Extension to Create Scenes with HDV Video

Is there an extension to make Premiere Pro create scenes with HDV video like it does with DV and DVCAM?

  • IDVD behaving strangely with HDV video from FCP X and FCP 7?

AVCHD exported from FCP X as ProRes 422 works perfectly in iDVD producing a 16:9 DVD.
HDV doesn't, even though QT Player plays it perfectly.
The odd thing is that 4 years ago, using legacy FCP my exported HDV videos had no problems being recognised as 16:9 by iDVD.
So why are FCP X produced HDV videos not recognised as 16:9?
P.S.  I know that iDVD never recognised DV in the 16:9 format but it always worked with HDV.
Incidentally, the old trick of opening it in QT Pro and changing the frame size to 1024 x 576 does not work!
Even stranger, I have just opened the HDV clips in FCP 7 and exported them as a QuickTime Movie.
iDVD plays them back in the correct aspect ratio but look at the effect  .  .  .  .  muted colours and green patterns all over.
This never happened in the past!

I mentioned several problems so I don't know which one you are referring to.
After experimenting I found some workarounds.
To cure the squashed image I created a ProRes 422 preset in Compressor 4 with a frame size of 1920 x 1080 and exported from FCP X using Compressor Presets.
Everything now works perfectly except the encoding seems to take  longer.
I got rid of the moire pattern when using FCP 7 by exporting as ProRes 422 1920 x 1080.

  • HELP NEEDED CAPTURE DV FOOTAGE WITH HDV VIDEO CAMERA

I'm trying to capture DV video footage I've done years ago with my Sony DCR-HC40E PAl into FCP version 6. with my new camera HDV video Sony HDR-HC7 1080.i/mini dv so I can capture it into FCP but it's jerky, An yone know the setting for both the HDv camera and FCP to get the footage perfect as the rginal video.
    Cheers

From the FCP menu bar: Final Cut Pro > Easy Setup > DV-PAL > OK. (Use DV PAL Anamorphic if you shot wide screen).
Menu bar once more: Sequence > Settings > Set Sequence Preset > OK.
That camera should detect the DV format tape and playback with the correct settings automatically.
All you ned to do is connect it via FireWire and capture.
For everything else, here's the manual for that camera: http://www.docs.sony.com/release/HDRHC5.pdf

  • Premier Pro CS4 having trouble with HDV video

Recently I had a video shot with an HD camera and use the HDV codec. I couldnt even open these files in Adobe Premier - until someone was able to install Final Cut Pro on the computer (assumin FCP came with some sort of codec). I just dont know how to use final cut pro - but that program seems to have no problems with this video file.
So im trying to edit it using Premier PRO - but the video is very delayed - almost in slow motion. Does anyone know what i can do? I really need to make some simple edits to this video and then render it out as an FLV - i dont have time to learn final cut pro before this needs to be done.
Any information or tips would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    amanda

    Amanda,
It would appear that you are on a Mac. I'm not sure if G-Spot will run on a Mac, unless you also have some form of Windows system on it, i.e. Bootcamp, or similar. You might get info on this from the G-Spot site.
If it will not run, you'll be missing a wonderful tool. Instead, open QuickTime Player. Load one of these files. Hit Ctrl-j (Command-j on the Mac, I think) to get to the Properties screen. Look there to find out the CODEC's used in these files. Let us know about them. I do not know FCP, but it probably has a built-in Properties utility, that might yield more and better info on the files, that QT Player will. Would be worth a look and a try.
You are probably correct that it's a CODEC issue and that FCP has access to the proper one. It could well be that PrPro cannot even use that one, but until we find out what it is, we'll not know.
BTW, what make and model of camera?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Is iMovie compatible with HDV footage?

    Hello guys,
is iMovie compatible with HDV video?
Log and Capture via FireWire, exporting as Quick Time..etc? Or do I need at least Final Cut Express
    for HDV?
    Thank you so much

Imovie is very compatible with HDV. As long as you have firewire port, you are golden. FYI--log and transfer is Final cut express way of handle AVCHD files.

