EXS/LP8 newbie - Best method to load an AIFF/AppleLoops drumbeat into EXS?

Hi All ---
--- I've got a great sounding drumbeat going on. problem is, i played it.
I've found a few bars that almost work as a loop, but uhh....you know.
as I dont have Recycle or Reason for OSX, I've made an eight-bar Apple Loop with 1/32 transient cuts in the Apple Loops Utility to hopefully load into the EXS. but this is where i come unstuck - is it actually possible to load apple loops into the EXS? i'm also wondering if there is a better method to execute the whole process.
have been looking through the forums and i'm seaching the manual now --- but any quick tips would be greatly appreciated ----
...mega thnx in adv. for any help
Cheers,
J.

You can import .rex files into the EXS, and of course turn them into Apple loops.
I don't think there is a way to directly import Apple loops into the EXS unless you have Recycle.
They will probably import as normal audio files, though I haven't tried it to see what actually happens.
OTOH, the fact that there are those green, midi based apple loops would lead one to believe it can be done. It's never been clear to me whether an end user can make those.

  • Best method to load XML data into Oracle

    Hi,
I have to load XML data into Oracle tables. I tried using different options and have run into a dead end in each of those. I do not have knowledge of java and hence have restricted myself to PL/SQL solutions. I tried the following options.
    1. Using DBMS_XMLSave package : Expects the ROWSET and ROW tags. Connot change format of the incoming XML file (Gives error oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: Start of root element expected).
    2. Using the XMLPARSER and XMLDOM PL/SQL APIs : Works fine for small files. Run into memory problems for large files (Gives error java.lang.OutOfMemoryError). Have tried increasing the JAVA_POOL_SIZE but does not work. I am not sure whether I am changing the correct parameter.
I have read that the SAX API does not hog memory resources since it does not build the entire DOM tree structure. But the problem is that it does not have a PL/SQL implementation.
Can anyone PLEASE guide me in the right direction, as to the best way to achieve this through PL/SQL ??? I have not designed the tables so am flexible on using purely relational or object-relational design. Although would prefer to keep a purely relational design. (Had tried used object-relational for 1. and purely relational for 2. above)
The XML files are in the following format, (EXAMINEEs with single DEMOGRAPHIC and multiple TESTs)

    Thanks for the help.

Please refer to the XSU(XML SQL Utility) or TransX Utility(for Multi-language Document) if you want to load data in XML format into database.
Both of them require special XML formats, please first refer to the following docs:
    http://otn.oracle.com/docs/tech/xml/xdk_java/doc_library/Production9i/doc/java/xsu/xsu_userguide.html
    http://otn.oracle.com/docs/tech/xml/xdk_java/doc_library/Production9i/doc/java/transx/readme.html
You can use XSLT to transform your document to the required format.
If you document is large, you can use SAX method to insert data into database. But you need to write the code.
The following sample may be useful:

  • Best way to load a local XML

What's the best way to load a local XML file into a Datagrid
    without using the HTTP service?
    Thanks

    Use Class.getResource() and Class.getResourceAsStream,
when you eventually jar it up, just put the same
hierarchy in the jar and they can be found.
    BufferedInputStream in = new
    BufferedInputStream(Class.getResourceAsStream("foo/bar/
    yimg.jpg"));for example.
That should work out of the Jar too. Thanks v. much - got it all going some days ago but found it all fell apart when I ran the code within the jar. However I used the similar ClassLoader routines and found that if you first get a uri for the resource then it is a fully-qualified file uri. This works ok when running directly against files on disk, but once they are in a .jar it all turns to custard, giving you "java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: URI is not hierarchical".
I followed your suggestion to use Class.getResourceAsStream and it now works perfectly - thanks again!

  • What is the best method for moving iTune Libraries from Old to New Computer

    Hello,
Thanks in advance for any assistance you may offer.
My Sony Vaio Desktop recently died and untimely death, so I just purchased an HP Notebook. I was trying to wait out the release of the possible update of the Macbook line. However the old computer didn't agree. This HP will tie me over till a new release.
I've been doing weekly backups for over 3 years with a backup drive from Western Digital. At this point I just want to transfer my music in iTunes and applications from the App store that are loaded on to my iPod Touch into the new computer and then reauthorize and sync.
My question is what's the best method. Oh another problem I'm having includes the latest iPhone & iPod Touch software problem of 3rd party apps not working along with the vanishing of my music on the Touch.
Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Open up a fresh copy of iTunes. Point iTunes in the direction of your Western Digital Harddrive. Import Folders.
    1. New Copy
    2. Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> General -> Change -> <the address of the iTunes library on WD>
    3. File -> Add Folder to Library -> <Select iTunes folder on WD>
Always keep a backup of your iTunes Library file and the iTunes XML Document. If you have those, then it might be just as simple as copying those to your iTunes file folder. If you are not sure where they are, then do a search for iTunes.xml.

