Exposing all user folders in admin view??

I have an New Imac running mountain lion.  I have 5 users including myself, where I am the admin.  How do I see all of their user folders when I am logged in?  My finder only shows my document folders no one else's.

With the default permissions, which you shouldn't change without a very good reason, you can't open the Documents folders of other users, even as an admin.
If you do have a very good reason, add an entry for yourself to the access list in the Finder Info window.

I just found that all of my user accounts were given Admin. I cannot set the Parental controls for my kids. I am unable to uncheck the "Allow user to administer this computer". It is greyed out for all users.
    Has anyone else seen this?

I just tried deleting one of my kids' accounts and recreating it and Admin still shows up in the group, and allowing admin is still greyed out.

  • Access all users folders on MS Exchange Server

Using the javax.mail class, I can establish a Session, connect to a Store and retrieve all messages from INBOX folder. With this approach I must know the username/password to do the connect.
What I really want to do is to access the INBOX folder for all users without knowing the username/password. Is there a way to do this? Can I configure the MS Exchange Server to include a special user and use that username/password to access all other users mailboxes? Any suggestion would be helpful.

Let me just paraphrase what you just wrote.
"MS Exchange has security that prevents me from reading other people's e-mail unless I know their passwords. How can I break this security?"
Apart from whether this is legal or ethical at all, what sort of security would it be if you could just do something simple to avoid it?

  • How can I have only a specific smart folder in Finder displayed in coverflow and all other folders in icon view?

There are a couple of smart folders actually that i want in coverflow mode only, but the rest i want in icon view. Is there a way to do this? i thought i had it figured out, but then it would revert back to the icon view for everything.

Open one of the folders that keeps changing. Set it to the view mode you prefer. Press Command-J (Show View Options in View menu).
At the top of the View Options screen is an item which allows one to set "Always open in xxx view". Chekmark that.
Repeat for each folder you want.
This is a per-folder setting. Note that the View Options screen is 'live" - you can leave it open, and as you open successive folders it will display the settings for each in turn.

  • Migrate all user folders/files except Library

Having a problem with one user account.
I have erased and reinstalled Lion then migrated two other users.
Best way to copy all the regular folder (Documents, Movies, Photos, etc. what you see in Finder) and get the permissions correct?
Then what about specific items such as Mail, keychains, 1Password?
Using iCloud so all that is fine.

Currently, it is my main account.
In iTunes with Home Sharing enabled, I cannot see any of the shared content on my iPhones and iPad.
I can select the Shared library but nothing is displayed.
Works fine on other boot drives.
I did and erase and install then migrated everything back.
First logged into another account and everything worked peachy.
As soon as I logged into this account and fired up iTunes, can't use the Shared library on the iDevices.
Quit iTunes and logged into the other accounts abnd it no longer works.
    Apple TV 2 works fine.

  • How to set up Windows with Reader and certificate for all users

    Good afternoon (GMT),
we're dealing with a Win XP (SP3) system that is set up by an Administrator. One task is to set up the system in a way that all users (w/o admin rights) become able to read a certified-protected PDF. Currently we know a way to install the "public key" for this certificate only for one known user. But how to proceed when not all users are known? The users shall later on never be asked to confirm the certification installation/registration.
If it helps, here is the software version:
Acrobat 8.12 to encrypt the PDF via certification. In near future I will switch to Acrobat 9.x
    Reader 7.x and/or 8.x on customer PCs.
Thank you for ideas and hints.
BTW: Next time we want to provide a solution for Win7 systems, too.

  • How To Restric all kind of access to 2 specific tables in SQL Server for all Users.Instead of table we would like users to go through View.

    Hi All,
I am looking at an Technical solution for Restricting the direct access some specific tables in my data base  to all the users(Except admins and few Service accounts). However views created on top of these tables would be exposed to all Users.
Could any one help me with the best solution.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Raja Suri

    Hello,
You can try to create a new role "Client_User" in the database and deny access to the new role on the specify tables. And then add all user which you want to restricting the direct access the specific tables to the database role.
    For example:
    Use Database
    CREATE ROLE [Client_User] AUTHORIZATION db_securityadmin;
    DENY SELECT ON OBJECT::schema.table TO [Client_User] ;
    EXEC sp_addrolemember 'Client_User', 'username';

  • Changing all folders to List view in Finder: How to?

