Thanks,
DaveThere are a few places where you can tap into the logging features of WLS.
Have you taken a look at weblogic.logging.NonCatalogLoger?

Guys,
How can I read the server logs via API ?
Explaining: I wanna see the Weblogic Server Logs thats is displayed in console or server logs. Then I will write a Java code that read theses files via WebLogic API and write it in a JSP page! Is it Possible ?
Thanks in advanced!Hi,
You can use the Following command to Output the Local/Remote Server Logs...Now in your Java Code Fetch this Output and format it / Display it according to your Need.
java weblogic.Admin -url t3://AdminAddress:7001 -username weblogic -password weblogic SERVERLOG
In the Above command even you can define the Server name as well to Fetch the Logs from Some Managed Servers as well..By default u get Logs for AdminServer.
Thanks

Edited by: 993281 on Mar 12, 2013 2:52 AMDid you get an answer to this problem? The opmnctl registerinstance failed with exactly the same error. In my case I know I misspelled the domain name during the install dialog and now need to correct the name, but I can't find where the name is located to correct it or which tool to use or which file I should edit? I looked through the Weblogic admin console and EM admin console but with no luck. Do you or anyone else know how I can edit the name of the host so I can move forward with my installation? It seems like it would be simple to find and change. Thanks.

I believe you can read log files using admin console. Go to Diagnostic--> logs and select the server which logs you want to see.

Errors in Weblogic server log for Weblogic Portal
Hi,
I apologize if the question has been posted and answered.. I had searched but couldn't find anything in this forum.
My post is a bit lengthy as I will be providing as much details as possible.. sorry about that.. :)
I am new to Weblogic server and Weblogic Portal.. in fact I have never worked on portals. I have installed the Weblogic Portal 10.3.2 along with the Weblogic. I have used quickstart to create a domain. There I have configured the following data sources:
appsGroupSpaceDataSource
cgDataSource
cgDataSource-nonXA
p13nDataSource
portalDataSource
portalDataSourceAlwaysXA
portalDataSourceNeverXA
My database is oracle 11g. I have created a user and granted the user all the admin roles and priviledges
The database connection test had worked for all the sources except appsGroupSpaceDataSource where the test query SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SYSTABLES failed as there was no such table in the database.
I had run the following scripts:
Drop/Create Groupspace Database Objects (appsGroupSpaceDataSource )
Drop/Create P13N Database Objects (p13nDataSource)
Drop/Create Content Database Objects (p13nDataSource)
Drop/Create Portal Database Objects (p13nDataSource)
There were no scripts to run for the other data sources.
After installation whenever I am starting the admin server I am seeing this error in the console:
<Sep 17, 2010 12:48:05 PM IST> <Error> <JDBC> <BEA-001112> <Test "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SYSTABLES" set up for pool "appsGroupSpaceDataSource" failed with exception: "java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
".>
<Sep 17, 2010 12:48:05 PM IST> <Error> <JDBC> <BEA-001112> <Test "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SYSTABLES" set up for pool "cgDataSource" failed with exception: "java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
".>
<Sep 17, 2010 12:48:06 PM IST> <Error> <JDBC> <BEA-001112> <Test "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SYSTABLES" set up for pool "cgDataSource-nonXA" failed with exception: "java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
".>
<Sep 17, 2010 12:48:06 PM IST> <Error> <JDBC> <BEA-001112> <Test "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SYSTABLES" set up for pool "p13nDataSource" failed with exception: "java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
".>
<Sep 17, 2010 12:48:07 PM IST> <Error> <JDBC> <BEA-001112> <Test "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SYSTABLES" set up for pool "portalDataSource" failed with exception: "java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
".>
And the errors are happening in an infinite loop....
I checked and there is no table created in that name in the database.. and being totally new to weblogic I am not sure where else to check.
It would be great if some one could help me track the cause and resolve this..
Thanks a lot for reading the long post.. and double thanks for a reply.. :)
Edited by: 795423 on Sep 17, 2010 12:17 AMI digged in the weblogic installation directory and it seems like the domain configuration wizard messed up the jdbc configs for the data sources.
The config xml files for the data sources in the /domain root/config/jdbc directory had oracle driver but the test query was for pointbase. I double checked from the database.xml file in the init-info directory and corrected the entry in the datasource config xmls and voila!.. the errors were gone.
I am not sure if this was the right approach and whether i have solved the issue or simply patched it.. so I am keeping the question open. If any one has any inputs I will be grateful.
If the mods/admins feel that the thread should be marked as solved I will surely do so.
Thanks. -
View weblogic server logs and application logs
Hi All,
Is there any way to view log files of Weblogic Admin Server, managed server and application logs through OEM console. ( In text editor-- full file / tail -f output)..
Thanks | KranthiThanks Rob.
Even from Weblogic Admin console we cannot view complete log file only some components are shown.
Just thinking will it be a good idea to execute shell script to view log file from Target-Execute Host Command.

Edited by: RRA on Dec 7, 2012 12:33 PMHi,
You can check the server diagnostic logs. There can be multiple reasons for this to occur.
As you said, 'during the operation of application', does the call to go to some other server? -
Extending weblogic server with discussion server
Hi,
I'm working on a Webcenter Portal App. I needed a discussion forum and announcement module and to add them discussion server have to been loaded.
I chose the "Extend a Domain" box and now i'm on the screen of blanks :
1) What is Driver? To oracle docs, i have to choose "for instance connections". which one do i check?
2) What is DMBS? to oracle docs again, it says if you choose "for instance connections" the service must be your database name. but i tried this it didn't work.
Error is : A connection was established to the database but no rows were returned from the test SQL statement
3) What is host? I know what host is, sure :) but what does it mean? my database con host or discussion server's host ..
Thanks in advance.
Edited by: erdo on 16.Ağu.2012 15:33If you are trying to extend the domain, here are answers for your queries,
1) What is Driver? To oracle docs, i have to choose "for instance connections". which one do i check?
Oracle Thin Driver(Default option)
2) What is DMBS? to oracle docs again, it says if you choose "for instance connections" the service must be your database name. but i tried this it didn't work.
Your Database Service name
Error is : A connection was established to the database but no rows were returned from the test SQL statement

Your Database server name
Make sure you have created schemas(like Dev_Discussions) before exted the domain -
WebLogic Server 10.0 Logging Configuration
Does anyone know if there is a way to update / modify / configure the logging for WebLogic Server logs to make the time stamp on log entries go out to milliseconds? Right now log entries only have precision to seconds, but we want and need to see them out to the millisecond.
We are well aware that log4j is an option, but that seems to require coding and we were hoping to avoid that given our only additional need was precision out to milliseconds.
Thanks.
MarcYou may want to ask in the WebLogic Server - Diagnostics / WLDF / SNMP forum. They own logging.
I asked them to reply here. -

rohitHi,
you see that message: "The password must be at least 8 alphanumeric characters with at least one number or special character." ?
The password: The weblogic password you provide when prompted
must be at least: minimal condition for secure passwords enforced on WLS by default
at least 8 alphanumeric characters: no 7 but eight or more characters
with at least one number or special character: password should have a number in it or an "@" "-" or similar
E.g.
weblogic1
is one password option that would meet that requirement

Key control of the time control
What I really like about the time control that it is so easy to set using the arrow keys on my keyboard. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work with the minutes and seconds. Anyone have an explanation for this? Using 7.1 on XP.
