Extension Manager (CS4 & CS5) shows wrong language

What more can I say? I discovered this problem running the CS4 Master Suite but fumbled through the dialog box and got the install of PixelBender to work. Now that I'm back with CS5 I'm still having the same problem. No language problems anywhere else but in Extension Manager. I'm using a Mac Pro, Snow Leopard, and the CS5 Design Premium Suite. The incorrect language appears to be German, though I don't speak or write German, so I'm not certain. Screen shot below. Thanks!

Thanks adaceyphoto to report this issue and provide another workaround. So far we haven't reproduce this problem in our environment, in order to help us catch it and do further analysis, could you please help to reproduce it in your Mac again and send us the log messages?
First, you need to restore the deleted languages again, and don't forget Danish.
Here are the steps to generate log messages:
1. Go to the installation folder of your Extension Manager, right click "Adobe Extension Manager.app", and select "Show Package Contents".
2. In the new Finder windows, select "Contents" --> "MacOS". In the MacOS folder, create a file named "ExManLog.YES", please make sure the created file has extensions ".YES". (You can right click on that file and select GetInfo to check the Name&Extension).
3. Launch Extension Manager, try to reproduce the language problems.
4. Close Extension Manager, open folder "/Users/$YOURNAME/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CS5/", there should be some files with ".log" format. These are the log files generated by Extension Manager.
5. Delete the ExManLog.YES file which is created in step 2, otherwise it will slow down your Extension Manager to generate log files.
It seems not able to attach files here, so please send the packaged log files to my email address. You can find my email address from your private message box.
Thanks.

  • How to correctly uninstall Adobe Extension Manager CS4 (Mac)

I would like to uninstall Adobe Extension Manager CS4 from my Mac, but so far I haven't been able to find any answers on how to do this properly (or at all.)  I've  successfully uninstalled all CS4, CS5 and CS6 applications; I also ran the Adobe CS4 Clean Script, to no avail.
I am trying to reclaim space (I only use Creative Cloud) and reduce clutter on my system.
I would appreciate any help/suggestions on this matter.

  • Extension Manager CS4 not installing extensions in Dreamweaver CS4

Just installed CS4 Design Premium. Now i want to install some
    extensions to Dreamweaver.
When I click on the extension to install it I get a message
    from the Extension Manager saying:
"This extension can not be installed, it products requires
Dreamweaver 6 or greater. To install this extension, please try to
install Dreamweaver CS4 or use Extension Manager CS3 which works
with Adobe CS3 and earlier products."
I have even tried to install it by opening the Extension
    Manager from Dreamweaver via the
Commands menu, with the same results.
    - I have version 2.0.274 of Adobe Extension Manager CS4.
    - I do not see the Dreamweaver icon in Extension Manager's
    product list*
    - I tried to reinstall Dreamweaver
    (which also reinstalled Extension Manager)
    - Easy to forget; I am on a Mac
    - The extensions should be okay, as they install quite nice
    in Dreamweaver CS3
I tried to look for a
plist to edit, but as I do not really know what to look for
    this action failed.
*in the same order i find the icons of Flash CS4, Fireworks
    CS4, Photoshop CS4, Indesign CS4, Illustrator CS4 and Bridge CS4 in
    the products list.

What extensions are you trying to install?

  • Extension Manager CS4 invalid token in xmanconfig.xml

    Hi,
When I try to start Extension Manager CS4 2.1 I get an error saying that there is an invalid tokenvalue in XManConfig.xml (see attached screenshot, it's in Dutch ).
The version of Extension Manager is 2.1.112.
Extension Manager is used in a network environment where Application Data is redirected to a share Appdata$ on a file server in the network. Folder redirection also is used for the Desktop and My Documents folders. They are redirected to a share called Homedir$ on a file server in the network.
The cause of this problem is the $-sign in the share name. When I rename the share to something without a $-sign all works fine. So a solution for this problem would be to rename all the shares to something without a $-sign, but that is quite a big network change for just one small application. All other applications (including CS4 applications) don't have any problems with the $-sign and redirected folders. Thereby de shares will not be hidden anymore if we rename the shares, and we want to keep the shares hidden.
Will there be a solution for this problem in an new version of Extension Manager? Is there a patch available which resolves this problem?
I also have tried to modify the xmanconfig.xml file so extensions are stored on the local hard disk of the PC and got Extension Manager working and even could install extensions. But extensions did not become available in the CS4 applications, because the CS4 applications still look in the redirected Application Data for the configuration files and extensions of the CS4 application. But the application does not find anything there because the extensions are stored elsewhere. Is there a way to tell the CS4 applications to store and look for application data on the local hard disk of the PC?

I'm seeing exactly the same problem, along with Soundbooth crashing on startup. It's a problem with the two applications not being able to handle folder redirection properly. If you're able to, use a local AppData folder or a properly mapped drive with no variables. These seemed to cure the problem for us. Unfortunately, we aren't able to do this in live.

  • Extension manager CS4 permissions error

I am trying to install a script (.mxp) (Windows). When I double click the .mxp file the Adobe Extensions Manager CS4 opens but I get a permissions error. "You do not have appropriate permissions.." I am the administrator and I have made sure the file has full permissions. I have tried to move the file to different locations also but no luck. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Try running the Extensions Manager program using a right-click then "run as administrator"; secondly, select the script to run from file|install extension. This worked for me in similar circumstances.
Just clicking on the extension script doesn't seem to work too well. Well, not in Vista 32bit anyway.
    Anthony.

  • RE-installing Extension Manager in CS5

Something has happened to my Extension Manager in CS5 (which I downloaded from Adobe) and I need to re-install.
I can't find anywhere info on how to make this happen.

    Thanks.