I'm trying to accomplish what I assumed would be a simple task...
I want the view of every folder, when opened in the Finder, to be List view. All new folders... all the existing folders... everything.
I want it to forget all about any current settings or other defaults, and force everything into List view.
Is this possible? I'm perfectly willing to dive into the Terminal to delete .DS_Store files or perform whatever brutality needs to occur.
    Thanks!
Mac Mini Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Derek,
Ah, I think I see your problem now. Actually, you are dreaming of the one thing that is, in fact, difficult. You see, every new folder is created (and will always be created, no matter what we do) with Icon View set as the default. This can be overidden by selecting "Always open in Column View," which doesn't necessarily force every window to open that way, but goes a long way towards achieving that end (over time, it works).
Forcing every window into list view is a little more difficult. It is simple enough to make all of your own folders show this view, as only a single "tease" should be necessary for a folder that you own (you can just get in the habit of making this change each time a new folder is created, which normally isn't that often for most of us). Any changes we make to our own folders should "stick" as a matter of course.
The problem is getting all of the root-owned folders to which we navigate frequently to do the same. You probably went a long way toward achieving that end by simply deleting all of the .DS_Store files. The .DS_Store file for a particular folder will be owned by the first user to navigate that folder in the Finder. If that user is you, you will own the file, not root. So, having deleted those files, you gave yourself the opportunity to "assume control" of those directories. Keep in mind that if the folder is owned by root, with a group ownership of "admin," you must be an admin user to be able to write a .DS_Store file to that directory. I assume that you are using an admin account(??).
At this point, I would suggest that you just start navigating your file system and changing directories. If you did not do so as root after having deleted the .DS_Store files, you should be able to make the necessary changes as yourself. Provided you have assumed control of the .DS_Store files, you should only have to make changes once.
Of course, you will still have to click that little button one time for each new folder you create. Apple has gone a long way toward making the interface as flexible as possible (nobody else does it as well, mind you), but as they say, "you can't make everybody happy all of the time." It is an ideal only to be strived for, never to be reached.

  • Adding a domain user to the admin role within the local user management breaks all metro apps for all users!!

    Hi,
I have posted this in another large thread under the "Windows 8 General" group but have not had any appropriate feedback from MS.
After hours of testing and working with other users I have managed to isolate a simple situation that breaks all metro ui applications within Windows 8 for all users on the machine. Here are my exact steps and notes.
Before continuing if you are running Avast then your solution may be to turn of the behaviour shield functionality as this also breaks metro apps. This is NOT the problem we are having!
I have performed 3 cleans installs after isolating the problem and am able to reproduce the issue every time using the same steps on two different machines.
First thing to say is that for us it has nothing to do with simply joining the domain, domain/group policies nor does it appear to have anything to do with the software we installed, the problem here is much more simple but the result is pretty terrible.
Here are my exact steps of what I did to reproduce our problem:
Complete format of HDD in preperation for a clean install
    Clean install performed
Set up the machine initially with a local account
Test metro apps - all working fine
Open control panel from the desktop, click on System, change the system to join the domain, click reboot
Log into the system using my domain account
Test metro apps - all working fine
Here's were the problem starts. I need my domain account to have admin rights on the local machine so I can install programs without the IT men having to come over and enter their password every 5 mins.
I go to control panel via the desktop and click on User Accounts. From with here I then click on "Manage User Accounts". This requires the IT guys to enter their details to give me access to such functionality. This is fine
In the dialog box that opens I can only see the local user that was initially created during setup. The "Group" for this local account shows as "Administrators" - Image included below (important to note that metro apps are working at this point)
I click add and then add my domain account - also giving it administrator access
Sign off or reboot to ensure the new security is applied
Sign back in to the domain account
    Test metro - ALL BROKEN
    Sign out
    Sign in as local account
Test Metro - NOW ALL BROKEN FOR THIS USER ALSO
So as soon as I add my domain account to the local user accounts and set it as admin it breaks all metro apps for all users. This is on a totally clean install with nothing at all installed other than the OS.
Annoyingly if I go back and change the domain account to a standard user or if I totally remove the domain account from the local account management system the problem does not go away for either user. basically it is now permanently broken. The only fix I
could fathom was a full re install and not giving the domain user admin access to the local  machine.
Screen one - this is the local user accounts window AFTER joining the domain and logging in with my domain account (All metro apps working at this point)
Screen 2: User accounts AFTER joining the domain and AFTER adding domain account to local user management (METRO BROKEN)
I have isolated my machine from all group policies so nothing like that is affecting me. Users I have spoken to in different companies have policies that automatically add users to the local user management. This means that metro apps break as
soon as they join the domain which leads them to wrongly think it is group policies causing the error. Once they isolate themselves from this they can reproduce following my steps.
    Thanks

