Extended Features to Sign Documents from LiveCycle in Reader XI

I used LiveCycle to create the form, save it as Static then open in Adobe Acrobat XI to save as - extended features for adobe reader.
The 'Sign' toolbar is all gray.  I have tried with the LiveCycle field as a signature and also as just text fields and nothing seems to give me the ability to apply a signature.
Any help to get the Sign features available would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Kendra

I don't have anything that says Sign, to select...please see images of my Reader. The only thing that I can see that is in reference to "Sign" is when it is referring to the pane on the left side of Reader to show all the signature fields in the form. I use to have a Pane on the Right side for in-person signing with a mouse and EchoSign integration.
Thanks so much for helping.

  • Reader Extend Feature for sign document

If you like to sign the PDF document in Reader, please apply Reader Extend feature from Acrobat product first and save the file, and then you can sign the document in Reader.
Some user will sign the document first and apply Reader Extend feature later, this workflow will break the sign workflow.
Thanks for Acrobat product customers to use the product and give us this useful feedback.

Something happened to the file after the time that it was Reader-enabled. It was modified in a way that invalidates the digital signature that controls whether the usage rights are valid. I seem to recall the GoLive can be configured to modify (optimize somehow?) PDFs when it uploads them, and you definately don't want this to happen for Reader-enabled documents. I don't have GoLive, so I can't check what setting it is, but you should be able to look for yourself. A workaround would be to upload via some other means, such as FTP. I'd be interested to know if this makes a difference.

  • How can I extend features and enable typewriter tool in Adobe Reader

    Hello,
I have forms that I need users to be able to complete and save, but they also need to be able to use the typewriter tool to type stuff in areas of forms that don't have fields. Is this possible? If I enable the typewriter, I can't extend features and vice-versa...

It's one or the other. Not both.

  • Anybody can copy my signature from signed documents opened in Acrobat Reader. How do I prevent that?

The problem occurs when I take a word document in which I've pasted a jpeg of my signature and save it to pdf. I can go straight into Acrobat Reader and make a copy of the signature. That never used to happen. Is there some way to fix that? I see this as a major security problem.

It's always been quite easy to do so not sure why you think that.
You can't keep anyone from copying anything from a PDF document. At the very least they can do a screen grab.

  • Word 2010 opening document from SharePoint as Read-Only

    Hello,
I am investigating an issue in our environment (Office 2010 clients accessing SharePoint 2010 files) where documents will open in Word but as read-only and the option to edit the document is not presented.  This can be reproduced by copying and pasting
a link to a SharePoint document into the IE address bar and hitting <Enter>. A prompt will appear to open/save, etc. Clicking open will open the document but in read-only mode and there's no yellow bar to edit the document. The second time we perform
the same task, the document opens with the Edit Document button available. The Office Document Cache Handler browser add-in is enabled. The issue is described exactly in the last bullet of the 'more information section of this MS KB article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2661910.
"The Server read-only bar with the [Edit Document] or [Edit Workbook] or [Edit Presentation] button bar may be missing for other reasons when clicking on a hyperlink to a Office 2010 document stored
on a SharePoint site for the first time. Subsequent clicks on the link will render the Server read-only bar."
We have confirmed that using the OptimisticBHO registry value resolves the issue.  However, the support article says that this issue occurs for "other reasons".  Rather than deploy a registry hack to fix this, can someone elaborate
on what the other reasons are so that we can tackle the root cause of the issue? Is this a known bug, is the behavior due to some security update is there a SharePoint configuration setting involved, etc.? It would be helpful to know exactly why
the issue occurs so that we can plan the resolution appropriately.
    Thanks,

  • Activate Extended Features converting files

    Hi,
I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended to convert to pdf 3D files. We are doing the conversion via Batch Process that executes a sequence and is working fine. The problem is that the generated pdf file has no te extended features activated by default, so the final user cannot for example use the tool for making 3D measurements.
Is there any way to activate those extended features for all documents generated in the conversion.
    Regards,
    Nacho.

    Correct – no batch process.
Yes, LiveCycle Reader Extensions Server, is specifically designed for batch enabling.
Yes, there is also a 3D conversion add-on for LiveCycle PDF Generator, available from a 3rd party, so that you could do the entire thing there.

  • Dynamically Fill PDF form (extended features enabled forms)

