Extending duration of template

I am using a template and want to extend the duration that it animates on screen. I display the timeline and drag the duration of a clip on a layer, however, it only lets me drag it so far. How can I extend the duration of the entire template so I can drag the layer farther?
Thanks.

If you look at the bottom right of the viewer you'll see a display in a eliptical box with the length in frames of the template (probably 300). Click and drag to the right to increase this number. If you want to significantly increase it, hold the SHIFT key down when you drag and the value will increase much faster. Or if you know how much you want to increase it, you can click in the box and type in a number.
Once you've done one of the above, use the zoom slider to zoom out and view your whole timeline and lengthen your template as much as you want.

  • How to extend duration of template?

I am trying to modify a template for use in a short promotional video. I'm working with the Glass Panes - Open NTSC template and would like to double the duration so it's 30 seconds long, instead of 15. Is there some simple way to do this, without having to manipulate each element separately?
Using Motion 3 (Final Cut Studio 2)

I did a MacBreak Studio podcast on how to do this using cloning - you can view it in iTunes by going here:

and clicking the "retiming templates" tutorial.

  • Extending duration of project (template used)

I’m very inexperienced with Motion. Am using the template “Blocks-Detail” and I've only changed the text and photo. The default duration shows "900".
The tumbling blocks effect is too quick – it’s all over in about 3 secs. I need it to last at least twice as long. I’ve tried altering the Duration in the Timing Tab to 1800 but I get the same original effect speed. Did the same in the duration window in the lower right hand corner of my canvas but with no success. I dragged/extended the contents of the timeline to the right, but I made a real mess. Using Final Cut Studio V1, Motion V2.1, Leopard 10.5.2.
I realize I can modify the speed in FCP, but I prefer to alter the speed in Motion itself.
    Any help appreciated.

    hi,
you'll need to drill down the layers in the template to find the blocks that are falling. The animation will either be keyframed or will have a behaviour applied. Often if you drag the layers out to fit your new duration the animations or behaviours dont follow so you just need to drag them out also. Turn the timeline pane on for a clear view of how all the layers a spaced out, and make sure you have the show filters and keyframes button toggled on. The good news is you'll have a much deeper understanding of Motion when you've figured this all out.

  • Extended duration after new Snow Leopard Update

My Mac Pro downloaded a new update the other day and now my Quicktime has a problem with viewing videos. For some strange reason, when I watch a clip or a movie, the duration of the clip or movie is extended by alot. IE: a 30 second clip's duration turns into 6 minutes. The clip itself is viewable, but after the clip ends, the last frame hangs and Quicktime just plays it through the 6 minutes.
    Anyone else have this problem?

I am using MobileMe but have made the switch to iCloud.

  • Can't extend duration

I'm using Final Cut Express 2 and I can't extended the scrolling text in my timeline. If I control click and select duration and change it to 3:00:00 it keeps going back to 02:00:04. No matter what I do, even trying to extend it in the timeline, it won't allow me to go beyond the 02:00:04 length. I need to make it at least 3 minutes because the text is scrolling too fast. I've seen this issue in the past with stills in Final Cut Pro 4.0 HD as well. I'm used to using Adobe Premiere and this was never an issue.

Create your text roll. Before you do anything else go to the Video tab. You'll see the available duration for the text. Dial in a new duration BEFORE you edit it into the timeline. Any length you want, but you have to do it before it's edited into the timeline.

  • Extending duration of scaled image?

In CS6, I key frame a 5 second image so it scales small. After it scales I decide to keep it on screen longer. What is the best way to extend the duration of the image after it has been keyframed?
    Thanks.

Or, if the source is still image (as opposed to a video clip), simply trim it out. To do so, select any of the trim tools (Selection tool, Ripple Edit tool, or Rolling Edit tool), click the end of the track item in the timeline, and drag to extend its duration.

