Express card slim card

Hello all - I'm trying to find a slim (hides inside) USB express card for my MacBook Pro. I've found several that fit and extend outside the computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Joe

Ok. So, I found some drivers that actually worked with OSX. ( http://www.lacie.com/more/index.htm?id=10112 ) The express card that I actually purchased was made by Syba and only had Windows drivers available ( http://www.sybausa.com/productInfo.php?iid=1011 ). My computer is now able to use this card. I haven't tried the 3.0 functionality only because I don't have a USB 3.0 device. However, in order to use the port it needs power from an external source. This was actually key to help solving the issue. My monitor happened to have 4 USB ports and supplies power to my additional devices. I sure do wish the express slot was able to power USB devices. Regardless, thanks to all who replied. - Joe

Airport Express as wifi card for Xbox Live, then connect to Extreme network

My son just got xbox Live and we're trying to use Airport Express as wifi card for xbox (connected to xbox via ethernet). We use Airport Extreme as router for the house.
We're having trouble setting up Xbox Live, keep getting stuck at getting the xbox to communicate/access the web. Error reads "can't obtain IP address from router... make sure DHCP is enabled and has a large enough address range for all devices on network.. also make sure MAC filtering allows your console's MAC address or is disabled... "
We dont' know what else to do. I'm at wit's end before giving Gates $100... Anyone know how to get connected?

You can also perform a simple test to verify if you have an internet connection at the ethernet port on the AirPort Express.
Move a laptop near the Express, turn off the wireless on the laptop, and connect to the Express using an ethernet cable. See if you can open your browser and get a good solid internet connection.
If you can, the Express is setup correctly and you know that you have an internet connection reaching all the way to the Xbox.
If you can't then there is a configuration error somewhere and it will need to be identified and corrected.

American Express Prepaid Gift Card

I dont understand, paypal clearly states that you can use the American Express prepaid gift card. Even in the post where they announced the granted use of them, the card was in the picture. Yet, I can not pay for items with the card through paypal. All I ask is, why?

Maybe iTunes doesn't use Amex? Is there a number on the back of the card to call and verify your balance? You may want to do that first to verify there is money on the card.
If there is, I am not sure if you can do this with a gift card to a gift card, but you might try going to a retailer that sells iTunes gift cards (Walmart, Best Buy, Target, etc.) and use your Amex Gift card to buy an iTunes gift card. Now use the iTunes gift card to purchase iTunes Music Store content.

If it is in your itunes on your computer, then select it to sync just like everything else that you sync.
The music must be on your computer.

Unable to read SD cards, CF cards, etc with windows 8. Windows 7 and before work

Hi everyone,
One strange thing I've found with Windows 8.1 is that if I try to access a SD card, micro SD card, CF card, or similar, I get an error that says something about you need permission to access this. I've tried giving myself permissions, but it still doesn't work.
The SD card is from a digital carmera.
The microSD card is from my Android device.
The CF card is from my Nikon D70.
The odd thing is they all work in windows 7 and before.
Added oddity: if I plug my android into the computer and browse that way when the device comes up, I can access it.
This is happening on any windows 8.1 machine (pro/enterprise)I've tried it on. I've googled the issue but have found no resolution.
Has anyone else seen this?

Windows 8.1 64 bit OS. Dell box shipped with Windows 8 and upgraded to 8.1 via the Windows store. As stated in original post, computer is Dell XPS 8700, I7 cpu with 16 gbs of RAM.

Problem with Virtual Credit Card Master Card

I bought Virtual Credit Card Master Card and put its number and security code. Then I bought Pages, Keynote,GT Racing and some other apps. They have successfully downloaded and I can use them. But money from the credit card didnt removed (??) !
When I entered iTunes from my PC I saw this letters: "We were unable to authorize your credit card for this purshase. Please update your billing ifo. Amount you owe: 31.93 $" But I entered all true (I checked), but i have only 27 $ on my credit card and I can not fill up it (it's a virtual card) Can you take the money that I have now on my credit card? Then I'll buy another and repay debt. Now i can't buy anything from AppStore (Even free), but I can use all apps (Pages, Keynote,GT Racing) I bought. (but money from the credit card didnt removed!!!)
How to pay this bill and use app store? Please, help me!

Setting default sound card to card 0

Hi,
After following Arch Wiki for configuring Alsa I added the following to my /etc/asound.conf:
efaults.pcm.card 0
defaults.pcm.device 0
defaults.ctl.card 0
This works on my current session. However, sometimes when I reboot my computer, my primary sound card that my speakers are connected to, becomes card 1 and I have to update this setting to get my sound card working. Also, noticed that Chromium always look for card 0. That is, if my primary sound card is detected as card 1, I won't be able to play videos on youtube, neither using Flash or HTML 5.
Any idea how I can dictate my system to set my primary sound card as card 0?

If both soundcards use different modules you can use e.g.
#/etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf
options snd slots=snd-hda-intel,snd-cmipci
or
#/etc/modprobe.de/sound.conf
options snd-hda-intel index=0
options snd-cmipci index=1
which both do the same.
If both soundcards use the same module you have to do something like
options snd-hda-intel index=0,1 id=SB,HDMI
(See modinfo of your sound module for suitable parameters like id, vid, pid, etc)

Client wants to use pcards as part of the procurement process. They are planning on implementing ECC. If we use standard Preq and PO functionality, can we use Pcards? If so, what is the process flow?

   PCard is a visa or master card credit card that offers alternative procurement, issued to an individual and the individual is responsible for its use and may be personally liable if the card is misused.
Functional Flow
    1. Create Purchase requisition ( can go for a custom doc type if required)
    2. Create Purchase Order ( Here the vendor is the Bank)
    3. Purchase with Credit Card.
    4. After goods are received Post the GR against PO.
    5. Card holder receives the bank statement
    6. Statement is sent to accounting office where it is reconciled.
    7. Post the invoice.
    8. Pcard issuer (Bank) is Paid.

Here would be the expected postings as an accountant when the security deposit is made:
Debit Cash
Credit Liability
When security deposit is released, then the following should occur:
Debit Liability
Credit cash
So to me the assumption that it shouldn't post to the bank clearing account is incorrect; it should as cash transactions are occurring, right? I recommend documenting the requirements with the accountant.

My assumption is because you aren't setting the account properly. You can't set up an Apple ID and then try to use it without a credit card unless you follow a very specific procedure which you obviously did not do.
You have to try to download a free app first - before you set up the ID - and then create the ID from the prompts. You set the ID up first and it doesn't work that way. You will have to either enter a credit card now and then delete it later, or start all over again with a new ID. If you start all over again, you have to sign out of the current ID in Settings>Store - tap your ID and sign out. You will also need another email address because you already associated your email address with the first ID.

As I said, this is my assumption, if there is something else going on here, post back with something more detailed other than "why is Apple requiring ...." We can't possibly know why you can't do without some more information to go on.

You press on the itunes store, scroll down and look for a category that says "top free apps" placed at the bottom on the right. you press on the button "free" as if you want to download it and a small window opens. you press on the "create apple AD" and you fill in your information. when you get to the card part you press on the None. send me a message if you are still stuck.
