External Activities (Service and non service), Primary Cost Activity

Hello All,
1. Need your help to understand the different in External Activity marked as servise and not marked as Service?? In what business scenario we use each of these??
2. Can someone give me an example business scenario where we use Primary cost activity? I understand that Planned cost will be updated as soon as i add value to thr Primary cost element defined, but how will actuals flow for this activity??
Thanks in advance.

External Activity is created for service which is unplanned.
Whereas Service activity is created for Planned Service.These services are plannned already and used repetatively.while creating activtiy services are adopted from the service master same like material master.
You can get know the difference when you create both the activities itself.
Can someone give me an example business scenario where we use Primary cost activity? I understand that Planned cost will be updated as soon as i add value to thr Primary cost element defined, but how will actuals flow for this activity??
General Costs activity are used mostly for Administrative purposes. Example would be travel costs incurred for site visit for Project.
Once you confirm the activities Actual costs are posted.
Thanks,
Nitin

  • Resetting User Password by calling an external Web Service

    Hi,<br>
    <p>
    We have an external Web Service, which handles Active Directory related activities.  We would like to use this service to help users reset their passwords.  We created a Portal Service from the external Web Service's WSDL.  We have exposed the methods we require from this Web Service and are able to call these methods by creating Abstract Portal Components.  We are currently testing the exposed methods via the Portal Component Starter and Viewer.
    </p><p>
    The current logon.par has a ResetPasswordPage.  The corresponding form within the JSP is submitting data to the following string:
    <br>
    <i>inPortal?proxy.getAlias("RPWFS"):logonBean.getLogonURL(proxy, null)</i>
    <br>
    <p>
    From what I can understand, the proper action URL will be returned by the method getAlias("RPWFS").  However, I am unable to find the definition of "RPWFS" in the PAR file.
    </p>
    <b>Questions:</b><br>
    <li>
    What does "RPWFS" stand for?  Where is this defined?
    </li><li>
    Would it be possible to modify the ResetPassword JSP file in the logon.par so that upon data submission, the Portal Service is called?
    </li><li>
    Where can I find documentation on JSPDynPage and DynPage (and how to create and edit the above-mentioned items)?
    </li><li>
    Is there any documentation on the functions used in the logon.par?  For example, what is IAccessToLogic?  Where is this defined?  What does it do?  Is there a library where we can search for information on this kind of stuff (like MSDN for Microsoft and API docs at java.sun.com)?
    </li>

  • Creation of Primary Cost Elements at FI area

    Masters/Experts,
    When i am trying to creat PCEs at FI area using Tcode-FS00, i am not getting a new screen after punching the EDIT COST ELEMENT pushbutton, infact i am getting the message "EDIT COST ELEMENT IS ONLY POSSIBLE FOR PL ACCOUNTS".
    I can see the Radio button is on the P&L account statement and not on the balance sheet radio button.
    Points will be awarded for the expertise.

    Hi maria,
    While creating or changing the G/L a/c by FS00, click the P/L acct radio button.Also mention the P/L acct statement type.If it is to be maintained in Retained Earnings, u can check 'X' (usually).after the account is created u can go by "edit cost Element" or by TCode KA01 and create the Primary Cost Element.
    Please let me know if u r still facing the problems.
    Please reward points if you find this to be useful.

  • OKTZ what is "primary cost element split" flag use for?

    Hello all:
    anybody can elaborate the sample for this?
    Best Regards,
    Manthana

    Hi
    Primary cost component split in config for cost component structures drive the segreration and storage of primary cost into different buckets like material cost, labour cost.
    The main purpose of which is to track the Primary Cost at Cost Component level (when multiple cost elements have been planned against a single Activity Type).

