Extension manager refuses to accept extensions  because I must have DW CC version 12 or above. I'm using version 13.2 build 6466. Help, please. I'm using the latest iteration of the extension manager.

DW CC (13) uses new extension file types ZXP.  Older extensions won't work in CC unless you convert them to ZXP from CS6 (12) or go to your Extension Developer's site to see if they have ZXP replacements.

  • Extension Manager CS4 not installing extensions in Dreamweaver CS4

Just installed CS4 Design Premium. Now i want to install some
    extensions to Dreamweaver.
When I click on the extension to install it I get a message
    from the Extension Manager saying:
"This extension can not be installed, it products requires
Dreamweaver 6 or greater. To install this extension, please try to
install Dreamweaver CS4 or use Extension Manager CS3 which works
with Adobe CS3 and earlier products."
I have even tried to install it by opening the Extension
    Manager from Dreamweaver via the
Commands menu, with the same results.
    - I have version 2.0.274 of Adobe Extension Manager CS4.
    - I do not see the Dreamweaver icon in Extension Manager's
    product list*
    - I tried to reinstall Dreamweaver
    (which also reinstalled Extension Manager)
    - Easy to forget; I am on a Mac
    - The extensions should be okay, as they install quite nice
    in Dreamweaver CS3
I tried to look for a
plist to edit, but as I do not really know what to look for
    this action failed.
*in the same order i find the icons of Flash CS4, Fireworks
    CS4, Photoshop CS4, Indesign CS4, Illustrator CS4 and Bridge CS4 in
    the products list.

What extensions are you trying to install?

  • Adobe Extension Manager CS5 - Adobe InDesign extensions failed to import on Mac OSX 10.9.3

Purchased a new MacBook Pro in January and just now trying to load my copy of Adobe CS5 onto it. Everything installed okay, but when I launch Adobe Extension Manager I get an error message saying that certain extensions failed to import and to make sure they are valid extensions.
I tried to install a 3rd party extension that I use and it will not import either. Not sure if this is a software or hardware issue.
    Error message reads as follows:
The following extensions 'idcs5_AssetPubLibrary.zxp,idcs5_AssignmentUI.zxp,idcs5_Assignments.zxp,idcs5_AWS.zxp,idc s5_AWSUI.zxp,idcs5_BasicTools.zxp,idcs5_Book Panel.zxp,....' for product 'InDesign CS5' failed to be imported. Please make sure these are valid extensions.
I tried to update the extension manager to version 5.0.3 and that did not work. I tried uninstalling the entire suite and reinstalling and same results.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My guess is that you're trying to use the Migrate feature from OSX. Unfortunately, this will not work reliably with Adobe Creative Suite/Creative Cloud applications.
You'll need to run the Adobe Cleaner tool to delete all Adobe stuff you copied over:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation ... - Adobe
Then you'll have to install  CS5 from your original discs or a backup of your original install files.
Lacking that, you can download CS5 from this link:

  • Application manager insisting I "renew my subscription" but I have a standalone version of acrobat. Any way to convince the manager that my product is registered? There does not seem to be any manual additions in the application manager app.

I am using Mac OS X (yosemite). I had a creative cloud student subscription for a year (expired in September) and I did not renew. However, I did purchase adobe acrobat XI. I am not sure of the exact day it stopped working (before or after OS upgrade), but now the application manager takes over after I start acrobat and insists I do not have a subscription and must renew. I checked the web and my product is registered and I have the serial number, which I enter upon installation. I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything to no avail. I even contacted adobe and they seemed to have a hard time understanding why I was having a problem since the product was registered. I could not devote much time to the online chat so needless to say, my problem still persists.

Moving this discussion to the Acrobat Installation & Update issues forum.
Adugasjr please remove your current installation of Acrobat and reinstall.  If you need a fresh copy of the installation files they are available at Download Acrobat products | Standard, Pro | XI, X.