  • Best method for data acquisition application

    Another Newbie question:
I have a different application that I am working on (preliminary development stage) and I would to perform the following steps but I am not quite sure what the best method to complete the task
    1) acquire data
    2) wait 60 minutes (at this point at a later time I will add code to turn oven on)
    3) acquire data
    4) wait 60 minutes ( at this point, at a later time I will add code to turn oven OFF)
    5) acquire data
    6) END
Currently I am using a modified example of the Agilent 34970A.  I can sucessfully contol the agilent meter and get data using labview (chart and log to lvm only).
I am looking ahead for the main intention:
Ideally the user of the application will list channels desired to acquire data from and make an association to a serial number (havent figured this part out yet) and then push the START button and walk away.  At the very end the Initial / Hot / Return data would be obtained, calculations performed, and a printout made.
I am looking a good starting point to work off of whereby I can continue my baby steps.  Should I use Event driven or a sequence?
    Any good examples?
    Thank you for your time

    jqm,
It seems like you have figured a good state machine model for your application. I am attaching a more elaborate state machine example than what is available in Example Finder. It uses a Producer/Consumer scenario with queues to pass data between two loops. You can follow that example to create your application. You might not be able to run the program unless you configure your Data Acquisition hardware to correspond to the software settings. However, you will be able to see the overall structure pretty well.
Study the example well to see how data is passed from one state to another. For your wait time you can use either Elapsed Time VI or Wait VI.
    Hope that helps.

  • Best place to load Images in applet game

Sorry for the double post but I just realised I originally posted this in completely the wrong forum!
    Hello,
I have made a fairly basic game of 21/BlackJack and was wondering where the best place to load the card Images is/was...
Currently I am loading the images into an Image[ ] in the applet class, but was thinking maybe the loading should be done in the deck or card class?
In the applet class I use an ordered version of the deck to assign the cards in the image[ ], then to call an image I generate an index number based on the current cards value and suit....
However this method means I have to create an instance of the deck in the main program, whereas before I had it as a private member of the dealer class, so only the dealer could access it (which seems "safer", no?)
So would a better idea be to have a loadImage() method in the deck class, which populates an Image[ ] with the cards and pass this to the main program?
    Thanks

    Ken,
Loading images is slow so you only want to do it once... maybe when you generate the deck ... and "image" is definately an attribute of the card, yes... I'd actually implement the loadImage() as a method in the card class so set a private image variable... and then get the the dealer to call the loadImage method for each card as "he" builds the deck.
But that's just how I would do it... and I'm no guru so don't take it as gospel... I'd be surprised if there wasn't atleast one "purer" way of doing it.

  • Best way to load messages - properties file or database?

    Hi Guys,
I have a debate with my colleague about best way to load/keep GUI messages.
As we known, all those messages are in properties file, web tier will handle the messages loading to GUI.
However, my colleague suggested, we could save all the messages in a database table, when application starts up, it will load all the messages from database.
Please help me figure out pros/cons for both ways? What's the best to deal with message loading?
    Thanks

    allemande wrote:
Please help me figure out pros/cons for both ways? There is no big difference with regard to performance and memory use. Both are after all cached in memory at any way. I wouldn't worry about it.
The biggest difference is in the maintainability and reusability. Propertiesfiles are just textbased files. You can just edit the messages using any text editor. It is only a bit harder to wrap it in a UI like thing, but you can achieve a lot using java.util.Properties API with its load() and store() methods. Another concern is that it cannot be used anymore if you switch from platform language (e.g. Java --> C# or so) without writing some custom tool to read Java style properties files at any way. Databases, on the other hand, require SQL knowledge or some UI tool to edit the contents. So you have to create a UI like thing at any way if you want to let someone with less knowledge edit the messages. This is more time consuming. But it can universally be used by any application/platform by just using SQL standard.

  • What is the best method for multiple language interface?

