Extended notification/swn_selsen - multiple languages

Hi all!
Our customer operates in four different countries and want their "new workitem"-notificiations in the language of the notification recipient. I've created two dialog texts in SE61 and translated them to the different languages via SE63. I've also created a message class (for the subject-field) in SE91 and translated this as well.
When I run swn_selsen the notification is created successfully with the subject-field in the correct language. But the two dialog texts are always displayed in the language in which swn_selsen is run.
Anyone else encountered this problem, or did I miss something in my configuration?
We're on ECC6.0.
Best regards
Geir

Did you manage to get any solution or the way around for the same.

  • Extended notifications: SWN_SELSEN

    Hello SolMan experts,
I configured the extended notifications for work items in solman using TA SWNCONFIG (as suggested under sap library and in this forum).
    I completed all steps successfully.
However, when I run the program SWN_SELSEN, notifications are collected but no "send job" is prepared.
TA SCOT is well configured, TA SWNCONFIG is well configured as well.
When I check SLG1, everything is green (including the selection job run and the delivery job); only one element appears as yellow "could not determine an agent for work item" - error swn156.
Does someone know how to solve this problem?
    Thanks!
    Kind regards,
    Alice

    Hello experts,
Thanks for your answers, it helped me.
However, I still seem to have an issue:
    1) I set in swnconfig that I wanted to send mail (one mail containing mulitple notifications) for ALL work items (including these which have already been sent before): I set in my settings that I wanted ALL_FULL notifications to be sent (instead of choosing ALL_DELTA).
However, if notifications have already been sent last time the job run, they are not part of the next mails (next job run).
Do you know how this is possible?
    2) I chose the option "link2" to display the sap gui for windows. However when I receive an email, upon clicking on the "display link", internet explorer is trying to open a URL. Do you know how I can fix that problem?
I saw that I needed to enter a "company logon id" in the subscription settings but I didn't because I do not know what it is and what is will be used for. Can that be the reason for the issue or do you have another Idea?
    Thanks for your help on this;
    Kind regards,
    Alice

  • Extended notifications from multiple systems

We're using Extended notifications now to send reminder e-mails about unfinished tasks. The problem now is that we have multiple (3) systems and we would like to set up Extended notifications to send one combined e-mail that has all the tasks from all the three systems. Is this possible with Extended notifications or do we have to cope with sending one e-mail per system?

    Hi Evan,
I had the same requirement. My conclusion was that achieving this would mean modifying the standard extended notification mechanism to run in one of your three systems and retrieve workitems from all three systems via RFC calls. Surely quite a big change, with high complexity and high risk.
I finally implemented another (relatively easy solution). The only prerequisite is to have UWL.
    1. Write a function module (rfc-enabled) that grabs all dialog and deadline workitems in a certain timeframe (passed as a parameter to the FM), with optional filter on task and agent. It returns a table with all the selected workitems + description + agent + agent's email address (if several agents for a workitem then the workitem appears several times in the table).
Implement that FM in all our SAP prod systems where you have workflows.
    2. Write a report in one of the systems, which makes a call to that FM in all the other systems to retrieve the workitem and then sends an email to each agent. The report writes the time at which it runs in a db table. So next time you run it it knows when the email was sent last and thus knows which timeframe to select workitems on.
The report sends one email to each agent with the list of workitems and a link to the UWL.
If you do not have UWL then that might get much more complicated because you'll need to insert links in the email body to allow execution of the workitem from the mail directly. Not easy... In that case I would rather start from the standard extended notification mechanism and enhance it.
Mmmh, maybe I should write a blog about this report of mine. Anyone interested? Worth the effort?
    Cheers,
    Patrick

  • GRC 10.0 Notifications in Multiple Languages

    Hello GRC Gurus,
In my Organization, We have a requirement to support French Language due to legal requirements in the Quebec provinvce. This means that all notifications to users in the Quebec province will have to be delivered in French.
I have researched this in as far as:
French Language has to be implemented as a prerequisite in SMLT
The standard notification templates will be available in French language once the language pack is installed
The issue i have here is:
can the notifications be sent to different sets of users in different languages? I see that that one message class can only be associated with one document object. Is there a way to get around this to define who will get the notification in French and who will get it in English probaly based on USER GROUP or DEFAULT LANGUAGE
Ofcourse, the message documents can be modified to present it in both English and French to make it easier but in future if there are legal requirement in others countries it does not make sense to keep adding the message body in all the required languages
    Can you please help?
    Regards,
    Prashant

    Hi Prashant,
I was looking into a similar requirement and came to the early conclusion that GRC is not smart enough to handle multi language notifications.
The reason why I say this is that whilst you can create multiple documents in SE61 in different languages, it looks like you can only create a single message class that gets aligned into MSMP, i.e no choice of multiple languages there.
What I am unsure about (as I have never bothered to investigate it) is the "message number" column in the "Variables & Templates" section of MSMP. I am unsure if you can send a number of messages for the same template and message class.
Also, I am unsure how GRC checks the user's logged in language and selects the document template.
Have you considered having the content of the email contain dual languages? i.e. first paragraph in English, second in French etc?

