Extension Manager CC won't launch

Hi,
I download the Extension Manager CC to my PC desktop. When I try launching it both by either clicking on the icon for the app, or through the Adobe Exchange window in PSD CC, I get a message that says "Failed to initialize Extension Manager".
When I click on 'OK' the app closes.
I downloaded the app 3 times and still getting the same message. Before each additional download, I uninstalled the app from my PC.
Thanks for your help,
Mike

Hi mc051,
Do you use Active Directory? This is a known issue for user use Active Directory in a Domain, we will fix it in the coming update.
If NOT, please send Extension Manager log file to us, you can get logs by following steps:

2. Relaunch Extension Manager CC again;
3. You can find ExManCoreLibrary.log under "C:\Users\<user-name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Extension Manager CC\Log"
Mac:
1. Generate "ExManCoreLibLog.YES" under "Users/<user-name>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CC/Log"
2. Relaunch Extension Manager CC again;
3. You can find ExManCoreLibrary.log under "Users/<user-name>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CC/Log"

I have the same problem. Questions:
    1. Did you find in the meantime a solution?
    No solution yet ...
I made some tests with desactivation my InpuManagers, same thing ...
    2. Did you accomplish an update of leopard on SnowLeopard?
Yes Snow Leopard came on an Leopard installation.
On my new MacBook Pro the manager runs problem-free!
Yes, should be a damn old thing in the /Library/Adobe (there is really
lots of things in here) or something like that, but I don't want to break
    more things ...

  • Q: Extension Manager hangs up during launch.

    1. If you can see Extension Manager window, try to kill it and launch it again as administrator.
    2. If it does not help, kill Extension Manager.
    3. Rename all XManConfig.xml files of CS products to other names. Generally, XManConfig.xml is in "Configuration" folder of product installation path. For example, for InDesign CS5.5, XManConfig.xml can be found in the folder below.
        Windows: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS5.5\Configuration\"
        Mac: "/Applications/Adobe InDesign CS5.5/Configuration/"
    4. Launch Extension Manager again.
    5. If Extension Manager launches successfully, rename one XManConfig.xml back and launch Extension Manager again. If Extension Manager still works, rename back another XManConfig.xml and launch Extension Manager. Again and again, then you can know which product causes this issue.
    6. Generate log files and attach them here.

Don't see any PPC plug-ins for QT. Opened package contents for QT and looked under plug-ins. I have also repaired permissions on the hard drive where imovie 08 is installed and then restarted, but this did not help either. When I first tried to launch 08 after it was first installed it started some type of process to convert existing videos but then froze up. Now it just hangs up as soon as I attempt to launch it and force quit states the program is not responding.

  • Management Console won't launch

Using ESM 3.5 on Windows server 2003 standard. Database is on another
    server on the lan.
When I launch the managment console I get:
"The Logon Message Management Console could not log you on. Make sure
your username and configuration are correct, then type your password
    again"
The problem is that I've not typed my username or password, this just
    comes up immediately!
I previously had configured and tested an Active Directory ldap
connection. I have yet to see the managment console. Is there some way
to clear the config and start over?

ESM is a fresh install. The server is in production, but ESM is not in
production. ESM Management Console appeared to install correctly to the
end. Upon execution it presented me with a dialog to setup connection to
a directory. I set up a connection to our active directory and tested
using the "test" button and the test passed. I launch the Management
Console again and got the message above. I restarted the server and
attempted to launch Management Console again, and still received the
    message above.
I'm wondering if there is a registry entry, text file, or SQL database
record that holds the ldap and authentication configuration or userid
password cache. And, if so, could that information be clear so as to re-
enter the configuration thru the GUI.
I have no idea what userid and password Management Console is attempting
to use, as I've not been prompted to login at any time, other than the
userid and password I specified when setting up the ldap connection to
Active Directory on the first launch of Management Console.
What did you reinstall? All of ESM or just the Management Console?
    thanks.
You can run the managementserverinstaller.exe from c:\program files\novell\esm single server\authenticationserver\bin. This will clear the databases and allow you to re-enter everything in the Management Server's configuration. After running the managementserverinstaller.exe double click your esm managment console icon on the desktop and it should allow you to redo the configuration. What version are you using?

  • ITunes won't launch, is running according to Task Manager, iTunes won't launch, is running according to Task Manager

I closed iTunes yesterday. SInce then, I have not been able to open it back up.
Task Manager says it's running, and opening it prompts a "allow permissions" pop-up. Then nothing happens.
I've heard people suggest I end a "daemon" process, but it's not running. I have also uninstalled itunes and re-installed. Nothing.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi again,
Helps if I give the correct link ! <br/>The press shift button appears to still work, but the option to start in safe mode from the programs listing of a standard install I do not think exists anymore.
Safe mode will start from a command line, (or a shortcut) and in some circumstances you may need to enter the full path name on a command or shortcut detailed instructions are at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
Remember (at least at this stage) do not make changes when you get the options list, just click on the continue button.
If you think that RealPlayer is causing the problem you could uninstall that for now.
Firefox recent versions are 3.6 4.0 (and 5.0 in beta). There is some debate as to whether creating new profiles or re-installing Firefox is the simplest method of troubleshooting and solving some of these problems, personally I use multiple profiles and multiple versions of Firefox, and tend to forget the required procedures are less than straightforward. For now at least try [[safe mode]] again.

