Exposé Show Desktop mouse+keyboard shortcuts

Hello!
Back in the Tiger days I used Sidetrack to replace my system's trackpad driver. I used it for two things:
1) Scrolling on the trackpad sides
2) Hot Corners: I had the top right corner set up for Expose (Show Desktop)
Now with Leopard, Sidetrack is not yet compatible but I've gotten used to the two finger scrolling and the two finger+click for the right click. One thing I really miss is the show desktop hot corner.
So my question would be...
Is there any app that can add a hot corner to the mouse trackpad?
Since the likely answer is not without losing the two finger scrolling, the second one would be whether it's possible to assign two keyboard shortcuts for the same action (Expose show desktop).
Currently I've set it up so that Command+"-" shows my desktop.. It's an easy key combo for my spanish keyboard .. but i wouldn't want to lose the F11 shortcut. Is there a way to set up both!?
THANKS!

I have a similar issue, in my case when I want to see all windows, it also shows the desktop right after showing all the windows... (As if I pressed both keys at the same time)
I've posted about it before and got nowhere. I can't track the source...
It's been happening a lot less lately and only on my Mac Pro never on my MBA...

  • Show Reading List keyboard shortcut does not work

The Show Reading List keyboard shortcut (shift-command-L) does not work in Lion Safari 5.1.

Problem has been fixed. I reported the bug to Apple from the Safari menu. Also, I had a different application that used the same keyboard shortcut for one of their hotkey's which I disabled. Then it worked fine. Shift-Command-L now shows reading list in Lion.

  • Exposé (Show Desktop) goes to spaces o.O why??

Ok so I have all my keyboard shortcuts set for spaces and Exposé on my MacBook Pro. Now I have F11 set as the Show Desktop Exposé shortcut. Yet when I press F11 it goes into Exposé (Desktop) then after automatically goes into the Spaces.
    _*My Settings:*_
    Exposé
    All Windows - +F12
    Application Windows - +F11
    Show Desktop - F11
    Dashboard - F12
    Spaces
    Activate Spaces - F1
Switch Between Spaces - Ctrl+Arrow Keys
Switch Directly to a Space - Ctrl+Number Keys
It happens as if I pressed F11 and F1 simultaneously.

  • Mouse/Keyboard Shortcuts no longer working

The mouse and keyboard shortcuts for Exposé, Dashboard and Spaces have stopped working. I have tried resetting the mouse buttons to the standard usages (Button 4 = Exposé; Button 3 = Dashboard), as well as the shortcuts for spaces but they still don't work. The F8-F12 keys are also defunct.
I have tried cleaning the mouse as advised on another part of the forum and have created a guest account to see if the problem still occurs - but everything works as it should. I have also repaired permissions and verified the disc just in case.
Are there any other suggestions that might help?

If it works in a new user then it is a preference file remove the com.apple.systempreferences.plist in your user. To do this go to ~/library/preferences

Is there any way to create a keyborad shortcut to show  in which playlist the current song belongs to?
Currently I can only do so by right-clicking on the song with the mouse

Skip that first click. Just right-click the song, and the menu will come up.
That saves you 33-1/3% of the effort.

  • Exposé active screen corners - keyboard shortcuts disappear

I use e.g. the command key shortcut for activating the active screen corners (in order to avoid that they are activated when the mouse pointer is accidentally placed in one of the screen corners). It works fine and ...then one day the command key setting disappears from the settings. The active screen corners do continue to work, but simply by moving the pointer to a corner without pressing the command key. Very frustrating. What's wrong?

Simply go into System Preferences > Expose & Spaces.
Select the dropdown for the appropriate corner, press the keys you want (cmd alt ctrl & shift are possible.)
Then select the action and let go.