    Hi Tarek
Firstly let me say thank you for the great help you are doing through the forum.
With Google, I did a very long search to find out how to fill a PDF form from a database. I achieved this using the iTextSharp dll. But this dll not supporting adobe extended features. thatsy once i filled forms using this class, result form will be flat form and we cant fill it manually again. even this will disable adobe extended features when i open it in adobe reader.
I am working with a project to simplify immigration process (CANADA). I already have all immigration forms created using LiveCycle. That means when i open these form in free Adobe Reader I can fill the form manually and can save locally (offline).
    My Workflow as follows
    1. I am working with .Net Frame Work 2, Visual Studio 2005, Windows Applications (not Web/ASP)
    2. I have fillable forms designed using Adobe LiveCycle (I can fill the form manually and can save locally (offline) using Adobe Reader).
    3. I have to dynamically fill these forms with data from a database (data is already available and its almost achieved using iTextSharp Dll)
    4. Once its dynamically filled, I will send these forms to client through email, because some of the data should be filled by client.
    5. client can open these forms in free Adobe Reader and they can fill and save these forms(because Adobe extended feature enabled in this form, so they can fill and save in Adobe Reader)
    6. Once they fill and save the form, they will send back final form to us through emal (no Online Submit required).
    7. We will check it and finalize, take printout and attach to our document management system.
    8. I can't use any great technologies bcz I dont need any online Submision/Rejection thing and our budjet is low.
    9. I am looking some technologies same as itextShar, simply fill data to form and save it as a new PDF, but it should support Adobe Extended Featers( what is currently not available in iTextSharp), so that customer can fill and save it again using simple  and free ADOBE READER.
    That's it !!
could u please verify my workflow is correct or not, bcz am new to PDF things and can u please suggest me solution to achieve this.
    Thanks in advance
    Ajo Joseph

iTextSharp doesn't enable usage rights in PDF forms, so any changes will invidate the form.
To bypass the validitiy of the Usage Rights, server the XDP data from the buffer of a web server, and point the File to the PDF on the same web server.
Usage rights will still be enabled, and the form can be saved or downloaded.
Also, please be sure to check out FDFToolkit.net, and PDFEmail.net.

  • Attachments to extended features enanbled forms

Is it possible to allow the user to attach documents to a LiveCycle Reader Extended Features activated form when they are using Reader? If yes, how?

    Hi,
Only if the form has been Reader Enabled using the server component LC Reader Extensions ES2.
If the form was Reader Enabled using Acrobat, then it will not be possible for users to attach documents to the form.

  • Sign Document is greyed out, option not available

I am trying to sign a form I have filled out digitally, all fields are open including signature block but the Sign Document under tools is greyed out. the form's title includes "(SECURED)" after .pdf.  is there a security setting I need to remove?  Here is a link to form i am filling out www.dtic.mil/whs/directives/infomgt/forms/eforms/dd2853.pdf
    using Acrobat X

The fields in the signature area are not digital signature fields, but rather are normal text fields, so it's intended for you to type your name. If the form did have digital signature fields you would be able to sign them. The type of security that they've applied does not permit you to create new digital signature fields, which is why Sign Document is greyed-out.

  • Sign tools disabled after applying extended features to document.

I have a form that I need to be able to save date typed into the fillable fields and I also need to sign this document.  I need to sign the document using the sign tools panel, so that I can apply a ink signature and use the Signed. Proceed to Send feature.  This way I can save a flattend copy of the form after it has been filled in and signed.  If I do not enable extended features I am able to use the Sign tools paned, but I am not able to save a copy.  If I enable extended features, I can not use the Sign tools panel and can only sign from the Extended tools.  The problem is this takes away the ability to use the Signed. Proceed to Send feature.  When I click on the Sign tool button I get a warning telling me "The security setting on this document prevents adding and/or placing a signature on it from Adobe Reader."
I don't need to use the digital signature feature, I need to be able to have three people apply a ink signature to a form, and then be able to flatten the form.

I use the forms to document training for 8 people on a weekly basis.  Which is why I need to be able to save a copy of the form.  The document then needs to be signed by the student, the supervisor, and myself.  From there the document gets efiled, but it needs to be stored in a flattened state.  So the Save a copy after the "Signed. Proceed to Send" allows me to save a flattened copy.  On the computer I use to have the form signed I do not have Acobrat Pro installed so I do not have the option of flattening the document by choosing the save to pdf from the print screen.

Yes.  I don't have the version you pay for.  I also tried the free version
of EchoSign.  Maybe that caused the problem.
Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to extend features in Acrobat Reader for Livecycle pdfs

Have a PDF I created wit
h Livecycle.  I'm trying to extend features in Acrobat Reader so that the form will be fillable with acrobat reader but that option is not ena
bled?  Anyone know where the magic button for this is?

I already done this three times and 'extend features in Acrobat REader' is still disabled.
I'm using Livecycle ES and Acrobat Pro 9.  When I 'save as' in Livecycle my only option is 'Acrobat (static) PDF Form', and when I open the PDF document in acrobat pro I get a blue-bar that says i am viewing the document in PDF/A mode.  Does any of that raise any "red flags"?

  • Can't sign signature with extended features.

I have a student who is unable to sign a pdf document with features extended for Adobe Reader. Nothing happens when she clicks on the signature field. I open the document and I have no issues signing it. The student says she has the most recent version of Adobe Reader. Does anyone know what might cause this issue?

What you're describing is what happens when the form has not been Reader-enabled, or the extended features are no longer valid. It's hard to say what's wrong without seeing the same document that she's using. It's also possible that even though she says she has the latest version of Reader, that she's actually using something else to view the PDF, such as Preview on the Mac, the built-in PDF viewer with Firefox or Chrome, or something else.
