Extension Builder Membership question

Hi just a qucik question.
If I sign up for extension builder membership for one month and create an extension will my main exported extension zxp still work after my membership expires?
Im not sure how the membership works I basically dont want to create an extension then have to pay $100+ dollars a year to use it. Does that make sense?
Thanks
Norm

I'm not an Adobe employee, but as far as I can tell yes, it will work (it wouldn't make any sense otherwise ).

  • Questions about migrating Configurator 4 PS panel to Extension Builder 3.

    Hello,
I am in the process of creating a set of Photoshop tools that I'm hoping to release on Adobe Exchange in the very near future. The tools are a set of javascript files that are executed through a simple panel interface consisting of 4 buttons. There is also a logo at the top of the panel that links to a tutorial section on my website (kind of like the Adobe Paper Texture Pro panel if you're familiar with it).
I initially created the panel using Configurator 4 (RIP). Unfortunately, I only recently found out about Adobe's plans to remove Flash based Extension Panel functionality. I've switched over to Extension Builder 3, so I can submit my Extension to Adobe for approval as soon as possible. The main issue is that I am not a programmer. I'm learning, and I'm actually quite pleased with the results so far, but there have been plenty of headaches along the way. As for the migration to Extension Builder 3, I've been able to work around or find solutions to most of the issues, but there are still a few that I'm hoping someone can shed some light on:
How do you create a 'fly-out' menu for a panel? I wasn't sure how to do this in Configurator 4 either, but at least they provided an 'About' menu option above the standard 'Close' and 'Close Tab' menu options.
This is minor, but when dragging the panel around, I noticed that the contents of the panel disappear and you only see the gray background color. The panel from Configurator didn't do this (you could see the contents at all time). Is there a way around this?
As mentioned above, I have a logo that used to link to the tutorial for the tool on my website. I searched around, and it seems like something that is simply not possible to do anymore. This is unfortunate, because I wanted to provide users with easy access to the tutorial page. Is it possible to open a new panel from another panel? That way, I could at least have the tutorial open as a new panel within Photoshop. (I just noticed a potential answer to this in another thread - though it may be slightly over my head)
I took a look at the HTML5, ADOBE authored Adobe Layer Renamer, but that just makes me more nervous because it has the dragging problem AND no additional fly-out menus. Ideally, I'd prefer it if users didn't have to open Adobe Exchange just to see instructions or information about my Extension.
Sorry for the lengthy post, but I appreciate any assistance with these issues!
    Lee

    Hello Lee,
My name is Jeff.   I am similar to your situation where I am not really much of a programmer, but using scripts exported to .jsx files from actions in PS, and I was using Configurator to build a really massive (hundreds of buttons/scripts accordians etc) panel in 3.0,  released it publicly, but retracted because of certain issues and then finally realizing I need to migrate it all over to HTML5 and Extension Builder 3.
I am also at about the same point as you... although I've been trying out the jquery frameworks to build my tabs and other GUI elements... figured out last week how to use custom images for the buttons etc.
I don't know if I am going to need a panel-flyout menu option but I am trying to figure out how to put in regular text-box or pull-down menus... in configurator I found a neat trick to drag and drop accordian-containers into each other... then it acts like a pull-down menu when you have buttons in there.     The problem is html5 and extensionbuilder 3 do not work like this... I can't figure out how to make nested tabs yet or have a GUI pull-down or text-box actually send information to my .jsx files and change them.
Let's keep this forum active and help each other, we all have great ideas to contribute to the extensability of these long-cherished tools and it should not be hard... or else we're all just going to go back to using actions, lol.      For now, I have avoided some issues in configurator, still exporting my panels but with the upcoming release of non-flash-support in PS then people won't be able to use them unless they had the previous PS installed already.      However, you can create your own installers to place the extensions into the right folders, you don't need the .ZXP or exchange to publish or sell your extensions, it's only for a pathway that helps us all to legitamize our projects and become producers through the exchange portal or add-ons or whatever it ends up being.   But personally I am using a freeware program that makes simple installers and having it place the folders into the extension panels folders... then when PS opens there is the extension -- that is all that Extension manager is doing... taking your ZIP (ZXP) and unzipping it to the right folders.
What upsets me is how easy they made it with configurator for me to make a very advanced panel... then pulled the rug out and now it is going to take a lot of work and learning for me to understand how to build the same GUI panels you see attached but in HTML 5....  I will try to share and help out especially with people like us where we have built something in configurator and now we need to port/migrate it to html5/extension builder 3.     Easier said than done. :/

  • How to uninstall CS Extension Builder 1.5 or update to 2.0?

