Extending useful life without automatic adjustments

Our Assets department would like to extend the original and remaining life of all assets but DO NOT want the system to automatically adjust depreciation; they want to adjust this manually somehow.
Is a change in useful life without automatic adjustments possible?  The only thing I could think of is to temporarily change the GL account that is assigned for depreciation so at least all the adjustments would be gathered in different GL accounts for prior periods so the changes can be dealt with manually.

Hi,
you could change to a depreciation method which would NOT consider the useful life of the asset, such as stated percentage rate, or manual depreciation.
If your depreciation method is based on useful life (or remaining useful life) this would be contradictive if it wouldn´t change / be adjusted.

  • How to use "Adjustment Level " in automatic adjustments rule

Now we are setting up BPC for legal consolidation.
we use BPC 7.0MS SP4 Version.
I want to use some result of automatic adjustment rules for source data, so I tried to use adjustment level in automatic adjustments rules.
I was setting up A rule's (to use source data) adjustment level is 0 and B rule's level is 1,
the result of SPRUNCONSO were "Error" CSD-150 and CSD-160.
Please let me know how to use adjustment level option.
    Thanks.

    Hello :
    CSD-150
Check the method between METHOD Table and your ownership Cube. Check your Rules between the RULES Table and The ELIM Table. Check The INTCo.

  • Forum Mods, Please make this a sticky: BlackBerry PlayBook battery power charge, discharge characteristics, and guidance on extending battery life

BlackBerry PlayBook battery power charge, discharge characteristics, and guidance on extending battery life
    KB27705
    Overview
The BlackBerry PlayBook may come to a power state where it is unable to power on; a Yellow LED may flash in a sequence of 5 flashes, the BlackBerry PlayBook may boot up to the BlackBerry PlayBook Logo and then power off, may not power on at all.
    Discharge behavior under normal use:
Under normal active use, a battery drained to 10% will cause the device to prompt the BlackBerry PlayBook user (notification and audible beep)
Without connecting a charger the device will automatically shut down at 3.53V (0%)
Pressing the power button may allow successful boot, but it will turn off again very quickly
    Discharge behavior under no use:
A device left unused but in ‘Stand By’ will warn the BlackBerry PlayBook user at 10% (notification and audible beep)
The warning may not be noticed and the device will go back to ‘Stand By’
Letting the device drain in standby mode drains the battery slower, but more completely
Device will still shut off at 3.53V (0%), but it less likely to successfully boot afterwards
    Discharge behavior under 3.53V (0%):
If the device is left to shutoff, the battery will continue to drain below 3.53V due to quiescent current draw from the motherboard and the battery fuel gauge
With the battery between 2.7V-3.53V, pressing the power button causes the LED to flash a pattern (1 solid red light followed by 5 yellow blinks)  to indicate low battery (PlayBook Tablet OS version 1.0.5, and above)
Below 2.7V there is no activity, or LED pattern displayed
    Charge Behaviour:
The provided charger should be used to charge the device. The optional 12 volt rapid charger is may reduce charging times
to approximately 3 to 4 hrs. Standard Blackberry smartphone chargers, other AC adapter USB chargers, or computer USB ports
are not recommended for the sole purpose of charging the PlayBook as with these methods it may take more that 12 hours to
    charge the BlackBerry Playbook.
If the battery voltage is below 3.53V(0%) then the charging behaviour is dependent on the software version.  The charging code will limit the charging current to under 400 milliamps, during which time, it may take an hour to reach 3.53 Volts. Once the battery voltage rises past 3.53 volts, then "high-rate" charging will start. If, after charging the Tablet for 4 to 6 hours still does not result in LED activity, attempt to force power on the BlackBerry Playbook by pressing and holding only the Power Button for only 20 seconds.
Prior to BlackBerry Tablet OS 1.0.5:
A BlackBerry PlayBook will never charge while powered off in BlackBerry Tablet OS versions prior to 1.0.5.
The device will show a red light when the charger is connected and then nothing more
Repeated connection of the charger can recover the device in some instances.
Once the battery voltage rises above 3.53V the system will boot and the UI will show charging
Starting in BlackBerry Tablet OS 1.0.5:
The device will show a solid red LED, followed by a solid yellow LED as the device boots into charging mode.  This is followed by a yellow pulsating LED indicating charging in progress.
The time span between the red and yellow lights can be as long as 45 seconds as the device boots into charging mode.
Once the yellow LED illuminates, the device can be started, but it is advisable to let it charge for at least 3.5 hours to achieve a sufficient charge.
The device will show a solid green LED once the device is fully charged.
Starting in BlackBerry Tablet OS 2.0.1:
Once the yellow LED begins pulsating indicating charging mode, if the BlackBerry PlayBook is disconnected from the charger, the following graphic will be displayed on the screen, indicating charging is not complete, and to reconnect the power source. The graphic will be displayed for 20 seconds before the BlackBerry® PlayBook powers off if the power source is not reconnected. The same graphic will also be displayed if the BlackBerry PlayBook is turned on and there is not sufficient power to perform the boot process.
If the BlackBerry PlayBook is plugged into a power source, and the power button is pressed to power on the device, the following graphic will be displayed if there is not sufficient power to perform the boot process. If this occurs, the BlackBerry PlayBook should be left plugged in to gain enough charge to boot.
    Additional Information
Turning off the BlackBerry PlayBook and using standby mode.

