Exposé and Lion on MBA 2011

I have an MBA Lion 2011. The function that miss for me is the old Exposé. I have to do 4 steps instead of 2 for the same result on Snow Leopard.
Can Apple put in the choice of setting of Exposé. (windows of one application or windows of all the applications).
As is done for Dashboard (in Spaces or not in Spaces).

Expose was replaced by Mission Control in Lion, have you tried doing a 3 thinger swype up on the trackpad or pressing F4? I don't think apple is going to go back to Expose.

Su command won't work in MBA 2011 Lion 10.7.1

Hi All,
I have an iMac, 3 MBPs running Lion and Snow Leopard. In all of them, su command works just fine and of course I had no issues with them for many years.
I just bought a MBA 2011 and it came with Lion 10.7 which I updated to 10.7.1. The su command just simply refuses to work. It display 'su: sorry' as if I typed the wrong password.
1) I tried my own account password which is an administrator. Didn't work
2) Enable root account and set the password. Didn't work (I checked in my all other machine, don't need to enable root as the 'enable root' is still avaialable where as if it has been enabled only 'disable root' option will be displayed
3) Created another account (admin) also didn't work.
What did I miss here?

That's where deleted files normally go - to the Trash.

Check for updates by running MS Office Update directly from:
/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0/Microsoft AutoUpdate.app

Wiping SSD MBA (2011)

I have managed to Migrate data to new computer & drive. I wish to wipe the 256Gb SSD drive, reinstall Lion & upgrade to ML. I have a Lion thumbdrive, but I am unable to boot from the thumbdrive although it appears in Preferences/Startup Drive along with the internal SSD.
I tried putting the MBA into Target disk mode, but a MBA (2013) with ML does not see the disk, either on the desktop, as a device or using Disk Utility. Network reports the Thunderbolt connection as green.
I've paid for a copy of ML for a MBA (2011), but the installer shell never shows up on the desktop with an application that can be moved to a thumbdrive. I assume this is the "new, improved" Apple method of distributing software. Guess I can't wait for Mavericks!
Suggested methods to employ to achieve my goal could be??

After upgrading to Mountain Lion on my 2011 27" iMac, my Mac occassionaly locks up while using Safari, Mail or Dreamweaver and I have to d a force-quit, then restart my Mac. Anybody having similar probelms?
I am thinking about doing a clean install of Mountain Lion. Would I be able to restore my applications and data from Time Machine after the re-install?

My 24 inch iMac... 2.8 GHZ dual core (Early 2008) is having the same problem. After it sleeps, I go to use something... and the beachball of death occurs. This happens multiple times a day... and let me tell you... it is annoying... and I am the one who is being annoyed!
It could possibly be revolving around safari... as that is really the only thing that is running consistently. I don't use iTunes on this iMac as I have so many other Macs up and running in the house... and I never consume media on it... so I kind of dismiss iTunes being the culprit.
This is majorly affecting my Mac... in terms of reliability and uptime... which coincedently is the main reason why I switched to Mac in 2008. This is my only Mac that could upgrade to ML... so I don't know how widespread this is... but I hope that this problem can be solved...
I agree with another person who commented on this issue... do we really need a 10.8.1 update already... to fix this?

I search in the net, and also this sait, somebody say:
right click icon setup.exe, select properties , and check box windows 7
or
right click icon, select Troubleshoot compatibility, select windows 7

An unsupported OS using software not designed for that unsupported OS, probably going to be hard pressed to get concrete answers.

I have a MBP mid 2010, and after installing Maverics, the following apps will not launch, as in "not responding" when i try to launch them.

Photo Booth
Apple Script Editor
Color Sync Utility (did launch but after pressing the "Profiles" button, it crashed)
Grapher
Also struggling with streaming sites like Netflix, extremely slow launch the video (No network issues, tried on different network).
The problem isnt percistant, occasionally the programs will launch and work.
I have tried re-installing OSX. I sent the machine to apple service, where they told me my hdd was defective. So i bought a new SSD harddrive and installed Mavericks and i still have the same problem.
Does it sound like a hardware or a software problem?

App Exposé and limited gesture options - solutions please...

