Express with WPA D-Link 624

Can't figure out why this won't work. Hope someone can help.
New AP Express with existing D-Link Network-Cable modem. Just want the Express to stream music to my stereo rec. iMac G5 is connected vie ethernet cable from d-link hub. Have 2 pc laptops connected to the network wirelessly no problems.
Express won't connect wirelessly, so I figure I must have to connect directly to hub to configue. Express shows up in Airport admin utility, I choose "join a network" chance security to WPA and enter the password 2x. update and resart Express.
Lose connection, can't get back in to Express at all.
Apple makes great plug and play products...I can't believe this would be this difficult.
imac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

You can make the Express show up wirelessly again by performing a hard reset on it: hold down the reset button until the LED flashes rapidly. You can then use either Airport Admin Utility or Airport Setup Assistant to set it up.
I'm not sure why it won't connect. Have you checked to make sure you have the latest firmware in the Express and router?

  • Windows does not connect to Airport Express with WPA-Enterprise

    Hey,
we are using some AirPort-Express stations at our office to provide a wireless network to our staff.
The APs use WPA/WPA2-Enterprise (linked to a RADIUS-Server) to check the users authority.
On Macs and iOS devices the connection to AP works fine but if we try to connect a Windows client, Windows shows up the login-screen, checks the password (if you try a wrong password it shows the login-screen again) but then it says that no connection is possible. We also tried it on another laptop (both using Windows 7 Professional), but it still does not work.
    Can anybody help us?
    Thanks!

This issue is often caused by Windows firewall, and sometimes caused by wireless interfernece. Try disabling the firewall or other anti-virus software. You can also directly connect you AE to your computer via ethernet to access the configuration.
If all else fails, you have hard reset the AE device and reconfigure.

  • Setting up airport express with a d-link dir 655 router on xp

I bought a new router and would like to setup my old AX to use it to stream music. I installed the airport utility which seems to find my device but I can't connect to it - via my router or the airport utility. When I select select manual or continue I get a 60 second or so delay and then it returns to the same screen - "airport utility found an apple wireless device with default settings."
    Wireless Network ebxxxx
    Airport ID: 00:11:xxxxxx
Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? My laptop is plugged into the same router that my AX is. I've tried what I believe to be a soft and hard boot with the AX but so far no luck.
    Thanks
    Chris

AS far as I am aware only the devices listed at the top of this page do UPnP
    http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=1996&question=UPnP
On some, such as the 624 listed here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93333 (See note 2) it actually doesn't work with a Mac properly.
The pics of the Menus on this page http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DIR-655/iChat.htm suggest it does not have UPnP
The item in the menu "Application Rules" looks like a possible name for Port Triggering (A way of allowing Multiple computers use the same ports)
However it does not seem to be listed in the Port Forward Triggering guide list

  • Airport Express as a client on a D-Link 624 WPA2 network

    Hi everyone!
I took the plunge and bought an iPod and I'm totally hooked.
Then I got an Airport Express. I had some issues getting it connected as a client, so I tried it with no encryption or security whatsoever (not even WEP) and it worked brilliantly. I played music on my wireless windows laptop and on my living room stero and it was great.
However, I can't get the warm & fuzzies about running my network with no security. I'm not wedded to my router (d-link 624) but after 10 days of futzing with it, I'm ready to give up. I have tried WPA with AES and TKIP, both no dice. I haven't tried WEP because I don't think it's much better than nothing.
I have googled until I could google no more and while I see whisperings of people with these issues, I've yet to find a solution or a clear report from someone that has it working.
I'm quite experienced in setting up wired and wireless networks, this is not new to me.
Has anyone been able to get this setup working?
Any tricks I should know about?
I'm using a 63 character ASCII password, randomly generated. At first it was full of punctuation and symbols, then I changed to one with only alphanumerics, still no dice.
In my router logs I see, "Wireless PC connected" followed by the Airport's WiFi MAC address, then "authenticating...". Those 2 messages are repeated every 10 seconds.
Airport is running firmware 6.2 and the airport utility on Windows is 4.2
Any help appreciated from this budding Apple fan - thanks

I have an D-Link DI-524 working with a Airport Express. I try someday WPA security for my network and this had made my wireless network unreliable.
I found on the D-Link website an information stating that D-Link product must use WEP-128bit HEX to be compatible with Airport Product.
Since now, it work perfectly using this security. You should try this. And beside, I do not agree that WEP isn't better than nothing. How many people know how to hack a WEP-128bit wireless network within you wireless range? If you have no security at all, for sure, someone will use your connection one day.
But still, even better than any security, if you can reduce the power of the wireless signal to the minimum you need, it will reduce as well any chance for someone to hack you.
But still, I think you should try WEP in your setup. Good luck,

