Extension manager & Dreamweaver run when I launch HP's help services
The problem began when I loaded an After Effects preset, "Pie Chart" (downloaded from Adobe site)...
Now, when I click certain links in the Windows 7 Help system (as modified by HP), both Extension Manager and Dreamweaver open, and Dreamweaver generates the message, "The Extension Manager will now launch and finish updating Dreamweaver. OK?" Well, it's not okay, but my only choice is to click the OK button, which runs Extension Manager. Then I exit both Dreamweaver and Extension Manager, which successfully closes both programs. Then they re-launch a second time with the same message. Again I close them both and this brings me to the help service I wanted in the first place. Dreamweaver and Extension Manager always load twice.
I looked at the html code for the modified help screen, and the link in the help system runs a .JSE file. Windows shows the JSE file as a "JScript Encoded Script file" that is associated with Microsoft Windows Based Script Host. I notice that there's a similar file extension, .JS, which is a "JScript Script file" (note: not encoded) and the .JS file is associated with Dreamweaver.
So... what's going on here? Is this a problem with Extension Manager, DreamWeaver, After Effects, the Help system, registry or something else? And how do I fix it?
Details: 64-bit Windows 7 home version on a Hewlett-Packard HPE-500f. Adobe Master Collection 5.0.
Thanks all!

I submitted https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/37899 although you seem to have much more issues.

Extension Manager CS6 freezes when loading extensions
Extension Manager CS6 freezes when loading extensions
When launching Extension Manager CS6 it starts loading extensions but totally freezes when the last 30 percent of the loading extension bar is still unaccomplished. It is not possible to close the window, not even with the task manager. I have restart the computer to get rid of it.
My OS is Windows 7, 64 bit. The most recent versions of the entire Adobe CS family are installed, freshly updated, including the Extension Manager CS6.
To trace the cause of the problem I tried to create a log file in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Extension Manager CS6. I logged in as administrator and wrote in the Command Prompt Window:
echo > ExManLog.YES
The log file was created but contains nothing but "ECHO is on".
A possible cause of the problem might be that I have two installed active version of Ajatix Advanced CSS Drop Down Menu, which is an add-on to Dreamweaver. The first version is the free one, the second is the full paid version. I would like to deactivate the first one since which might make the Extension Manager happier. But the only way to deactivate it that I know of is to use the Extension Manager. Catch 22.Dear Carl, thanks for the advice that made me understand how to remove an extension without using the Extension Manager. However, the problem persists, i.e the Extension Manager freezes soon after it is launched, when the last 30 percent of the loading extension bar is still unaccomplished.
Following your instruction I have tried to remove both my versions of the troublesome DW extension (Ajatix Advanced CSS Drop Down Menu). Which in my case meant that I deleted the following files:
the files com.ajatix.AdvancedCSSMenuLight.mxi, com.ajatix.AdvancedCSSMenuLight.mxi_air and com.ajatix.AdvancedCSSMenuLight.zxp in C:\Users\<My UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Extension Manager CS6\EM Store\Dreamweaver CS6
and the files ajxcssmenu2.3.0.mxi, ajxcssmenu2.3.0.mxi_air and ajxcssmenu2.3.0.mxp in C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Extension Manager CS6\EM Store\Dreamweaver CS6
In the hope of cleaning out everything from this extension I have also deleted the following files:
AJXCSSMenu.chm, AJXCSSMenu.dll in C:\Users\UpdatusUser\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS6\en_US\Configuration\JSExtensions
and AJXCSSMenu.chm, AJXCSSMenu.dll, AJXCSSMenuLight.chm, AJXCSSMenuLight.dll in C:\Users\ipb-master\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS6\en_US\Configuration\JSExtensions
Every time I thus get rid of the Ajitex files the Extension Manager seems happy and loads the only extension I currently have left (Adobe exchange). However when I reinstall the Ajitex extension, the Extension Manager behaves in the same bad manner, freezes after approximately 70 percent of the process of loading extensions. Same thing when I remove this extension and try to install another from Ajitex (Email Spam Blocker). It seems to install all right but afterward the Extension Manager freezes when launched.
Don't know what to do now. -
Prevent Adobe extension manager from running
Hi
does anyone know where I can turn off the Adobe Extension manager from running everytime I start Dreamweaver?
We are a school so clearing down the profiles on each machine after each logoff. Needless to say at the next log on it runs again, not something we can expect the studenst to have to do every log on! As we deployed CS5 via group policy we do not appear to have the luxury to be able to uninstall the manager seperately.
Anyone know where in the registry we can disable it from running everytime we start Dreamweaver?
Many thanks
AddidHi
The extension manager should not start with dreamweaver as it is a stand-alone application, have you checked that it is not set to start along with dreamweaver in your servers 'start-up' script for dreamweaver.
You could also submit a 'bug report' here - https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform, (ignore the 'wishform' in the link as bug reports are also on the same page). There is also a link to the Adobe support page in the linked page text should you wish to contact them.