I have upgraded to Lion on my personal Mac, however...
I rely on easy access (1) to a desktop's open files regardless of where they are (2) or which application I am using to manipulate them (3).
(1) Lion forces you to use a (more awkward) pinch instead of a swipe for some of its features (eg. Show Desktop)
(2) Lion requires you to know whether a file is hidden or minimized before you can use the right gesture, and
(3) if the file is minimised Lion requires you to:
(a) select the relevant application,
(b) launch App Exposé and
(c) search for your file amongst other files that are not even open.
Thankfully I haven't upgraded my work Mac to Lion and will be happy to stay with Snow Leopard. And, for the first time I would be hesitant about recommending a Mac (with Lion) to friends.
Does anyone have any solutions to this issue?

I just discovered a program called "BetterTouchTool" that gives more control over gestures. It seems to do some of what Moom does too. At least Lion is getting me to look beyond the Mac App Store.
That helps with my first (1) issue, now I just need something to solve (2+3)...

Can I use MBA 2009 power cable on MBA 2011

I have a new MBA 2011 and i still have 2 power adaptors for my old MBA 2009. Can I use the old adapters on my new MBA?

Note: Adapters that shipped with the MacBook Air (Original), MacBook Air (Late 2008), and MacBook Air (Mid 2009) are not recommended for use with MacBook Air (Late 2010) models. When possible, use your computer's original adapter or a newer adapter.

Can't Install OS X Lion - MBP Early 2011

So I decided to do a fresh installation of Lion. I turned on my early 2011 MacBook Pro (which came with OS X Lion), held down Command-R, formatted the hard drive in Disk Utility and attemped to download OS X Lion. The download stops at around 5 - 10% with a message saying;
"Can't download the additional components needed to install Mac OS X."
The odd thing is, I've done this online recovery method once before. I was able to fully redownload/install Lion without any issues. This second time around I'm unable to do so for some reason.
What are some of the things I could try to get this download to work again?

Edit: I'm not sure what exact version of Lion I last had but I know for sure it was updated to the very latest. I check for updates almost every day.

WiFi only shows when there is no Ethernet cable connected and it shows during the Boot Process so you can chose and log in to your WiFi SSID.
1) Right you more then likely bought it with Lion Pre-Installed. But the Early 2011 models originally had Snow Leopard Pre-Installed until Lion came out. Early 2011 models were released in February 2011. Lion came out in June I think and then the late 2011 models came out in October. The the Early "Mid" year 2011 models came with both version of OS X, Snow Leopard and Lion. Depending on when it was manufactured.
2) if you already downloaded and installed Lion a week, or so, ago why are you doing it again? What problem did or are you having that is making you re-install?
Whatever that problem is may be the ROOT cause of the downloading problem you are now having. Like not being able to write to the drive. A HDD failure.
Do you have an external drive laying around? If so connect that external and point the download to that drive and see if it completes and then starts the install. Back up whatever is on that external.
If the download does complete and the install starts then you know it is a problem with the internal drive.

You aren't going to find much help with C++ debugging. While Apple's Clang has made great improvements in C++ support compared to GCC, C++ is really not something that Mac or iOS programmers typically use. The Cocoa containers and objects are so much more versatile. You kind of have to have a masochist streak and a 7 year development schedule to use C++. C++ is experiencing a bit of a resurgence, especially in defense markets. For a long time, compilers had such poor support for C++ that it just wasn't possible. After simplifying the language a little, compilers can now compile and link C++. Consultants have realized they can provide C++ services and burn though billable hours better than any other language on the market. Independent developer, however, don't have those schedules and budgets so they tend to use NSArray. Xcode supports it better in the debugg and, chances are, you don't need to debug it anyway. There are a number of matrix classes built on Cocoa.

My MBA 2011 keeps asking to restart. I have done this so many times and it keeps asking me at the log in page.
Can anyone help?

If you're getting the restart screen that has several languages on it, that's a kernel panic. A kernel panic is usually, but not always, caused by a hardware issue, with memory the leading cause. Since your MBA is a 2011 model, it's under warranty, so I'd take it to an Apple store for support.