On the status bar, tap the Bluetooth icon and set the Bluetooth switch to Off
Pause apps when you show the home screen or switch between apps  On the status bar, tap the Options icon, select the General tab and set the Application Behavior switch to Paused
With the upgrade to PlayBook OS 2.1.0.1032 the following message may be displayed when connecting the Playbook to a PC using the micro-USB cable:
Unable to charge battery with connected source
This message is displayed because the voltage provided is insufficient for charging. The USB voltage is limited to 384mA even if the maximum tolerance is 500mA. The voltage is limited to 384mA by design to avoid violating the USB specification which states USB devices cannot draw more than 500mA from the USB port.

  • Change in Useful life of asset in mid year, but the previous posted depreciation should not be changed

    Dear Experts,
I have a requirement in one of my client, We need to extend the useful life of asset in mid of an asset fiscal year and the depreciation which was posted in the previous should not be changed.
    Requirement:
Useful life of asset  is to be extended after completing depreciation for 4 years and in-between the current asset fiscal year. Provided the present asset value has to be taken as the new book value of the asset and the depreciation posted henceforth to be posted based on the new asset value till the remaining useful life.
Previously posted depreciation should be unchanged.
    Analysis:
    1.      The fiscal Year followed - October to September.
    2.      The useful life of asset will be changed, and the depreciated value posted till 31/mar 2014 will have the old depreciation value ( based on the original acquisition value)
    3.      The Depreciation key used in of type LINR (linear), depreciation value will be calculated based on the Book value till the asset value becomes ZERO at the end of useful life of the asset.
    4.      We can change the useful life of the asset at the end of a Asset fiscal year say FY- 2014, if this is done the existing configuration will take the Book value of the asset at the end of the Fiscal as the asset value and the new depreciation will be calculated based on the new useful life of the asset. The asset value will become ZERO at the end of the newly changed Useful Life.
    5.      But the requirement is that the useful life of the asset will be changed exactly half way in between existing Asset fiscal (i.e., 31/03/2014), if this is done system will change the depreciation value based on the new useful life ( since the Dep Key is LINR), but the depreciation value will change from the fiscal start say October 2013 to September 2014 ), which will not satisfy the requirement of the client. Since the depreciation which is already posted from October 2013 to March 2014 should not be changed.
    Note:
    1. We are not willing to retire the asset and create a new asset with the remaining book value as asset value and start depreciation.
Kindly let me know if the requirement can be fulfilled without retiring the asset.

    Dear All,
    This requirement has been completed.
    1. I created New Multi level valuation method with base 26 ( Net book value w/o Revaluation ).
    2. New depreciation key was created and the above method was assigned to it. I never changed the Base method.
    3. new interval was created in the depreciation area, with this created dep key and extended the useful life of the asset. The depreciation was calculated according to the requirement.
Originally the asset had useful life of  5 Years, I changed the asset useful life to 8 years now with new Depreciation key 2001.
Depreciation was already posted to the asset till 04- 2013 for an amount of 148.27 SAR.
Net Book value carried forward to 2013 = 1575.56 SAR
Depreciation already posted till 4th period =   148.27 SAR
Current Net book value after useful life extension           = 1427.29 SAR .
Now the new depreciation key 2001 with Multilevel method 201, will take this Net-book value as Asset value and will depreciate along the useful life of the asset till it becomes zero.
    Planned depreciation of 2013 ( remaining 6 months) = 166.24 SAR
    Planned depreciation of 2014 = 225.96 SAR
    Planned depreciation of 2015 = 225.96 SAR
    Planned depreciation of 2016 = 225.96 SAR
    Planned depreciation of 2017 = 225.96 SAR
    Planned depreciation of 2018 = 225.96 SAR
    Planned depreciation of 2019 = 131.25 SAR
Total      = 1427.29 SAR ( the Asset value becomes zero at the end of its remaining useful life.
The previously posted depreciation from 01.01.2013 to 30.04.2013 was untouched.