Adobe Extension Manager CS5.5 won't launch
Hi,
As the title states the program will not launch, I have not used it since upgrading to OSX Yosemite, however I did have to reinstall CS5.5 suite after it ceased working after the update. I also installed extension manager separately today to see if it resolved the issue, it did not.
With the program crashing on launch, i did some research and attempted to work around it by installing the extension I had found via terminal, it started but also crashed before completion.

Best,
AaronThat works for the one of my recent downloads, thanks. Going to test the rest now, but will mark the above as correct since it worked!
To clarify for anyone who pops in:
1. Copy file
2. Rename to "filename.zip"
3. Unzip
4. Find the relevant .jsx (script) file. (in my case there was a manual folder)
I just used browse to test, but going to move the file to the relevant folder now. -
Extension manager is frozen when i lunched it
Hello,
First of all sorry for my english i 'am foregian
I think i do a mistack when i try do delete an extension directly in my folder and now when i lunch Extenssion manager CC in my mac i have the interface without warning error but is frozen and i have no plugin listed (i have 3 plugin normaly)
I try to install uninstal the app twice but it's steel doesn't work.
Can you help me please ?
Thanks you
Kind regards
VincentHi Yuanyuan,
Thanks for your replies, I try to navigate to this path but the folder is empty ( Even with the option to see the folders and file hidden).
This is strange no ? -
Since the installer fails to work, I have to Cancel out TWICE just to get VB6 started. Then doing certain things in VB6 will trigger the installer AGAIN.
How has it insinuated itself into my VB6 and how can I get rid of it once and for all?cqcq42,
When did this behavior start? Did you ever have NI DataSocket 4.3.0 installed on this machine? If so, did this occur after you removed it?
If I were to venture a premature guess, i'd say that there were some registry entries that weren't removed correctly on an uninstall. Have you attempted reinstalling/repairing your VB6 install to see if that gets rid of the problem?

Extension Manager CS4 not installing extensions in Dreamweaver CS4
Just installed CS4 Design Premium. Now i want to install some
extensions to Dreamweaver.
When I click on the extension to install it I get a message
from the Extension Manager saying:
"This extension can not be installed, it products requires
Dreamweaver 6 or greater. To install this extension, please try to
install Dreamweaver CS4 or use Extension Manager CS3 which works
with Adobe CS3 and earlier products."
I have even tried to install it by opening the Extension
Manager from Dreamweaver via the
Commands menu, with the same results.
- I have version 2.0.274 of Adobe Extension Manager CS4.
- I do not see the Dreamweaver icon in Extension Manager's
product list*
- I tried to reinstall Dreamweaver
(which also reinstalled Extension Manager)
- Easy to forget; I am on a Mac
- The extensions should be okay, as they install quite nice
in Dreamweaver CS3
I tried to look for a
plist to edit, but as I do not really know what to look for
this action failed.
*in the same order i find the icons of Flash CS4, Fireworks
CS4, Photoshop CS4, Indesign CS4, Illustrator CS4 and Bridge CS4 in
the products list. What extensions are you trying to install?

