Extended Analytics - Is it possible to extract data from HFM to MS Access through an UDL (OBDC) file?

Hello,
I am trying to extract data from HFM, using Extended Analytics, to MS Access through an UDL (OBDC) file but it displays the following error:
"error occurred while connecting to the database"
I've followed these steps:
1. Create a blank MS Access database (.mdb format)
2. Create an .UDL file which connects to MS Access database:
      - Provider: Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider
      - Connection: Linked to the .mdb database created in step 1.
      - Give "ReadWrite" permissions.
3. Test .UDL file connection successfully.
4. Create DNS with Extended Analytics DNS Configuration tool.
5. In Extended Analytics (HFM), once selected the new DNS and extract it displays the error commented before.
¿Do you know how i can solve this issue?
Thank you in advance,
Best regards,

Hello Anjum Ara,
Thank you for your response.
I don't understand how to add my database SID to tnsnames.ora. (I already found the file but i don't know how to add new database SID)
I have created one MS Access database in "C:\TEST.mdb" and i want to connect Extended Analytics to it.
How i have to add this database into tnsnames.ora file?
Thank you in advance,
Kind regards

    Hi perezco,
    As Piotr said, this can be done through .NET programming in a Script Task or a Script Component. For the code snippet, please refer to the following thread:
    http://forums.asp.net/t/1629654.aspx
    In addition, there are also third party SSIS components that provide such a functionality such as:

    Once done then for delta we need to make sure all the 5 tables are updated then only BODS need to extract and update the deltas...
    Thanks

    Hi Terry,
    Yes ,u can use DB connect to retrive the data from SQL data base...
    Also, If you want DB -connect with MS-SQL, In the source MS-SQL all the tables which provide data for SAP have to be owned by SAP-User (which you created to connect data base).
    Follow the same procedure u have done for Oracle DB connect..
    Cehck this look for more info..

  • Extract data from SolMan to MS Access with VB RFC

    I am trying to create a database that allows me to extract data from SolMan directly from MS Access.  The command I want to run is ZSPROJECT_GET_SOLAR_STATUS (I think this will do what I want it to).  I am doing this in VB within Access and need to extract the data into a table for use with reports I have created.  Currently I do this manually by running a solar_eval transaction and export to Excel, then import into Access.  I would like this to be automatic as the users will not know how to do the manual extract.
    Can anybody help me out?
    Scott

    I am an intern at the project with no SolMan or SAP training.  We have a similar application that is web-based that was developed by someone using XML and a SOAP RFC, but since my application is in MS Access, I was hoping to do it through VB.
    I don't know what version of SolMan it is, does 4.0 sound right?
    I guess that I need to talk to someone from SAP on this project if I can find them to get this setup?  I don't know if this is a generic transaction or not, but the one I use currently to extract the data is
    solar_eval
    so I'd like to automatically run this and extract the data using Access to put it into my table; rather than logging into the GUI, running the transaction, choosing the variant and layout, export to Excel, and then finally go into the database to import the data and run my reports.
    Any thoughts on how I could do this besides what I'm trying to do which seems like it may be difficult?

  • Is it possible to change the dimension order when extracting data from HFM?

    Hello,
    When accessing Consolidation/Extract/Data is it possible to change the dimension order of the extract rather than extracting the standard order?
    I can see you can change the dimension order visually by going to "Reorder dimensions" but this does not carry through to the actual extract.
    If its not possible using this method is there another method? Trying to avoid using smartview for this purpose.
    Many thanks and kind regards,
    Rich

    Hi,
    No, it is not possible to change the order type.

  • How to Extract data from HFM in ANSI format?

    We want the .dat file from Extract data in ANSI format. Currently this file is created by default in Unicode format. I tried unchecking the 'Save all files in Unicode format' option in Consolidation tab under Preferences, but for some reason the change is not getting saved.
    Does unchecking of this option change the file format?
    Is there any other option to change the file format ?
    What is required to be done to save the changes made in Preferences?
    I am using HFM 9.3.1

    Any info on this issue?
    The changes made in preferences are not getting saved for some users. Is this related to role assigned?

  • ODI : extract datas from HFM filtering on base members of certain accounts

    Does anyone know how to filter only Basemembers for certain accounts for extracting data ?
    I need to extract data for level0 members of certain accounts which is about 300. If I don't put the filter its more than 2000 records.

    Hi - unfortunately you cannot do that in the current KM. We faced the same issue and logged the issue with Oracle. Its being considered as an enhancement not as a bug. So we have to wait for future releases. As a solution for this we created TaskLists in HFM and extracted data.

  • Is it possible to export data from a PDF in Reader XI into an xfdf file?

    Hello,
    I am new to the forum and to Adobe Acrobat.  Please bear with me as I explain what I need to do and what I have tried to do so far to accomplish this (based on reading numerous forum discussions and Adobe IAC/JavaScript manuals).
    Operating system, Adobe and Microsoft products on my standalone PC:
         OS:  Windows 7 Professional
         Adobe:  Adobe Acrobat Pro XI
                       IAC Software (free download)
                       Adobe Reader XI
        Microsoft: VisualStudio 2010 (VB.NET and C#.NET)
    I need to export the data from a fillable PDF in Acrobat Reader XI into an .xfdf file that will allow me to pull the field data out of the .xfdf  (xml-type) file and use it in a C# program.  I tried using exportXFDF as a trusted function not knowing initially that Acrobat Reader XI will allow you to import, but not export.  Is there any workaround for this problem?
    Using the IAC I was able to write a program that allowed my to save the data in a fillable PDF in Acrobat to an xml-type file; however, that only worked when my executable was running on a PC that had Acrobat installed (not Acrobat Reader).  I need to be able to do this out of Acrobat Reader XI, and we do not want to use Adobe LiveCycle to do this.
    I feel like there is something very obvious that I am missing here.
    kfreema7

    I hope you won't see this as rude, but what you are missing is the obvious point that Adobe are in business to make money. So they put as little in Adobe Reader as they can, so people are motivated to buy stuff. Every development intended for Reader has severe limitations on feasibility and techniques for this reason; it's a huge (but very common) mistake to just develop for Acrobat and assume Reader will follow.