  • Notifications in Multiple Languages

    Hi
I have a small problem with notificatons.
When a requisition is created, a notification will be sent to the Approver. Notifications are sent in Apps as well as to the Approver's mail ID. Both these were in Norwegian language. In te workflow, we have two versions : one for US English and one for Norwegian. The second one defines the Norwegian messages (notifications).
Earlier the notifications send to iProcurement module and to the e-mail ID were coming in Norwegian. Recently, we applied a fix to the REQAPPRV workflow and reloaded it. After this move, the notifications to email ID are coming as English. But those to the iProcurement is coming as Norwegian. We want both of them to be in Norwegian. In E-Business Suite, user logs in Norwegian context. Any clue on this behaviour ?
    Thanks in Advance

If the notifications in iProcurement are in Norwegian, the e-mail notifications are also expected to be in Norwegian. The language of the e-mail notification is basically governed by the user's languagea and territory preference set in WF_ROLES view for that user.
Please check the following in APPS schema.
    SELECT language, territory
    FROM wf_roles
    WHERE name = '&1';
where &1 is the internal name of the user who receives the notification. Please check FND Preference values for this user for Language and Territory from Preferences link in Self-Serivce page. If these both are set to Norwegian, the e-mails will arrive as expected.

  • Extended notification languages

    G'Day folks,
I'm using Extended Notifications in a multi-language environment on NW 7.0 SP11, and it appears to just get horribly confused when more than one language is involved.
We want to send one notification per workitem, containing the workitem text, in the recipient language.
I've set the following (and tried all kinds of combinations):
    Job language for SWN_SELSEN: English
Work item language: English from WF-BATCH (or previous user language)
    User logon language: French
    User communication language: French
    HR master record language: French
User "Workitems in logon language" switched on
    Result:
    Extended notification header/footer: English
    Workitem text: French
    Decision links: French
    Work item/UWL links: English
What is even more bizarre is that I've set this all up from scratch on a TestDrive system (SP12) and gotten the opposite results with a German user:
    Extended notification header/footer: German
Workitem text: German subject, English body
    Decision links: not tested
    Work item/UWL links: English
I've spent two days experimenting with various combinaitons of these to get a complete notification all in the same language. The only way is if everything is in another language - i.e. the WI is created by a French user, sent to a French user, SWN_SELSEN runs as a French user. Obviously this is not a solution.
Anyone had to deal with this before?
    Cheers,
    Mike
    Cross-posted on SDN and WUG

    Mike,
Dont know about this issue but some times I am also facing this kindaa situation, though not in extended notification transaction but in class builder transaction.
When I check any class having implemented any method, say it shows method description in german but when I check the same method descriptions in interface definition it is in english.
I think now I am used to live with it, perhaps there is an OSS note for this but couldnt searched till now (probably stuck with more urgent work)
    I am in ECC 6.0 release 7.0 SP 11.
Did you tried to check any OSS note for this?
    Cheers

  • Issue with SWN_SELSEN report in Extended Notification - Re

    All,
I am working on ECC 6.0 and am using Extended Notif for Outlook mail generation. It's been working fine except that recently we have noticed that when a user goes to his witem thru' outlook mail and does nothing and comes out, then the witem is in IN PROCESS state. Next time when SWN_SELSEN is run, this is picking up this IN PROCESS witems and generating another Outlook mail.
Is this the std. behavior or any control is there where we can control which witems are to be picked up.
Anybody had this issue and any solutions or ideas will be a great help for me. Thanks in advance..
    Regards,
    venu

    Hello,
How do you have your Extended Notifications set up now - that it just tells a user once that they have a workitem and never again?
What is the status before they access it, READY?

  • Sending Notification to Multiple Users in Multiple Language.

    Hi,
In our Apps (R12) environment, workflow is installed in multiple languages. I have a requirement where User can choosed their preferred email language and all notification should be sent to that user only in the preferred language.
Below is the logic that I am using:
    1) Creating adhoc users for the email addresses and passing user preferred language as 'language' parameter. This language is different for different users.
    2) creating adhoc role and attaching all previosuly created adhoc users to this role.
    Here is where problem comes...
Notification is going only in the language that is specified while creating adhoc role. This is overwriting languages that are being specified while creating adhoc users !! I even tried not to pass any language while creating role but in that case it is taking language for that session...
Is there any way to achieve this functionality?
    Thanks,
    Sumit

    Hi,
Are you expanding the role in the definition?
I would expect that if you are notifying a role, then the language of the role is used, unless you expand the roles - in which case the language for the users which are part of the role would be used.