CS6 Adobe Extension Manager opens in Dreamweaver but then stalls
CS6 Adobe Extension Manager opens in Dreamweaver but then stalls and never opens anything, nor can I install anything.
I have removed and installed the Ext manager twice, no help at all.Hi Tr_moore,
Apologies that you have been facing this issue with Extension Manager, can you please follow below steps and let us know if that works for you.
Sorry we do not have a clean workaround for this issue, There is a slightly destructive workaround, where in all your previously installed extensions for all Adobe Products will be removed, you will need to make note of all the extensions installed for each Adobe Product and install them one at a time after you have followed the below steps.
1. Goto Below folder and Delete it completely
Win : C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Extension Manager CS6
Mac : /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CS6
2. Goto Below Folder and Delete it Completely
Win : %Appdata%\Adobe\Extension Manager CS6
Mac : ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CS6
Please notice the difference in the Mac path, there is an extra "~" for point no. 2
3. Uninstall Extension Manager CS6 with Remove Preferences.
4. Now install Extension Manager CS6
Do let us know if this helps.

Extensions Manager in Wrong Language
CS4 Web Premium
Installed about a month ago, in English. Everything was running smoothly, and in English, except....
tried to use Extension Manager today, and it's in German.
I have searched everywhere, including Adobe support. I cannot find out how it happened or how to switch the language for Extension Manager to English. Any help appreciated.I filed an issue with Adobe. Their response was to reinstall Extensions Manager from CS4 in English, since I must have installed it in German. All of the programs except Extensions Manager are in English. As always, they failed to read everything and jumped to a conclusion to get it off of their desk.
Here is what Adobe Support had to say:
I would like to give you a source of information:
Extensions are packaged for specific versions.
The Exchange site is currently an English resource, and extensions
are packaged by default for installation into English versions.
If you have installed cs4 Adobe Extension manager and Cs4 web premium separately, <--I did not
then I would recommend you to please uninstall the cs4 Adobe extension manager and run the
cs4 web premium which are already there in your setup files. <--This might be worth trying
The moment you run the application click on next and then when you will get a screen where it will ask for components on the right hand side.
Please select custom install and check the extension manager and uncheck the rest and then proceed.
Once the installation gets complete, please restart Mac and try to check whether the extension manager is displaying in English.
Please note that all the Adobe applications depend upon the serial key in terms of language versions.
I hope that the serial key which you have is for the English version. <--Yes, mine is an English version. All other CS4 installations show up in English.
Here is something additional on the problem:
It only launches in German when it is opened directly. I opened it from within Dreamweaver CS4, and there it was in English.
Since I was opening Extensions Manager on its own, it could be a product of the extension I was trying to install. I have not migrated my old extensions from CS3, so there was just one extension to load. I can only assume that the default language of the extension was German.
So, opening Extensions Manager from within the CS4 program seems to make the language set by the program installation, in this case English, work correctly. The extension attempting to be installed could be the instigator. -
Extension Manager CS5 hanging problem
Hi there,
I have this issue recently that extension manager pops up when I load Dreamweaver CS5. I've just done an update and the following message comes up:
The Extension Manager will now launch and finish updating Dreamweaver.
Extension Manager then comes up and starts Loading Extensions. However at a certain point it just freezes (see pic).
Any ideas on what I can do to fix this? I am running on Windows 7 Home Premium.
Thanks!1. Each CS product which Extension Manager supports has a file named XManConfig.xml. If Extension Manager can not find this file from a CS product, Extension Manager will not integrate this product. So in order to determine the cause, you can rename XManConfig.xml for all CS products temporarily (You can find this file under installation directory or its configuration sub-directory of each CS product), as a result, Extension Manager will not integrate any product.
2. Try to launch Extension Manager, if it can be launched successfully, then you can rename XManConfig.xml back one by one and launch Extension Manager again after each rename. If Extension Manager can not launched after you rename XManConfig.xml back for a certain product, then the problem is relevant to this product, you can generate log files to assist troubleshooting. You can read other threads in this forum to learn how to generate log files. Of course, if you don't need Extension Manager to manage extensions for a specific product, you don't need restore name of XManConfig.xml for that product. -
Adobe Extension Manager CC frozen
Hi,
I have been having some serious problems with the Adobe Extension Manager.
I while ago, I updated from Photoshop CS6 to Adobe Creative Cloud and when I saw my Photshop extensions were not installed in Photshop CC, I launched the Extension Manager CC and was trying to install them to get the extensions in Photoshop.
What happened was, the Extension Manager froze somewhere in the middle of the isntallation and wasn't doing anything for more than 8 hours when I was installing the first extension. The Extension Manager wasn't reacting at all so I had to kill it, and ever since I open it up again the Extension Manager can't load and it gets stuck with the working-clock icon (see the attached image).
After I restart the computer I can open up the manager, however, when I try to install any extension again, it gets frozen again in the middle of the installation and I have to forse quit the app again. I uninstalled it and installed it again, but no change.
The Extension manager was running smoothly on CS 6 but I had no luck with the CC. What is intersting though is when I install extensions not through the Extension Manager as "Subtle Patterns" it's showing in Photoshop and there are no problems with it.
I'm running on Mac OS X 10.8.5
Hope to get some help because I would really need those exptensions. Thank you.
Regards,
SamPlease make sure you have write permission to "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CC" and all its subfolders. And please delete "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CC/Configuration/DB/ExMan.db" if this file exists.
If it still doesn't work after you granted sufficient permission to yourself, please try to run EM as administrator.
1. Run "/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app".
2. Input the following command then press "Return" key. Don't miss the double quotation marks.
sudo "/Applications/Adobe Extension Manager CC/Adobe Extension Manager CC.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Extension Manager CC"
3. Input password of administrative user then press "Return" key.
If it works, you can try to run EM in normal way.
If it doesn't work, please generate log files and send it to [email protected]
1. In Terminal window, run the following commands in turn:
cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/Extension\ Manager\ CC/
mkdir Log
cd Log
touch ExManCoreLibLog.YES
2. Open Finder, hold down "option" key, click menu "Go"->"Library" to go into hidden Library folder, then go to its subfolder "Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CC/Log", check whether file ExManCoreLibLog.YES exists.
3. Launch EM.
4. After EM hangs, force quit it, send the log file in the Log folder above to us. -
Extension Manager CS5 will not open in Windows XP
I have been trying to install any extension in the EM CS5 and it will not open. I have removed it and re-installed several times with no luck. Is there an update or something I need to do to make this work? It will not run through Dreamweaver as well.
Thanks,1. If "C:\Documents and Settings\<YourUserName>\Application Data\Adobe\Extension Manager CS5\Configuration\Extensions\exman_uiPreferences.mxl" exists, delete this file.