  • Consuming an External Web Service using HTTPS and WS Security

    Hello everyone,
    I'm having a problem setting the security information in a SOAP header using a generated ABAP Client Proxy to consume an external web service that requires a User ID and Password in the Header section of the SOAP message.  I need to use HTTPS. I'm on a WAS 7.01 SP08 system so from my readings, SAP is supposed to be able to add the username and password into the header section of the message.  I can't seem to get SAP to add this information added to the header.
    Here are the steps that I have taken to set the security values.
    1) Created the client proxy from the WSDL in SE80.  Basic Authentication on the Configuration tab was turned on automatically.
           Note, Transport Security is set to None.  I cannot change it.
    2) Created an outbound set user name profile in transaction WSPROFILE with the appropriate username and password.
    3) Added the profile to the default port in transaction LPCONFIG as an outbound under the WS Security section of the screen.
    When I called the external Web Service, I got back the following error message:
    com.ibm.wsspi.wssecurity.SoapSecurityException: WSEC5509E: A security token whose type is [http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-username-token-profile-1.0#UsernameToken] is required.
    So, after reading through this Forum, I saw that I needed to use the SOAMANAGER.  I set up a Proxy in the SOAMANAGER and manually created the Logical Port.  This was the only way I could figure out how to set the Authentication Settings in the Logical Port to "User ID / Password".  I then entered the User ID and Password.
    However, I am still getting the same error message.  I feel I am close but missing some small configuration to tell SAP to use WS Security with a Username token.
    I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, so any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Stephen

    I had this error again so I thought I would post my solution:
    The issue is SAP needs to know the certificates being used by the web site being called.  These certificates are automatically installed in your browser but need to be manually installed in SAP.  This is what I did:
    How to find/install new certificates
    Make sure you run Internet Explorer as an Administrator so you can export the certificates
    Go to the web site that SAP is trying to call in Internet Explorer
    Double click on the lock in the address bar
    View certificates
    Find the certificates that are being used
    Tools --> Internet Options --> Content --> Certificates
    Click on the “Trusted Root Certification Authorities” tab
    Find the certificate identified in step iii
    Export as a CER certificate
    Click on the “Intermediate Certification Authorities” tab
    Find the certificate identified in step iii
    Export as a CER certificate
    Go to STRUST in SAP
    Import the Certificates in the “Anonymous” or “Standard” SSL client
    Save
    RESTART the ICM via t-code SMICM  <-- Critical!!!

  • Accessing external web service with non-constant URL

    Hello, all
    I am looking in the documentation on accessing external web services, but either I am looking in the wrong place, or the documentatoin is lacking info.
    My clients have several web services in the local network (regular services, not DB-based), the have the same interface, but different URL's.
    Versions of the DB are 11, 12, and 16.
    First of all, I do not see in the specs an option for a non-hardcoded URL. The logic says that this has to be possible, but I cannot find it.
    Second, I need to see an example of accessing an XML or JSon based service, I cannot find it in the specs either.
    Can anyone point me to a document with examples?
    Thank you
    Arcady

