Exporting with alpha for html roll over

I am doing some animations for use on a website. so that when someone rolls over a particular element it would play a 3secong video of a Jack popping out of his box.
The video will be uploaded to the server space specified for the website.
That is the best way/format to export this animation?
Are there thisng other than resolution to consider?

Use flash. Render an h.264 and use flash to embed the movie. Any media player is going to give you a player window.
To make it mobile compatible, set your comp's frame rate to something like 6 or 10, make the comp 2X the size of your roll over to accommodate high rez displays, export an animation codec QuickTime with an alpha channel, bring the movie into Photoshop and save an animated gif from the movie. Much easier implementation too. Just use the gif as a roll over image.

  • Can't export with alpha channel - Again!!!,

So, I have an intro that is designed as an overlay of the incoming video. The objects move out the way to reveal the video underneath. BUT, when I export the sequence the resulting movie has black in the background.
Now, I had this issue several months ago, and after tons of research and trial and error, all of a sudden it worked when I came back to Motion on another project. No explanation. It just worked.
Usually, I have the background set to Transparent and then export using Lossless and Alpha. Works fine. Well, not today. I've changed every export setting under the sun trying variations of Lossless with Alpha and also tried the Animation codec. No luck.
So, what is going on? Any thoughts?

Thanks for your help Patrick. I tell ya, I can't believe what's going on. As I said, this project until today has not caused me any issues what-so-ever. The other six sessions are totally fine. I also created a quick project with the same settings added text - then exported using the same settings I've used before, and it exports with the proper alpha channel.
Yet, I rebooted the Mac, made sure to delete old versions in the trash can and everything. Still, no alpha.
To keep moving forward, I literally had to use a color key in FCP to cut out the background color.
    Crazy!

  • I want to export with alpha channel using a codec that carries less data than gopro cineform

Hi--I want to export some intermediate files with an alpha channel. i'm using gopro cineform, and these files end up being so large, meaning that i have to sit through hour long renders.  is there a a codec i can use that has an alpha chanel but creates a smaller file size?
    thanks

  • DNxHD (.mxf) export with alpha channel

    Hello!
I'm working with one Finnish children's feature film which will star end of this year as an DIT. Movie will include lot's of green screen and the production want's me to do chroma keyed DNxHD 36 renders with alpha channel for AVID editorial. So far I have found out that neither davinci desolve nor assimilate scratch can't do it.  Is it possible to render DNxHD with alpha channel from AE? And can Avid import these files with alpha channel? All help is needed and appreciated.
    Cheers

Are you sure your alpha is there? (check by pressing "a" with the mouse over the view window).
Did you try telling FCP that there is an alpha channel? If you did "Send to Shake", Final Cut Pro doesn't expect that the QuickTime it's getting back will contain an alpha channel (It's meant to match your sequence settings). You might try dragging the output directly into the browser to re-import it and see if it recognizes the alpha...
As a matter of fact, maybe you can check in QT Player, load it into QuickTime Player, cmd-j, click on the video track and play with the transparency setting. Try Straight Alpha - that should lead to the background going white - then you'll know its coming out of Shake properly and concentrate on getting FCP to recognize it...
If all else fails (I did just try it here and it worked), maybe try a TIFF or TGA sequence?

  • FLV files exported with Alpha have extra frames after end of sequence.

Sequence is 588w x 486h Animation+ codec, talent chroma-key (Conduit) on track 2 with no background on track 1. Flash 8 is installed. When I export using the QuickTime Flash export component using On2 VP6 with Alpha Channel settings, the resulting FLV has additional frames up to around 20 seconds for a 2 minute sequence. These additional frames are a freeze of the last frame in the sequence. I tried several different sequence codecs/Spark codec with same result. Even setting an In and Out on the sequence does not help.
One symptom I have noticed, is that when I click in the timeline beyond the last frame of video, I still see the last frame of video in the Canvas (But not in the BlackMagic video card output). Normally I would see black or checkerboard.
Anybody heard of any conflicts with the Flash Export component dircect from the timeline or via a batch export.
Exporting an Item Settings QuickTime (Animation+) files and then using Flash Encoder does work, but I am trying to avoid the extra steps. (250 sequences to export)
I suspect I have an issue with the export component, but I wanted to see if anybody else has experiences this before I reinstall FCP and Flash software.

I have found what I believe the cause of the extra frames issue here, so I thought I would post it for others.
This appears to be caused by a problem between the Adobe FLV Export Component and QuickTime 7.2.  Adobe's website says that Flash encoder has issues with non 44.1 kHz audio.  Changing the sequence settings to 44.1 and rendering the audio solves the problem and FLV files exported from the timeline or via batch export are the correct length.
Exporting FLV files using either Spark or On2 VP6 with alpha, used to be a breeze with awesome results.  I do this all day to support our Flash developers.  The audio issue is easy to work around, but I also get random errors in the alpha channel of these movies now.  These single frame errors appear as black flashes.  There is nothing in the timeline that would appear to cause this.  Re-exporting sometimes fixes it, or simply moves the error somewhere else in the timeline.    This may also be related to QuickTime 7.2, but I don't know.
If anyone has experience these flashes in the alpha channel of exported FLV files please let me know how you resolved it.  This is a major productivity killer.
    Thanks....

  • Flv export with alpha

    Hi everybody,
I'm having the hardest time trying to get an flv with transparency.
I have a series of numbered photoshop files. Each file contains one partially transparent layer (no mask), and when I open the files as an image sequence, the transparency looks good. However, when I export to FLV with Alpha enabled, my FLV doesn't seem to have an alpha channel.
Is there something I'm missing here?
    Thanks in advance,
    Brian

Try to export them as .png 24bit with alpha. Flash works well with PNG.

