Just like YahooABSPlugin, trying to create an external ABSPlug-In,which would fetch the contacts.
Before that process ,i am planning to do a small example ;a sample ABSPlugin with 5 contacts. It would hep me to understand overall function.
Please let me know any reference documents to develop the same.

Please let me know any reference documents to develop the same.To my knowledge, the only reference documentation is the sample js/html files provided with Convergence. I am contacting the author of the example to see whether there is source-code etc. for the proxy component.

  • External System Address Book Import

Does anyone know of a way to import an external address book into the Groupwise system address book? I can place the data in any format (CSV, NAB, etc.).
I have followed Tid 3230787 and setup the external post Office and it works fine.
Unfortunately there is no way to automate the import of a large group of users into that specific external domain/"system address book".
Does anyone know of a tool or add-on for console One to achieve this?

  • Importing Windows Outlook Express address book

    Hello
I have been trying to import an Outlook Express address book (which is stored on a DVD) to MS Entourage with not much luck
I can't seem to find an 'option' to import an external address book.
The only options available seem to be to import Entourage docs/archives etc.
    Can anyone help?

I've been looking into this myself and there are a number of possibilities. You can't just import an address book but importing all your contacts can be done. Search discussions here for the topic (the Mail and Address Book forum has stuff on getting contacts out of Outlook) and also Google the web, there are several threads elsewhere. There are even shareware utilities to help.
Also look under Mac 101: Shifting From PC in the Support section here. Apple has a little bit to say on it, although not terribly helpful to me.

  • Contacts missing on phone, intact in Address Book.

I recently bought a new Macbook Pro and did a "data transfer" with the setup assistant from the older 4 year old Macbook to the new one. Everything appears to be fine and identical to the old computer -- until my first iPhone sync.
Everything is syncing fine, except my contacts. My 300+ contacts are now missing from my phone (except for 4 entries). They all still exist in the Address Book. All other iPhone syncing is working fine. I do not use any external address book sources (MobileMe, Google, etc).
    I have tried:
    - repeated syncs, enabling and disabling Address Book sync
    - soft reset on iPhone
I am at wits end about this - a phone without contacts is not useful!
    For reference:
    OS 10.6.3
    iPhone 3GS 3.1.3
    iTunes 9.1

Bingo! That appears to have fixed it.
I would not have thought to go into iSync, given that the iPhone is not listed as a device there. This should be an option within iTunes somewhere as well.

  • I'm attempting to transfer files, address book, etc from an external hard drive to my new Mac-mini using migration assistant.  The external drive is showing up on my desktop but Migration Assistant is not seeing the drive when searching for devices

I'm attempting to migrate files, address book, maile, etc to my new Mac Mini using an external hard drive and Migration assistant.  I followed the instructions on using Migration Assistant to do this but Migration Assistant is not seeing the external drive, which is displayed on my desktop

I've been chasing this problem all afternoon. I had to reformat my internal drive on my MBP and reinstall Mountain Lion   Start up assistant wouldn't see my extrnal drive with the Time Machine files on it.  After many tries, I skipped the restore there and let the system boot.  I could see my external drive from Finder and the files looked OK.  I was told to use Migration Assistant and it had the same problem.
I saw a hint on one of these posts that the icon that you see and is label Macintosh HD is actually your backup disk and it is telling you that it has a copy of your internal Macintosh HD.  I went ahead and told it to continue and it started to restore my apps, settings, and documents.  It's been going for a couple of hours, and is close to being done.  I expect to see my old system restored when it is finished.
Wish that Apple would put some type of note that it is seeing the backup. That is most confusing and seems to be a problem for lots of users.
It's been a month or so since your post  Did your get it to work?

  • Can I add external Internet users to my Global Address Book?

We have a semi permanent relationship with another company. We have Groupwise 7.02hp1a and they use Exchange 2007 or 2010(not sure which). They have added many of my people's Internet Addresses they normally deal with here into their Global Address Book(whatever they call it in Exchange). I would like to add in the Internet address of thirty or so of their people into our Global address list for a couple of reasons.
    1. My people have Blackberries and they could just type in Bob Smith, do a lookup and send to him. Similarly it would be there on their desktop address list as well.
    2. I could include them in system-wide email distribution lists where applicable.
    3. In the event someone quits, is terminated or swaps jobs, I could make one global change.
I thought maybe adding a new external entity instead of user, but while that shows up in our addr. list, I can't point it to an internet account. Licensing cost is not a problem so I tried giving one of them a full mailbox at my place and then have a rule fwd all to the outside addr. but it looks sloppy and it is hard to hold conversations because the fwd mailbox is in the sender spot rather than the original sender so reply doesn't work. They have done this on their exchange system so I imagine there is a way on ours as well. Thanks for any help you can give.

Create an external domain and post office in which you add these users.
The'll just appear in your global address book.

  • What is the best way to backup Address Book to external HD?

    Hello there
I would like to backup my Address Book on an external HD. How do I go about doing and what's the best way to doing it?
I have a vague idea but not sure if it's the correct folder to drag to the external HD. I went to ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book. My question is this: Is that Address Book folder the correct one to drag to the external HD? Am I missing other important folders to drag along to the external HD in order for both the Address Book folders to be the same in my internal and external HD?
    Thanks in advance!!