    The following will call a web service with whatever URL you pass in as the argument "myurl".  I think that is what you are looking for.
    CREATE PROCEDURE cli_test2( myurl LONG VARCHAR )
    RESULT( httpheaders long varchar, httpvalues long varchars
    URL '!myurl'
    To deal with the resulting data in XML, use the OPENXML() function.
    eg. To turn an XML list of employees that looks like this:
    <root>
    <row EmployeeID="102" Surname="Whitney" GivenName="Fran" StartDate="1984-08-28"/>
    </root>
    into a table of results, you would do this (where xmlgetemplist() is the web service call):
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE xmlgetemplist() RESULT( httpheader long varchar, httpbody long varchar)
    URL 'http://localhost/demo/xmlEmployeeList'
    TYPE 'HTTP:GET';
    create variable res long varchar;
    -- call the web service
    select httpbody into res from xmlgetemplist() where httpheader = 'Body'
    -- extract the XML elements into a SQL result set
    select * from openXML( res, '/root/row' ) WITH ( EmployeeID INT '@EmployeeID',
           GivenName    CHAR(20) '@GivenName',
           Surname      CHAR(20) '@Surname',
           PhoneNumber  CHAR(10) '@Phone');
    To deal with the resulting data in JSON, use the sp_parse_json() procedure.
    eg.
    To turn a JSON formatted list of employees that looks like this:
    "EmployeeID": 102,
    "Surname": "Whitney",
    "GivenName": "Fran",
    "StartDate": "1984-08-28",
    "TerminationDate": null
    into a table of results, you would do this (where jsongetemplist() is the web service call):
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE jsongetemplist() RESULT( httpheader long varchar, httpbody long varchar)
    URL 'http://localhost/demo/jsonEmployeeList'
    TYPE 'HTTP:GET';
    create variable foo long varchar;
    --call the webservice
    select httpbody into foo from jsongetemplist() where httpheader = 'Body';
    --turn the json result into a structured array of data
    -- this step is required because of less structured nature of JSON
    call sp_parse_json( 'output_array', foo);
    --extract the JSON elements from the output array into a SQL result set
    SELECT  output_array[[row_num]].EmployeeID as EmployeeID,
                   output_array[[row_num]].SurName as SurName,
                   output_array[[row_num]].GivenName as GivenName,
                   output_array[[row_num]].StartDate as StartDate,
                   output_array[[row_num]].TerminationDate as EndDate
    FROM sa_rowgenerator(1, CARDINALITY(output_array))
    Hope this helps,
    --Jason

  • Capturing cost of external & internal services

    Hello
         Can I be guided regarding configuration for cost capturing for external & internal services. Is this same as we are doing for break down orders by maintaining cost variants and valuation variants. Please advise.
    Thanks

    In case of External Service, PM03 control key will be used. In that configuration, service check box would have been selected. Further to that, service masters for the services will be created. Those services will be assigned in Maintenance order.
    In turn, PR will be created for those services with reference to Maintenance order, further PO will be created.
    While creating Service entry sheet for the above PO, cost will be posted to Maintenance Order as PO & Service entry sheet are linked to Maintenance order.
    In case of internal services, Activity types will be created & will be assigned to labor work center. In KP26, activity pricing will be maintained. Based on planned hours in maintenance order & actual hours in confirmation, planned cost & actual cost will be calculated.
    As you know, costing variant will be defined for Internal & external processing, cost will be calculated based on that.
    Also these costing variants should be assigned to Plant & order type combination.

  • OWSM 10.1.3.4 and Non-SOAP XML-based web service

    Hi all,
    According to the OWSM 10.1.3.4 Administrator's Guide, "all Web services registered with an Oracle WSM Gateway are virtualized as both a SOAP and non-SOAP Web service." To access the non-SOAP (XML-only) web service, the documentation states "The non-SOAP virtualized URL can be determined from the virtualized SOAP URL by replacing the services keyword in the URL with the xml keyword."
    For example, if the SOAP virtualized endpoint is:
    http://host:port/gateway/services/SID0003001
    then, the non-SOAP XML service endpoint is:
    http://host:port/gateway/xml/SID0003001
    I have several web services registered with an OWSM gateway, running on SOA Suite 10.1.3.4, and can access those without any problem. However, when I attempt to access the "/gateway/xml" version of these services, I simply get an HTTP 200 response header with a null body.
    Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this or what the secret is to get the non-SOAP XML service feature of OWSM to work?
    Thanks!

  • Great, patient customer service this evening. No complaints - except, I requested a transcript of our chat and none was sent (yet). How do I follow up on that.

    I requested a transcript of my chat with a CSR this evening...She was great, patient and helpful - but has yet to forward the transcript!! How do I follow up and get the transcript.
    In the conversation, I requested that we lower our $122/mo bill, since we have 1 smartphone (with 2Gig) and 1 dumb phone with no data and only 1000 minutes of talk and 1000 shared text messages. I stated that my Hubby has unlimited everything for $25/Mo. She offered 250 Meg and same minutes/text for $65. I did not say anything - but I was insulted at the excessive cost of a dumb phone (with 7 months left in contract) and almost no data for an old smart phone (not in contract). Does ANYONE else charge that much?

