Extended Attribute with a UOM category of Unit

In version 6.1 how do you create a Numeric Extended Attribute with a UOM Category of "Unit". We would like to create a numeric extended attribute that has an available UOM of "Cnt". Since Cnt is available by default in P4P, we do not want to add it a second time to the "Other" Category. However when I go to create a new extended attribute, none of the UOM Categories include "cnt."

This issue has been resolved in Hotfix 6.1.0.2.7 (Patch 15998737). For more information, refer to Knowledge Document ID: 1377579.1 - Available Patches for Agile PLM for Process Version 6.1.

  • HT5285 XSAN 3 extended attributes with StorNext clients

Is the info that StorNext clients must not access XSAN volumes with extended attributes enabled still valid with XSAN 3 and StorNext 4.3?
What can happen, if it connects with the volume anyway? Is it only that file permissions get mixed up or will it likely even cause data corruption?
    Thanks for your comments!

Yes this is fine. This is my personal expericence and might help you in the future as many have not thought about doing this.
I had a customer who "lost all his data" or so he thought. As a engineer you always tell you customer things and it seems that they just don't hear what you are saying until you politely tell them "nah nah da boo boo, I told you so" I remember specifically telling him that you need to ask before you update your OS version. So he decieded not to do it anyway, but only do it on half. So he had a wonderful mix between OS X 10.6.7 and 10.6.8 which is when on the Apple wolrd extended attributes became different. Basically what happened was the MDC couldn't understand the extended attribute, thus not allowing the SAN to mount. So after fighting the entire day with this, I simply grabbed a Linux machine installed Stornext made a temp license and was able to mount the X-SAN volume via the Linux MDC. We copied all the data off and then back on again. Now he keeps to upgrading to me.
The reason for this story is to tell you that Linux doesn't care about exteded attributes.

  • HELP: Extended Attributes Not Appearing In Instances of Custom Content Type

From Java code I create a custom content type derived from Document and define some extended attributes with default values for that type. All done using the same methodology shown in the Developer's Guide and Oracle example code.
I start ifsmgr and I can indeed see the content type and the extended attributes.
If I however create an instance of this (custom) type, either from the Viewer (file Upload) or from Java code (using code simuilar to createDocument from the Oracle ContentModule example), the extended attributes do not appear!
BUT, if I delete one of the extended attributes using ifsmgr (highlight one of my extened attributes, click on "Remove", and then "Apply"), from that point on the previously missing extended attributes appear (except for the one I deleted of course) when I create files of the custom type from either Java code or the Viewer. Furthermore, once I get ifs to "see" one of these extended attributes in this manner, I can delete the extended attribute and re-create it from Java at will and it will appear in created instances of my custom content type just fine.
If however I add another new extended attribute to the custom content type, I have to do the "Remove/Apply" drill in ifsmgr to get this new attribute to appear in created files of my custom type.
I've tried deleting all instances of the custom type and closing both ifsmgr and the Viewer, but unless I delete one of the extended attributes from ifsmgr I cannot get new extended attributes to appear.
What do I need to do in my 9ifs Java code to get new custom content extended attributes to appear in instances of that custom type?
    Thank you,
Jeff "Did Kafka Write ifs?" Rininger

    Dear @user10993347,
As mentioned by @vinod2303, you need to maintain content relationships along with subscriptions.

  • Determine selected UOM on calculated extended attribute

When calculating results based on values with different units of measure (UOM), how do I know the unit of measure that is set on a calculated numeric extended attribute? For example, getting the target values in inches, if I calculate volume as length * width * height will produce a value in cubic inches. If the extended attribute UOM is set to cubic feet, then I must covert the returned results from cubic inches to cubic feet. The question is, can I determine the unit of measure for the calculated numeric extended attribute within the calculation script so that I can calculate the value in the correct UOM, or must I use a custom calculation class?

