Extensions Gallery

Fairly recently, I think following a Safari upgrade, a row of icons appeared on my Safari toolbar, below the main address input box and above the Bookmark tags.
I have concluded that these are icons from the extensions gallery. I am at a loss to know why they appeared and and at an even greater loss as to how to remove them. I have gone to 'Safari Extensions Gallery' by way of the drop down menu. However the information there gives me lots of options of extensions to add but no information of how to erase the dam irritating things!
I hate the appearance of superfluous rubbish on my screen. If I wanted that sort of environment I would have chosen to use a Microsoft product.
Can anybody explain to me how to get rid of this visual contamination and how to ensure its non-reapearance please.
R.B.

Hi and welcome..
I think following a Safari upgrade, a row of icons appeared on my Safari toolbar, below the main address input box and above the Bookmark tags.I have concluded that these are icons from the extensions gallery
Only if you installed Extensions.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Slide the button to OFF.
Also, you can change the Safari toolbar by clicking View in the menu bar click then click: Customize Toolbar.
I hate the appearance of superfluous rubbish on my screen.
The only way you can modify the Safari toolbar is to install Extensions or third party add ons. If you have installed third party plugins, troubleshooting help here.

In order to use the Safari Extensions Gallery you need to upgrade to Snow Leopard v10.6
    See system requirements here:  http://www.apple.com/safari/download/
If you want to upgrade to v10.6, make sure your Mac meet's Snow Leopard's - Technical Specifications

  • I downloaded from Safari Extension Gallery "Awesome Screenshot" then  remove it. No my Internet is not working, my Safari simply hangs

I downloaded from Safari Extension Gallery "awesome Screenshot" couple of days ago and then decided to remove it from the system . Since then the awesome icon does not appear But my Safari is suffering as it is not loading the pages. Please help

Try removing any other extensions and plugins and if that works introduce them one at a time, you may find it is one of those causing the problem.
If that does not work create a new post, this one being closed will gather less interest and someone who as an answer could miss it.

  • Extension gallery add-in

I have a custom add-in that implements IDTExtensibility2, IDTCommandTarget interfaces. I'm looking in to make it accessible throw visual studio extension gallery and have a few questions:
    - Can add-ins be installed from the extension gallery? My impression is that I can create a .msi and a link to it , is that right?
    - Can I convert the add-in to an extension VSIX package, is there any example of how to use DTE from extensions?

    Hi,
    - No, setups of add-ins can be downloaded from the Visual Studio gallery but can not be installed directly as you can with packages.
    - It is mandatory to convert add-ins to packages because VS 2015 will remove add-ins. You can use the automation model (EnvDTE) from a package:
HOWTO: Get an EnvDTE.DTE instance from a Visual Studio package.

  • Extensions Gallery won't load?

I'm on Mountain Lion 10.8.5 and Safari 6.1. Can not get Safari's Extension Gallery to load at all! Doesn't matter what browser I'm using. Facebook, too, is extremely slow in loading? No sure if there is a relationship between the two?

No, this has nothing to do with your internet speed.
You're not alone in having issues with the Safari extensions gallery. I just noticed more topics in the Safari community regarding issues with the extensions galley, not just yours.

Sorry, I didn't see the other topics sooner. Don't bother taking time to troubleshoot plug-ins.
It would help if you wouldn't mind providing feedback to Apple > Apple - Mac OS X - Feedback
The sooner the developers see complaints, the sooner a fix (usually in the form of an update) comes along.

  • How to search Safari Extensions Gallery on the Apple site?

This is a question for Safari users about the Apple.com/safari website.
How do I search the Safari Extensions Gallery on their website? The search bar at the top only searches the whole Apple site.
Just like with Widgets, it seems that Apple doesn't really want me to find anything useful to improve my Safari (or Dashboard) experience(s).
    Frustrated with Apple lately,

    Thanks, Carolyn.
The categories feature is somewhat helpful, but I can never guess which categories I'll find things in. For example, there is no productivity category, although there is in iTunes. It seems reasonable to expect the same categories throughout the Apple domain, but this is not always the case. Therefore, searching for Evernote extension is tricky.
For this reason, I'm looking for the actual search, just like in the app store, so that I can just key in the extension I'm searching for and find it more easily. Does that exist? or is it a missing feature of the Safari Extensions Gallery?
    Thanks,
    DLM

  • I can't download from the Safari Extensions gallery

    Hi,
*I can't see any download/install buttons in the Apple Safari Extensions page.* I just uninstalled ALL my extensions trying to troubleshoot this and now I can't get them back.
I know there are at least two other issues like this but they're both unanswered and I honestly can't follow how some people claim to have been able to fix it.
Please help! I won't have any choice but to switch to Chrome if I don't get this fixed.
    Thanks,
    Carlos

    Hi,
Open a Fiinder window. Select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Now open the Library folder then the Safari folder then the Extensions folder.
If any of the extensions you have installed are in that folder, move them to the Desktop.
Quit Safari (Command + Q) then relaunch Safari and try the gallery.
If that didn't help, go back to the Extension folder and move the Extensions.plist file to the Trash.
    Relaunch Safaari, try agian.