    Hello there acraftlady..... congrats on your personal plan. Even though you are paying double what I am paying for the same service, I suspect that you are still happy and can afford the cost. That is a great savings over Vzn - but no where near the best that you can do! If you have a contract for your services....PLEASE read no further.
    If you copy and paste http://www.discountfanatics.com/cheapest-cell-phone-plans.html  into your web page, you will find MY service provider (rated #1, by the way) along with 5 or 6 others.
    Please note, if you DO not have access to wi-fi, then these plans are a bit less desirable - but still about half of what you are currently paying.
    I used to have about 80% coverage with Vzn in my home...I now have 100% with my new provider.
    I used to NOT have data with Vzn cause it was too expensive...I now have unlimited data - EVERYWHERE I travel.
    To compliment my provider, I have yet to pay the full $25 per month - because I get a $20 credit everytime a person whom I referred to my provider signs up...BOTH get a $20 dollar credit.  In otherwords, I have been paying (for 3 months now), $5 per month for unlimited everything on my MotoG (#1 or 2 rated smart phone).
    Just wanted to share that you have done great!! and you can do better!!
    Your son and hubby can do $10 per month each for unlimited everything (data via wi-fi only).
    Congrats on your progress - and looking forward to you doing even better!

  • Front End internal and external web services

    Hi all,
    Can someone explain the purpose of internal and external web services URL in front end server. what does it do and what is it used for? and why the external traffic goes directly to it and not through reverse proxy?
    Thanks,

    They're for multiple purposes.  Address books, autodiscovery, meeting urls, mobile clients, etc.  There are two because they respond slightly differently based on whether the client is internal or external.  External traffic should always reach
    it through a reverse proxy, that reverse proxy should proxy traffic received on port 443 to port 4443 on your front end pool.

  • External Web Service - User and password in HTTP header

    Hi!
    How is it possible to add user and password in the HTTP header in a external web service call?
    I have created a "Portal Service from WSDL file - Client side" with the wizard in SAP Developer Studio.  I following the Java Development Guide - Web Service Security, and use the <i>secured service connection</i>.  I have also created a new <i>System Landscape</i>, but should the new system be based on HTTP, my own PAR or what?
    How can I check that the user and password is added to the HTTP header or the SOAP envelope? Do I have to scan http traffic with a proxy as Paros or can I find the request sent from SAP EP in the logs?
    Cheers
    Asle

    Hello All,
    I have been struggling a bit while putting a reasonable security framework on a jax-rpc style web service. I'm using JWSDP1.2 to set up the webservice. I've tried to outline my problem below. Please correct me where I'm wrong.
    I've been through the Sun's WS tutorials, but they are not really clear on security. However, from them I surmised that there are two decent authentication techniques. HTTP Basic and mutual authentication (MA) . Both have their drawbacks though. HTTP Basic suffers from poor encryption while MA is a bit difficult to set up on both client and server sides. Another problem with MA is that there is no central repository for users/passwords.
    OK, what I would really like to do is use my own user database to verify users/passwords i.e. use a HTTP Basic like authentication (but at application level) but run it over SSL for encryption. It seems simple, but is it possible?
    Also, I have noted that when I use HTTP Basic on the service side, and use a java client, then setting username/password has no effect. In other words, I can always access the web-service, even with wrong username/password.
    Sorry for the long post. Hope someone can help. Thanks.