  • Photoshop CS mouse+keyboard shortcuts

    Hello,
I use this cs5 release after years passed with photoshop 7, which is the best for me.
I try to find an option to change shortcuts but without success.
When I use brush, ctrl+alt+right click change the brush size and ctrl+alt+shift+right click change brush color.
For my productivity I need ctrl+alt+right click change the layer and ctrl+alt+shift+right click link layer.
    I can't switch every time between V and B...
Where can I change this or what the shortcuts for these actions when you are in brush mode????
In fact, I buy production suite for 1900€, and to use this, I have to change my system to seven x64 because of afterEffect......I have to change my ud1212 ultrapad because no 64bits driver exist, and photoshop is unusable??????????
It's probably the last time I buy adobe products.
Please help me for that, because I have to return on photoshop 7 if I can't do that....
    Thanks.

Believe me, I feel your pain, but most of us have come to realize that the ways of using software do change over time.
In your case a jump from Photoshop 7.0 to CS5 is 5 major versions.  With 5 major version releases of virtually any other product you'd find that there is no resemblance and you'd have to start all over in learning how to use it.  Adobe has actually done a decent job of trying to keep the UI consistent, and it also says the UI was pretty good to start with.
Personally I've purchased every upgrade of Photoshop over time.  The shock is less that way.
I don't know what to tell you besides encouraging you to try to get used to the new ways of doing things.  I doubt Adobe would consider removing the new brush gestures.
I'm a fairly old dog myself and I find that living with something new for a few weeks, forcing myself to try new things, and sometimes configuring "legacy" operations when possible, helps.  Of course then I find great frustration in going back and trying to use the old stuff, which doesn't offer the "new" ways!
    Best of luck to you.

  • Spotlight menu hidden behind menu bar in Leopard when "Show Desktop" Expose

The Spotlight menu is partially hidden behind the menu bar in Leopard when using "Show Desktop" (part of Expose). I tried using "Show Desktop" with keyboard shortcut keys and screen corners, and this behavior still exists. I tried toggling Spaces on and off, and the behavior still exists.
This has been an issue since day one of using Leopard, and on every bootup. It's absolutely reproducible, and this is a bug, unless someone can prove me wrong? (Hopefully, I'm wrong.)

    Fixed in 10.5.2.

  • IDCS3 Keyboard Shortcut confusion

I'm sure this is obvious, but I just can't seem to find the answer in help or online-- I've set my keyboard shortcuts to Quark 4; but when I try to use the function key shortcuts, (F7 to show/hide guides, for example), my Mac (MacBook Pro, 10.4.10) uses the Finder-defined shortcut-- so when I try to hide guides, I get Expose. Annoying!
    Thanks in advance for helping--
    Timothy

Go into your System Preferences->Keyboard & Mouse->Keyboard Shortcuts area and change the system shortcuts that are conflicting or turn them off. I turn off about 50% of them immediately upon setting up a new computer just because we will never need the universal access ones or the ones to move keyboard focus around.
However, I would strong recommend getting used to using the Expose shortcuts. They are particularly effective if you define them onto a 5-button mouse. All our mice in here have button 4 set to Show All Windows and button 5 set to Show Desktop. You can whip around through a pile of windows, or just get underneath them all a LOT faster after you do that.
(NOTE: You may have to go to the System Prefs->Expose area to define Expose mouse shortcuts, btw.)

  • Keyboard Shortcuts for Nested Menus

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v250/deb6404/AutomatorKeyboardShortcutExample. png
If you take a look at the above screenshot, you'll see that there are a couple automator functions I've added as plugins in Finder.
They work great when I use them, but I can't seem to get a keyboard shortcut to work. When I assign them by name (System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Keyboard Shortcuts -> Application Keyboard Shortcuts -> Finder, then add a new one) it puts a shortcut next to it as though it should work.
But it doesn't. If I navigate to the Automator menu in Finder as show below, the keyboard shortcut WILL trigger.
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v250/deb6404/AlmostWorkingAutomatorKeyboardSho rt.png
But accessing it with just the file selected, Finder doesn't seem to want to access the nested menu.
How do you add a nested Finder menu to Keyboard Shortcuts?
    Thanks!

What you want would be very handy, but I don't think it can be done. AFAIK the menu shortcuts that you can add are for those in the menu bar, not the Contextual menu, I was astonished that it even FOUND the contextual menu and started displaying a "shortcut" for it, not in the least bit surprised that the putative shortcut didn't work. You probably want some sort of shareware application like Spark or QuicKeys. Spark is free and I liked it in Tiger, don't know if it will work in Leopard, and is free. QuicKeys is, I think, rather pricey.