  • I have a lock on my address bar when I open the Safari Extensions gallery. What's up with that?

I was installing extension from the gallery when it stopped working.  Now there is a Apple Inc. and lock in the address bar.  Does anyone know why and what I can do about it?

    Hi
    ~/Library/Safari/Extensions
Quit safari and drag out the extension that you recently downloaded. Open safari and if the problem is gone you know what the problem is.

  • Glasses dissappeared from toolbar! And they are not in Extensions gallery

The glasses have diappeared from my safari toolbar.  Checked the extensions, and they are not there either.  So now all my saved sites are gone?  Or are they hiding somewhere?  Has this hapened to anyone else?

How do I know what is a built in application?
Open the About window from the menu bar. If you see something like this:
    Copyright © 2003–2012 Apple Inc.
it's Apple software and you shouldn't move or copy it. You can make as many aliases as you want, and put them anywhere you want.

  • New to Mac, what plug-in/extension do I need for "missing Internet plug-in" message?

I was trying to view a video while in Facebook and this message appeared under the video run arrow:  missing Internet plug-in" I'm using safari on OS 10.6.7 on an iMac. Went to the extensions gallery, but don't need anything there. Went to Safari-Preferences-Extensions and have no clue where to go next. Online searching for "correct" terminology yielded results that still don't answer my question. Are all extensions really plug-ins or are they two distinct categories of browser enhancements?

ADDITIONAL INFO for my original question:
I found the list of installed Plug-ins, but although it shows a list including Quick-Time Plug-ins that includes numerous mime video plug-ins, I was still not able to access the video content on Facebook.

  • Safari doesn't download extensions- When I click on the install button it says "This developer's server appears to be busy. Please try again later."

I`ve restarted my macbook, checked the wifi (webpages still load), and downloaded the extensions from the developer`s websites. When I download the extensions this way they supposedly install but yet I've yet to see them actually work. (Ultimate Status Bar doesn't appear in links, News Ticker doesn't show news, etc.) I know I probably installed too many, too fast. I uninstalled all my previous extensions and the problem still persists.
I've tried installing the same extensions on my iMac and they work perfectly. What can I do??
    Thank You in advance...
    Adrian

Can you install from the Safari Extensions Gallery instead > https://extensions.apple.com/
Downloading extensions from the internet instead of the Safari gallery may not be a safe thing to do anyway. I downloaded the file from here > http://ultimatestatusbar.com/    then a dialog asked if I wanted to download from the internet. I for one never download extensions except from the gallery.
I found it in the gallery >  https://extensions.apple.com/
Try downloading from there instead. That will download the file to your Downloads folder. Double click the file to install.

  • Missing extensions/plug-ins for Safari.

So, I recently had a virus/malware scare and to take care of it (which I did) I got rid of all extensions/plug ins for Safari.
I've currently only got Adobe Flash Player, and nothing else which is really hindering me. I've looked all over but I can't find out what the plug-ins or extensions I need are.
The most recent issue was something about Audio Midi when I couldn't play an audio thing online while looking for guitar chords stuff.
After that gave it a shot by asking Apple, but the closest Apple store is too far to be worth driving to and I can't afford $50 or however much it is to get the info/links/whatever I need.

There's no need to install Safari extensions if you don't wan to, however, there might want to check out the extensions gallery. You may find something useful.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Safari Extensions ...
To avoid malware, open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General
Make sure:  Mac App Store and identified developers  is selected.
If that area is grayed out, click the padlock icon to proceed.

  • No extensions will install in Safari 5.01

Upgraded to 5.01 so i could use the extension library from Apple, but none of the extensions will install.
Extensions are turned on in the preference pane, but every time I try to install one I get this message. "Safari can't install this extension" An error occurred while installing the extension xxxxxx. xxxxx can be replaced by any extension name. I have tried all of them and none will install.
I moved the extension .plist to the trash and tried again, but no success. Any suggestions?

    Interesting.
I installed the reload extension a while ago, before Safari 5.0.1 (as you know you could activate extensions in Safari 5), but it crashed Safari so I removed it.
Combing through the extensions gallery I saw it there but decided not to bother - Safari already has a reload 'button' at the end of the URL bar, and Command-R does the same thing - and after reading your experience I definitely won't bother!

  • Safari Extension Submission

    Hi
I submitted a Safari extension at https://developer.apple.com/submission/safari/, and 3 months later still do not seen it on the "Safari Extension Gallery at http://extensions.apple.com/ nor have I received an notification as to its status.
Is there any procedure for determining the status of submissions and the submission pages do not provide any means of tracking this ???
    Best Regards
