  • Output report data to excel file format or csv format

    Is there any way to save softcopy of report output to excel file format or csv format.

    Hi,
    Regarding csv file format, i have no issues. The file is generating without any issues in using oracle reports without using any PL/SQL code.
    My requirement is to design oracle reports to generate excel (.xls) file with multiple worksheets. Each sheets are having many data and graphs(chart).
    Using oracle reports alone, how to achieve this.
    In oracle reports 10g 1.2.0 version, I tried by creating .rdf file but, it is generating single worksheet only.
    In oracle reports 10g 1.2.0 ver, I tried by creating .jsp file. For this first i am creating excel template about how my ouput column headings all that going to be with one sample hard coded data and save the excel file as web page.
    Eg employee.html.
    Next open the html file in oracle reports builder and double click the websource now, you will see the jsp tags, html and xml tags. Now include the contentType="application/vnd.ms-excel " and charset also.
    Next, include the <rw:foreach id="G_EMPNO_1" src="G_EMPNO">
    here insert the fieldl for each column by removing the hard coded values.
    close the tag
    </rw:foreach>
    Save the file as .jsp and deploy it in oc4 enabled folder (say, devsuite_home/reports/j2ee/reports_ids/web
    Start the oc4J server
    Run it in the browser http://server:port/reports/emp.jsp?useride=uid/pwd@db
    It is invoking the Microsoft excel with 3 sheets default and my emp table output in the first page.
    We can save this output file as .xls file by clicking file -> save as.
    1) The question is, it is working fine with Microsoft excel 97-2003 version. But for excel 2007, i am not able to create single html file like how 2003 save web page option.
    2) I found this in oracle getting started demo
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/demonstrations/index.html
    Which is more useful. This is what i am looking for.
    I done that in excel 2003 as per demo. But excel 2007 with reports 10g issues.
    Is there any demo for 10g with excel 2007
    3) For most of excel issues working fine with excel 2003 and 10g. But excel 2007 with 10g reports are issues.
    I want the excel output from oracle reports with multiple worksheet similar to the above demo.
    Thank you.

  • I need how to load data from MS Excel(csv format) to NW Excel

    Hi,
    I am doing Migration project from SAP MS to NW Manually.
    I need how to load data from MS excel (csv format) to NW excel .
    For example 2008 budget data.
    Could you please help me in this.
    Thanks and Regards
    Krishna

    Hi,
    You need to create a transformation file and a conversion file if required. First upload the excel (csv) file into BPC using Manage Data and Upload File option.
    Create the transformation file (refer to the sap help  on how to define a transformation file). You need to specify the mapping correctly and include all your application dimensions and map them to appropriate columns of the flat file.
    Before running the import package, do validate the data in the flat file you uploaded into BPC with the transformation file you created.
    Thanks,

  • Remove Email Addresses From a Formatted Excel File

    I have an excel file that has some formatting in it that I
    would like to preserve (some cells have background color, etc). I'd
    like to remove a list of email addresses from this file. My first
    thought is to use cffile with action read, use the following in a
    cfloop: replace(emailAddressToDelete,
    excelFileVarCreatedFromCffileRead) and then save it back to excel
    format with cffile using action write. I tried this and the Excel
    file would not open. The error was:
    test.xls cannot be accessed. The file may be read-only, or
    you may be trying to access a read-only location. Or, the server
    the document is stored on may not be responding.
    I'm guessing something went wrong in the process of reading
    and writing the files contents and it's not as simple as I want to
    make it. Anyone have something to tell me that might help me remove
    email addresses from a formatted Excel spreadsheet?

    Yup, .xls is a proprietary encrypted file format and
    <cffile.... is not
    going to be able to successfully read and modify it's
    content. You can
    copy it or move it, but not modify it with <cffile...>
    If the file format was a plain text such as .txt or .csv you
    could do
    what you are thinking about, but then you would probably not
    have the
    proprietary excel formating in the file.
    I've heard about the POI library that allows some native
    Excel access
    and such, but I am not knowledgeable in its ins and outs.