  • Manage widgets won't launch so I can't delete widgets

Everything fine until I downloaded some new widgets today. Guess one is messing it up.
Is there a way to manually uninstall widgets until I find the offending widget or could it be something else?
    Thanks for any help
    Tel.

You can find widgets you've downloaded and installed in your home folder's Library/Widgets folder. Simply move the widgets you want to delete to the Trash, and then relogin (or restart) so that the offending widget is no longer loaded.

  • Extension Manager CS5 will not open in Windows XP

I have been trying to install any extension in the EM CS5 and it will not open. I have removed it and re-installed several times with no luck. Is there an update or something I need to do to make this work? It will not run through Dreamweaver as well.
    Thanks,

    1. If "C:\Documents and Settings\<YourUserName>\Application Data\Adobe\Extension Manager CS5\Configuration\Extensions\exman_uiPreferences.mxl" exists, delete this file.
    2. Each CS product which Extension Manager supports has a file named XManConfig.xml. If Extension Manager can not find this file from a CS product, Extension Manager will not integrate this product. So in order to determine the cause, you can rename XManConfig.xml for all CS products temporarily (You can find this file under installation directory or its configuration sub-directory of each CS product), as a result, Extension Manager will not integrate any product.
    3. Try to launch Extension Manager, if it can be launched successfully, then rename XManConfig.xml back one by one and launch Extension Manager again after each rename. If Extension Manager can not launched after you rename XManConfig.xml back for a certain product, then the problem is relevant to this product, please generate log files to assist troubleshooting. You can read other threads in this forum to learn how to generate log files. Of course, if you don't need Extension Manager to manage extensions for a specific product, you don't need restore name of XManConfig.xml for that product.
    4. If Extension Manager can not be launched even if no any product is integrated, also please generate log files.

  • Get Adobe Extension Manager app path from registry

    Hi!
I have been looking to develop an installer that installs my extension through Inno Setup. I want to launch the Adobe Extension Manager as a post install process in the [Run] section of the Inno Setup install process. Now, there can be multiple versions of Extension Manager installed on a machine, the latest version of Extension Manager is launched by default. I want to make sure that the product version chosen by the user during installation launches the corresponding Extension Manager. Eg., if a machine has Photoshop CS5, CS6 installed, and the user chooses Photoshop CS5, then the Extension Manager CS5 should be launched. For this, I want the path to the application. I am unable to get the Extension Manager path from the registry. Please help me with this.
I am aiming to use this installer on Win XP, 7, Vista (32/64 bit).
    Its urgent...
    Thanks!

    Hi Carl,
I had looked at the link you posted earlier too.. I see that you had posetd the answer then too! So, I can post my queries to you directly!
I created a jsx file named "Result.jsx", which I saved in my D drive, with the following code,
    resultFile = new File("D:/result.log");
    resultFile.open("w");
    resultFile.write(BridgeTalk.__diagnostics__);
    resultFile.close();
If I run this directly from ESTK, there is no problem, and I get the result.log file. I tried to execute this script via command line as shown in the screenshot,
On executing the above, I got the following error,
What am I doing wrong? I need to do this urgently. Please suggest a solution..
    Thanks!

  • Adobe Extension Manager CS5.5 won't launch

    Hi,
As the title states the program will not launch, I have not used it since upgrading to OSX Yosemite, however I did have to reinstall CS5.5 suite after it ceased working after the update. I also installed extension manager separately today to see if it resolved the issue, it did not.
With the program crashing on launch, i did some research and attempted to work around it by installing the extension I had found via terminal, it started but also crashed before completion.

    Best,

That works for the one of my recent downloads, thanks. Going to test the rest now, but will mark the above as correct since it worked!
To clarify for anyone who pops in:
    1. Copy file
    2. Rename to "filename.zip"
    3. Unzip
    4. Find the relevant .jsx (script) file. (in my case there was a manual folder)
I just used browse to test, but going to move the file to the relevant folder now.

  • I can't install Pixel Bender because the Extensions Manager won't open.