    Hi,
I'm in Flash Builder 4.6. Bellow is a long procedure on why I'm here asking this simple question. But a shorter version of my question is exactly the title of this thread: How can I uninstall 1.5 or, better, simply upgrade to 2.0? Does someone know if it's possible without uninstalling Flash Builder completly?
Here are the (ho so long and painfully long to read) steps that leads to my problem:
I've installed CS Extension Builder 1.5 TRIAL whitout any issues. Even coded some working extensions.
Then, a license have been bought.
I've updated the files through the Install Software menu. No problems.
To what I can remember, there was no menu option at this point in the Help menu to get information about the license or log out from the Adobe ID
Later, I had to show to my coworkers how to install the CS Extension plugin into Flash Builder. A few weeks have already went by since I've done it myself, so just to remember how to do it properly, I figured I should try to do it again.
Help/Install Software/What's Already Installed/Selected all CS Extension releated plugins/Uninstall/Restard Flash Builder
Problem #1: All the extension features and menu options are still in Flash Builder. BUT, they are correctly removed from the "Installed Software" window.
I've searched all over the Internet, I've done nothing wrong. The right way to remove a plugin is from the Installed Software window.
So, how to clean CS Extension from Eclipse?
I looked at the CS Extension plugin package to find back which files were copied in the plugins folder of Eclipse and figured I could just remove them manually. Which I did.
    Restart Flash Builder
CS Extension Builder seems to be sucessfully removed from Eclipse.
Problem #2: While trying to re-install CS Extension Builder 1.5, Eclipse throws an error. Some files I've removed are missing. Damn.
Those files were still in my Recycle Bin, so I restored them.
    Install again
    Restart
    Success
Note that here, 2 new menu options in the Help menu are available to me: one to get information about my license and one to log out from my Adobe ID. There is also a link at the bottom left of Eclipse where I see the Adobe ID register name.
I don't remember if I needed to enter my serial key the first time, but this one, it seems that only linking Eclipse with the Adobe account does the trick.
Ok. So far so good, everything's working fine again. But ho, suprise, CS Extension 2 is released and my coworkers are getting this copy instead of 1.5. So hey, I need to upgrade too.
I figured that I didn't need to uninstall 1.5. Just installing the new files should do it. So Help/Install New Software/Add/Local/CS Extension 2 package/Update
It tells me that I already have CS Extension Builder and that an upgrade will be done instead. Great, that's what I needed.
    Everyting updates. No errors.
    Restart
Problem #3: I'm stuck with 1.5. No options to create a project in CS6, and if I go to Help/About Create Suite Extension Builder, it's still displaying the 1.5 panel (my coworkers are getting the red panel, I still have the gray one).
I do the exact same steps than before (uninstall via Eclipse all plugins related to CS Extension and manually remove the files, restart Eclipse, voilà it's gone).
But before trying to install again, I read somewhere that I should clean the Installation History to make sure Eclipse unlink itself from the old versions of the files. So I clear everything, leaving the history blank but the Current Installation (which doesn't contains any references to CS Extension.
    Restart Eclipse
    Try to install 2.0
Same error that is telling my that some files are missing (like com.adobe.cside. core....).
Get back the plugin files from the recycle bin.
Now it works but version 1.5 is back
I notice in the Installation History that a state is there, not containing any CS plugins. I say hey, why not trying to revert there.
Problem #4 and last one: Now not only I'm still stuck with 1.5, which asn't been unistalled, but the plugins are still in the Installed Software list and, worse, the Uninstall button is grayed out on CS Extension plugins...
What is going on here! I just want to uninstall and upgrade! Everything I did is a mess, and I know the easy way out is probably to re-install Flash Builder. But I don't want to know how to easily fix it, I want to know WHY it happened, and if it can be fixed. And if you want the real reason... (I have tons of projects in there, and I'm lazy. I don't want to import them all again. But it's better just to say I want to get a lesson from this, don't you agree.)
Thanks to anybody who might have any kind of hint!
    David
PS: Sorry if my english syntax isn't perfect. I'm trying very hard.