  • Extended notifications problem

    Hi experts,
I am trying to configure extended notifications for around 7 to 8 different taks
    pertaining to different workflows.
I could successfully do it for 1 task.
Then after successful testing I did add more filters to the same configuration
    under same subscription and delivery.
I even created new schedules for the new filters. But unfortunately it is not working.
I could debug the standard program SWN_SELSEN and found that the particular WAPI call to
select the delta Work Items from SWWWIHEAD and SWWWIHIST is failing because of some
    timestamp mismatch.
Can you please provide me some help regarding this ?
    Thanks,
    Deb

    Hi Purvesh,
You can find the step by step procdure in the following blog.
How to get Work items @ your Outlook Inbox
You can find all the definitions and theories in the SAP Help link provided in the same blog.
I initially followed the above and could successfully do it for 1 task.
However, I was stuck in achieving the same for multiple task belonging to different workflows.
Here is how I did it:
    1)  Do the configuration in SWNCONFIG as per the blog and SAP Help
         A)  Create your own delivery schdule
         B)  Create your own subscription using the above delivery schedule
         C)  Create your own filters
         D)  Create your own selection schedule
    2) Then run the report SWN_SELSEN to do the actual selection and delivery based on the schedules    you created.
The key is creating the filters. Follow the SAP Help link closely and try it. If you face any problems
    the please let me know.
    Please award appropriate points.

  • Multiple Languages in Outlook mail for a workitem not working(Note 1230808)

    All Gurus,
I am on ECC 6.0 with the below system details.
    SAP_ABA     700     0015     SAPKA70015     Cross-Application Component
    SAP_BASIS     700     0015     SAPKB70015     SAP Basis Component
    PI_BASIS     2006_1_700     0005     SAPKIPYM05     Basis Plug-In (PI_BASIS) 2006_1_700
We have implemented Extended Notifications in our system and it has been working fine so far with a single language EN. Now, we got a new requirement to generate Outlook mails corresponding to a work item in multiple language (FR for French apart from EN). Towards this, I applied OSS Note 1230808, with all the pre-requisites taken care as mentioned in the Note in our Sandbox system. I found this note from following blog (Thanks to Mike Pokrara !!!)
    [Re: Extended notification languages]
The FR text has been maintained for a standard task (Created by us only) as below:
    1. Task Description in FR is maintained thru' PFTC txn, by choosing the FR option, and
    2. Work item text for task is maintained thru' SE63.
Also, as mentioned in the OSS note, a value 'C' has been maintained for Parameter "WI_TASK_LANGUAGE" in SWNCONFIG.
Even after this implementation, when the emails are generated for an EN user, the Outlook mail is fine with all the text in EN, as expected. But, when the FR email is generated for a FR user, only the Workitem header text, the std. Header and Footer (maintained and picked up by std. SAP SO10 text) are translated into FR. But the Task Description part is still displaying in EN only.
Anybody had same / similar issue for this reqiurement ?. Can anybody tell me if anything is wrong in the way we are implementing or any limitaitons or known issues of this note / requirement ?
Your timely help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance & Best Regards,
    venu

    All,
It was a type from our side while implementing the manual corrections that were part of the OSS note 1230808. We found this with SAP's help and it's fixed now.
    So, closing this thread.
    Thanks to you all

  • Extended Notifications for UWL

    Hi gurus,
I am trying to configure extended notifications to work with UWL. Problem is the notifications are not saved or sent by SWN_SELSEN.
Our SAP system is Netweaver 7.0 EhP 1.
    I followed instructions found here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/ad/d64842d59fb430e10000000a155106/content.htm
However, we already had configured the workflow to use extended notifications with SAPGUI. So when I ran SWN_SELSEN, the old notification still showed up, but not the UWL version. So I deleted the schedule for the old configuration, thinking there might be interference. Again I  created a work item and ran SWN_SELSEN, this time no notifications saved or sent.   I found that I could run RSWNUWLSEL and the notification is saved, but not sent.
Any idea what the problem might be?
Also I noticed that in the Worflow Book (2nd ed.) it shows to update the General Settings in SWNCONFIG with a url for the UWL. But I don't see that instruction in the SAP Help? Do I still need to do that? If so, is that url a portal quicklink to the UWL iView?
For what it's worth, here is what we are trying to accomplish:
    1) the links in the email should take the user to the UWL, not SAPGUI
    2) for a user decision, currently the user has to login with their backend system password, which may not be the same as their network password; I'm assuming that if the links now go to the UWL, it will require the user's portal id/password - which is synchronized with their network password, and that is what we want.
So if just putting the UWL url in the general settings will do the job, then why do I need all that stuff in the SAP Help (RSWNUWLSEL, etc.) anyway?
    Any enlightenment would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Margaret