You should be able to download and install the Extension manager from http://www.adobe.com/exchange/em_download/.

  • Q: Extension Manager showed wrong language when it was launched.

If Extension Manager is launched from Create Suite products' menu, it will use the locale of the product. If Extension Manger is launched in standalone mode( launching it from start menu or by double clicking or command line ), it will use the locale of the operating system. If you do want to run it in another language, you can add "-locale lang=" parameters. For example, on windows, you can run the command below to show French.
    "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Extension Manager CS\Adobe Extension Manager CS.exe" -locale lang="fr_FR".

  • How to Package Photoshop Extension for cs4/cs5 with manifest.xml

    Hello,
tl;dr: How can I package my extension for both cs4 and cs5 in a way that respects the extension's window geometry?
I have a panel that specifies window geometry in it's manifest.xml. When the panel is installed into Photoshop's panels/ folder, the geometry gets ignored, so I'm trying to package the panel as an extension to be installed via the Extension Manager. I have run into different problems for each CS version. I've read quite a few pdfs about the Extension Manager, UCF command line packaging, etc, and have not been able to find a solution that works for both platforms.
    My understaning
My trial and error research has lead me to understand that the extension's files must eventually end up in the (mac) /Library/Application Support/Adobe/<CSversion>ServiceManager/extensions/ directory. In CS5, if the extension's folder contains a manifest.xml file (ex: /extensions/GuideGuide/CSXS/manifest.xml) that specifies window geometry, Photoshop will respect that window geometry when the panel opens. However, in CS4, this is not enough. From my tests, Photoshop CS4 doesn't seem to do anything with the manifest.xml file. Instead, I had to modify /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS4ServiceManager/ServiceManifest.xml and add my extension to it's contents. Once I did this, Photoshop CS4 launches my panel and respects it's window geometry.
The problem with this is that it's a manual installation. I can't ask my users to dig around in their system files to install my panel. In addition, since it's unsigned using this method, it won't work if they're not flagged for debugging. I've started exploring using the Extension Manager, but I have run into problems that I cannot find ansers in the few pdfs about packaging that I've been able to find.
    CS5 Problems
If I use the UCF command line tool, I can package and sign my file. It installs fine and does what I want. However, using this method, I haven't been able to find a way to specify the author and description that shows up in the Extension Manager.
    CS4 Problems
The UCF command line tool doesn't appear to make packages that can be installed by CS4, and I haven't been able to find one that is compatable. I've had to result to using the Extension Manager to package my extension based on a .mxi file. The problem I have here is that installing files this way limits me to putting them in the /panels directory, which then causes the panel to ignore the indow geometry. Is there a way with an .mxi file to install in the /Library/Application Support/Adobe/<CSversion>ServiceManager/extensions/ directory and modify the /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS4ServiceManager/ServiceManifest.xml file?
There must be, because Kuler and other extensions are installed there.
Thank you SO much for any help you might provide. I've spent weeks trying to get this to work and have run into nothing but dead ends and wild goose chases.

Your extension is a CSXS extension. For CSXS extension it's introduced in Extension Manager 2.1. (You can download Extension manager 2.1 from http://www.adobe.com/exchange/em_download/em20_download.html)
In Extension Manager CS2.1 only MXP package is supported. In Extension Manager CS5 CSXS extension must be packaged by ZXP format. So you have to generate two packages for CS4(mxp) and CS5(zxp)
For CS5, you can use ucf.jar to generate the zxp package.
For CS4, you have to create an MXI file and package it by Extension Manager 2.1 to mxp package. Here is a sample CSXS mxi file:
    <macromedia-extension
               name="CSXS_TEST_EXTENSION"
               version="1.0.0"

  • Extension Manager Crashes CS5 OSX 10.5.8

    Hi
I need to load the Optional Plug Ins for Photoshop CS5 so Photoshop can use TWAIN to import images from my scanner. I've done it on another iMac but need to do it on this one. I have downloaded the files from the Adobe site and the Extension Manager crashes soon after opening it. I saw another thread that mentioned "From the crash stack product “smart crash report” 1.5b3 is installed. However, it should not be compatible with Snow Leopard, refer to the offical statementhttp://www.unsanity.com/haxies/smartcrashreports."
I don't have a "smart crash report" (maybe Santa will give me one for Christmas?  )
I have tried running it from a clean user but same problem. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Extensions Manager CC will not update - (Language files missing)

Ok I have been round and round with this issue.  Clearly the error is stating I am missing or have deleted language files, so... I reinstalled Mavericks...No luck same error, then (just for fun) I installed Yosemite...same error, and back to square one.  Any ideas on which languages are "required" for the Extensions manager CC update to actually work?  I can go into system prefs and install it, but since I have access to a large number of system bloating languages it would be great to know the requirements before I create an overweight OS.
    Thanks!
    Bob

  • Extensions manager CC not showing any products or working properly

    CC 2014, Extensions Manager CC
Shows that it is installed on the desktop app and launches...but does not recognize any products. If I attempt to launch from Premiere Pro, I get an error saying its not installed on the machine, but it is. I have uninstalled, reinstalled...and I have also used CC cleaner.
    Any help?

Please refer to Re: Why can't I see InDesign CC in my Extension Manager CC.

  • Extension Manager CS4

    Hi...
Have just installed the trial version of DW and EM CS4.
    Opening EM, gets a
window that asks me if i want to migrate my extensions from
    CS3. I presume
that a 'Yes' will not remove them from CS3? Or will it? It's
    the use of
'migrate' that has confused me. Because typically, migrate
    means a physical
    relocation, a move...
    TIA,
    JJ

What David said. But if you want to be careful, our
    recommended course is to
say no to the migration and then to install your extensions
    manually from
    the original installation files.