The Calculated EA can only have one specified UOM, meaning if your calculated EA is Volume, you configure it with one specific UOM (eg, cubic feet). Therefore, your JScript can request EA values of the length, width, and height to be returned in the UOM you need (feet)
    var length @ GetCellInMyRowByColumnID('LENGTH').Value.GetNumericValue ('FT');
    var height @ GetCellInMyRowByColumnID('HEIGHT').Value.GetNumericValue ('FT');
    var width @ GetCellInMyRowByColumnID('WIDTH').Value.GetNumericValue ('FT');

  • No permission to copy file (to NAS with AFP support) - extended attributes?

For certain files that I copy from one of my drives to the NAS here (Synology 206j), ever since upgrading to Snow Leopard, Finder's behaviour has changed. It will simply refuse to copy the file, stating that "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items."
The source is an external USB drive in Mac OS Extended format, I do have full permissions on the files and in any case the drive is set to ignore ownership.
The target is, like most NASes, in EXT3 format. It's sharing via its own AFP implementation.
I'd have tried repairing permissions, but for whatever reason, it's greyed out on my external drives. Since then I've figured that it was probably not that anyway, which will become apparent:
I tried copying the file via the terminal and it actually worked, but also gave an error: "cp: myfile: could not copy extended attributes to /Volumes/media backup/myfile: Operation not permitted"
This suggests to me that, as expected, the target volume doesn't support extended attributes. But rather than popping up with the message that Leopard did (something along the lines of "your target volume doesn't support extended attributes so your file's metadata may be lost, do you wish to continue") it just aborts instead.
I'm not sure if this is a Snow Leopard problem or a change that Synology need to catch up with. A workaround is to compress the file to ZIP first.
Thought I'd mention it here before trying to report it as a bug somewhere. Anyone else having similar issues, either with a NAS or some other storage, in which case please specify?

Thanks guys, yeah I've been monitoring the netatalk mailing list myself: they're onto the same problem, have come to the same conclusions about it being Extended Attributes and have much better proof of such than I
It looks like they're currently debating the best way to fix it (pretending to support EAs but sending them to a black hole being the quick and dirty way, but I suspect they'll go for implementation)
It'll be a while for sure, but the Synology guys are very good with Mac support so I'm sure they'll apply the update fairly quickly once the netatalk crew get something public. FWIW, I did detect a certain sense of urgency from the netatalk discussions.
Although it's essentially answered, I'll leave the question marked as unanswered in case Apple come up with a better one

  • "Open With"- "Change All" corrupts your file (Resource forks, extended attributes, creation date)

I finally know why some of my files get corrupted.
    If you use the following method to assign one kind of file to always open with the same application;
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8387.html
(File -> Get Info -> Open With -> Change All)
an extended attribute will be added to your file.
You can examine that by typing "ls -l" in Terminal. If you see an @-sign after permissions than you have an extended attribute in that file.
To see what it contains, type "xattr -l filname.jpg" in Terminal.
Besides that is adds an extended attribute (which can be deleted with the "xattr --help" command) the modification date of the selected file will be changed.
I think this is irritating because I wan't to keep my master photos with the same modification date as creation date.
What else does it effect besides the modification date and to add extended attributes? Does my metadata get intact?
(If you further want to make a backup copy on for example a FAT32 filesystem than your got a new problem. FAT32 doesn't support resource forks, so besides filename.jpg you will have an additional ._filename.jpg of 4kb)

Doesn't sound like there is any corruption going on to me. It may change the date modified, but that should be expected since you modified the file.

  • Error compiling with extends attribute

I've got an abstract class I would like to extend in a JSP.
I can get it to work with other classes but not in my JSP.
    <%@page extends="com.websource.database.Connections"%>
If I remove this the JSP will compile. But when included I get an error like:
    getPageContext(javax.servlet......) cannot be applied to....
Any advice would be most appreciated.