  • Scene Window with Multiple Video Cards?

    Hi,
I'm using the 3d Picture Control and displaying images using the scene window (the video hardware-accelerated window).  The original video card was a Nvidia Quadro FX370 (PCI-express slot).  I added a second video card, a Nvidia GeForce 6200 (PCI slot).  Now the scene window will only render on displays connected to the second video card.  When moved to a display on the original card, no scene is displayed and the window latches on to the background.  Does anyone have any experience with this or have any suggestions?
    TIA,
    Joe

    Hi Joe,
It seems as though there may be a conflict between the drivers for the two video cards. Since the video cards are made by the same company there may be some shared files between the driver and when they both try accessing the file it could be creating an errorous situation. The first step I would take is to ensure that you have the most up to date drivers for both video cards to verify that this situation has not already been fixed. Next to identify if your video cards are in fact sharing files:
Right click on My Computer and select properties to bring up the System Properties
Click on the Device Manager under the Hardware tab
Once the device manager is populated expand the display adapters and select one of your video card drivers
Right click and bring up its property window
Go to the Driver tab and click on the Driver Details to bring up all of the files the driver uses
Repeat steps 3-5 for the other video card driver and compare to see if it shares any files
Please reply and let me know the results of this process. This will help us to more specifically identify our issue.
Thanks and have a great night!

  • Creating an interface with several video windows where a user can connect their own camera to window

    Hi,
I posted this in the Flash Media Live encoder Forum and it may have been the wrong place to get an answer.
currently I use the following workflow for Live video streaming.
I have FMLE on a computer streaming the Video feed to my FMS.
I currenlty use  Dreamweaver to create window with a few instances of a video window and one of the windows is configured to rtmp to my server and the stream name of the stream I have setup in FMLE.
This then streams to one of the windows.
I then assign a different Stream name to the other windows.
I send an FMLE client to a user in the locations that want to have a video presence on the webpage.
I send them instructions and running FMLE and the parameters to use to get their camera up and running.
This works fine to a point.
Most of the users are not technically minded and so often this leads to issues and delays to get these things to work.
I want to move on and improve this flow.
I want to create the video instances on the page where:
Below each video window is a text input field where a user can type in their name which will be used as the stream name.
Below each video window is a button that the user clicks to connect their camera automatically without having to install FMLE.
Once the video feed is running, only that user can click the button again to disconnect it. ( The button changes to "Stop Broadcast" etc).
I have looked at the structure of Ustream for example, and this seems to be the method they use as you can download the XML file of your channe,l and the RTMP URL and stream name can be copied and then used directly in FMLE and you can stream with more control of your camera that way.
Can you please provide instructions or guidance on how to begin this process?
    thanks

    Hi,
Thanks for your interest in this kind of workflow.
There are multiple ways to do it. Adobe Connect does this seamlessly.
But to try out few of the latest technlogies, I recommend trying RTMFP. There is a hosted server where you can try out your sample client applications. There is also client application made similar to what you are looking for.

I would like to create a document with imbedded video, to email, and airdrop to an iPad mini. What program should I use?

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities
I would suggest using Apple's Pages which allows support for imbedding videos from the device's camera roll. Pages also allows for sharing via email, Air Drop, and Messages.

  • How do I create/host interactive articles with embedded video for use in browsers?

    I'm seeking a little guidance -
How do I create/host interactive articles with embedded video for use in browsers?
The aim is to bring together video, design, images and writing in one place. A little like Born Presents, but very accessible and user friendly.
I'm happy using InDesign but want to create interactive articles / magazines that have embeded video files as required. I've been looking at .SWF files but I've come unstuck.
I want people to view the articles via a blog, ideally with them opening in a lightbox style viewer. It's not intended for tablet viewing and people should be able to view and interact with the files with little effort on their part.
I think I know how to create these files within InDesign, but I'm not so hot on web design and I'm not sure how to host these online. Does this start coming into the realms of Flash?
If anyone could point in the right direction I'd really appreciate it - Thank you in advance.