To send photos I need the 'attach files more easily' facility in my Yahoo email. After I recently upgraded my broadband so that I now get 37mb speed, Firefox (and Internet Explorer) started to 'not respond' so I un-installed it then re-installed it. I got the latest version of Firefox and now I can't get the facility back again. Have you got any suggestions? Yahoo have not been able to help.

Your Mac must be running at least Snow Leopard 10.6.6 in order to have Facetime.
If your Mac meets the specs for Snow Leopard, it is necessary to purchase the install DVD from Apple in order to upgrade to it.

  • Extensions Manager in Wrong Language

    CS4 Web Premium
Installed about a month ago, in English. Everything was running smoothly, and in English, except....
tried to use Extension Manager today, and it's in German.
I have searched everywhere, including Adobe support. I cannot find out how it happened or how to switch the language for Extension Manager to English. Any help appreciated.

I filed an issue with Adobe. Their response was to reinstall Extensions Manager from CS4 in English, since I must have installed it in German. All of the programs except Extensions Manager are in English. As always, they failed to read everything and jumped to a conclusion to get it off of their desk.
Here is what Adobe Support had to say:
I would like to give you a source of information:
Extensions are packaged for specific versions.
The Exchange site is currently an English resource, and extensions
are packaged by default for installation into English versions.
If you have installed cs4 Adobe Extension manager and Cs4 web premium separately, <--I did not
then I would recommend you to please uninstall the cs4 Adobe extension manager and run the
cs4 web premium which are already there in your setup files.   <--This might be worth trying
The moment you run the application click on next and then when you will get a screen where it will ask for components on the right hand side.
Please select custom install and check the extension manager and uncheck the rest and then proceed.
Once the installation gets complete, please restart Mac and try to check whether the extension manager is displaying in English.
Please note that all the Adobe applications depend upon the serial key in terms of language versions.
I hope that the serial key which you have is for the English version.  <--Yes, mine is an English version. All other CS4 installations show up in English.
Here is something additional on the problem:
It only launches in German when it is opened directly. I opened it from within Dreamweaver CS4, and there it was in English.
Since I was opening Extensions Manager on its own, it could be a product of the extension I was trying to install. I have not migrated my old extensions from CS3, so there was just one extension to load. I can only assume that the default language of the extension was German.
So, opening Extensions Manager from within the CS4 program seems to make the language set by the program installation, in this case English, work correctly. The extension attempting to be installed could be the instigator.

  • Extension Manager for CS3

I have to use both Flash CS3 & Flash CS5 but I can't install extensions on CS3. I can only install extensions on CS5 only. What's going on?
This is why I have to use both versions. I recently upgraded from CS3 to CS5 BUT after a few months working in CS5, I hate it. I'm rare in that I use Flash mostly to draw. So I reinstalled Flash CS3 but I can't load my "trick or script" extensions that I love so much since there is only Adobe Extension Manager CS5, which doesn't read that I have CS3 installed on my PC along with CS5.
I have to keep both versions of Flash on my PC because some of my newer files (which I created while I was testing out CS5) will now only open in CS5 since they were created in CS5.
Does anyone know a solution to this problem or can tell me why this is happening?

    Suggestion from other people:
ExMan CS3 and CS4 should can co-exist in the same os, user may try to uninstall ExMan CS3 in Applications->Utilities->Adobe Installers firstly before re-installing CS3.