  • IE crashes after extended use of plug-in

    Hi all:
After moving to v1.4.2 I've noticed that IE will throw an exception after extended use of the plug-in. By extended use I mean we navigate to applet pages and cycle through over and over (which by the way is part of the normal use of our web site).
Our web site makes use of four different applets, one of which is a larger graphical applet that makes use of a large amount of memory. IE seems to consistely crash upon initialization of this larger applet (after repeated cycles) but not exclusively so. If we cycle between the three other applets without going to the larger one, IE will eventually crash, it just takes longer to do so. This leads me to think that memory is an issue here. Could there be a memory leak in 1.4.2?
We've been able to reproduce this IE exception consistently on a Windows 2000 platform running IE v6.0.2800.1106 and with java plug-in versions 1.4.2, 1.4.2_02, and 1.4.2_03. IE crashes even faster when we do this test on Windows Me.
I know there's got to be others of you out there that have seen this problem. Have any of you found good workarounds for this? Staying on version 1.4.1_06 is not possible for us because of the "zip file is closed" exception that is always thrown when you have caching turned on and you call Crypt.getInstance. Sun's workaround for this only works the first two times you use the applet in the browser session. The third or fourth time it always seems to produce the exception.
I know this isn't a lot of information but any help would be greatly appreciated.
The IE exception log is below.

  • Depriciation key and useful life periods in asset master should in display mode only

    Hi all
At the time of creation asset master AS01 we are given the Asset class, company code and similar of asset (1) then we click enter button we will get Create asset: master data screen here in general tab we enter the description and in time dependent tab we enter cost center manually
    But
When we click on Depreciation tab here the  Depreciation key and use life fields are automatically come with Dep.key(ABC) and use life(15) (Because we maintained in OAYZ)
Here user have a chance to change the Dep.key(ABC) and use life(15).so my requirement is these two fields are display with only display mode .
User don’t have chance to modify this.

    Hi Anil,
The screen layout for Asset and its depreciation tab are different. You have to make these fields as Display only in the screen layout. This can be done using T-Code AO21. Below are the screenshots for the path and screen layout for your reference. This should solve your issue

  • Useful Life in Asset Master

    Hello
We have created one fixed asset with a capitalization date as 20.10.2004.
In the Depreciation Areas, we have given the Depreciation Starting Date as "01.01.2008"
and rate of Depreciation is 16.21%
userful life maintained in the master data is 5 Years
Total Asset Acquistion value is 85.04$. System calculated the depreciation till 20.10.2009 from 01.01.2008 @ 16.21%. After that, the system is not calculated the depreciation from 21.10.2009.
Based on the above points, our understandings are as follows:
    (a) System considered the capitlization date + useful life period for depreciation calculation. Hence no planned depreciation is appearing in AW01N from 21.10.2009
    (b) System considered the rate of depreciation based on depreciation key (16.21%) even thou, the useful life is maintained as 5 years
Does my observations are correct ? please comment
Besides, we need the following suggestions from you
Does it possible to increase the useful life in the fixed asset master (since, the life  period is not expired and finance wants to consider the depreciation amount from 20.10.2009 onwards till the asset exprie)
If yes, what is the step by step procedure to carry such changes ?
    Kindly revert
    Regards
    Anilkumar

youare saying corret But you should be follow some  rules for calucation of deprecation
System considered the capitalization date + useful life period for depreciation calculation not only this
the system should be consideration the depreciation key , useful life , periods , ordinary depreciation for calculation depreciation  and in depreciation areas tab in asset master  we have to maintain like 1depreciation key 2.useful life 3.periods 4. ordinary depreciation start .if we give ordinary depreciation start date 21.10.2009 system will be calculated depreciation  21.10.2009 onwards. then only system  can run depreciation plan wise in AW01N .
first we give the  ordinary depreciation start date in depreciation area tab in asset master .system  automatically will calculate depreciation  from these date on words.
here Depreciation key determines for calculating the depreciation amount which controls the base method , period control method ,multiple method , decline balance method.
which is possible to increase the useful life in asset master and also we can run depreciation from 20.10.2009 onwards till expire asset
    for this configuration
1.Go for AFAMS multiple method and give the parameters such as acciquistion year ,  periods
2.we have to activate depreciation key in AFAMA
3.in as02  in depreciation area tab here we have to give the depreciation key , useful life , periods , ordinary depreciation start date
I hope this is very useful

  • Problem with balance carry forward business rule and automatic adjustments

    Hi All,
I faced with issue when run BCF business rule and consolidation process. According sap courses BPC440 members with A(automatic adjustments) type should carry forward automatically, and I(imputable), M (adjustments) members should carry forwarded by bcf business rule.
When I set up my BCF business rule I use property "Category_for_ope" in Category dimension. But this rule not work properly, then I use notes:
1784365 - Category_for_ope property should not effect Consolidation.
1902677 - The property category_for_ope shall work for consolidation
After applying those notes, system work as I aspect. After i run consolidation first time system carry forward my automatic adjustment from Category "Expected" to "PLAN_Y0" and this is correct!!!. But when i run consolidation process second and third time system duplicated automatic adjustments in Category "PLAN_Y0".
Someone can help me with this Issue?
    And sorry for my english

    Hi,
Can you try as follows :
    *RUN_PROGRAM COPYOPENING
    CATEGORY = %C_CATEGORY_SET%
    CURRENCY = %RPTCURRENCY_SET%
    TID_RA = %TIME_SET%
    *ENDRUN_PROGRAM
    hope it helps...