  • ORACLE EXPRESS: build a page with multiple forms linked to one table

    hi,
im using oravle application express. APEX
i would like to build a page with multiple forms linked to one table (orders) , the page has 4 from  each one with different order_id number (depending on filtering),  and if the order is prepared click yes for each order and this 'YES' should be UPDATED AND SAVED to each order number in the same table with the press of one button.
i created all the form as (sql query)
    and create one update process
    (UPDATE ORDERS
    SET TRAY_PREPARED =:P10_TRAY_PREPARED_1
    WHERE ORDER_ID =:P10_ORDER_ID_1;
    UPDATE ORDERS
    SET TRAY_PREPARED =:P10_TRAY_PREPARED_2
    WHERE ORDER_ID =:P10_ORDER_ID_2;
    UPDATE ORDERS
    SET TRAY_PREPARED =:P10_TRAY_PREPARED_3

    UPDATE ORDERS
    SET TRAY_PREPARED =:P10_TRAY_PREPARED_4
    WHERE ORDER_ID =:P10_ORDER_ID_4;
i dont know really if i can do that, but it appear hat it actually saving according to order_id number , but not all the time some time it saved the value as "null".
please guide me what is the correct way to do this.
    I READ THIS ONE

BUT IT WAS FOR MULTIPLE INSERT
    thanks.

    Sans,
I am no Apex expert, but with a situation as "complex" as yours, have you thought about creating a VIEW that joins these 7/8 tables, placing an INSTEAD OF trigger on that view to do all the business logic in the database, and base your application on the view?
This is the "thick-database" approach that has been gaining momentum of late. The idea is to put your business logic in the database wherever possible, and let the application (Form, Apex, J2EE, whatever) concentrate on UI issues,

  • Airport Express with D-Link router?

I bought an Airport Express with the specific purpose of connecting an old 1999 iMac to the internet (D-Link wireless router) via the ethernet port. I also thought I could use it to connect other ethernet devices such as my HD-DVD player.
I tried to configure the Express with my PowerBook to discover later in the instructions that the ethernet port is disabled when configuring the unit as wireless bridge/client. It sounds odd, becuase I can't understand the use of it, then. The range extender configuration which enables ethernet, apparently only works with an Airport base station. I admit I'm not very networking-savvy. Did I do something wrong? Am I understanding the instructions correctly?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, most non-AirPort routers are not compatible with Apple's implementation of Wireless Distribution System (WDS)...so it very unlikely that your D-Link router can be extended wirelessly with the AirPort Express Base Station (AX).
The few that are known to work are:
o another Airport Express Base Station
o 802.11g Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS)
o 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn)
    o Linksys WRT54G or WRT54GS (not v5)
    o Belkin F5D7230-4 and F5D7231
    o BT Voyager 2091
    o Netgear WGR614 v6
    o Buffalo WGR-G54

I linked my outlook express with icloud, not realizing it would change my outlook express contacts.  I deleted email addresses from my iphone, not wanting them there which in turn deleted them from my PC.  Is there any way to get these addresses back? Seems I no longer have an outlook contacts list.

It's Outlook, not Outlook Express (different program) and if you have now deleted them from iCloud and do not have a backup they are gone.

  • Linking airport express with other airport express or belkin base

is it possible to link my airport express with another and thus have wireless coming from both?
if not, can it be done with anything other than an apple base, namely Belkin?
any help would be appreciated. thanks

You can link two Express units in a WDS network, by configuring one to extend the wireless network of the other.
Airport Express units can extend a Belkin wireless network if you are using a Belkin F5D7230-4 or F5D7231.

  • WRE54G expander and D-LINK 624 router

Note: DI-624 has 4 lines ethernet wired connectors and 1 wireless antena.
With WRE54G powered and ethernet connected to the router line 2, the CD used to setup the expander did not worked at first time and resulted in a message in the computer: The WRE54G can not associated this AP in repeater mode.  The next step was to change the configuration of DI-624 by accessing the IP address of the router (Web page of D-link). I put security desable and applied the new configuration to the router but loss the wired (line 1) connection to the internet by DI-624. I reboot the computer and internet came back. I started again with CD setup and the message desappeared but the red light still ON even with the message congratulations in my screen for Linksys setup. When I disconnected the ethernet cable to the expander and after few seconds, for my surprise the both leds went to blue light. When I returned to secure mode in the router, the expander return to red light. Then I decided to run setup with WPA enable until final with congratulations in my screen of Linksys setup wizard but with red light on the expander. After removing the ethernet cable, then after few seconds the Expander turn both leds to blue color. I sent this mail by a computer in the lower floor using this WRE54G expander.

