Extended Analytics template label issue

I'm trying to create star schema via extended analytics from work space but getting below error
'Invalid Extn Analy templete label. Please provide a valid template label. '
I followed all steps provided on
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/financial-management/tutorials/exprtana-093544.html
Can't seem to get the reason behind this issue.
Thanks,
Ravi Agrawal

Thanks Erich.
I'm new so do not have any info for this template label.
While extracting I just mentioned a template name for future reference.
How and from where do i check for this template label feature?

  • Extended Analytics Templates

Can EA templates be shared among users? A template created by one user is not seen by another. I see no way to set security or extract/import a template. Can EA templates be shared or must they be re-created for every user who needs them?

Unfortunately no.. even if you are all administrators. My colleagues have to replicate the same EA templates using their own user ids. Quite annoying!
I don't understand the reasoning in not sharing EA templates across administrators. My concerns are on the EA options where one person can choose the same prefix but a different aggregate option or a user decides to use a prefix that's being used by another user and overwriting another's star schema.

  • Extended Analytics(How to share template to other User's)

    Hi ,
Can any one plese tell me, How to share Extended Analytics template(Already Created Template) to other User's.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Mo

Extended Analytics templates are user specific, though I think this changed after some release in the 9.x series. Hyperion at one point in time had a utility that would allow you to copy the template from one user to another, but I don't know whether that still exists. It may just be easier to have users recreate it in the short term since this is really just a metadata selection issue.

  • Issue with Extended Analytics

    Hi,
I have an entity(say A) which is a shared member across 2 hierarchies. The immediate parent for this entity is different across both the hierarchies (say X and Y). The default parent is X.
I am using Extended Analytics to extract the adjustment values of A(both entity currency adjustments and parent currency adjustments). A and X are in USD and Y is in AUD.
So, in Extended Analytics, I need to be able to select the exact parent-child combination to get the values. But in the parent ID column, I am always getting a value of -1 which means Default member not in Use.
Has anyone faced this issue before? Am I going wrong somewhere?

    hi,
Please check your saplogon.ini file as detailed in note 170352.
Maybe it contains empty descriptions under the section

  • Oracle API for Extended Analytics Flat File extract issue

I have modified the Extended Analytics SDK application as such:
    HFMCONSTANTSLib.EA_EXTRACT_TYPE_FLAGS.EA_EXTRACT_TYPE_FLATFILE
    instead of
    HFMCONSTANTSLib.EA_EXTRACT_TYPE_FLAGS.EA_EXTRACT_TYPE_STANDARD
I am trying to figure out where the Flat file extract is placed once the Extract is complete. I have verified that I am connecting to HFM and the log file indicates all the steps in the application have completed successfully.
Where does the FLATFILE get saved/output when using the API?
Ultimate goal is to create a flat file through an automated process which can be picked up by a third party application.
    thanks for your help,
    Chris

Never mind. I found the location on the server.

  • Extended Analytics - Is it possible to extract data from HFM to MS Access through an UDL (OBDC) file?

    Hello,
I am trying to extract data from HFM, using Extended Analytics, to MS Access through an UDL (OBDC) file but it displays the following error:
"error occurred while connecting to the database"
    I've followed these steps:
    1. Create a blank MS Access database (.mdb format)
    2. Create an .UDL file which connects to MS Access database:
          - Provider: Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider
          - Connection: Linked to the .mdb database created in step 1.
          - Give "ReadWrite" permissions.
    3. Test .UDL file connection successfully.
    4. Create DNS with Extended Analytics DNS Configuration tool.
    5. In Extended Analytics (HFM), once selected the new DNS and extract it displays the error commented before.
¿Do you know how i can solve this issue?
    Thank you in advance,
    Best regards,

    Hello Anjum Ara,
    Thank you for your response.
I don't understand how to add my database SID to tnsnames.ora. (I already found the file but i don't know how to add new database SID)
I have created one MS Access database in "C:\TEST.mdb" and i want to connect Extended Analytics to it.
How i have to add this database into tnsnames.ora file?
    Thank you in advance,
    Kind regards

  • Extended Analytics takes than twice as long to extract in version 11.1.2.1

How can I track this issue down and resolve it? Using the same UDL files for Extended Analytics in both systems, a full extract from System 9 takes about 30 minutes, while System 11 takes about 80 minutes to create the Star Schema. The target database is on the local SQL server (same one as HFM). Also verified the same issue exists when extracting to a remote SQL server as well.

I entered an SR for this issue. In the EPM_Admin guide on pg 188 there are registry settings listed for Extended Analytics. Specifically EAUseODBC. When set to 1, my extracts are fast but do not allow me to create star schema after metadata update. So until it is completely resolved, I have to "flip the switch" to 0 after metadata change, have the users create their star schemas, then flip it back to 1 and then they can run star schema updates in a reasonable amount of time again. Hopefully they will be able to resolve this bug in a future patch.

  • HFM Extended Analytics Extract - Only for Data at Review Level 6 and up?