    Hi Juke,
Thank you for the response and apologies for the delay in getting back to you. My machine was running a long task so I couldn't try your suggested solution.
I had already tried running the registry merge suggested at the top of the thread to no avail. I had not tried deleting the OLE key totally so I did that and the problem still exists. I will post all the errors I see in event viewer below. For
your info, since posting my initial comment I have sent out my steps to 7 different people and we can all reproduce the problem. This comes to 10 different machines (3 of them mine then the other guys) in 3 different businesses / domains. We see the same errors
    in event viewer.
Under "Windows Logs" --> "Application" : I get two separate error events the first reads "Activation of app winstore_cw5n1h2txyewy!Windows.Store failed with error: The app didn't start. See the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log for additional
information." The second arrives in the log about 15 seconds after the first and reads "App winstore_cw5n1h2txyewy!Windows.Store did not launch within its allotted time."
Under "Windows Logs" --> "System" : I get one error that reads "The server Windows.Store did not register with DCOM within the required timeout."
Under "Applications And Services Logs" --> "Microsoft" -->  "Windows" --> "Apps" --> "Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational" : I get one error that reads "Activation of the app winstore_cw5n1h2txyewy!Windows.Store for the
Windows.Launch contract failed with error: The app didn't start."
If you require any further information just let me know and I will provide as much as I can.
    Thanks

  • How to set up help desk to view and reset password for all users?

    Hello,
I am on OIM 11.1.2.1.0 and would like to assign the helpdesk role to a small group of users.  I created an organization ORG1 and ORG2.  They have the parent organization as "Top".  I have a user USR11 and USR12 that belongs to ORG1 and USR2 that belongs to ORG2.
I would like USR11 to be able to see all users in ORG1 and ORG2.
I assign the User Viewer admin role of the Top organization to USR11.  After logging in to OIM as USR1, I could see users USR11 and USR12 (same organization) but couldn't see USR2 (different organization).
How can I configure OIM so that user USR11 will be able to see all users?
If I add the User Viewer admin role for both organizations ORG1 and ORG2, then it worked.  But I thought with the admin role of the Top organization, this will allow the user USR11 to be able to see all users.
    Thanks
    Khanh

    Hi,
You can achieve everyone can see each other by providing User Viewer admin role to each user under each organization present in ur OIM.
Thats the only way supported in OIM 11g R2. APIs are present for this and you can automate it.

  • Manual bypass to view all history entries of all user for one report

Test have been performed on standealone BIP 10.1.3.4.1 (Patch 11931697). May be it can be reproduced with previous versions and/or other J2EE container.
Problem is now described in Oracle Support with bug ID : 12412334
Bypass solution may be helpful for people who use work directly in BIP web interface or who integrate this web interface using HTTP URLs or HTTP/REST like custom app (and may be other cases...)
When logged with an admin username, you can view OR filter "ALL" history of one all users for one report by typing an url like :
    http://BIP/xmlpserver/servlet/reporthistory?report_url=/REPORT_DIR_PATH/XDO_NAME/XDO_NAME.xdo&tfilter=all
    Where :
    BIP is BIP Server DNS
REPORT_DIR_PATH is report directory path in BIP web interface
    XDO_NAME is report's name

I don't think there is a way. There should be, but I've never seen it.

  • How do I do this?: users are not able to change how the calendar interface looks, a central authority (admin or other) must be able to shedule events into the calendars of all users.

First off my advice is not to use your Mac as an Administrator only provide Admin Password when your Mac requests and only when your "Child" is not in the room!!!
It is all to do with Permissions:  Login as an Administrator click on Go in the menu bar, Select Computer, Select Macintosh HD, Select Users Select the User Folders you want to look at you will see a series of folders with red circles highlight each one in turn and Get Info unlock the Padlock in the Info pane then add Administrator to Read/Write
After this I hope you and your Son stay friends for many years

  • Emptying all users' temp folders

    Hello everyone
Right now we're having problem with low disk space on Terminal Server. Actually we have applications which
help us to get rid of all temp files easily, I mean without going to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp and deleting files manually These are
    Profiles Scanner
    ICSweep
But these applications cannot remove any item just because I do not have permission to Edit this folder
inspite of fact I’m belonging to Domain Admins group. I can break security of a userfolder, but it is quite time consuming. There're about 700+ userfolders in  C:\Users\ folder. Moreover, we have a lots of trojan name "DWH****" (**** is
random number, like 3D25, 5C68). And this file seems duplicate itself into different name and that's why we have low disk space error on our Terminal Server.
So my question is How do I empty C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp folder without changing the security
on userfolders? I tried to empty through GPO (Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Folders) but I couldn’t get this work.
              Thanks in advance

    Hi,
As per my research, you can try some script to delete all users’ temporary files\folders. For that providing you script link which you can use and modify as per your requirement. Please refer below article for detail information.
    1.  Delete Temp files
    2.  What is the Command to Delete Temp files for all User profiles in a Local
    3.  Use PowerShell to Clean Out Temp Folders
    Hope it helps!