  • Frustration at a 10!!!-Premiere Element 9 extending duration time for disc menu, motion menu buttons

So I have spent over two days trying to extended the duration time for the dvd main menu motion sequence as well as the chapters.  For some reason the main menu sequence is stuck at 29 seconds and chapter sections are stuck at 4 seconds.  I've tried manually putting in more time, but it always resorts back to the above mentioned times.  I noticed there are blue dots under the two run times does that mean the times can't be made longer?  What am I doing wrong here?
    Patrick

    Patrick,
PrE has a 00;00;30;00 Duration limit on the Menus. Some other, full-featured authoring apps., like Adobe Encore (bundled with PrPro), do not. Not sure about Sony's DVD Architect, which is a very popluar, and inexpensive authoring program. This ARTICLE goes into some detail on Menu Durations, but the limit is still 30 sec. in Pre.
Good luck and welcome to the forum,

If you need to make the scroll really long you have to set the duration before you bring it into the timeline. Drag the scroll into the browser from the timeline. In the duration column in the browser change the time to something more than you need. Edit it back into the timeline.

  • SCCM 2007 Site Server Signing Certificate - Any Way to Extend Life of Template

    Good morning,
It looks like my Site Server Signing certificate can't be renewed past the five year validity that the template was given.  So, come Feb. 14th, I can't renew my existing Site Server Signing certificate.  Is there any way to extend the life of the
certificate template so I can just "renew" the existing certificate on my server as opposed to creating and distributing a new one?  Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

  • Extend duration of audio clip ...

An audio clip (music bed) automatically sets it's duration based on the duration of the project. My project is 18 seconds. The clip is just shy of one minute. Point is I know I have handles at the end of the audio clip to extend it's duration so that it continues to play for a few seconds after the last frame of the last clip in the project.
How do I manually extend the duration of the audio clip?
    Thanks.
    -paul.

    Thanks.
It's unbelievable that you cannot simply drag out the audio clip to extend it's duration if it's original duration supports this.

  • The duration of events in iCalendar will not go beyond 3 hours.  How do I extend durations?

When I add a new event in iCalendar I cannot make the duration longer than 3 hours.  How can I make it longer?

You have imported a single image as an image sequence. Remove the image from the project panel and import again and make sure image sequence is not checked.

  • Extend duration of playing video.

I have been sent via email a QuickTime film that has a data size of 3.7 MB. For some reason the duration time of the film is slightly more than 9 seconds. I know the whole film is in my QuickTime, but when I play it I only see the first 9 seconds. I can play with the fast forward key to access different parts of the film but if I click on the play key, I am once again limited to 9 seconds. Is there a way to increase the play time to be the time needed to see the whole video? Or, is there another solution to this problem. Thanks.

Sounds like someone sent you an .mpg file in a .mov container. Or, a regular .mpg file with broken timecode stamps.
MPEG Streamclip (free) can fix the broken timecode.

  • Extending the quiz template in Flash 8

    Hi,
I'm working on a project in Flash 8 where I am making a quiz.
However, the quiz needs to have more features than the templates,
and I haven't learnt enough about Flash to code it myself. Here are
the things I need to do:
    1. Set a time limit so that the quiz automatically ends when the
    time runs out.
    2. Create a different scoring system, like 100 points for
    each correct answer.
    3. A button that when clicked reveals a clue to the answer
    but deducts points.
If anyone can tell me how to do any of these things I will be
very grateful. I've spent two days making the images and stuff for
the quiz, now I just need to be able to modify the template to get
    it how I need.
    Thanks,
    James.

I still can't do it. I've looked everywhere but can't find
    out how.

  • Extending Duration of a Clip

I'm using .mov clip in a segment of a sequence that requires a 20 second duration. Since the clip is only 12 seconds in duration, is there a way to seamlessly loop the clip so that it appears to be one 20 second long clip instead of 12 seconds?
    I tried:
    1. Making a copy and putting them side-by-side, but I get a black frame break between them;
    2. Adding a cross fade, but that breaks the continuity of the clip;
    3. Overlapping two copies: this worked fine EXCEPT for a one-frame-or-so 'jiggle'.
Any other ideas for doing this?
(P.S. Can't reshoot since this is stock footage.)
    Thanks.

    Great QT tip!
And ... I still have a very slight jitter at the edit point; 'good enough for gov't work' as they say, but I prefer a more efficient gov't ... is there a way to fix this jitter, or is this something I have to live with?
Also, I tried to add a crossfade between the clips (as someone else suggested) and trimmed the tail of the 1st clip and the head of the 2nd clip by 15 frames from each. Got the same slight jitter as when I did the cut and paste in QT.
    Thanks.