  • Excel save as txt

    Experts,
    I have a client who wants to save reports to Excel. This works from SBO, the report is auto opened by Excel. If they close this it is saved to TXT. They want this to save to Excel instead of TXT format without them having to 'save as'.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks,
    Marli

    Hi Marli,
    Export to Excel function is always export file as text file. Only the macro in Autoopen.xls make it open and displayed in Excel worksheet. It has to be saved as Excel file before it closed.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

  • Writing BLOB column into a csv or txt or sql  files

    Hi All,
    I am having a requirement where i have to upload a file from user desktop and place that file into a unix directory. For this i am picking that file into a table using APEX and then writing that file in unix directory using UTL_FILE.
    The problem which i am facing is that after this every line in my file is having ^M character at the end.
    For this i modified my BLOB column into a CLOB column and then also i am facing the same problem.
    Is there any way to get rid of this as i have to upload these csv or txt files into tables using sql loader programs. i can;t write any shell script to remove ^M character before uploading as this program will be merge with existing programs and then it will require lots of code change.
    Kindly Help.
    Thanks
    Aryan

    Hi Helios,
    Thanks again buddy for your reply and providing me different ways.... but still the situation is i can;t write any shell script for removing the ^M. I will be writing into a file from CLOB column.
    Actually the scenrio is when i am writing a simple VARCHAR columns with 'W' mode then it is working fine, but i have a BLOB column which stores the data in binary format so i am converting that column into CLOB and then writing it into file with 'W' mode but then i am getting ^M characters. As per your suggestion i have to then again run a program for removing ^M or i have to modify all my previous programs for removing ^M logic.
    I want to avoid all these, and just wanted a way so that while writing into a file itself it should not have ^M. Else i have to go for a java stored procedure for running a shell script from sql, and in this still i am having some problem.
    Thanks Again Helios for your time and help.

  • SPRY using .csv or .txt file

    Hello,
    I am interested in any ideas on the best way to get Spry
    working with a .csv or .txt file? We sometimes have the misfortune
    <vbg> of having to take others files (.csv or .txt file) and
    display them in a table format without converting them.
    I looked at the raw data non-xml example but that is using
    some static data.
    Thanks in advance...
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
    You might want to take a look at my patched version of Spry,
    where I added JSON support to Spry. It's available here:
    Doug's Spry Patch.
    It would be pretty easy to add a CSVDataSet or a TxtDataSet
    using what I put in place there.
    However, please note, this is of course not officially
    sanctioned by Adobe, and I know they are working on a way to offer
    support for different kinds of data in the next version, so this
    might all get chucked out the window in the next round. But if you
    really need it now, then this might be an avenue you'd want
    to explore.

  • Formatting excel using 'SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1'

    Hi,
       I am having an issue in formatting excel content while sending as an attachment through a mail. I am using the FM 'SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1'. I am getting an excel output as an attachment with the mail, but I would like to do formatting too in excel like add straight lines or add color to headings. Is this possible ?? I tried searching for this solution but I ain't getting anywhere. Please help if you have got any.
    Regards
    Raj.

    Hey Guys,
                      Thanks for the help.. but it is not useful for me. I already said I am able to get the output in excel format with data in correct column headings. I just want an example or a link where the formatting of adding vertical lines between data and coloring of headings are done before attaching to the mail.

  • Convert contents of a formatted excel cell to HTML format

    Hi All,
    Background: I am writing a script that uploads some test cases written in excel into Quality Center. For those who are familiar with the QC Excel Addin, this script would do a pretty similar job except for reducing
    the steps involved. I'm using Office 2007 running on Win 7 Pro.
    Need: I have a situation where the contents of a formatted excel cell need to be converted to HTML tags representing the same formattin in the excel cell. For example a cell containg the text: "Verify
    if help topics in Macro section are
    hyperlinked" should be converted to
    <html><b>Verify</b> if help topics in <u>Macro section</u> are <i>hyperlinked</i></html>
    Question: Is there an inbuilt function in Excel/VBAn accomplish this? Or is a macro required? Any other ideas to accomplish this?
    Note: Whatever used for converting (an inbuilt function or a macro) should support new line characters and colors.
    Any help or redirection to solutions is appreciated.
    Thanks, John.