Hello, I have a requirement to Extract Data from HFM as Flat Files in order for them to be picked up by a separate process.
In order to do this I have used Extended Analytics to create the extracts I require.
The issue I have is that users are only supposed to be able to extract data that has been approved up to Review Level 6 and above, and at the moment they can choose any POV regardless of the Review Level the combination of the 4 dimensions has.
Is there a recommended or easy way to achieve this?
I have looked into a few possibilities including:
    1. Restricting the LOV drop-downs (via re-creating metadata via a custom script)
    2. Having a process "catch" the fact that the POV is not approved upon export (perhaps using a taskflow with a "Process Management Action" stage, or by creating a Rule that can be applied to the EA Exract?)
    3. Including in the Extracted data file a "header" row with the POV Review Level value (so the next process in the chain can handle validating this)
    4. A custom API method
I am quite in-experienced with HFM so any advice or pointers would be very much appreciated.
    Many Thanks,
    Martin

    Terri,
Doesn't EIS require a parent-child/recrusive table for the dimensions? If it could read HFM EA's tables as they are natively organized, then I guess EIS would be an approach although unfortunately it is not possible in the environment in question. I am at a loss as to why HFM EA doesn't output tables as required for Essbase, especially given the Essbase option in exporting, but it is what it is.
I got an answer over on Network54 suggesting how to build those tables in Oracle. Again, unfortunately, I'm in a SS 2000 environment so that means extra work for my SQL resource as I think it requires a stored procedure (am not, never have, and will likely never claim to have more than a 'SELECT * FROM' level of SQL knowledge) but at least it's a start.
The original thought I had was to get these Essbase-ready parent-child dimension tables and build the cubes from them. Are you interested in EIS because it has better automation?

The error you pasted here is incomplete. Look in the system messages and you will find more complete information that will lead you to the error's cause. Very often this is an error in the database, though sometimes it is caused by a metadata member with an invalid character. To determine whether it is data or metadata that causes the error, you could generate a schema with metadata only and see if the error appears.

  • How to setup a template to issue SHA1 certs if I have a SHA256 chain

    Hi All
Can any one tell me how to setup a template to issue SHA1 certs if I have a SHA256 chain. I looked at the templates and I didn’t see where it is specified?
    Puneet Singh

Certificate signature algorithm is CA-wide settings and independent from certificate templates. You have to configure your CA to use SHA1 signature:
    certutil -setreg ca\csp\cnghashalgorithm sha1
net stop certsvc && net start certsvc

  • Extended Analytics Flat File extract in ANSI

    Hi,
    Version: EPM 11.1.2.1
The Flat file extract using Extended Analytics from HFM is exported in UNICODE format. Is there any option to get the export in ANSI code format?
    Thanks,
    user8783298

    Hi
In the latest version, Currently the data from HFM can be exported only in UNICODE format. There is a defect filed to Oracle for the same.
At present the only workaround is to change the file encoding after it has been extracted, using third party software.
For example, the extracted file can be opened using Windows Notepad and then desired encoding format can be selected when the file is saved using option Save As.
    Hope this helps.
    thank you

  • Problem with an Extended Analytics Connexion

    Hello all,
After testing an Extended Analytics connexion (where everything was okay), I wanted to deploy it.
I obtained this message : Updating UDF entry in the UDF configuration file

This happened after trying to re-deploy this connexion without changing any parameter.
The tests still run okay but the status is down.
Does somebody know how to get a working connection from this message?
    Thank you.

  • BO XI3.1 - Extended Analytics

    Hi all,
What is difference between Extended Analytics & Analytics.
is required seperate installationfor Extended Analytics ?

Hi, I've experienced using Greenplum database and odbc PostsgreSQl
For BOE 3.1, you can create Webi, but not applicable with dashboard part. Where it cannot recognized the Postgre driver.
Currently i'm trying to use another driver from DataDirect.
    Thats all for now.

  • BFC Extended Analytics or Cube Designer

    Hello
We're building a business case on the benefits on using Extended Analytics over the reporting capabilities of BFC itself.  Anybody has a high-level document or presentation that outlines the functionalities of the application that he/she would like to share.
    Thanks beforehand.
    Ashwin

    Hi Deepesh,
The same applies to Star Schemas, the main difference being that the star schema itself (the fact and dimension tables) are also stored in the relational DB.
    1. Yes, the member will be present, but I believe it will appear as unselected (unless of course you have selected your members by some filter or characteristic and this new value is within that selection)
    2. This is a tricky one.
If you introduce a new dimension (which can only be a user-defined dimension and therefore you need dimensional analysis) it depends what was done with 'old' data.
In Designer, the new dimension will be visible, but if you are using multi measures, you would need to select this new dimension in the "Dimensional Analysis" tab.
You would now be in a situation where you have a new measure and you would as a first step you would need to deploy. Now, if in BFC you introduced this new dimension in (for example) 2014.04, all your data prior to this period would not have any values for this DA.
In the cube this means that if you selected this new measure, you would not see any data for 2014.03, 2014.02 etc.
This means the end-user needs to select both measures in the report- and this can be quite confusing. You can use 'single measure' mode to avoid this
    3. If you want to use this new characteristic as a hierarchy, you would need to select it in the hierarchy tab and re-deploy
    Thanks
    Marc