PDF is one thing. Folios for DPS is another. There is a little bit of
    overlap but not much.
The interactivity in the folio overlays panel is for DPS only.

I started to learn HTML, and I'm using text edit and everything is going fine, when I save the file with a .html extension and open it with safari I only view the code and not the webpage that was supposed to be created.

That is because you don't have a web server configured and running to serve the html page. In order to see the page in a browser you need to access it using a url similar to http://localhost/~yourUserName if you are serving the page from your user account.
Prior to Mountain Lion you could go into web sharing and turn on the web server. With Mountain Lion there is no option, other than using terminal, to turn on the web server. The web sharing menu item has been removed in Mountain Lion. Apache is still on your computer but it will take a little searching these forums or the Internet to find how to turn it on.
If you want a graphic user interface to turn on/off the Apache server you could download and install a server application like xampp, http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html. I use this and it works well.

  • HDV Video isn't as cheap to work with as it appears.

Ya know something folks? I'm reading so many people shooting some flavor of HDV and becoming dissappointed with it for one reason or another.
I think a lot of it comes from the fact that monitoring externally in HD isn't cheap, shooting it isn't much more than quality DV, but editing it isn't. It's a the big buried "secret" the HDV manufacturers aren't publicizing... why? because HD montors and gear to allow for this monitoring to happen can more than double the cost of shooting the stuff.
So I guess I'm saying that if you intend to go to HD, then consider that you have to also upgrade your editing system to work with it properly. Just today I've read 3 posts in this forum about quality issues with HDV files. Every one of these folks are judging the quality of the image in their Canvas... which isn't designed to let you see all the quality you have no matter what the format... Computer displays aren't designed to work with interlaced video either... they can be adpated to do so, but it's a $1,000 price tag on top of the display itself, and it's not optimal because you can't setup a computer display like you can a pro video monitor.... that's another discussion I guess.
DV was an easy jump from VHS in the low end of video. You could use SD monitors for external viewing and you could use a deck or camera to send an analog signal to it.
This can't be done with HDV... And to see what you have going before delivery you HAVE to monitor your video externally. This can EASILY cost another $3,000 or more to do it. Now the answer is simple... SPEND THE MONEY, or trust that it's looks OK. (Trusting it is less expensive, but scary to say the least - I don't recommend it, but it's better than shooting DV and forgetting HD all together I suppose.
A nice LCD HD TV set would be better than naught... but don't forget the cost of the box or capture card to allow a signal to be sent to it... optimally? the real cost of doing this on a professional level starts at about $6,000... Kona card and Panasonic/sony LCD HD pro monitor, and even then, a professional colorist would tell you it's not good enough.
    Jerry

