Extensions Manager Reinstall Issues

I need to reinstall Extensions Manager 1.8. Problem is I keep
getting an error saying its already installed even though it isn't.
This is driving me insane. Is there some line of code the
uninstalled didn't hit to remove all instances of the initial
implementation?

Have you tried cleaning your computer's registry?

  • Creative cloud extension manager freezing even after reinstall on iMac w/Mavricks

I recently installed CC photoshop, lightroom, & bridge. I tried to instal my Tony Kuyper action panel using CC extension manager, but it sat there thinking (the little clock) for hours. (I have CS6 and my actional panel installed on CS6 using cs6 extension manager NP) I tried again with the same result so I then unistalled it using the unistaller, and then I reinstalled it, as soon as I opened it,It immediatly went right back to the little clock thinking. So there must be some residual inforamtion that was not being removed during the uninstalation process. I am on an Imac with the latests version of Mavricks as of (Nov 25 2013). Should I completely remove everything CC and start over?

    Thanks for the suggestion.
I've attempted to repair permissions the usual way, as well as through a complete cleanup via Onyx.  Still no dice.
Creative Cloud Desktop was working previously, for quite a few months (with the occasional "can't connect" and inability to load the App Update panel, which seems to plague the software constantly anyway...but at least it worked intermittently) well after I installed Yosemite.
This is a more recent issue...just a few days ago...before installing the update, as well as after.

  • I fixed my Extension Manager Issues.

A customer of mine came in today with his Apple Hackintosh system, running OS X Lion 10.7.1 with all updates done, and the Java Library already installed.
The issue they were having was to do with Adobe Extension Manager just crashing about 10 seconds after opening, it would not load anything just sit with a grey screen for a few moments and then just crash.
I ran an application called fseventer on his system and watched as the application opened to determine at what point it was crashing, each time I noted that the crash was something to do with the extensions being loaded by Adobe InDesign.
I opened InDesign and all seemed to be working correctly.
At this point I un-installed the entire Adobe CS 5.5 Master Collection and ran the Adobe cleanup utility, the re-installed the entire thing on International English, with all the applications.
Opened Photoshop and ran the Adobe Update Manager, to download and install every update.
Opened AcrobatX and ran the updater, to download and install all it's updates.
I repaired permissions on the entire drive through disk utility, rebooted onto Disk Warrior, repaired the directories, rebooted into single user mode ran the fsck -fy / command, and booted into the main account, not the root account.
Then I tried to open Adobe Extension Manager, same thing just a crash. Then I tried Adobe InDesign and that was still working just fine.
I opened my main hard disk, and went to this path "/Applications/Adobe InDesign CS5.5/Configuration/" in there I opened the file XManConfig.xml like this
In terminal type this to first backup the original file then open it and edit it.
    BACKUP THE FILE
    sudo cp -R /Applications/Adobe\ InDesign\ CS5.5/Configuration/XManConfig.xml /Applications/Adobe\ InDesign\ CS5.5/Configuration/XManConfig.xml.bak
    EDIT THE FILE
    sudo nano /Applications/Adobe\ InDesign\ CS5.5/Configuration/XManConfig.xml
The first line of this file should look like this
    <Data key="UserExtensionFolder">$UserDataFolder/Adobe/Adobe InDesign CS5.5/Configuration/Extensions</Data>
all I did was comment that line out so it now looks like this
    <!--<Data key="UserExtensionFolder">$UserDataFolder/Adobe/Adobe InDesign CS5.5/Configuration/Extensions</Data>-->
then I wrote the file with CTRL O, hit enter to save over the file with the same name, then CTRL X to exit the nano editor, then type exit in termal and quit.
Open AdobeExtension Manager and it is working.
The commented out line is pointing to a directory here
    /Users/YOUR USER NAME/Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/Adobe\ InDesign\ CS5.5/Configuration/Extensions/
I have no idea what this directory does, but with it commented out I can launch Extension Manager, and I can still open InDesign without any errors, if I rather delete the contents of this folder and leave the line of the xml file untouched, these extensions just repopulate themselves as Extensions Manager begins to open, but maybe 1 loads then a crach, then 4 the next time then a crach etc.
So I would stick with just commenting out the line on the XML file.
I would love it if you guys could give me your feedback on this to see if anyone else finds this method to work or not.
I have done installations on other Lion systems for customers on real mack not hackintoshes and have fount them all to work without an issue, in fact i did an installation on another hackintosh too and that worked well, only this one so far, I think it has something to do with the fact that this hackintosh had to have a modified kernel and a DSDT file to rectify an issue of having to use a chameleon command of cpus=1 busratio=25 -v as this would only allow one thread of the cpu to function, this command is no longer required as the kernel and DSDT are rectifying the issue and still allowing all 8 threads of the cpu to function as normal.
The reason I think this could be the cause is because I am sure Adobe does not account for every permientation of non vanilla Apple installations, these so called chocolate kernels are a bit different to the Apple one.
Anyway I hope this helps out someone. I am off on holiday now but I will keep an eye on my emails in case anyone needs some assistance with any of these commands. I am going on an adventure holiday to the Victoria Falls to do a microlight flight over the falls. The reason I tell you this is so you do not wonder if I never return.

