Extended Support for Oracle 10gR2

We are currently on Premier Support and as per Oracle official docs. the support will end by 31 July 2010 and the fee for first year of Extended Support till 31 August 2011 will be waived. We already have a support contract which is current, do we need to do anything to get the Extended Sppport?
Thanks

If what you were told was verbal ... get it in writing.
Though personally I'd rather be in 11g for both the sake a fast and secure computing but also for the sake of my skills and resume.

  • WLI 10.2 Support for oracle 10GR2 or not .......

We are evaluating ALSB 3.0 with WLI 10.2 and we would like to use Oracle RAC 10GR2.
    The BEA article at http://edocs.bea.com/platform/suppconfigs/configs102/102_over/supported_db.html#1178367
suggests that WLI 10.2 is not supported with Oracle RAC 10GR2.
I find this surprising since we are currently using WLI 8.1 SP4 with Oracle 9i RAC and its supported and its also possible to use WLI 9.2 with Oracle RAC 10GR2 according to this article http://edocs.bea.com/platform/suppconfigs/configs92/92_over/supported_db.html#1177976
and assuming you apply the appropriate Patch ID: 1VLA, Pass code: SJ88M5JJ
Anyone have any ideas on why WLI 10.2 is not supported with Oracle RAC 10GR2 as its an important architectural issue for us if we can not use RAC. Also does anyone know if BEA has any plans and timescales for when they will be supoporting Oracle RAC with WLI 10.2 ?

As luck would have it CR370015 was submitted to request a post GA certification of WLI 10.2 with Oracle RAC and it passed in the last few days. The docs have been updated to remove the comment on WLI not being supprted. See http://edocs.bea.com/platform/suppconfigs/configs102/102_over/supported_db.html#1178367

  • End of Premier & Sustaining Support for OWB 10gR2

    Hi,
I've read that for OWB 10gR1 the Premier Support ends Jul 2007 (Extended Support not offered) and the Sustaining Support ends Jul 2010 (no maintenance).
Would you have the information for OWB 10gR2 ? => will drive our choice for 10gR2 or 11gR1...
    Thanks in advance,
    Sébastien

    From http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/warehouse/htdocs/owb_10gr2_faq.htm#HowisOWBPackaged:
Is Warehouse Builder 10g Release 2 now licensed as part of the database?
Yes, as of May 2006 Warehouse Builder is now shipped as part of the database and is no longer part of Developer Suite. The licensing and pricing have changed. See below for more details.
What are the key licensing options for Warehouse Builder 10g Release 2?
Warehouse Builder is now comprised of four components as follows
The core ETL features are now provided free with the database Standard Edition, Standard Edition One, and Enterprise Edition. The core features that are provided free are those provided by the current 10g Release 1 version of Warehouse Builder with the addition of "Experts".
So support for OWB10gR2 will follow support for DB 10gR2: Oracle Lifetime Support policy:

  • Installing support for Oracle Designer Objects in an existing repository

We have been using SCM to store Forms and other files
    for our development work.
Now I want to use Repository Reports in the Repository

Can I use the Repository Administration Utility and

  • How to add additional disks on vmware OEL4 and use it for Oracle 10gR2?

I created a virtual machine on vmware workstation 6 and installed OEL4.

from vmware documentation I tried to add more 8 gb disk to the virtual host.

  • Quark Support for Oracle???

I am uploading quark files in the database as BLOBs. Is there any way I can retrieve part or all components of quark file into html format and store in the database? I am using Oracle 9i with intermedia. Please also let me know the scope of Quark support for Oracle (i.e. what Oracle can do and cannot do with Quark files).
    Thanks in Advance.
    Arun Srivastav

This question is probably best asked in the Oracle Text forum. I beleive that Quark can have a text index placed on it, and the text might be able to be filtered to HTML (not images, if supported), but the real experts on this are in the Oracle Text forum.

  • Rep. does not have support for Oracle Designer

We're new to SCM and just useing SCM with JDeveloper.
Sorry for newbie stupidness. Searches of this forum didn't
turn up any hits on 21247 or other strings.
Given: brand new install of SCM. Created a private workarea
with RON. Attempting to use RAU to enable branching and
    versioning.
    I'm having some chicken-vs-the-egg problems. I can't
enable branching in my shared workarea with RAU because it
seems to want to pop up the Migration Dialogue and then
    this error occurs:
    CDR-21247: Error Cannot proceed!
The target repository does not have support for Oracle Designer
    objects
Any help or tip would be greatly appreciated.

    Curt,
If you managed to create a private workarea from the RON then versioning is enabled. You would have enabled this from the RAU.
Oracle 9i JDeveloper release candidate provides a wizard to create the workarea and private branch.
There are now two flavours of the repository, one with Designer + file and folder support and one with just files and folder support.
If you have no structured Designer components you do not require the Designer support to use JDeveloper with Oracle SCM.
I suggest you try the JDeveloper wizards. The RAU also offers a menu to examine repository object state. Check that you have no invalid
objects, they can be recompiled using the RAU.

  • TimesTen Cache Connect support for Oracle 11g

The latest 7.0.5 readme mentioned that "Oracle Release 11gR1 is supported with TimesTen Cache Connect to Oracle on Linux x86 32-bit and 64-bit platforms, and on Windows 32-bit."
What about Solaris 10? It looks like on Solaris 10 only Oracle 10gR2 being supported. What is so specific about Oracle 11?
    Thank you,
    Alex

TimesTen 7.0.5 can be used to cache data from different versions of Oracle database.
The reason why the support for Solaris, AIX, and HP-UX were not at the same time as the Linux platform was because Oracle database 11g was not available on those platforms initially. So TimesTen 7.0.5 was certified to support only the ones available first, and support for other platforms was added as 11g became available on those platforms. It was just timing of the certification, code base is the same.

  • When will SUpport for Oracle 8i Stop??

    Hi All
Can anyone tell me if there is a schedule available for the life time of Oracle products.
Specifically I am interested to know when Oracle will stop supporting Oracle 8i RDBMS.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kim

The certification matrix on Metalink (http://metalink.oracle.com) and available from the OTN home page (under "Get Support") have links to the Oracle desupport notices.
Error Correction Support (what most people refer to as support) for 8.1.7.4 on all platforms will end at the end of 2004. On some platforms, it ended at the end of 2003. Extended support extends that by a few years.

  • Extended support for 10.2.0.3 & 10.2.0.4

    Hi,
we are using Oracle 10.2.0.3 and 10.2.0.4 databases in windows server.
I want to know when is the extended support date for 10.2.0.3 & 10.2.0.4.
    Thanks & Regards,

10.2 extended support ends JUL-2013, however, from APR-2011, you'll need to be on the latest patchset, 10.2.0.5 (previous patchsets won't be patched anymore by CPU/PSU).

  • Different premier support and extended support for E-Business Suite?

    Hi all,
I am very confused about the meaning of premier support and extended support.
What does not include in extendend support?
    Thanks.
    Amy

    Hi Amy,
A lot of it comes down to support fees, and what kind of patches you can get for the products. In addition to the links that Hussein has provided, you might want to look at Steven Chan's blog to see what extended support means in the context of E-Business Suite:
