Extend number of rings

how do i extend the number of rings in the call manager before the calls goes to voicemail?
currently, its is 4 rings, how do i extend to 6.

End users are requesting ability to change ring duration on the fly? I haven't come across this in all my years....... I don't see real life scenario.
I can't currently change the ring duration on my mobile......
I don't remember being able to do so with POTS home service back in the day.......
Not sure why adjusting ring during throughout the day would be an ideal solution either though now that I'm thinking about it....... I tend to think between CFwdAll, DND, remote profiles, (possibly) Jabber or LYNC integrated, mobility/remote destination, hunt groups, dual/multi lines, etc etc etc a more desirable and static design could provide the required benefits and more........
At times I like to break it down to what IPT really is when discussion focus around a "seems-it-should-be-simple" feature (e.g. adjust ring timer) from legacy phone environment......... bring up that where a traditional ring was standard operations in IPT world its a feel good comfort: a audio file being played when a call connection request is made. similar to the dial tone: ipt phones don't really have a dial tone what end users hear is a looped audio file as a creature comfort.........
Hope that helps support your users :)

  • Extend number of rings before answerphone kicks in

    Hi,
My mum has just bought a BT6500, which comes with an answerphone.
She wants to know how to change the number of times it rings before it goes to answer phone. She's a bit slow on her feet and wants to increase it from the standard 4 rings to 8. This isnt covered in the (brief) manual, nor can I find it online here.
Does anyone know how to set this up?
    Thanks,
    Jac

Welcome to the forum. From page 45 of the manual:

Updating my iPhone 5 software has shortened the number of rings before the answer phone kicks in, how do I extend the time delay?

If the codes Tanzim mentioned don't work, just call your carrier and ask them to extend your time until voicemail picks up, to 30 seconds. They do this routinely.

  • How to extend the number of rings before phone goes to answering machine?

On 5S, How to extend the number of rings before the message machine turns on?

Check with your carrier. It is not an iPhone controllable setting.

  • How do you change the number of rings before going to voicemail on ios7

my phone only rings for like 4 rings then goes to voicemail I need it longer help!?!?

You cannot change that, it is not user programmable. That is handled by your carrier, and it is not based on the number of rings, it is based on time. Call your carrier and see if they can extend the time for you. They may not be able to do this.

  • 3315 - Number of rings before diversion to voicema...

Is there any way of setting the number of rings before diversion to voicemail?
Currently my 3315 rings about 6 times and then diverts. This is too quick for me and I want to make it (say) 12 rings.
I cannot find anything on this function in the owner's guide.
    Thanks!

I also received this belated but nicely detailed response from Nokia Support, so I'm posting it here for posterity:
In response to your enquiry, the extension of a ring time is a network related feature. Hence, network features are not listed in the phone's user guide.
You may contact your network provider to request for the ringing time to be extended to the maximum time (normally its 30 seconds).
If this has been done, you can check if the time delay has been set to the maximum time from the phone.
    1) Menu>scroll to Call Divert and press select
    2) Scroll to Divert if not answered and press Select
    3) select Activate and press OK
    4) select Voice mailbox number and press OK
At this point, if the call feature has been activated, you will be able to see step (5) as per below. Otherwise, contact your network provider to request them to activate the call divert service and repeat the steps.
    5) Active:Voice Calls, press Details
    6) scroll to Delay and press OK
    7) You will be able to see the time in which the phone will ring before diverting the call to your voice mailbox.

  • Increase number of rings before pickup

How do I increase the number of rings before pickup on the iPhone4?

Apple needs to provide better advice to its iPhone customers on this issue -- there is nothing on this topic in the iPhone manual.
My iPhone 4S rings for 4 rings (about 10 seconds) before the call transfers to voicemail.  I would like the time to be extended to about 15-20 seconds.
After spending more time than I would like to determining that the manual does not address this topic, and searching the internet, I called my wireless provider (Verizon), who said they extended the ring time on their switch, but it failed to register on my iPhone.  The Verizon rep conferenced in an Apple rep, who said the iPhone could not be changed in this respect.
This is basic stuff -- even if it does involve some interaction between Apple and the wireless service provider.  It is one of the first things I have attempted to modify on my phone (immediately after I programed in my voicemail).  If the phone cannot be modified in this respect, Apple should say so in its manual, and not have everyone be forced to figure out how to try to fix this problem for themselves.

  • How to change number of rings or time before it goes to voice mail on iphone 3g

How do I change the length of time or number of rings on the iphone 3g before it goes into voice mail?

Set by your carrier, so contact them.

  • Can you change the legth of time (or number of rings) it takes for on iphone 4 to time out making an outgonig call?

Can you change the legth of time (or number of rings) it takes for on iphone 4 to time out making an outgonig call?
Mostly it's to call in for radio contests. The Iphone is really good at making a quick call, but it seems to timeout after 15-20 rings. I realise this is a small thing, but free tickets is free tickets.
Most commenst I see is abotu incoling calls, not outging.
    Thanks.

No. You can't do this with any phone.

  • How do you limit the number of rings before your answerphone kicks in?

People calling me have sometimes complained that if I am not available to take the call, they have to wait for many rings - and hence a long time - before the messaging system kicks in. And sometimes, callers give up, assuming I don't have voicemail. I know you can limit the number of rings on other phones, but I haven't founf out how to do it with my iPhone. I'm sure it's easy though!!

Your carrier sets this by time, not the number of "rings" since different ring tones take different times/ring.  The typical setting is 30 seconds, sometimes up to 40 seconds.  Contact your carrier to shorten it.

how do I change the number of rings on my phone?

Call your provider and ask them to do it.
This is not controlled from the iphone.

  • How do I change the number of rings on messages?

How do I change the number of rings on messages. At the moment it rings twice and I miss it. Could do with being quite a few rings more.

This is determined by your carrier. It isn't a number of rings - it is based on time beginning when the call is received at your carrier's servers.
I believe with AT&T in the U.S. the maximum is 30 seconds. This does not equate to a full 30 seconds of ringing with the phone since there is some delay involved between the carrier receiving the call and it reaching the phone.

Call your voicemail access phone number and go to settings. There is an option for that.

  • An extra charge for changing the number of rings before voicemail picks up??

After trying all the tips I could find about changing the number of rings it takes before the voice mail picks up (the 58#, trying access setup on the vm, changing it online, etc…), I finally called the customer support line.  I was put on hold for a few minutes (not a problem) only to have the customer service person return to say that he cannot change it because I would have to pay for the "upgraded" voice mail that is not included in my plan (the plan I just signed up for last month). I find it absolutely absurd that moving the number of rings for vm from 4 to 6 justifies an added cost.   If anyone knows the magic on how to do this for a line that is in the Dallas Ft Worth area, I would be very appreciative.  As for the extra charge to adjust your own voice mail, you can draw your own conclusion on how fair that is...
And I don't buy that it is not as simple as it appears... if you can program the thing to pickup on three rings then you should be able to adjust the forwarding  and vm to pick up on 6.  i have never had this problem with any other carrier.

I called tech support, not customer service, and had my rings moved back a few so my answering machine would pick up first.  Voicemail is for back up in case I don't answer call waiting.
    It was free.