have you tried other solutions in this forum? Such as use sudo command, rename XManConfig.xml, delete ~/Library/Preferences/macromedia, grant write permission to some folder...?
It's possible to install extensions without Extension Manager. The method depends on the type of extensions.
    1. If your extension is a zxp file, then you can unzip the file and copy those files within it to their destination manually. The extension would work in corresponding products. You can unzip it with Winzip, 7-zip, Winrar or similar softwares (actually it is a zip file).
1.1 If a file with postfix ".mxi" exists within zxp file, you can paste this mxi file here, I will tell you where each file should be copied to. (mxi file is a xml file).
1.2 Otherwise you can find a file named "manifest.xml" under CSXS sub-directory. Please open it with a text editor, you will find ExtensionBundleId="someText" in second line. Write down the value of ExtensionBundleId. Close this file. Create a new folder under "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS5ServiceManager/extensions" and rename it to what you write down. (For example, if you find ExtensionBundleId="KulerSample" in manifest.xml, then name the new folder as KulerSample.) Copy all files and directories which you unzipped from zxp file to this folder.
    2. If your extension is a mxp file, it can not be unzipped directly. Please upload it to this forum as attachment, I will convert it to a zxp file then return it to you.

  • Why would Extension Manager CS6 report dependency issues for 29 InDesign CS6 factory plug-ins?

Suddenly Extension Manager CS6 is reporting dependency issues for 29 InDesign CS6 factory plug-ins. I made no changes to those plugins that might have precipitated this. Anyone have any ideas about what might have happened? (This is happening with Extension Manager 6.0.8.28 and InDesign 8.0.2.) Some examples of the plugins reported as not meeting dependency condition are the following:
       Book Panel (8.0.0.370)
       PDF (8.0.2.413)
       Snippet (8.0.0.370)
       XML (8.0.2.413)
       XMLParser (8.0.0.370)
    Hayden

    1. You only pasted one log file (log0.log?), there is another more important log file: ExtensionManager.log you dind't paste.
    2. Have you removed ALL mxi files from ALL subfolders of BOTH "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Extension Manager CS6\EM Store" AND "C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Extension Manager CS6\EM Store" to separate folder? If yes, Extension Manager shouldn't hang.
    3. Please make sure you have "Full control" permission to ""C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Extension Manager CS6\Configuration\DB\ExMan.db" and "C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Extension Manager CS6\Configuration\DB\ExManUser.db". You can check it in "Security" tab page of "Properties" dialog box.

  • Reinstalling Dreamweaver (or Extension Manager) fails to solve problems

Normally, when you uninstall Dreamweaver or the Extension Manager, your personal configuration folder is left intact. This is designed to preserve your preferences when reinstalling on the same computer. However, if the reason you're reinstalling is because the program has started acting erratically (or not at all), you should also delete your personal configuration folder before reinstalling.
In fact, it might not be necessary to go through the process of uninstalling and reinstalling. Quite often, deleting the personal configuration folder does the trick, and resets everything back to the factory defaults.
Instructions on how to locate your personal configuration folder. The Extension Manager has a configuration folder of its own in the Adobe folder two levels higher than the Dreamweaver configuration folder.