    To quote the JSP spec:
"The creation of the implementation class for a JSP page may be done solely by the JSP
container, or it may involve a superclass provided by the JSP page author through the use of
the extends attribute in the jsp directive. The extends mechanism is available for
sophisticated users and it should be used with extreme care as it restricts what some of the
decisions that a JSP container can take, e.g. to improve performance.
The JSP page implementation class will implement Servlet and the Servlet protocol
will be used to deliver requests to the class."
i.e you need to implement all the methods of javax.servlet plus probably HttpJspPage as well. Is this what you are trying to do?

  • Unit Price in Issue for Production for Item with wrong UoM

    Dear All,
In issue for production the item cost being picked does not match either our Last Purchase Price or Price List1. In some cases the price considered is an average:
Eg:- For Item A with Purchase UoM in Nos. and Inventroy UoM in Gms, we had not enetred the conversion factor i.e 1 No=100g. Thus GRN was made for 25 Nos. @ Rs.450/Unit. But actual stock was 2500g. Hence to rectify the stock we made an OB entry for 2475 as on GRN date with zero Price. Thus total stock was 2500 and Value 25*450=RS.11250
When we did an Issue for Production for this item: Qty:400g, the unit price considered was Rs.28.125 when the actual price to be considered is Rs.450[Unit Cost]/100 [UoM Conversion]=Rs4.5. We had entered Rs.4.5 in Price List1 and had selected this price list in the BoM as we had not entered a conversion factor in the Item Master Data and SAP does not allow alterations to this tab once the Item is involved in transactions.
I think the system calculated the price as follows: (25450+14750)/400=Rs.28.175
How do we avoid/correct this in the future?

If you need the stock price correct, the only option might be creating a new item with correct information in the first place.  Once you have error data to start with, there is no way to corrected as you wish.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

  • When I restore my Mac with Time Machine and then want to partition my disk, Disk Utility always says incorrect number of extended attributes

When I need to restore my Mac from a time machine backup and then partition my hard disk (the disk inside the computer not the time machine disk), Disk Utility always says "Incorrect Number of Extended Attributes". I then boot into Recovery HD and run disk repair. The result? "The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK". So then I reboot into normal OS and try the partition again, still Incorrect number of extended attributes. I have even tried /sbin/fsck -fy in single-user mode but it still says the volume is ok. I have tried partition my disk in the recovery HD and it still fails.
Can anyone please help me solve this problem?

Try something stronger, such as DiskWarrior or TechTool Pro.

  • Impact of deleting 'Prod Cat' from extended attributes on the SC approval

    Hi All,
I have one question regarding 'Product Categories' in extended attributes.
We have defined 'Product Categories' as extended attributes at the company level.
The users are able to create SC with the Product Categories which are assigned as Ext attributes of the company.
We wanted to remove one product category from the extended attributes of the company, because we did not want the users to create SC for that product category anymore.
However, the users had already created SC using that Product category and the SC are in approval process.
I want to know that if we remove that product category from the extended attributes, will it affect the existing SC (under approval process) which were created using that product category.
Will there be a problem in SC approval & SRM PO creation, if that product category is removed.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Ruchika

    Hello Ruchika,
As written by Sanjeev, i don't think it will impact flow process for SC or PO.
But, to be sure, make some tests on your development environment:
    - create a SC with Product Category to test,
    - delete this Product Category from tab "Extended attributes",
    - approve/reject the SC,
    - when SC approval WF is over, try with a Purchaser from Purchasing Group having responsability for this Product Category to modify PO (if authorized by user profil or customizing),
    - order the PO,
    - approve/refuse the PO,
    - make modifications on PO approved (if authorized by user profil or customizing).
Nevetheless, in case of SC rejection, check if SC creator can delete the SC: maybe not due to Product Category deletion.
    Regards.

  • SAP extended attributes

Hej all, i need to extend the list of attributes given in the resourse definition, in fact i need to extend the attributes with:
    -Printer
    -Menu in
    -General parameters.
    -Personalization paramenters.
Someone know how to extend the SAP parameters???
I already tried to map on the resource printer to USDEFAULTS-SPLD that i found using sapGUI but is not working...