Well is your D-Link router supports WDS (wireless distribution system), if yes… WRE54G may work with this router…

I can ping the IP address of the airport express when connected via the powerlines but cannot select the speakers in iTunes (they are greyed out).
    Any assistance would be appreciated....
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thanks for the quick response...
As suggested, I connected up the Airport X to the Belkin and plugged in a pair of headphones. It didn't work, still could not select the Airport X as speakers.
Dug out my old Netgear DG834G and connected that up in place of the Belkin - it worked. Next connected in the Netgear powerlines and it still worked.
So, the problem is the relatively new Belkin F7D4401 router.
Looks like I will have to find an alternative 802.11n...
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards
    Simon

  • My Macbook wireless no longer works with my D-Link router

I purchased my Macbook in the summer of 2006 and have been using it wirelessly with a D-Link Airplus Xtreme G (DI-624) router. Just recently it stopped working with my router, although if I turn encryption off or try it in coffee shops, etc, the wireless still works just fine. I got into a long unhelpful email dialogue with D-Link tech support, and all I can guess is that maybe some recent OS X updates changed something...?
I've tried browsing the router on a wired connection and fiddling with various settings and renaming the network and resetting the password and deleting the key off of my keychain, etc, but nothing helps. I should be able to follow instructions if anyone has ideas about how to diagnose this, so I'd appreciate any help you can give me!
    Macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Welcome to the forum.
I had DI-624 for one year. It was no problems.
Have you try to reset to factory settings and try it again ?
And try the latest routers firmware update.

  • Airport Express vs. D-Link Dir-655 = no xbox connection

I cant seem to get my airport express to connect to m exisisting network. it just wont work. it keeps asking me to find apple devices at the end of the setup. Meaning it was me to find a airport extreme or time capsule. which i do not own .
I own a D-link dir-655 wireless n router and i cant get them connected together. my router/modem is downstairs in the living room, and my flatscreen is in my room and the xbox.
I want use my airport in my room for the xbox and and play live can anyone help?
    HALO REACH!!!PLSS!

I am using a D-Link DIR-655 as well and trying to hook up the Airport Express to extend the range as well. I have tried just about everything, and well nothing seems to be working. I updated the router to its latest Firmware, and I don't think that the router has the capability to use WDS settings. I have even tried to find some DD-WRT for it and no one has made anything for it, it seems to be something with what D-Link does to the router or its hardware specs.
Anyways, I've tried to get my Airport Express to join my network even tho it is not a 802.11n its the older version, but on my router settings I am set to use 802.11n/g or even b.
    For the Xbox problem set it up with an Ethernet cable because;
    1. You don't want lag
    2. Its a helluva lot easier.
If you must connect it wirelessly, make sure your adapter is plugged in fully and that you actually have one. The Xbox's do not come with wireless adapters unless you have purchased a new Xbox 360 Slim ( I believe there calling it ).

  • AX will not work with WPA

My AX worked successfully with WPA security for several months, then stopped. I reset it, hard and soft, used factory default, but it would not work with WPA. Changed the security to WEP 128 and it worked fine. But now my Macbook Pro won't connect automatically. I have to run diagnostics to reconnect every time I started the computer.
Went back to WPA, now my Macbook Pro connects fine again, but the AX won't won't connect. Airport utility recognizes it when I reset it, but when I go thru the configuring process with Airport Utility, AX always fails on the last step, saying it could not join the network after it restarted.
Does this make any sense to anyone?

    Henry,
Thank you for explaining Duane's approach. Immensely helpful! And, of course, in retrospect, makes complete sense. I'm sure there is a kb article on this somewhere....... ?
Which brings me to something in your post:
"do a hard reset of the Airport Express and use the Airport Setup Assistant to reconfigure it from scratch"
Am I missing something here because after installing Leopard, Airport Utility is the only Airport app I have in my Utilities Folder? I do remember Airport Setup Assistant being part of Tiger (but that disappeared as did the functionality of several other Airport apps (Airport Admin, etc.) after upgrading to Leopard.
So, IS there an equivalent in Leopard of the Airport Setup Assistant? Or do I use the Network app in Sys Prefs to Join an already existing network (going the route of a hard reset of AX)?
Usually, David Pogue's MM book on OS X is helpful in filling in the gaps, but his new Leopard book seems a bit sketchy this time on setting up a wireless network. I think this subject (setting up a wireless network, etc.) could almost get a MM of it's own!
If I may, can I address a related issue? Previously, in setting up the AEBS and AX to work together you do end up with what LOOKS like TWO networks (both have their own Apple network numbers and letters) even though they are working in tandem as 1 network, right?
I bought the AX to extend the range of my network because it seemed the signal from the AEBS was not quite strong enough. I set it up to be a "remote" to the AEBS's "main." I also use the AX to stream iTunes to my living room's sound system.
Again, many thanks for your help.