  • Is it possible to extract data from a Safari cookie?

    Hello,
    I need to recover a FedEx tracking number that I entered in Safari, and I'm hoping that perchance it was stored somehow in a cookie when I entered the number. It appears that I have a few cookies from FedEx in the list of cookie files on my computer, but I have no idea how to extract anything potentially useful from these files.
    After looking up the package on FedEx.com once, I lost the tracking number. I was shipping most of my clothes and some important books from California to Italy (where I'm working for the summer). Now the package hasn't arrived, and nobody at FedEx in either country will lift a finger without the tracking number. This attempt to recover it from Safari is the absolute last thing I can think of to get the magic number back.
    Any advice is appreciated. Thanks very much,
    Adrian

    Hi Adrian
    For Safari, cookie information is stored in your User Library>Cookies folder. The file is cookies.plist. You can open this file with TextEdit. First open Text Edit in your Applications folder. Then file menu>open and navigate to the file.
    When open, Apple Key + F key to open the "find" feature. Type in FedEx, select find by clicking on the button rather than pressing return so the find panel does not disappear. Continue to select "find" until you've gone through the entire search. Don't know if a specific cookie (there will be several for FedEx) contains the tracking number, however, I guess you'll soon find out.
    Good Luck

  • Extract data from Java to Excel

    Apologies for my ignorance in this field but is it possible to extract data from a Java based application (stock charts and the like) directly into Excel? If so could someone please contact me and explain the process in very simple terms as i have no idea how Java works :o)
    Many thanks.
    Gilsey

    Actually I should qualify my "Yes" answer. It is possible for a Java application to output data to Excel (using Jakarta POI for example). Whether it is possible to persuade an existing Java application to do that depends on the application. If it has been programmed to do it, then yes. Or if it has an underlying database where it stores its data, and you have access to that database, it might be possible to extract data from the database into Excel. Otherwise the programming of the application would have to be changed.

  • Extract data from RMS to BI.

    Hi experts,
    I wish to know if its possible to extract data from CRM RMS using BI (7.0).
    I have read in other topic that it doesn't exist any standar way to do it (using Bussines Content), but that topic was answered some years ago. ¿do you know if there are news about this issue?.
    If not possible using BI (standar or specific development), if somebody knows how to extract data from RMS and show it with a query, even using R3, would be helpful for me.
    Thanks in advance. Kind regards.

  • Extracting date from oracle/other databases exactly to java

    Hello Friends,
    Iam creating a simple program which extracts data from any database and stores it in an XML file and also it can extract data from an XML file and updates the database.
    My program is just getting the tablename as an input and from that it builds the query (select * from tablename). Through ResultSet, Iam extracting date fields with getDate() method of ResultSet, which is yeilding converted dates [In oracle if date is 23-DEC-1980, Im getting it as 1980-12-23 in java]. Even getString() method of ResultSet doesn't work.
    I want my program to work with any database engine, which may have their own date formats. Kindly can anyone suggest me a way to extract date from any database exactly as it is to java.
    NOTE:: I can't use to_char(datefield) type commands in SQLQUERY as the only input to my program is tablename and my query is, select * from tablename.
    Regards,
    Ch.Praveen.

    HI Friends,
    Thanks for your fast replies. My program is extracting data from a database and generating an XML file for it, which is as follows.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <table tableName="EMP">
    <row>
    <column columnName="EMPNO" columnType="NUMBER">7369</column>
    <column columnName="ENAME" columnType="VARCHAR2">'SMITH'</column>
    <column columnName="JOB" columnType="VARCHAR2">'CLERK'</column>
    <column columnName="MGR" columnType="NUMBER">7902</column>
    <column columnName="HIREDATE" columnType="DATE">'1980-12-17'</column>
    <column columnName="SAL" columnType="NUMBER">800</column>
    <column columnName="COMM" columnType="NUMBER" />
    <column columnName="DEPTNO" columnType="NUMBER">20</column>
    </row>
    <row>
    <column columnName="EMPNO" columnType="NUMBER">7499</column>
    <column columnName="ENAME" columnType="VARCHAR2">'ALLEN'</column>
    <column columnName="JOB" columnType="VARCHAR2">'SALESMAN'</column>
    <column columnName="MGR" columnType="NUMBER">7698</column>
    <column columnName="HIREDATE" columnType="DATE">'1981-02-20'</column>
    <column columnName="SAL" columnType="NUMBER">1600</column>
    <column columnName="COMM" columnType="NUMBER">300</column>
    <column columnName="DEPTNO" columnType="NUMBER">30</column>
    </row>
    </table>
    Here you can observe that HIREDATE column is having date in different format than in oracle. We are getting an error while we are extracting data from an XML file and updating the database, as dateformats differ. Can anyone provide a solution, which extracts date from database to java exactly as per the dateformat in database.
