Hi Hari
Answers to some of your queries -
2. EWM can be SAP EWM as an Add-On to SAP ERP or as SAP EWM as Part of SAP SCM. So in either case you will need a back end ERP (SAP ERP) and if you have SAP EWM as Part of SAP SCM then you will additionally need SAP SCM also.
4. help.sap.com is one place where you can understand the basics of the product. For more info you can contact sap education
5. For more info you can contact sap education
6. EWM is an advanced product as compared to WM. You can find a lot of documents of the advantages on the internet.

  • What is differance between warehouse management and Extended warehouse mgt

    Hi,
I want to understand what is extended warehouse management, You will do this. Whether this is extension of warehouse management , What extrac topics are covered in this module.  Please help me understand.
    Thanks.
    kumar,

    Hi Ashok,
There are various differences between WM and EWM.
One of the most visible and obvious thing that i observed is tracking of serial numbers at the Storage BIn is not in WM but thats now possible in EWM.
EWM is just not a Warehouse Management Solution but it also has various other processes like Labout Management, Material Flow Systems(Warehouse Control Systems generally referred as).
You also have an option of hosting Warehouse Management software on a decentralized system along with ERP.
Also see the link below, it is a good one to start with

  • Warehouse Management: WM vs EWM

    Hi all,
I need information about the features of WM and EWM (included in SCM and ECC 5.0) to compare them: which are the new features, functionality comparison, extensions, etc.
Another question, i read in a SAP doc that EWM is included in ECC 6.0 in mySAP ERP 2005 and  SCM 5.0. so... does it means that EWM runs in both systems? with the same functionality?
    thanks

    Hi Hector,
    Welcome to SDN.
SAP's Warehouse Management functionality include running ERP WM in an integrated scenario, ERP WM in a decentralized scenario, or SCM EWM 5.0 in a decentralized scenario

  • Capacity planning and hardware sizing

    Hi,
I would like to know in detail about capacity planning and hardware sizing while deploying oracle database products. I need to know about properly planning the infrastructure and configuring and deploying the products. Moreover, when should we use RAC,how many nodes, exadata, DR etc. How to size hardwares RAM,Disk for this kind of implemetations.
I know it depends on budget and environment. Still if anyone kindly give some links/docs I will be able to have a decent start in this domain.
    Regards,
    Saikat

See , they all depend on your company policy and the database size that they are going to have.
    1. Size : i have worked on databases sizing from 80G to 2000G , all depending on the client or the industry you are catering to.
    2. hardware and Ram : Server Team should know this better , you can have a simple small server if the DB and application are small and the usage would be less. If it a full fledged system with high load then you need to get in touch with your server team and raise an oracle SR for exact specifications for that database and also plan for some future growth.
    3. RAC : depends on the project if it requires such a setup.
    4. DR : is for disaster management. Also all companies implement this by adopting data guard ( physical standby).
    5. For having a good start , start reading the books and refer to oracle documentation. More you refer , more knowledge you will get .
Start with the basics.... make your basics strong.. and then move ahead with complex setups.

    Hi,
If it is one time requirement, you can run the report LT23 and download the data to excel sheet and donwload material details in another sheet and you can match the temperature column in excel file.
If it is permanent requirement, create a query and attach transaction code to that or write a seperate report for this requirement.
    Please let me know.

  • Q&A db for warehouse management and inventory management

    Hello Everybody,
i read on the help.sap website that standard as well as industry specific versions of Q&A db are available. but the website doesnt say where. i searched a lot but the links dont lead to the actual Q&A db.
i would like to request you to kindly share the Q&A db for inventory management and warehouse management with me as i need it for preparing the AS IS documentation.(preferably automotive industry but if not then even standard Q&A db is fine).
    thanks a lot.

Now QADB will not help to map the clinets requirement. Instead of QADB get AS IS information form Coreusers... thats best practice now....

from Note 545626 - FAQ: Data transfer problems:
Read the explanations in OSS Note 67616.
Bear in mind that, in the structure/table HEADDATA, the for BAPI methods StandardMaterial.SaveData (BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA) and StandardMaterial.SaveReplica (BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEREPLICA) of the business object BUS1001006, you can select the required views and these correspond to the respective maintenance status.
In the segment E1MARAM of the MATMAS IDocs, you can assign the overall maintenance status in the field VPSTA.

  • Oracle Warehouse Management System system implementaion concepts.

Hello, we are using an old version of Oracle Warehouse Management System(back in Retek time). Anyways I think the concepts remaon the same. Can someone please point me to some implementation details document please. Hoping for docs that explain, for example how the concentric putaway logic is implemented in the system. That is, the inner workings of the system. I had an issue report for a bug(4896266) that explains the old logic Oracle used and the new logic they are pursuing for concentric putaway. It was clearly explained. I am unable to attach the doc, but hoping for that kind of docs or a place where to find them.

    Hi,
Ah I see. I'm afraid it's highly unlikely that sort of documentation is available; I've certainly never found anything that useful. I've often had to resort to going through the PL/SQL of various packages to gain an understanding of what the system is doing. Obviously that's a terrible substitute to proper documentation.
I suppose if you were desperate you could take a look at the operations guide for a more recent version and use this as a starting point for further investigation?...
I've just had a quick search of the v13 RDM docs and it has the following to say:
    Directed Movement
When merchandise is putaway, RWMS uses the product location attributes and configurable putaway plan to suggest the location that best conserves space in the reserve locations, or it inquires opportunities such as zone, location type, and status (for example, Different SKU, Same SKU, Empty Loc). The number of storage preferences associated with a particular plan is virtually unlimited, providing significant control over the storage strategy for the overall facility. Inventory Control uses three putaway methods: cube, capacity, and unit.
Cube – Dimension derived from the length, width, and height
Capacity – Capacity measured in units
Unit – Capacity in number of units
All merchandise in the DC is system-directed whether it is for putaway, processing, or picking goods.
Concentric Putaway allows for putaway plan creation that suggests reserve storage locations closest to an item picking location. This is done using XYZ coordinates to measure the distance of storage locations from the pick face. This functionality is controlled for each item within a putaway plan.
    Thanks,
    Dave

  • SAP Hardware sizing for "User-Based sizing".

    Short Text
    User-based Hardware Sizing
    Long Text
    Dear SAP Support,
We would like to know the SAP Hardware sizing for "User-Based sizing".
    Our queries is
    1. In "User-Based sizing", What we have to consider,
the number of users are calculated in the basis of
Concurrent users in the system in a given point of time
    or
total number of users logged into the systems in the whole day?
We have referred the SAP document "Sizing SAP System" and the above
    point are not clearly mentioned.
    Regards,

As the document says there are number of possible definitions for "users" in SAP context...
For understanding assume that no of users logged to the system they consume different resources / areas in the system, some login to the system whole day but they don't work whole day, some user open multiple session to work while other open multiple session but they don't exactly work on it which means (every new session consume memory/resources) like you said their are concurrent users wherein they work and consume resources (SAP WPs)
So before finalizing the sizing first compare the both reports (user based, thorhgput) and read the advantages and disadvantages for both. You can also consult with SAP / Account Manager to help you
as per SAP document there's no point in counting no of pc's, laptops to calculate no of users