  • JAX-RPC And Non-Java Web Service

    Hi,
    This is a total shot in the dark. I'm attempting to consume an RPC web service developed in Delphi. I've created a JAX-RPC client in NetBeans from the published WSDL, attached below. I've created calls to several of the procedures available. What's bizarre, at least to me, is that half of them work fine and half of them don't. In all cases where they don't I'm getting a returns SOAP envelope indicated an access violation, attached below. There are no errors in any of the server logs and the developer assures me that the procedures do, in fact, work from his client (also developed conveniently enough in Delphi).
    I'm willing to take him at face value for the moment and assume that the problem is in my client implementation, although I have no idea where it would lie. The only difference I've been able to gather between the features which work and those that don't is the size of the return package...it would most likely be much larger than the ones that don't work.
    The service is an ISAPI dll running under IIS on Windows Server 2003. Any clues or guidance anyone would be willing to provide would be most welcome. On to the files:
    There wasn't enough room to post the entire thing so I've included one working (CheckStock) and non-working (GetLibTrace) function.

    Correction from above...".it would most likely be much larger than the ones that don't work" should have been "it would most likely be much larger IN THE ONES THAT DON'T WORK". Sorry.

  • Service PO's with tax and Non servie pos without tax

    Hi,
    In my present process.For service (ME21N)PO'S withholdingtax is calculated and for non service PO's there is no withholdingtax  calculated.
    In standard sap PO's.Tax will be calculated for both service POS and non service PO's.
    Can any guide me where the coding is done by which the system is calculating tax on service pos and no tax calculated on material pos.
    It will be great help.if you can through some light.
    Thanks
    Hagi

    Hi,
    With respect to WHT, vendors can be classified into three categories
    1) Service Vendors (subject to WHT)
    2) Material Vendors (not subject to WHT)
    3) Mixed vendors (WHT is applicable on services only)
    Identifying the type of vendor needs the data from business only.  There is no specific indication in SAP.  In case of 1 & 2 type vendors there is no problem.  Problem with type 3 vendors.  Since WHT keys are updated at vendor level, during IV system withhelds the tax amount on entire invoice which is wrong since materials may also be there in that invoice.  For this there is no standard solution by SAP.
    We need to further identify vendors based on supplies with both services and materials. If the % of services & materials combination is more, it is better to create two seperate vendors for the same vendor, one as service vendor and another as material vendor and ask the vendor to give seperate invoices for services and materials.  If it is very less %, while posting invoices just change the base amount against the WHT keys.  This is the practice we implemented for our client.

    Hi Nikhilesh,
                  Thank you very much for your response
               My actual Problem is to Associate both Billable and Non-Billable Items in Service Order. I would like to have Items which are billable and Items which are non-billable in Service Order.
    May I know How do I do that
    Thanks & regards

  • MDB receive a message and then call an external web service

    Title basically says it all, but I'm looking for suggestions for the best way to have a message driven bean receive a message then process it and call an external web service with the results. This seems like a straightforward problem to solve but I keep getting stuck in the deployment to weblogic when I do it my way so I'm looking for new ideas.
    Basically, I have an MDB that gets deployed to WL 10.3 and receives messages just fine. Also, I have a standalone class, that runs from the command line or IDE, that can send messages to the external web service. But when I try to bring the code from the standalone class into the MDB and get it deployed, I can't get all the dependencies to resolve.
    So, is there a proper (quick and easy) way to do this? Which wizard should I be using to get Workshop to create web service client so that I can use it in my MDB project? Any suggestions to tutorials?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Yes BusinessService is the reference point used in OSB to call a backend provider service. So we need to configure the business service based on the external service (they can be http based, jms based, etc ..)
    In your case I am assuming it is a http based web service. So below are the steps to be done:
    1. Create a business service (if you dont have a wsdl then create it as "Any soap type" else upload the wsdl as a wsdl resource and then use it) and configure the url of the business service with the URL of the external service you want to invoke.
    2. From the proxy flow, have a service callout action and select the business service. Then configure the appropriate body and header variables.
    3. Then test the proxy service from the test console, you should be able to see the response from the external service as a part of the service callout response.
    Let me know if you still have issues.
    Thanks,
    Patrick