What's the meaning of "remoting onto the machine"? Is it by "Remote Desktop Control"( mstsc )? There is no difference in running Extension Manager locally or by RDC. However, you have to make sure that you login with the same account. If you still can not launch Extension Manager on your laptop, you can generate log files and paste them here.
BTW, we created "Frequently Asked Questions" sub forum for Extension Manager. You might find some useful information in it. Check out http://forums.adobe.com/community/creativesuites/extensionmanager/faq

  • Extension manager sc4 unavailable please reinstall

I have reinstalled this program over and over and over and over again. I even use the third party programs from the other forums to completly wipe my system of the program after fully uninstalling it because It would not install after upgrading from cs3 now when I try to install extensions i get extension manager sc4 unavailable please reinstall and I am tired of reinstalling.
I spent a entire week installing and unstalling this to even get it to install the first time

The mostly reason is that you chose not to install the Extension Manager upon installation.  It's available for free download from Adobe here.

  • Adobe Extension Manager CC Has Stopped Working - Anyone having the same issue? Please help.

This is part of a paid subscription but it has stopped working.
I have re-installed but no dice, says the same thing.
Any ideas as to what the problem is?

I can certainly give you details relating to my problem. I downloaded jsp support for Dreamweaver. I am attempting to install the extension and Adobe Extension Manager CC instantly crashes, providing the popup message stating,
"Adobe Extension Manager CC has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program.
    ->Close the program"
Pretty vague if you ask me, but quite typical for Adobe.

  • Issue with CS5.5 extension Manager

I have CS5.5 installed and wanted to look for new extension via extension manager. When I click the link to Exchange it brings me to https://www.adobeexchange.com/ where I'm being asked to download and install AdobeExchange.zxp. So tried that and Extension manager throws this error. What is going on?

For the CS5.5 or earlier, you have to look for extensions in the old version of Exchange. At https://www.adobeexchange.com/, you will find a link said "Looking for Exchange Classic?". Clicking it will bring you to http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/index.cfm. You will find usable extensions there.

  • Extension Manager won't See My products?

    Hello,
I am running windows 7 64bit and have the CS5 Master suite. Due to low disk space I installed the suite on an external drive which the computer saw as (I) Later I installed a Card reader and it changed all my drive letters, so now the hard drive is seen as (L). For awhile a was able to use Photoshop or any of the programs until I figured out how to change the path in properties to go to the (L) Drive instead of looking for a non existant (I).
Now I can open the products, but the Extension manager won't see them at all and when I try to install a new purchase or download I get this: http://prntscr.com/spmmq and this is the version I am using http://prntscr.com/spn0a, I do have CS6 as well, but it crashes 2-3 times a day from random things and I have a lot of stuff my photoshop has to load, so it takes almost 1.5 hours to get back up after a crash.. grrr!!!
I tried downloading CS5 Extension manager to reinstall it, but when I did that it was forcing the installation the the non existant drive (I) I couldn't change the path and when I went to unistall the Extension Manager, there was no option for it to be removed??
So the question is... is there a way to have my extension manager find the products on the (L) drive???
    Thank you for any help,

Try by closing Extension Manager and Dreamweaver, rename the Configuration folder to Configuration_backup or similar, restart Extension Manager and try the installation again.
The configuration folder can be found as follows:
    Vista, 7 & 8: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS6\<language>\Configuration
    XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS6\<language>Configuration\

Please advise as this is a known issue for the past year or two and it seems you guys haven't pushed a fix.
I am running on a Mac, thanks.

Please try to run EM as administrator firstly.
    1. Run "/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app".
    2. Input the following command then press "Return" key. Don't miss the double quotation marks.
sudo "/Applications/Adobe Extension Manager CC/Adobe Extension Manager CC.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Extension Manager CC"

If it works, you can try to run EM in normal way.

If it still doesn't work, please generate log files and send it to [email protected]