  • Problem using extension manager CS5 with command line

    Hi All,
I had posted my question here : http://forums.adobe.com/message/4695419#4695419, but was advised to do so here as well..
I have a requirement to get the path of all the installed Extension Managers on any Windows system for the purpose of installing an extension.. I thought, there would be no problem in getting the path from the registry. There was no problem in Win XP, but the same does not work for Win 7.. I googled, and found alternate ways to get the path.
Here is the link : http://forums.adobe.com/thread/851359. I followed the instructions in this post, but failed to get this working for CS5 as mentioned in my previous thread... No problem for CS5.1 and CS6.. Why is that?
I want to get this working for CS5, CS5.1, CS6... How can I get the path of all the Extension Manager versions installed on a Windows system?
Please refer to the following screenshots to get a better understanding of my problem,
I created a jsx file named "Result.jsx", which I saved in my D drive, with the following code,
    resultFile = new File("D:/result.log");
    resultFile.open("w");
    resultFile.write(BridgeTalk.__diagnostics__);
    resultFile.close();
If I run this directly from ESTK CS5, there is no problem, and I get the result.log file. I tried to execute this script via command line as shown in the screenshot,
On executing the above, I got the following error,
    What is going wrong?
    Please help!

I am sorry for the poor documentation of Extension Manager which causes you so much trouble.
    1. You can use BridgeTalk API to ask specific version of Extension Manager to do something. There is sample in packaging_extension.pdf about this. You don't need to know the installation path of Extension Manager. One thing to note is that the value of bt.target is version specific, i.e. "exman-5.0", "exman-5.5" send this message to different version of Extension Manager, so you can change this value to install/enable/disable/remove extensions using different version of Extension Manager. More detailed documentation of BridgeTalk can be found by clicking "Help" menu then clicking "Javascript Tools Guide CS5" in "Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS5".
    2. Specific version of Extension Manager only manage extensions for corresponding version of product. You should use Extension Manager CS5 to install extensions for Photoshop CS5. The reason that the extension you installed for Photoshop CS5.1 using Extension Manager CS5.5 is displayed for Photoshop CS5 in Extension Manager CS5 is that two versions of Photoshop specified the same directory for Extension Manager to manage extensions. This is a defect and will cause some problems if multiple versions of Photoshop co-existed in one machine. But "to find  previous (CS5) extension manager and to enable it" should work for you, I guess you use command line to enable it and specify wrong product name (see #3) so that it doesn't work.
    3. When using command line, you should specify "product" attribute with the name displayed at the left panel of Extension Manager. So "Photoshop CS5 32" is correct. Remember to enclose it with double quote because of existence of space character.
    4. As above mentioned, use display name of Photoshop, and call proper version of Extension Manager by BridgeTalk.

  • Various problems using extension manager with command line

    Hello all,
We are installing our plugins  to CS4/5/5.1 version of Adobe Photoshop as part of our installer and  allow the users to select specific versions of Photoshop to install the  panel for. There are a few old problems that I wanted to rant about for  quite some while and now with a whole bunch of problems that the 5.1  update introduced I feel I just have to voice them. I will limit it to  PC only as it seems to be the most troubled platform
#1 As we cannot install our plugin only by using the  Extension Manager (simply because it cannot handle all we've to do upon  the installation) we have to run commands from within the our installer,  non-interactively, of course.
The interface to command line installation is xmancommand.exe (or "Extension manager (Version). exe" - not sure whether it makes any difference. ). Now the first question is how to find this executable on   the target machine, from an installer. Users may specify different  locations to install the Creative Suite and it certainly does NOT have  to  be  C:\Program Files\...(or %PRGRAMFILES% in general). ATM we are using an odd place in the registry  to to find the path to the most recent Extension Manager but first its  sometimes overwritten by another installation and in any case it  only shows ONE version of the extension manager which of course cannot  handle other versions (see #2)
#2 Why the most recent version of  Adobe Extension Manager (5.5) cannot install the extension for 5.0?  Well, install it actually does, however its disabled for CS5 and it  seems that the only way to enable it on this platform is to find  previous (CS5) extension manager and to enable it. Oh, actually no - it  doesn't work! The only way that I found here working is to find CS5  extension manager first, install the extension there and then use CS5.5  extension manager to enable it. Why do I need both utilities to manage  my extensions?!
#3 The program is severely lacking in  documentation AND it doesn't produce reasonable output messages, so  determining what it can actually support is a puzzle. For example, why  "Dreamweaver CS5" is a correct product name and "Photoshop CS5" is not (don't different teams talk to each other)? Ok, lets forget the consistency, but how do I make the utility output the list of all products it supports, in their  magic token form that it will actually be understood if passed in in the  command line? By trial and error? This menthod btw is also extremely painful: nany times when  specifying wrong parameters the program doesn't provide any output and just shrugs "whatever, go figure it yourself"...
#4 Why the only way to enable/disable an extension in Photoshop  seems to be using magic "productfamily" keyword that is not even listed  on Adobe's help page for command line options (here:  http://help.adobe.com/en_US/extensionmanager/cs/using/WSB4845EDD-14E5-476a-B749-FF328830D1 4F.html).?  E.g. "xmancommand.exe" -suppress -remove  product=Photoshop  extension=OurExtension" will ALWAYS fail with a lovely "'Photoshop is  not supported by Extension Manager CS5.5." error; I've tried "PhotoshopCS5", "Photoshop CS5", "PhotoshopCS5.1"  "Photoshop CS5.1", "Photoshop-12" (mentioned in examples section in  http://help.adobe.com/en_US/extensionmanager/cs/using/packaging_extension.pdf )  and a whole bunch of other permutations - none  seem to work (see #3). Magic "productfamily=Photoshop" does work. But  then it only aims the current version ("CS5.1") and I need it to work  for CS5 (I'm not even mentioning CS4...."). Would there be any suggestions?
Really, the question is, how do we, third-party developers, are  supposed to interact with the command-line utility without knowing where  it is, what product names is capable to work with and without being  able to target specific platforms (i86 vs x64 anyone  (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/672537)? CS5 vs CS5.1 (above)?). I don't  know what your test cases are for the command line tool (if any!), but this is simply insane, folks, simply  insane.