Progressive scan looks better on a computer display, but it doesn't correct for the gamma differences between computer displays driven by computer display cards and monitors... meaning the color won't be spot on. So I'd still recommend that if you want to use a computer display, a decent setup for this would be a 23" Cinema Display and Matrox's MXO to drive it with, which does help with the gamma correction.
I recently reviewed this setup for the COW magazine, and it was pretty good... I compared bars on my CRT to the bars shown on the CD, and they were very close after setting up my Cinema Display to match them as close as I could with my old eyes. Still not as optimal no doubt. As the step up from this, which would be a Panasonic LCD, the 17" is OK, but the 26" is better because you can actually see a pixel for pixel display. AND you can setup these monitors with a blue only button like any pro monitor. (you'd still need the Matrox if you don't have an HD capture card).
Setup from that? a Kona 3 card, Which will cross convert any flavor of HD to uncompressed or what have you... And with a mini converter from them, you can also capture HDV as DVCPROHD or uncompressed HD (which would be lossess). Now were talking about $7,000. Even Panasonic will say it's not good enough for "critical" color correction. Sony's LCD HD pro monitors aren't any better don't think, and they not only cost more, but Sony doesn't tout them as being good enough for "critical color correction". They are talking about an improvement here in that price range in the next gen monitors though... we'll see probably by NAB this year.
If you went this way, and wanted the best of the best, you'd also need a fast disk array to work with uncompressed HD. This will set you back another 5k minimum... Told ya, the "hidden" costs of working in HD are indeed pricey...
I'd recommend the Matrox and a 23" CD for anybody doing prosumer or consumer work.. it's good enough for non critical work done for non broadcast. Broadcast starts with the Matrox and the panny LCD... and big time best in the world? Well NOW we're talking an HD CRT. Sony sells them, and the ones large enough for the job are like $35,000!!!!
Ya know, when you work in the "bleeding edge" it's just not cheap.
This will all get less expensive over time, and the sooner it gets there, the better I'd say.
One thing that really gets my goat is the sheer number of digital formats. I think the Japanese have made this such a confusing thing, and it's all for THEIR benefit. Hey, if there was only one flavor of HD, they couldn't sell 10 video machines for each of the high end edit bays out there. They really got hurt when NLE's came of age, and mulitple deck editing systems went the way of the dodo... I think that's why they make so many different formats, so the pro post houses still have to buy a bunch of machines to satisfy the market. Sony's been losing money hand over fist in Pro video, and I think that the market is just fed up with the price tags they ask for their equipment. Panasonic is leading the way with less expensive gear and bonking Sony pretty bad I think. DVCPROHD is good enough for a lot of shows...
In any event it's content that matters the most by far. You can have the prettiest picture imaginable, but if the content of your show isn't compelling, it's gonna fail. Great content even though it's being shown in less than the best picture quality, will win the awards hands down EVERY TIME.
Sorry, I digressed, but I'm just in the "mood" right now.
    Jerry

  • Creating user with extension mobility on prime provisioning 10.5

    Hi All,
Does anyone know any document or have any expirenece on creating user with extension mobility on prime provisioning 10.5?
I'm facing challenges on it, appreciate if you have any document or experience to share with me.
    Thanks,
    Cherry

What sort of issues are you facing?
I'm also having problems, but I think it is system related.
    CUCM is LDAP synced.
When PCP tries to provision Extension Mobility Access, it actually seems to be trying to update the user on CUCM (via AXL) (this fails as it is an LDAP user and the values come from LDAP and cannot be updated)
I've got a tac case open.
Bug details are currently hidden - CSCuo11522 - but this one is extension mobility provisioning issue
There was also mention of another bug related to failures to provision users with directory URI's in their LDAP record. I didn't catch a bug ID for this one though.

  • How To Remove FLVPlayback Video on Scene with Audio

I was trying to add a video for playback to be used in my Scene on Flash Professional CC. I imported the video and added it to my library, before adding it to my scene frame. My plan was to use the video and have its audio play in the background, while my Scene was running in the foreground. So I followed "Test Movie", then clicked on "In Flash Professional". I managed to have the Scene run in the foreground multiple times, while the video's audio was running in the background.
However, while editing my scene and my video, I accidentally added the FLVPlayback component to my frame. I clicked on "Window", then clicked on "Components", and opened the "Components" window. I then dragged "FLVPlayback" from the "Video" folder, onto my Scene frame. Now, whenever I  follow "Test [my] Movie", my scene shows in the foreground while the video, that is, its image, graphics and audio, at the same time, run in the background.
I want to get read of the "FLVPlayback" component so that I can get rid of the image and graphics running in the background when I "Test [my] Movie". I tried to reset my settings by clicking Ctrl+Alt+Shift and selecting my taskbar icon at the same time. I went through the whole process of restoring the default settings but it did not work.
Can anyone help? By the way I am using the Flash Professional CC Trial Version.

If you did a bunch of changes the only way to get back to how you had it before is to manually undo what you did yourself.
To get rid of the FLVPlayback component just select it on the stage if it's there and press delete. Then in the library select the component and its skin folders and delete those as well. You should then just have your video in the library and any other assets you imported yourself. Then you can place the video back on the timeline if that's how you'd like to play it.