  • Why should useful life be given in case of PRC depr type?

    Hi Experts,
I have no answer for that quation that if i have a depreciation type which is straight line but under calculation tab the type is PRC, then in asset master data why do i have to give a useful life for this asset.
I cannot add a new asset belonging such an asset class where this type of depreciation is linked, so if the useful life is 0, than the system doesnt let me add the asset!
    Im using SAP 2007A SP01  PL9.
I thought that when PRC is used then example:Percentage is 14.5%
    Asset acquisition value is 1000.
Deprecation value/year is 1000*14.5=145. Monthly->145/12 is the deprection val. But then why is useful life asked??
Is it new sap logic or bug or incorrect setting for my DB?
    Any idea would be appreciated.

The Fixed assets system will automatically write the balance of the asset off at the end of the useful life, so this feild is required for all calculations.
If you want to maintain assets then put a useful life of 999 periods as a workaround

  • FIXED ASSETS - USEFUL LIFE

    Hi,
I´m modifying the useful life of some fixed assets and don´t have problems since it makes the amortization assessed since they are and it me re-calculates those who even remain.
The problem is that they request that, in first foreseen, amortization does not load the difference that exists between the aortas  and that correspondent with the new useful life. There is way of doing that it first amortization goes out without the adjustment?
    Thanks in advance.-

    Hi Markus,
Sorry to come back to you regarding this question. Unfortunately we are not still on 6.0 so we can't take advantage of the new functionality.
I am now trying to make an asset transfer through transaction ABUMN but the new asset is taking into account the capitalisation value of the original asset rather than the net book value that we would need the system to consider to calculate the new depreciation values.
Do you know if there is a way to solve this?
    Thanks a lot. Best regards

How can I download a song without automatically launching/putting it into iTunes? I download my royalty-free music from VideoBlocks and it automatically launches iTunes and plays the song in iTunes. I just want to save it to a location without going through iTunes. How do I do so?

Open your web browser's preferences and set it not to automatically open safe files. If you're using Safari, this option is in the General tab.

  • Using dvt without having menu??

    Dear All,
I want to use DVT without having a menu,(i am using no navigation in my books) is it applicable??
    Thanks

This use case will need a lot of modifications. You will have to use the extension mechanisms in dvt to accomplish those.
OOTB dvt relies on the DISC api to find books, pages and portlets and decorates them with the appropriate menu items. I am not sure the DISC api will return menu items inside a portlet within a shell.
Using extension you can modify/extend LookAndFeelInjector.js#_injectCustomizeLinkForNavigable to add menu items within your portlet menu.

  • Extend characteristic length without deleting any data

    Hi All,
I have to change an info object's length. However, this info object is used in some infocubes and DSOs (that generate SID).
Is there a way on extending chrs. length without deleting any data that is contained in the infoproviders.?
They've really huge data volumes. I dont want to delete all the data and re-upload.

  • Useful Life for Assets and Asset Sub Numbers

I am just learning about SAP Asset Accounting, for an implementation project, and I have a question about the Useful life of an Asset Sub Number when setting up Assets with Asset Sub numbers.
Does the useful life of the Asset Sub number have to be the same as the useful life of the Asset Main number?
I would like to know if I can set up an Asset, such as a building, with the asset main number, that has a useful life of say 40 years, then create asset sub numbers for things like the HVAC system that has a useful life of say 15 years.
I am not sure if it would be better to use a group asset for this situation or not.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me with this!
    Amy Hay

    Amy,
"Does the useful life of the Asset Sub number have to be the same as the useful life of the Asset Main number?"
No.  A sub number can have completely different attributes from it's main asset (cost center, order, keys, UL...).
The situation you're describing is possible and from a design perspective it <i>can</i> be a good idea.  Yes, you can create a main asset "Building" with a 40 year UL, but then have sub-assets for other major components (HVAC, Elevator, Security).  This is one of the two types of design techniques for sub assets (a component based design).  The other is based on the year of capital improvements.  For instance, you could create a subasset "2007" and settle all projects related to capital improvements to that subasset.  That way you would get visibility into capital acquisitions in FIAA reporting without having to goto CO or PS.
I would definitely <b>not</b> recommend using group assets.  Group assets are used for composite depreciation scenarios and do more than just "group" similar records together.