  • Why is Extension Manager choking on installing Adobe CC Libraries 11.5 on AI 18.1.1?

The error window states it requires AI v. 18.0 - 18.9. I am running v18.1.1.
The first error I found was an entry on the Creative Cloud app stating "The Add-on Creative Cloud Libraries installation failed because it is incompatible with installed... " The message concluded saying to "click here" which actually led nowhere. This message appeared the day I converted my LR to the CC version - that project appeared to complete successfully.
The puzzle is enriched as there is a Libraries Panel visible and functioning in my AI right now despite the error message.
    Suggestions?

    Hi Doug,
Thanks for the updates, I'll try to deal with each of your points as best I can.
It's expected that, for example, Lightroom is not listed in Extension Manager while Photoshop is listed. The reason for this is that some applications (such as Photoshop and Illustrator) have support for standard Adobe CEP extensions and are listed in Extension Manager, while others (such as Lightroom) do not, so they're not listed. For the sake of convenience, with applications such as Lightroom that Extension Manager doesn't fully recognise, it can still install extensions for them using ZXP packages prepared by the developer - but the extensions will be listed under "Others".
Thanks for the feedback about error messaging - I'll pass this on to product management so it can be taken into account in future.
Built-in components such as Kuler and CC Libraries are kept up to date using the Adobe Add-ons part of the Creative Cloud app. Whenever a new update is available, it will automatically be downloaded and installed through the Creative Cloud app. If this was failing (as sounds like was happening for you), then inside Photoshop you'd still see Kuler/CC Libraries but they may perhaps not be the most up-to-date versions of those panels.
If you manually install a ZXP package via Extension Manager with the same name as a product already installed, then Extension Manager will see it as a conflict and give you the option to install your new one over the top. As long as the new ZXP is compatible with both applications (Photoshop and Illustrator) then it'll be installed for both.
I don't quite understand your installation problems for the Magic Picker product. Do you mean that it installs successfully for Illustrator CC 2014 and Photoshop CC 2014 (including appearing for those applications in Extension Manager), but it doesn't appear under Illustrator CC? If the compatible application is listed in Extension Manager and Extension Manager is showing the extension as installed, then this may be a question for the producer of Magic Picker.
    Best regards,
    Fraser