HI1  I can't install Pixel vender because the Extensions manger won't open.  I get the message that it has "unexpectedly quit" and then I'm supposed to send a report to Apple.  Of course, nothing comes of that.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks for your help.
    Best,
    Endre

    Dear Endre,
Please back up all files in the folder /Library/InputManagers and remove those files, and then try to launch Extension Manager. It may solve the issue.
You can also to try the following method:
Remove all old Extension Manager preference and application support files.
To delete the application support files for Extension Manager CS5, please navigate to folder '/Users/<current user>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CS5', then back up all files in the folder, and then delete all files and sub directories in the folder.
To delete the preference file for Extension Manager CS5, please navigate to folder '/Users/<current user>/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Extension Manager CS5', then back up all files in the folder, and then delete all files and sub directories in the folder.
If neither above way works, please use the below method to gather crash log and I will check those crash log. Thanks.
As you mentioned, when Extension Manager crashes, there would be a dialog to ask for sending report to Apple. In that dialog, you can view the crash log by clicking report button. Then you can copy the crash log and paste it into the forum.
    Best wishes,
    chengyon

  • Extension Manager won't See My products?

    Hello,
I am running windows 7 64bit and have the CS5 Master suite. Due to low disk space I installed the suite on an external drive which the computer saw as (I) Later I installed a Card reader and it changed all my drive letters, so now the hard drive is seen as (L). For awhile a was able to use Photoshop or any of the programs until I figured out how to change the path in properties to go to the (L) Drive instead of looking for a non existant (I).
Now I can open the products, but the Extension manager won't see them at all and when I try to install a new purchase or download I get this: http://prntscr.com/spmmq and this is the version I am using http://prntscr.com/spn0a, I do have CS6 as well, but it crashes 2-3 times a day from random things and I have a lot of stuff my photoshop has to load, so it takes almost 1.5 hours to get back up after a crash.. grrr!!!
I tried downloading CS5 Extension manager to reinstall it, but when I did that it was forcing the installation the the non existant drive (I) I couldn't change the path and when I went to unistall the Extension Manager, there was no option for it to be removed??
So the question is... is there a way to have my extension manager find the products on the (L) drive???
    Thank you for any help,
    J

using the Microsoft BlueTooth driver is a requirement for Desktop Manager, not an issue. Please read task 2 of the following article from the public knowledge base:

  • Extension manager & Dreamweaver run when I launch HP's help services

The problem began when I loaded an After Effects preset, "Pie Chart" (downloaded from Adobe site)...
Now, when I click certain links in the Windows 7 Help system (as modified by HP), both Extension Manager and Dreamweaver open, and Dreamweaver generates the message, "The Extension Manager will now launch and finish updating Dreamweaver.  OK?"   Well, it's not okay, but my only choice is to click the OK button, which runs Extension Manager.  Then I exit both Dreamweaver and Extension Manager, which successfully closes both programs.  Then they re-launch a second time with the same message.  Again I close them both and this brings me to the help service I wanted in the first place.  Dreamweaver and Extension Manager always load twice.
I looked at the html code for the modified help screen, and the link in the help system runs a .JSE file. Windows shows the JSE file as a "JScript Encoded Script file" that is associated with Microsoft Windows Based Script Host.  I notice that there's a similar file extension, .JS, which is a "JScript Script file" (note: not encoded) and the .JS file is associated with Dreamweaver.
So... what's going on here?  Is this a problem with Extension Manager, DreamWeaver, After Effects, the Help system, registry or something else?  And how do I fix it?
    Details:  64-bit Windows 7 home version on a Hewlett-Packard HPE-500f.  Adobe Master Collection 5.0.

  • I deleted my extensions manager and now my Mac won't start up. Please Help!!

I have an IMac, 24" model, running OS X. For the past several days, little warning windows have been popping up with this annoying beep, telling me that my computer was infected with various viruses. 4, to be exact. Also, while on the internet, random pop-up windows have appeared, so I thought I did have a virus. So, to correct the matter (or attempt to), I deleted my preferences folder from the system folder, as well as the extensions manager.
Now, the computer won't start up past the white logo screen with the turning gear thingy. I've tried resetting the PRAM, and starting in safe mode, and safe mode with the progress screen, and even something there while holding the option key (that one gave me an icon of my HD, but clicking on it took me back to an endless wait on the white screen). I've tried starting from the disk that came with the computer (I held the C key) but not only doesn't the computer start from the disk, it spits the disk out. I don't understand. The computer was fine until I deleted the ext. mgr and preferences, so it can't be that the computer went bad or something.
I don't know what else to do here. I do have an extended service warranty with Best Buy, but I wanted to see if there was some way to fix this before hauling this thing off to the store. Any suggestions? I'm desperate here, because anything and everything I've tried (based on all the try-this and try-thats I found on the internet), nothing has worked.
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance.

Well done! You've succeeded in turning your Mac into a useless brick.
Deleting the System/Library/extensions folder and the associated manager removed most of the functionality from your OS.
And all to get rid of what sounds like the MacDefender trojan or a variant.
    ref; http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4650 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4651
You may have a slim chance of recovering if it will still boot in Target Disc Mode; in which case you can use another Mac to install the system remotely.
And I doubt your warranty with Best Buy is going to cover user "error."