I didn't answered my question, but I got it to work without having to re-install.
Delete all these files and folders from the eclipse/plugins and eclipse/features folder of your Flash Builder installation folder
    com.adobe.cslib
    com.adobe.inverurie
    com.adobe.xmp
Open the CS Extension Builder plugin package
Copy all .jar files from the plugin directory and paste them into the eclipse/plugins folder of the Flash Builder installation
Copy all .jar files from the features directory and paste them into the eclipse/features folder of the Flash Builder installation
Extract every jar (ex: com.adobe.cside.feature_2.0.0.4-33034.jar file is extracted into a com.adobe.cside.feature_2.0.0.4-33034 folder)
    Delete the .jar files
    Restart Flash Builder
Everything works fine so far. There is a small glitch where the "CS Extension Builder Start Page" seems to miss its stylesheet, but the panel is working anyway. At this point, it's fine by me. And I'm still not able to uninstall the plugin with the "Installed Software" window (the button is grayed out).
So much for being lazy. And for wanting to repair my mistakes, of course.

  • Error while installing Extension Builder 3 in Eclipse

    Hi,
While installing the extension builder 3.0 zip which was downloaded from pre release forum in eclipse 4.1 there is an error comming
Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
Software being installed: Adobe Extension Builder 3 1.0.0.201305101145 (com.adobe.cside.html.feature.feature.group 1.0.0.201305101145)
I have FB4.6 and 4.7 installed in my machine with premiere pro cc and cs6
Working with windows 7 64 bit machine.
Please suggest a solution to complete the installation so that i can start development for Premiere pro CC HTML 5 panel.

    Hi,
Here is my response to your questions:
    1. The HTML5 extensions will work almost exactly the same as Flex extensions in terms of distribution and where they are located. They can be packaged as a ZXP and the panel will appear under Window->Extensions.
    2. Extension Builder 2.1 comes with Flash Builder 4.6 included in the installer and both are installed at the same time. If the installer detects an already existing installation of Flash Builder 4.5 or 4.6, it will install the plugin into the already existing instance. Therefore you should not have to do anything apart from opening up Flash Builder 4.6 and starting coding. However, it may be that there has been a conflict between the EB 2.0 and EB 2.1 plugins. If you can I would recommend uninstall Flash Builder 4.6 and then installing Extension Builder 2.1 (please backup your FB 4.6 installation first).
    3. First, I'd like to clarify that Extension Builder 3.0 and Flash Builder 4.7 are not compatible (by design). For Extension Builder 3 you only need Eclipse, not Flash Builder, because it only supports making HTML5 panels, not Flash. I would recommend building the panel in Extension Builder 3. However, if you are just looking to migrate an existing panel which has a lot of ActionScript code to Premiere Pro CC, you can use Extension Builder 2.1 with Flash Builder 4.6.

  • CS SDK/CS Extension Builder

    Fellow Scripters,
Ten years ago, I started this forum to write about InDesign scripting. These days, the forum pretty much runs itself, thanks to an incredible group of scripters who donate their time to answering questions and posting their discoveries.
Long-time forum denizens have probably noticed that I haven't been around much in the last year or so--it's because I've been working on something new: the cross-application Creative Suite SDK and Creative Suite Extension Builder. These tools provide a bridge between the world of Flash, Flex, and ActionScript and the scripting DOMs available in the CS applications. Extensions built using the CS SDK run as CSXS panels inside Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. These panels are mini-AIR applications, look like any other panel in the user interface. They can contain any controls that you can build with Flash and Flex.
I don't think of the CS SDK/CS Extension Builder as replacements for our existing scripting languages and UI building capabilities--I think of them as a way of extending those capabilities. If you need to build an InDesign panel, they're definitely the way to go. If you're curious, you can find more information at:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite/sdk
I've got a blog post up about creating a (fairly) complete InDesign panel at:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/cssdk/2010/08/makesideheads-a-complete-indesign-cs5-panel-2.html
Hope at least some of you find this useful, and keep on scripting!:-)
    Thanks,
    Ole

    Yes, already found solution myself.
Added clode property to Flex app window, and called event removing.
    controller.detach();
    Thanks for help Harbs.

  • Extension Builder 3 Custom Panels code snippets ?