    Hi,
I need to adapt my CVI application to multiple languages.  But I have to be able to do this on the fly.  The Localizer is great for all the panel objects and this works great.  But I was wondering what the best method is for all the dialog box text?  Right now I'm using const char defines for the text. For exampl:
    const char *CONST_NO_STRING         = "No";
Is there a simple method, or best practice method, to load different language dialog text at run time or on the fly?
    Thanks,
    Andy

Not sure if Andy's original concern was settled... but let's try and button this up:
    - The UI Localizer does use a text file with manually-written translated strings for each supported language
    - From the Localizer help: this will only aid in translating the panel labels.
Use this instrument driver to easily display user interfaces in different languages. When loading a panel or menu bar, you can specify a language file that contains translations for all the labels on the panel and all the menu items. You can create different language files for the user interfaces by translating them with the User Interface Localizer utility (localui.exe).
    - If you have additional content to be translated (like the text inside a drop down box), manually loading from .lwl, or similar, files and programmatically setting those dialog box entries would be the solution. - Looks like CVI should handle multibyte languages just fine (see below), though I have never used them.

  • Best method for "UPSERTS"?

    Hello,
I'm trying to do some "update if exists otherwise insert" logic in my SSIS package but am running into problems.  I researched and found that one way to do it is with Lookup transform, with redirection of error output.  But this causes problems
as I run out of memory (I assume) because random components start failing for no reason.  My reference table has over 2 million rows also.
Any ideas on best method of doing upserts?

    Hi John,
Sorry for the lack of explenation, but I've ment src, lookups, scd, insert & update. Maybe it's because I've never seen a suitable
situation where I could use merge statement, but I like the fact that you can extract your data, do calculations, FK lookups and update/insert the destination with SCD 1 or 2. I have seen a situation where they used merge statements but the "ETL" process exists
only out of SQL tasks & scripttasks, yes dataflows are used but 1 to 1 to load data from src and store it in staging. this leads to a situation where you copy the data 3 times in different tables, ones in a staging, ones with the join to determine the
FK's and one upsert statement. It works I agree but I always wondering if this is a good approach, it looks messy, difficult to maintain, row based errorhandling is not possible , redirection of unknown lookups, ...
Maybe it's because I'm used to work with a DWH.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Method to load a client demo in SSM 7.0

    hello all
I would like to show a demo of SSM 7.0 to a client. Can there be a method to load the demo without having the Netweaver installed on the client machine ? I would like to show the basic features of SSM ie. the front end and the Entry and Approval. I heard there is a way to load a client demo for SSM 2007 version. does it also work for SSM 7.0 ?
    Vijay

    Vijay,
Your best approach would be to have a VM of SSM on your laptop, since you need 64bit to run Netweaver CE and I am assuming you have a 32bit laptop. And you do have to have Netweaver CE installed for SSM 7.0 to run.
SSM 2007 could run on a 32bit machine and did not need Netweaver CE. Unfortunately, maintenance has ceased for SSM 2007 as of March 31, 2009. There are also significant differences between the 2007 and 7.0 versions, in the interface and the some additional tools, including a HTML Cube Builder, so you shouldn't be showing a client 2007.
When putting your VM together, remember that the HTML Cube Builder, the Diagram Manager, and the BI Connector are all separate installations in addtion to SSM 7.0.
    Regards,
    Bob

  • XML in Oracle 9i (best method to return a xml file from a table query)

    Hello.
What is the best method to query a table, or set of tables (that will return thousands of rows) using xml in oracle? (best performance)
I'm currently using DBMS_XMLGen, is there a better method ?

I think, if your talking about generating XML, that you should use XMLElement, XMLForest, etc. to create your XML.
Lets assume that you base is relational data, then maybe the following great example will give you an idea how to do it : Re: Generate XML Schema from oracle tables
As michaels pointed out (did you read the link/ URL given?), the general expectancy is that the packages will be less and less important. So also maintenance wise the XMLElement, etc way will be the best, also for the future, maintainable method.

Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can provide.

It depends upon how you want to do the export and import. Whether a full database export or just the schema containing the data, etc. based on that you will have to create the 10g database and perform the import. Below are some relevant documents:

There is no cache-connect option being used. I am thinking insert is the only option here. Are there any other options?
    thansk

You can also use the TimesTen ttbulkcp command line utility, this tool is similar to SQL*Loader except it handles both import and export of data.
For example, the following command loads the rows listed in file foo.dump into a table called foo in database mydb, placing any error messages into the file foo.err.
    ttbulkcp -i -e foo.err dsn=mydb foo foo.dump
For more information on the ttbulkcp utility you can refer to the Oracle TimesTen API Reference Guide.
