Ext enclosure for ex-MBP drive, wanting to get data

Hi
Apple swapped out the drive for my MBP, 2.66ghz. I'd like to try and see if I can retrieve some data since it's uncertain how big a problem the drive was since they replaced the board.
Anyhow, I got a 2.5" usb 2.0 external enclosure from OWC. First, are there precautions I should take against electrical discharge when installing the drive in the ext. enclosure? I used to have one of those things you strapped round your wrist and clipped to a table or whatever but with moving can't find it.
The ext. enclosure simply operates as a regular external drive, right?
I suppose I could just connect and see if it mounts, but thot I'd ask for suggestions first. And while that may well be the first option, what would the second option be if it doesn't mount?

Sir, thank you very much for that, I will check out. Is it superior to Disk Warrior? Right now, all I really would love to get is my FIrefox bookmarks, maybe not worth $100. Then again, I have another drive with lots of pics and other data I'd love to get, including some applications. Just curiously, do you think it can do a good job recovering those apps (I guess that's really a question for them, so no problem)?

Do I need a special external drive enclosure for my MacBook drive? When I removed it, I noticed it doesn't have the pins where the drive is connected to the computer, but rather two thin, extended pieces that slide into the computer. My Macally enclosures were used with my older MacBook HD which had the pins (that were easily bent). I don't think my current enclosure will allow this drive to be used?

I want to get data from only RESB table without loss of any deltas

i have to fetch the reservation details for the production orders.
we are using descrete manufacturing method to keep track the Work in process and cost .
for addition of components manually in the production order we can track thru change date i.e From AUFK table with field name AEDAT. for each time when we are adding the components the system will create a new line item In tableRESB-OBJNR(field)
i need very few fields from RESB table to be pulled into SAP BW.
how should i proceed creating a generic exractor without any loss of deltas.
i want to get data from only resb table into sap bw.
how should i proceed with Generice extractor with single table RESB and what would be the delta field . could any one throw some light .

Actually I need some example VI which could guide me to solve my problem.
I want to get data on USB speed 1mega and should be event handled means when every a byte is received at com port ( which is always Hex value) should be written in text file without the loosing the data.

1. Use polling. Use the "Bytes at Serial Port" to read the data.
2. No way to write each byte at a file at this speed . Store them in an array and every some time write the file and empty the array.
3. If you can start with lower transfer rates and then go up to 1Mbps.

Anybody gonna cancel order for 17"MBP C2D if shipping gets delayed again?

Just wondering if anybody else will want to cancel their order if our "updated" shipping date estimate is pushed back again. This is my first Apple (not including my ipod) and it has been a bad experience so far. I was looking forward to my new mac world but right now my trusty PC is looking better and better. If the delay was for something other than supply issues I might not want to get on this sinking ship.

I feel your pain...I ordered the new MBP C2D then cancelled the order, because I wanted to wait for some more feedback. I had ordered a custom configuration and when I called Apple to hold the shipment until I was got back to them they said that normally they won't do that and with it being a custom config it was not returnable. If i cancelled before shipment I would be able to in essence get a refund but in that case I wasn't even being billed for it since they don't charge the credit card until it is shipped. this all happened last night (sunday). I was made aware that if it were shipped anyway because it had already been built I could still return it for a refund since I had made the decision and it is on file with Apple before fedex got their hands on it.
fast forward to this morning.....Fedex got it before Apple pulled it from the loading dock......in the end, I don't really mind the situation. I will just drop it back at fedex. apple didn't pressure me into keeping it and even helped me expedite the return. I also don't need a replacement computer, so I am not in a bind.
Also, I guess, it i needed a new 'puter I would be ****** off with the delay....on the other hand, I would anticipate any delays or problems if I needed a new one.

Does your wife have an AppleID for her iCloud already? If so, she would use the same AppleID to sign in to the iTunes store. If not, here is the information to add or change and Apple ID:

You're right, it would have been covered under warranty. But because of the user damage, chances are there's a 200-something dollar fee . If you explain to them that it had a defect previously, they might replace it for you at no charge. **MIGHT**. But they would have to believe that it had a defect previously.

Dead curve 8310 just want to get data off

both of my blackberry 8310s will not turn on at all, I really need the data off the newer one. I took it to a place recommened by the AT&T store by my house and got no help. Everyone I've talked to said if the phone will not turn on then nothing can be done. I backed it up before the phone died, but somehow the back up was deleted off my computer. Is there any way I can get the data or is it truely gone??

Sadly, everything you have been told so far sounds correct. You might try an undelete program on your computer to see if you can recover the IPD file...if there has not been too much use AND if the drive is not that full, then it's possible that it is still recoverable. But, as for getting data from the BB, I suspect not.

Destroyed mirror RAID (1), Want to get data, but how?

I had a degraded mirrored RAID set that was functioning in its degraded state - reads and writes were no problem.
I thought that if I used DiskUtility to destroy the RAID, it would convert the drives to normal drives, and I would have access to each individually, but this was not the case. I also thought the data was backed up, but this was not the case.
I used the minus sign in the RAID tab DiskUtility to destroy the RAID. There are now 2 drives, but neither is able to be mounted:

If I try to verify the first disk:

but if I try to mount it, it thinks the mount is successful, but nothing new shows up on the Desktop, nor with "df"
bash-3.2# diskutil mountDisk disk0
Volume(s) mounted successfully
in reality, the drive is NOT "mounted successfully."
disk2 is in worse shape, as the OS is not even fooled into thinking it is mountable:
bash-3.2# diskutil mountDisk disk2
One or more volume(s) failed to mount
So I am trying to put my recovery efforts toward disk0.
Any ideas on how to mount the drive and get data off of it?

I had the same issue a few months back.
1 drive of my mirroed raid died. So I took the working drive out of that box and put it in a FW enclosure. It mounted fine. However after converting it back to a regular volume it would not mount. I tried everything thing I exhausted google searches.
the only fix was to reinitialise the drive. Luckily I had the data backed up elsewhere.

Want to get data from java file

I am creating a program using JBuilder. All is going fine but im having trouble reading data. Well, I want to read data from a java program which is in the same package of my program but when i wrote the command to read it i get a Exception saying:
"java.io.FileNotFoundException: dataControl2.java (The system cannot find the file specified)"
Below is the program i wrote to do this:
The hole point of my program is to get temporary stored data from my conrol program that stores the data and saves it to a file. This program needs to get the user name and password and if the password is enabled or not.

USB enclosure for X41 optical drive

I'm wondering if I'm chasing a product that doesn't even exist. I just want to find out whether there's anything on the market that would allow me to use the optical drive from my X41's base, via USB, with my X201. I've had bad experiences with consumer USB optical drives, so if I can't track one down, I'm going to find one of those Dell hotswap optical drives with the mini-usb on the back and use that. (Lenovo/IBM, why on earth didn't you do that with your drives too?)

Since X41's dock also uses UltraBay slim, so this would work. I suggest you to do a serach on eBay or elsewhere for the UltraBay slim to USB adapter, maybe you can find a better.