    Hello there!
I used to make custom Photoshop panels with Adobe Configurator 4 but since the last CC2014 updates
the support for flash based panels stopped.
Now i'm trying to make HTML5 based panels with Extension Builder 3 but it's very difficult to get something
usefull as a non-programmer. I did manage to get Photoshop CC2014 to see the panels by modifying some paths and
version information in Eclipse as described on the Adobe Labs pages but that's it. The only code examples I can find are
button's which can show a message box...
My question is, are there any lists or code snippets to access the tool buttons, menu items etc. to put into the code so I can
"drag and drop" (copy and paste) things into my custom panel ?
I can't find any information on how to access these UI elements.
I hope somebody can help me with this, any help will be appreciated!
    With best regards,
    Roland

  • Extension Builder 3 and AS3/Flex

Just a short question, to be sure:
Extension Builder 3 will NOT support AS3/Flex but only "HTML5 Techniques"? In other words: Everything we/paid subcontractors have build can be thrown in to the trash an be build again to work with Creative Suite CC?

Bingo! :-) Adobe knows how to piss of 3rd party developers.
But it's actually not that simple. You can't just convert everything to HTML 5 and be "happy". If you want to support older creative suite versions (CS6 / CS5) you additionally have to build it in AS3 / FLEX since they don't support the new HTML 5 technology.
Double strike, pain in the *** for all of us, at least for the next 2 years until everybody converted to the new CC philosophy.

  • CS Extension Builder

Is the CS Extension Builder included with creative cloud and if so where does one get it from?

The difference in the two links is what they do and how they were made and not how they look .
If you test your's then you'll see you get a page error as the link is to http:///
I guess this is because you probably type the link in and then clicked on the link  button and then insert.
In this example I clicked on the attached screen shot picture and then on the link button and then on insert so by clicking on the picture it will send to the same "link" that you did.
To make a link properly there are 2 simple ways.
    1) Type in the link possibly followed by space or enter and DON'T click on the link button. take this as an example http://forums.adobe.com/message/4995398#4995398 (no link button clicked)
    2) Type on some creative words like Click Here (Try this one it's quite cute) then click on the link button then ENTER THE ADDRESS and then click on insert.
Regarding the question of whether or not the extension builder is included I guess that's resolved .

  • How to show UI created using  CS Extension Builder into our menu.

    hi,
I have created a UI that includes a text box and a button using "CS Extension Builder"  and running as  AI- CS5.
I am getting this into window-> Extension.
But I want appear this into my menu.
so I  just want to know how can I do this? Does any API support this ?
    thanks

    Hi,
You could try taking a look at the sample extensions that come with Extension Builder - you can go to File > Import... > Adobe Creative Suite Extension Builder > Remote Creative Suite SDK Samples to get them.
CSXS Extensions can do a lot more than just act as UI for native plug-ins, they can also hook into the applications' scripting DOMs, and do anything else that an Air app can do. Extension Builder is primarily designed to let you create fully fledged standalone flash panels, so when you create a new extension it may well include stuff that you, as a native plug-in developer who only wants to use Extension builder to create a simple front end, might not want.
For the .as files - when I'm writing extensions (or any flash/air app) I prefer to write as much of my code as possible in ActionScript (so the .as files) and as little as possible in MXML. I think the sample extensions that come with the Illustrator SDK are so simple that they only contain one MXML file with ActionScript embedded in script tags. Either approach is fine, one is a little cleaner and allows you to structure your code in a nicer way, the other is simpler, you can use either approach.
Note that when you create a new extension Extension Builder generates boiler plate code for you (including the .as file you talked about). Feel free to delete that if you don't want it. It is only there as a guide, some basic code to start with, not something that you have to keep. You can structure your code however you like, you just need a .swf at the end of the day (well, and the manifest file discussed above). You can also remove the actionscript libraries if you aren't using them (e.g. the Illustrator CSAW library) by right clicking the project and going to Properties > CS Extension Builder Libraries. These libraries are for interacting with the Illustrator scripting DOM (there are InDesign, Photoshop, Bridge, ... equivalents too), and you probably don't need that here.
Let me know if you have any more questions,
    Louis

  • Extension Builder doesn't update errors

    Hi,
I have a couple of questions regarding CS Extension Builder:
    1) When I correct code errors, the red icon at the beginning of the line doesn't disappear when saving the project. A Run/Debug is needed, for EB to refresh the error list - is that normal?
    2) Flash Builder 4 that's available for download in the partner portal: is it the premium or standard version? I thought it was the Premium, but it's Standard.
Thanks in advance for the answers,
    Davide

Regarding my second question, the answer (thanks to Laurel Hahn Zimmer) is here:

  • CS Extension Builder availability

    Hello,
I'd like you to confirm that a single freelance developer, in order to get the Extension Builder plug-in (for, afaik, it's a Flash Builder plugin, isn't it?) must buy at least an Adobe Enterprise Developer Program ($ 1.495), since the Adobe Solutions Partner Program (a cheaper $ 495 one) is for much more structured companies.
This in addition to Flash Builder 4, ça va sans dire.
    Thanks in advance,
    Davide Barranca

    Hi Davide,
While the Adobe Solutions Partner Program has particular qualification criteria, it would be worth your while discussing your opportunities and plans with Roger Risdal ([email protected]). Roger is a Partner Product Manager here at Adobe, he is a great contact in terms of making and maintaining the connection between partners and Adobe. He would be able to provide more context and advice around eligibility for the Solution Partner Program.
I'd like to be clear that Flash Builder (Premium) is a benefit of both programs.
Our intent here is to surface developer requirements directly within Adobe - we believe the program memberships currently provide the best vehicle for this.
Thanks for this feedback, we are continually looking to make improvements to strengthen the connection between Adobe and third party developers. If you have any particular concerns/requirements/thoughts, we'd be very keen to hear them. Either respond here, or if you prefer you can contact me directly at [email protected]
    Thanks
    Adrian

  • CS Extension Builder v1.5 - How to purchase?

    Hi,
I realize that this question is slightly off-topic, but after evaluating the CS Extension Builder v1.5 trial, I'd like to know how much it costs and how to purchase it. Oddly enough, I couldn't seem to find that info anywhere on the Adobe site.
Could some kind soul please point me to the URL with that info?
    TIA,
    mlavie

    Hi mlavie,
I am glad to hear that you have evaluated CSExtension Builder and thinking to purchase it. There are two ways to do this.
The one is what Davide suggested above. You need to subscribe to the Adobe Enterprise Devloper Program at this link: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/aedp.html
The other option would be to purchase it once it becomes available on the Adobe Store. Until then, you are free to use the fully functional trial version. Check out the Trial FAQ here: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/developer/creativesuite/extension-builder/cs-extension- builder-trial-faq.pdf

  • Photoshop cc 2014 with Extension Builder 3 not working properly.

I can't get even the most basic panel to work in CC 2014. I have created a Default Extension Builder project in eclipse. I then follow this instructions Adobe Extension Builder and Creative Cloud 2014, but when I try to debug it, it doesn't work. The panel shows up (with nothing in it) but says "Cannot complete command because the extension could not be loaded."
I have created an extension for CC, then changing everything according to the link above, tried to start it in CC 2014 I get the same error, even though it worked in CC.
Does anyone know how I can fix this problem or what is causing it?
If not, could anyone provide me with an empty panel project made in Extension Builder that works for you, so that I can maybe figure out what the differences are.
    Regards,
    Mattias

I think so, yo, only add the PlayerDebugMode like this right?
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
      <key>SmsManifestBaseURL</key>
      <string>http://serviceupdates.adobe.com/CEP4/SmsManifest.xml</string>
      <key>SmsUpdateCheckInterval</key>
      <string>7200</string>
      <key>LogLevel</key>
      <string>1</string>
      <key>PlayerDebugMode</key>
      <string>1</string>
    </dict>
    </plist>
    In this file /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.CSXS.5.plist
As you can see I am on a mac.
    Thanks for the help,
    Mattias

  • Having a problem with Flash Builder and Extension Builder - images not apearing on Mac system

Have a panel created in Flash Builder 4.5 with Extension Builder 2.1. Everything is fine when installed on a PC but when installed on a Mac the images in the panel do not show.
Mac and PC both using Adobe Photoshop CC . Both installed from same .ZXP file using Adobe Extension Manager CC.
    Any ideas?

No I used relative path - the path is  images/image name
    example images/cRight.png
tried downloading Extension Builder 2.1 and compiling on Mac but still have same results - images show up fine in design window , but not when running panel in Photoshop
    Created a new project: testImage
added an image component to form
answered yes to add asset to project
    ran project
image did not show up in Photoshop
    went back to project
checked item Embed under Common image properties
ran project and image shows up
Looks like it works if I add @Embed("assets/image name") on Mac to display images
    tried in my real project:
Looks like it works if I add @Embed("images/image name") on Mac to display images
When I change this on PC to @Embed("images/image name") images do not show Up
Don't know if I need to create two versions one for Mac one for PC
Don't know how this would affect product on Adobe Exchange
