confirm this?
Things to note:
I highlighted all of the pictues I took in Photo Booth (there were 9 pictures total)
When I pressed the "Add to iPhoto" button, iPhoto was not currently open.
When iPhoto did open, it added 2 pictures in one trial and 4 pictures in another trial. So it did not add all 9 pictures
Everything worked ok when I added the photos once iPhoto was open.
Please let me know if you have the same issue.

Photos from Photo Booth to Folder gone

I exported the photos from photo booth to a folder on the desktop and then deleted the photos off photo booth and now its gone from the folder also. but for some reason its not on the trash bin. is there a way i can get those photos back?

..i was searching the forums and empty some of the files of the Photo Booth appl,but still same thing.The funny thing is if i drag the picture to the desctop,it stays.But in Skype now shows some address,where to find the shot taken..And it was not like this before??

Uploading a Video from Photo Booth

I made a video on Photo Booth but I am having trouble sharing it. I moved it to my desktop and sent it through a message on Facebook, and they were not able to watch it. I also tried to upload it to youtube and share it but youtube couldn't process it. I finally tried to upload it to google drive but it won't open on there either. Help!

Importing from photo booth, problems with length and sound

I have a 15 min (277 MB) video clip from photo booth that I would like to post to youtube. I can't get it to work and have been wrestling with a few different programs:
When opening the clip in Quicktime, there is no sound. I can open with VLC media player and the sound is fine.
The clip is too long to import to youtube, so i need to edit it into two sections. However, when try to import the clip into iMovie HD 6, the program crashes (maybe because it is again too long?).
So I purchased Quicktime pro so I could edit the clip. I am able to do this fine, but still have the sound problem. When I saved the edited version, and try to open with VLC, still no sound. Same with iMovie, I can import the smaller clip, but no sound.
I now realize that photobooth is less than ideal for long clips...but we got carried away.
Any input would be appreciated!

I use KDE, but I had sound issues too when I tried Gnome, and just couldn't get it to work right (One of the reasons I use KDE) but if I remember correctly, I needed to install the esd sound daemon and add it to /etc/rc.conf to get sound in gnome.

Corrupt Quicktime files from Photo Booth

I am looking for a Quicktime Repair tool for Mac OS X. Preferably one that can re-write / repair quicktime headers and verify video frame data.
My 4 year old was making some videos of himself using Photo Booth .. my wife and I happened to discover them a few nights ago and were laughing like mad.. was really cute and funny.
So you can imagine our disappointment when I logged in today to move them to a safe location, and couldn't see them in Photo Booth. Inside the filesystem, I show a number of .MOV files, but none of them play. Quicktime reports "The movie could not be opened. The file is not a movie file." Seven of Fourteen movie files in the folder are like this.
When I try to open it in VLC I get a more detailed message in the message log (i've snipped it down for the purpose of posting)

I loaded the file up in 0xED (a Hex Editor) and the raw file header in the BAD files look like:

while a GOOD file header look something like
... ftypqt ....qt ......................wide...smdat h .....
It looks corrupt to me. I'd like to think that only the header is corrupt, and the video data is still fine ... I was curious if anyone had anything to assist?
The only other thing I could think about doing was hexediting the headers, swapping good headers for the bad ones (since the videos from Photo Booth share the same dimension, FPS, etc)

Was this problem ever solved? I've got a similar one.

Mediabrowser only show photos from Photo Booth

The media browser works OK for audio and movies but not for photos.
I can only see photos from Photo Booth but not from iPhoto or Apperture and I can not add Photofolders from the Finder.

Without knowing the answer I will suggest that you trash the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist residing in your name > Library > Preferences. Start Pages again and see it it works now.
You can create a new user account in which you try Pages and se if it works there. If it doesn't it is probably a problem with Pages and it should be reinstalled.

Problem with dragging photos from Photo Booth to Skype

I am new to Apple world.For a month now i got my shiny new iMac 21 inch Intel Core Duo comp.I love it an d all the new things i discover at Mac OS X.But after the first update i made some of the programs get weird :)) First had to reinstall the Flash Player because of Safari problems..and so on.But lately i found that can`t drag pictures from Photo Booth to Skype any more.It was easy before,now it is not working.can you tell me where to search and what to do?? I checked Skype preferences,it is all allowed

You can email the photos from Photo Booth or from the camera roll in the photos app.
Tap on the photo to select it and then tap the arrow icon in the upper right corner and select email - in the photos app ..... or tap email - in Photo Booth - at the bottom of the screen.
You can also import photos from the camera roll to your Mac using iPhoto, Aperture, or Image Capture.

I'm not sure about older versions, but in Pages 3.x (OS X 10.9.x) select File > Revert To > Browse All Versions. Hopefully there will be an earlier version that you can "revert to".

Quicktime file from Photo Booth not playing.

I recently restored a Photo Booth movie from Time Machine. After attempting to play it it read "The document “Movie on 2010-01-23 at 03.35” could not be opened. The movie is not in a format that QuickTime Player understands." I have no idea what this means. The file is reading as a Quicktime file.

Photos from photo booth being saved with weird titles?

On my imac, when you save a photo from photobooth, its named the same as it was in photo both (such as Photo 1189.jpg)
But on my macbook, when i save photos they save as Photo on 2010-10-13 at 15.54 #3.jpg
Is there any way to change how they are saved? Its an organization issue.

Any way? Yes, but the solution may create even more organization issues. Apple has changed the way Photo Booth assigns filenames. Are you running different versions of the OS on your iMac and MacBook?
What not to do . . . . A file within the Photo Booth application can be modified to change its filenaming conventions. But before you begin to tinker with the MacBook, you'll want to have a backup so that you can easily return to where you started. Or, at the very least, work on a copy of the Photo Booth application so that you can toss it if you don't like the results.
Steps to modify the application:
1. Close Photo Booth.
2. Control-click on Photo Booth.app and select Show Package Contents.
3. Work your way to:
Photo Booth.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/Localizable.strings
4. Open Localizable.strings in a text editor such as TextEdit or TextWrangler, scroll to the "Default/photo file name format template," and change the next line from:
"Photo on %@ at %@" = "Photo on %@ at %@";
to:
"Photo on %@ at %@" = "Photo";
5. Save the file.
The next photo you take with Photo Booth will be called "Photo.jpg" and it then will be followed by
Photo #2.jpg
Photo #3.jpg
Photo #4.jpg
Photo #5.jpg
etc.
But note that if you later decide to delete Photo #3.jpg, its number will be used for the next photo you take. In other words, with a gap in the sequence, the sixth photo will be named Photo #3.jpg, and the seventh will be Photo #6.jpg. After several rounds of deleting, the numbers attached to the photos will become nearly meaningless.
What to do instead . . . . I'd advise that you adapt to Photo Booth's new naming conventions rather than try to return to the old. Resisting Apple's changes to Apple software is a losing game. System updates have a way of silently overwriting application modifications.
Or you might consider a method of postprocessing the files that Photo Booth stores in Pictures/Photo Booth. A folder action that watches Pictures/Photo Booth for new additions and automatically changes their names as they're added might be the best approach. Perhaps someone in the Mac OS X Technologies/AppleScript forum can help with a folder action script.

Issue with uploading files from photo booth

Whenever I want to upload a photo booth picture from my computer, I hit upload and go to the photo booth section of the window that pops up. However, the photo previews displayed only show my first fifty or so photos (I have over 400 in there), and I have to click in and out of the photo booth folder until it shows all of my photos to choose from. Does anybody else have this problem/know how to fix it?