    Content:
    Goal
    Currently the CSV format in Agents always delivers the report results in tab delimited CSV. Is there a setting that can make the report result in a comma delimited CSV format when the reports are setup via Agents/iBots?
    Fix
    There is no setting that would make CSV output from an iBot be comma delimited as opposed to the tab delimited output from the web UI.
    There is an enhancement request for this functionality. for more information, see bug 13802667 - COMMA DELIMITED CSV FORMAT FOR AGENTS/IBOTS has been logged to include this feature in future release.
    As a work-around, you can to run a custom script from an Agent to convert tabs to commas. Hi All,

    How can I read/import data from excel / csv file in web dynpro table context?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks a lot
    Aakash

    Hi,
    Here are the basic steps needed to read data from excel spreadsheet using the Java Excel API(jExcel API).
    jExcel API can read a spreadsheet from a file stored on the local file system or from some input stream, ideally the following should be the steps while reading:
    Create a workbook from a file on the local file system, as illustrated in the following code fragment:
              import java.io.File;
              import java.util.Date;
              import jxl.*;
             Workbook workbook = Workbook.getWorkbook(new File("test.xls"));
    On getting access to the worksheet, once can use the following code piece to access  individual sheets. These are zero indexed - the first sheet being 0, the  second sheet being 1, and so on. (You can also use the API to retrieve a sheet by name).
              Sheet sheet = workbook.getSheet(0);
    After getting the sheet, you can retrieve the cell's contents as a string by using the convenience method getContents(). In the example code below, A1 is a text cell, B2 is numerical value and C2 is a date. The contents of these cells may be accessed as follows
    Cell a1 = sheet.getCell(0,0);
    Cell b2 = sheet.getCell(1,1);
    Cell c2 = sheet.getCell(2,1);
    String a1 = a1.getContents();
    String b2 = b2.getContents();
    String c2 = c2.getContents();
    // perform operations on strings
    However in case we need to access the cell's contents as the exact data type ie. as a numerical value or as a date, then the retrieved Cell must be cast to the correct type and the appropriate methods called. The code piece given below illustrates how JExcelApi may be used to retrieve a genuine java double and java.util.Date object from an Excel spreadsheet. For completeness the label is also cast to it's correct type. The code snippet also illustrates how to verify that cell is of the expected type - this can be useful when performing validations on the spreadsheet for presence of correct datatypes in the spreadsheet.
      String a1 = null;
      Double b2 = 0;
      Date c2 = null;
                        Cell a1 = sheet.getCell(0,0);
                        Cell b2 = sheet.getCell(1,1);
                        Cell c2 = sheet.getCell(2,1);
                        if (a1.getType() == CellType.LABEL)
                           LabelCell lc = (LabelCell) a1;
                           stringa1 = lc.getString();
                         if (b2.getType() == CellType.NUMBER)
                           NumberCell nc = (NumberCell) b2;
                           numberb2 = nc.getValue();
                          if (c2.getType() == CellType.DATE)
                            DateCell dc = (DateCell) c2;
                            datec2 = dc.getDate();
                           // operate on dates and doubles
    It is recommended to, use the close()  method (as in the code piece below)   when you are done with processing all the cells.This frees up any allocated memory used when reading spreadsheets and is particularly important when reading large spreadsheets.
              // Finished - close the workbook and free up memory
              workbook.close();
    The API class files are availble in the 'jxl.jar', which is available for download.

  • Problem While exporting HTML table to Excel(.CSV) in SharePoint 2010

    Hi,
    According to your post, a problem occurred when you exported the HTML table to Excel(.CSV).

  • Scheduled Excel/CSV output with 65k rows

    Hi Experts,
    I just wanted to confirm if in 3.1, can the scheduled excel/csv output handle >65 rows.  From what we've read, it is possible and we assumed that's thru manual run.  However, we aren't too sure if it is the same when scheduled.
    Kind Regards,
    Mark

    Hi,
    When the Webi excel output is > 65K rows, the 1st tab contains the 1st 65K rows and the rest goes to 2nd tab and forth and each tab has maximum 65K rows.
    However, there is a limitation on the total number of tabs can be created in a excel file during this conversion.  You will find out when you get there.
    Hope this helps,