  • EXPORT WITH ALPHA CHANNEL

I need to know how to export a clip with the alpha channel intact. I keyed a green screen shot and exported it, but everytime i open it in final cut it has a black background. Need help asap it is the last shot I have to do for a music video that has to be done by monday, thanks.

  • Can't export with alpha channel

PROBLEM: No matter what export settings I use or manipulate I can't get the exported movie to have an alpha channel.
I've read several threads on this, and none of them solved my issue. Temporarily I just imported the Motion 3 project and used it as my overlay video - it's a title intro that slides out to reveal the video underneath it.
However, I'd prefer to create self-contained QT's as there are 7 sessions.
In After Effects I'd typically choose Animation and select 'using Straight Alpha'. Motion has a preset of Lossless + Alpha Movie, or you can go to advanced and select Output tab and deselect Pre-multiply Alpha. Neither works. The exported video still has black. What's totally insane is that I was using these settings up until today and everything was fine!
And yes, I've chosen 'Transparent' under the view options and still black is always included.

We do have an answer, it's usually a simple user error: not being able to tell the alpha is really there. If you're watching in QTPlayer, you will see black. If you open the movie in FCP, you should be able to change the alpha interp to suit.
Even if OPs claim to have tried this, it's still the first thing that comes to mind and, since the OPs rarely return to tell us what REALLY happened, we are left with the assumption that this was the problem all along.
If you set your render controls to Animation with millions of color + (many of us simply forget the PLUS) and we presume there is no solid shape or opaque layer (easily missed in Motion's weird timeline display) it is fundamentally impossible not to get an alpha.
Not to say it can't happen but I've been on support forums for AE, Media 100, FCP and others for more than a decade and I have never heard of the Animation codec actually failing. It is always user error or a broken application.
I hope you folks find a new and unique solution that we can add to the list. But this is the best we know to give you: Check and recheck the easy stuff.

  • Exporting with alpha channel and edges are ragged

I've got a short animation that is mainly a PSD of a map of NC with some animated push pins on it. I've got a local cable provider wanting an export of the animation with an alpha channel. He's using Premiere on a Mac, I'm on PC. No matter what codec I use that supports an alpha channel, the outer edge of the graphic of the State comes out ragged. Zooming in to the PSD in PhotoShop shows that the edge is antialiased, so I would imagine that this is what is causing the ragged edge on export.
Here's grab of the export. This is with QT Animation codec-quality 100, but the same results occur with DNxHD, Cineform, PNG, etc.

I think you are just seeing the extra areas of the fill.
If the output files works correctly in the editor, you should be good to go.

  • Program not showing in open with context for HTML files

    I have a windows 8.1 64 Pro PC with a program called 1stPage.exe installed.
When I right click a .txt file I get 'Edit with 1st Page' in the context menu and it also shows in the open
    with menu.
However HTML files do not show these options. I have checked the registry and it would appear that the program
is set up on the open with menu exactly the same for both file types.
So it would appear that something is blocking 1stPage from showing against HTML files but I can't figure out
    what I need to change.
    Cheers
    Baz

    OK we have further developments
I tried installing this program on a Windows 7 32bit machine and I get exactly the same issue.
I tried it with both IE and chrome as default browsers and I tried changing default html editor.
I therefore suspect this when this program installs it is not setting all the registry entries windows 7/8
    require.
I know it's an old program but I have been using it for years and see no reason to change.
So I need help in understanding what I need to do to get windows 7/8 to display the context menu entry correctly

  • Export with border for uploading

I am uploading non-standard size pictures for printing and they require pictures to be in one of their standard print sizes. They suggest creating a 'canvas' with Photoshop to place a white border around a non-standard size image so that it sits in one of the standard sizes. Is this possible with Lightroom? If so, how?

I'd think outputting to the exact size would be preferable. You can set up such in the Export dialog.

    Hi Pavan,
    Refer to this
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/HOME/Article-EmploySAPGUIforHTMLinsteadofanInternet+service
You need to modify the WEBGUI service for this.
In transaction SICF, Navigate to dafault_host->sap->bc->gui->sap->its->webgui.

  • RoboHelp for HTML 9 - Problem with viewing .chm file on 64bit machine

I am working with RoboHelp for HTML 9 on a 32 bit machine. Recently, we encountered problems when viewing a .chm file on a 64 bit machine. The TOC was fine, but the topics did not appear, only error message "Navigation of this web page cancelled". My compilation settings did not change since the last compilation some months ago. What happens?

Generally, I've only ever seen the need to ensure the CHM is unblocked if it has been downloaded from the web. I could see where it could possibly occur if one moved the CHM from a network drive to a local drive, but I'm skeptical that would be required in that case.

  • CC for roll over caption

    Hello,
First of all. I just discovered this forum yesterday and
already find it extremely helpful. Like some others I also miss a
extensive manual, trial and error is not sufficient to discover all
the functionality of the product, but this forum answers lots of
    questions.
    Anyway, my question:
I have been able to add audio to roll over captions, but also
need to include close captions for it, as part of my audience is
not able to hear the audio. So far I only have been able to include
CC for the slide, not for individual roll over captions on the
    slide.
Do I miss something, or is there a work around?
    Thanks, Helga

    Hi again Helga
A thought occurs here. You could instruct the user to click
for more information. Then the click would cause a jump to a
different slide where the audio played and closed captioning would
    appear.
Orrr, thinking outside the box a bit, you *might* be able to
get what you want by using the new Rollover Slidelet object. Here's
how it might work. Create a Captivate project that will only be
used to display inside the slidelet. Configure audio and closed
captioning, then publish as a .SWF. Then drop that .SWF into a
Rollover Slidelet as an animation object. I've not tested this,
just thinking out loud. But it may be worth trying. I may do that
    this evening...
    Cheers... Rick