  • Application Keyboard Shortcuts

Hi, this section of the Keyboard prefpane isn't saving the values for me across sessions. From other articles, it looks like it should
What I mean is that the plist files get updated with the new NSUserKeyEquivalent values and the new shortcuts work, but the next time I go into the prefpane, it doesn't show the items I've added. This way, I can't modify added items. I gotta add again, which I'm guessing would screw up my old entries
    Should this be happening? Thx!

Very same situation here! I want to change ormat > Quote Level > Increase / Decrease shortcuts but when I did that on System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts it affect just Format > Indentation > Increase.
I google for it for about an hour and didn't find nothing except third party (and paid) apps. If someone out there know hot to setup nested and duplicated entries using Leopard's own Keyboard Shortcus, please let us know! I will be glad to pay you a couple of beers for that!

  • Turning on/off airport with keyboard shortcuts

i read about a method, in a book, to toggle airport on and off by inventing a shortcut for it. i think it was something like system preferences>keyboard and mouse>keyboard shortcuts>+. the book said type the command exactly as it appears in the menu bar, so in this case, Turn AirPort On, and then you designate the shortcut, by pressing the desired keys. ive done that and they show up in the top right drop down menu, but when i press the keys the shortcut doesnt work. can anybody think what i am doing wrong?

hi guys, sorry for the late reply. i was looking for the page reference to the book i found the shortcut instructions in. im fairly sure it was from the rough guide to osx, which i bought at an applestore in london about two weeks ago; it is the only osx book i have. it was either from there or from some random website. i guess ill just forget it, i wanted it for battery management, so you can turn the airport on and off to save the battery, and its kind of annoying to keep using the dropdown menu for that.
anyway, thanks alot for taking the time to reply. do you think if anybody wrote to apple about the fact that it might be a bug, they would take any notice?

  • System Wide Keyboard shortcuts

F5 on my macbook (in any application) opens a 'Quick Task Entry' window.
( I am not sure where this behaviour comes from but I suspect it was from one of any number of apps I have tried out over the years).
I would like F5 to do nothing.
In the System Preferences>Keyboard & Mouse>Keyboard Shortcuts, there is no 'mention' of F5 and this action. Other applications (like Things) also create System Wide shortcuts that do not show up in this window.
How can I change this F5 behaviour?
    Thanks.

Thanks Tim, you're a genius. That gave me the clue.
The new user 'test' does not have the F5 behaviour problem.
Therefore I checked through my list of login items, and found that it was 'Contactizer Pro' that used F5 to add a Quick Task.
Changing that default stopped the problem.
(The reason this is an issue is that I have a new Kensington Wireless Presenter, and it appears that pushing the laser pointer button also sends an F5 keystroke (for some reason)- which would stop my Keynote presentation and open the 'Quick Task' window!)

  • Keyboard Shortcut for comments

I have a question and something to share.
Turns out it's pretty easy to add a keyboard shortcut for
adding ColdFusion comments (mostly so that you don't have to click
on the comment dropdown and select the ColdFusion one, that's 2
clicks). You can add a keyboard shortcut to that Insert Comment
command. But by default it inserts HTML comments. So if you want it
to do something different you can modify this file: C:\Program
    Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver
    CS4\configuration\Objects\Text\Comment.js
The bad news is, I can't find a way to add a shortcut to
Remove Comment. Does anyone know how to do that?

    Jon
Not that I know of but you can make your own keyboard shortcuts for anything that is in a menu somewhere:
+System Preferences > Hardware > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts > Application Keyboard Shortcuts > All Applications > click the little plus sign under the window > Application: > Other > browse to Applications/iWork/Pages > Menu Title > Show Comments (type exactly including U&lc) > hit cmd shift c (or whatever you want)+
Since the shortcut works on the literal text, it will not toggle on and off. You will have to have another shortcut for +Hide Comments.+