If Extension Manager can not launched after you rename XManConfig.xml back for a certain product, then the problem is relevant to this product, please generate log files to assist troubleshooting. You can read other threads in this forum to learn how to generate log files. Of course, if you don't need Extension Manager to manage extensions for a specific product, you don't need restore name of XManConfig.xml for that product.
4. If Extension Manager can not be launched even if no any product is integrated, also please generate log files. -

Duplicate installation of Extension Manager?
I've recently rebuilt my computer. I downloaded the Creative Cloud desktop app and installed my favourite apps.
I've installed the following;
After Effects CC
Fireworks CS6
Photoshop CC
Audition CC
Muse CC
Premiere Pro CC
Edge Animate CC
Edge Code CC
Flash Pro CC
Illustrator CC
Touch App Plugins
I have two extension managers installed. CC and CS6. The CC version contains all of my CC apps and the CS6 version contains Fireworks.
Why is this needed and when will Fireworks be updated to CC?
Will the CS6 Extension Manager be removed when Fireworks is upgraded to CC?
While we are on the subject, can I uninstall Adobe Application Manager now that all of my Adobe products are (supposedly) managed by Creative Cloud desktop? My second PC was running Application Manager before it updated to Creative Cloud desktop but it never uninstalled the redundant Application Manager...
Keen to hear Adobe's thoughts on this... I like to keep my computer clean and duplicate apps frustrate the hell out of meThanks Laubender
Well that's a bummer!
Maybe Adobe will be nice enough to integrate it with Extension Manager CC as one of their future "bug fixes" so that people who still need Fireworks CS6 don't have to manage extensions across two different programs... *wink wink nudge nudge*
It's just nice to have it all there in one place. That's what I thought the Creative Cloud was all about!