    Hi ysr,
It sounds like you are asking two different questions ...
    1) does using extended notifications necessarily require use of portal / UWL?
answer: No. In fact out of the box, (in our system which is 7.0 EhP1), extended notifications will generate links that go to webgui (SAPGUI for HTML) or SAPGUI.  To make it work for portal is what my question is about.
    2) you want to  'send the hyper link in the mails to clients'.
answer: if by clients,  you mean users outside your system, you will have to do something other than out-of-the-box.  Normally with workflow, execution of the links embedded n the email will require the person to have a logon to the SAP system. Perhaps if you have clients with access to the portal but not the backend, it might work if you configure extended notifications to work with UWL. The client would have to have the UWL role in the portal but obviously without backend access, they would not be executing anything on your SAP system, right? But for displaying information to them that might be useful.
of course another route would be to code completely custom methods to send the email which would include constructed links going wherever you want ... but that would be a lot of work!  (and out of the realm of SAP Business Workflow)
    Hope that helps!
    Margaret

  • Extended notifications: Missing tasks in SOST

    Hi!
I've configured extended notifications via SWNCONFIG, including different task filters. When I execute the SWN_SELSEN report, a range of notifications is represented in SCOT. However, when I run SOST, I'm missing notifications on two tasks. Tasks that are used in decision steps in the workflows are represented, but the two tasks that are used in activity steps in the workflows are missing. Why is that?

  • Extended notifications & placing a link to the mail

    Hi,
We have extended notifications running in our system with basically the following relevant settings:
    -one message contains multiple items
    -HTML message
I have configured the text of the mail to meet our requirements and it works just fine, and now I would like to enhance the text even more. I would like to include a link to the UWL to the text. So for example the text would be:
You have new work items in <u>universal worklist.</u> (where the phrase 'universal worklist' would be a link and by pressing it you could access the UWL).
How to do this? I tried to make this by using "a href" tag, but then the result was that the the mail text just included the whole "a ref" thing - it didn't create a link from it.

Sorry, I only found this one (btw very good) blog regarding extended notifications:
    /people/saujanya.gn/blog/2006/12/19/how-to-get-work-items-your-outlook-inbox
...and it doesn't really answer my question.
It is clear for me about how to create a link for executing each individual item, but this is not required. I just wonder that how can I add a link to the custom dialog text that I have maintained with SE61.
Or is there some other way to handle this? I would also be happy to some other solution. (The only thing that I would not be happy is that I would need to include the whole long URL address of the UWL to the mail in order that users could easily access UWL through the mail.)

  • Extended Notifications: Message not sent

    Hi Folks
I had configured the extended notifications in the development system and it was working perfactly. Then I transported the customizing request for the above config to Test system.
I have scheduled the job for SCOT and SWN_SELSEN.
SWN_SELSEN do select the notifications to be sent but it does not send any messages.
I have checked the application log and it displays a message SWN 032 ERROR while creating a message.

    Hi Folks
Thanx for sending me your answers. I found the solution to this.
The solution lies in the activation of some services in SICF.

  • Extended notifications - Shortcut

    Hi Friends,
We have configure extended notifications for Workflow and it is working fine. The issue which we are currently facing is when the notification comes to Outlook inbox and when we try to open the attachment to execute the work item the SAP Screen is opening in a minimized state, Please let me know if you have face such a kind of issue before and what was the resolution for the same.
Note : When I open the logon screen directly from SAP logon pad it is opening in maximized state.

    Hello,
Are you planning on just using Delta, or also the Full?
Some people do eg a Full every morning and then a Delta every hour or so.
I choose to just do a Delta so that there are no multiple notifications.
Could that be what is happening in your case?
    You say:
"ZALL_DELTA- Delete old notifications flag is checked - Assigned main filter is ALL_FULL-STANDARD CATEGORY "
That's a bit unusual, I would think ZALL_DELTA would be defined in terms of ZALL_FULL,
    not ALL_FULL.
I also don't understand why you have, in Filter Settings, Delta set to X for ZALL_FULL,
and to nothing for ZALL_DELTA. I have the opposite.
I only have one schedule selection because I only use one filter; if you're
using Full and Delta then I'm sure you need two.