    Hello,
HRV5502A is the view for existing locations assigned to Organizational Unit.
This table store only local data, so all OU with location inheritance from uppers OU are not stored.
BBP_LOCMAP is the mapping table between BP, System and Location.
As explained by Ganapathi, BBP_READ_ATTRIBUTES function modul can give you for one OU what is its WRK value.
I prefer HR_GENAT_READ_ATTRIBUTES function modul because with this MF, you can select locals or non-locals (inherited) attributes.
Moreover, with non-locals attributes, you have the object from which value is inherited (this means where the object is local).
    Regards.

  • Cannot create or replace : The specified extended attribute name was invalid.

New problem arrived today. Trying to copy a file from 10.6 server with an XP (SP3) client. I get this error:
Cannot create or replace (file name here): The specified extended attribute name was invalid.
The contents of the file can be copied, but not the folder. Other files can be copied. There are no funny characters. The name is not too long. I propogated the permissions on the share and that had no affect. The problem exists on three different XP systems. Can't find extended properties that could be causeing a problem. Any ideas?

  • When I check my boot SSD drive using Disk Utility under Mavericks, I often get "Incorrect number of extended attributes" errors.  But if I boot off an external drive and check the same SSD, no errors are reported.  Is this a bug in Mavericks?

When I check my boot SSD drive using Disk Utility under Mavericks, I often get "Incorrect number of extended attributes" errors.  But if I boot off an external drive and check the same SSD, no errors are reported.
This happens not just with the SSD in my Mac Mini, but with another SSD in my MacBook (both now running Mavericks).  So far as I know, all of the kit I am using is in good order (despite the file corruption reports).  So I am beginning to wonder if it could be due to a bug in Mavericks?  Both SSD drives have been formatted to MacOS Extended (journaled) format.  Should I have used a different format, I wonder?
Has anyone else encountered this issue?
    Does anyone have a solution?
Or an explanation that might help my investigation of the issue?
    Thanks guys,

I understand that the Corsair Force 3 is not one of the SSD drives that are supported on Apple Macs.
I did try downloading and using Trim Enabler, but the error message came up both when it was off and when it was on.
I understand that not everyone thinks Trim Enabler is a good program, though there is a new version out now, so I may give it another try.

  • Can't repair Macintosh HD in Disk Utility (extended attributes)

    Hi all,
I have a Retina Macbook Pro with one of them new fancy SSDs in it. I'm running 10.9.3 all up-to-date and am a bit computer-savvy, but I'm more than puzzled by what my Mac has been doing as of late.
When trying to install Windows via Bootcamp, I ran into an error message in the Partitioning step of the process. I hopped into Disk Utility, figuring I could simply partition from there (something in me trusts Disk Utility more than the Boot Camp Assistant). Partition failed!
I then executed the "Verify Disk" command in Disk Utility, only to be told I needed to restart from the Recovery Partition and use the "Repair Disk" function of Disk Utility then. Log of this whole event is at the end of this post, but the offending line seems to be
    2014-06-12 20:59:30 -0400: Checking extended attributes file.
    2014-06-12 20:59:30 -0400: (It should be 15783744 instead of 14437995)
I then restarted and followed these instructions. "Verify Disk" found no errors, nor did "Repair Disk." I rebooted, only to be met with the same problem!
Is there some sort of lower-level command I can use to repair my disk if I boot in Single User mode or something?
    Thanks,
    Nathan

    2014-06-12 20:59:30 -0400:

I'm having a similar problem with my G4 Desktop.
I have a 2nd internal hard drive and 2 FW Drives.
None of them are able to be verified or repaired using DU.
I get the following message: "Verify volume failed with error Could not unmount disk." And then some message about "make sure that all your files are closed."
I tried soft-booting by holding the shift-key down just as a trouble-shooting idea and I was able to verify and the drives were working well. However, when I restarted in normal mode I was not able to verify or repair.
What is my G4's problem? Why does it need to use that secondary drive in order to operate? What do I need to do to fix it?
    Any suggestions?