It would copy the information into a single file... The same as if you wanted to share your contacts with someone else-you could email the vCard to them, they would import it and have the all the same contact information imported into their address book.
For your own use, it's pretty much the same and works through the File>Import>vCards option in AddressBook.

  • Lync 2013 - Address Book Synchronization Issues for External Users

I recently deployed Lync Server 2013 in my organization. Everything works fine except for the address book synchronizing issues and the mobility access. I would really appreciate if someone could share their knowledge as I have done lot of troubleshooting,
not sure if I have missed something. Please note my setup below for the External Web Services.
    Lync Front End:
    Listening: 8080 4443
    Published: 80 443
I have published my External Web Services URL and the following ports are open: 4443, 443, 8080
When I look at the Lync Client Configuration, ABS Server External URL is pointing to https://lyncexternalweb.domain.com:443/abs/handler. However, GAL Status is still pointing to my internal Front End FQDN: https://internal.domain.com:443/abs/handler.
For machines that are joined to the domain, the address books synchronizes with no issues. For machines that are not joined to the domain and for external users, GALContacts and GALContacts.DB files are not event generated for the users profiles.

    Hi Anthony,
    Please note the findings below:
    1. I was checking the Lync Client configuration on one of the PC that is not joined to the domain, still on the domain network via site to site VPN connection. I noticed that the Connected Lync Server varies: sipinternal.domain.com, sipexternal.domain.com,
lync.domain.com (Pointing to the Edge Server IP).
    2. Edge Server External Settings: Single IP address with the FQDN set to lync.domain.com for all 3 services and the following ports configured. Access Edge Service: 5061, Web Conferencing Edge Service: 444, A/V Edge Service: 443 with NAT enabled public
IPv4 address. I have checked the replication status between the Front End and Edge Server, it is up to date.
    3. In regard to the https://lyncdiscover.domain.com, I don't have the lyncdiscover.domain.com published, but it is pointing to the NAT enabled public IPv4 address which is assigned for A/V Edge Services.
    4. For the port forwarding, I am using the Cisco Meraki router.
Please advise if there are there is something that I am missing.
    Thanks!

  • Company's Address Book for external contacts

    Hi all,
I'm currently deploying a new Exchange 2013 in a company who had a different email system, so far.
One of the achievement would be to have an address book for external names (so, not in AD) shared within the company but managed only by a restrict number of people.
As example, list of vendors contact. The list should be available read only for everyone, but only the IT Infrastructure and few other people in the management should be able to add/remove/change the items.
Whato would be, in your opinion, the best solution to achieve that?
I was thinking using Public Folder. Create a sub-PF of contact objects and restrict permission accordingly. The only issue I can see, so far, is that seems not possible grant permission on a group basis to PF. Am I missing something here? It's the first
time I'm working with PF in several years :)
However, if there's a different solution you may advice, I'm all ears.
Any suggestion would be highly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance to everyone.
    Alessandro.

I was able to solve this myself.
Security groups has to be enabled on Exchange before being used to assign permission to PFs:
    Enable-DistributionGroup -identity <SecurityGroup>
    Add-PublicFolderClientPermission -User "<SecurityGroup>" -AccessRights
    '<AccessLevel>'
    Hope this helps someone.
    A.

  • Can I copy my contact/address book to an external drive in case of a computer breakdown

I want to make a backup of my contact/address book to an external drive in case my computer gets hacked or power surge. I've gone through the power surge once and lost everything.

Open the Address book window, select an address book folder and then Tools-Export, name the file, select the file type and the save location.

  • How to import metadata from Address Book on external hard drive to new laptop running OSX 10.8.3?

My old MacBook died a painful death.  I retrieved the hard drive and have it in a portable enclosure that has a USB connection.  I can see the old Address Book on it, but when I transfered the Address Book application to my new MacBook Pro running OSX 10.8.3, the application will transfer, but it won't open because it is not supported on the newer MacBook.  I searched around the old hard drive for any files that could be related to the Address Book contact data.  I found metadata files for each of my contacts.  I can get the metadata to transfer to the new MacBook, but I can't seem to do anything with it.
I tried using Migration Assistant, doing it manually, trying to import the metadata using "import" feature on the new version of Address Book.  Can't seem to find anything that works.
Any suggestions?  Thank you in advance.

If you open a contacts database from an earlier version of OS X, the data should be imported automatically. Is that what you tried to do?

  • Suddendly (no external shock) Thunderbird stopped finding the address book, but it finds the right addresses when sending a mail with a name existing in the Boo

The phrase is all what happens. If ask for the address of, say, Joe (existing in the book), it gives nothing. If I write an e-mail message to Joe, Thunderbird inserts the correct address to Joe, and if I send it, it goes correctly. The Address book looks "strange" its content (nearly empty) does not correspond to what it was. I am working in Linux Mint 17.1 with great satisfaction fo the rest.
    Thanks for helping. Giancarlo.

    Thanks for answering,
however I miss what to send you: The address book is missing most of my contacts (they were there, before), but if I send a mail to one of those missing contacts Thunderbird attach the correct address without my intervention: funny. Mau be a virus did that, bu how can I recover the missing address book (hidden somewhere, certainly). I cannot show in a screen copy the facts I describe here. Anyway I enclose the screenshot of the opening of the actual address book. Please ask me any useful question on the above.
    Again thank and greetings,
    giancarlo.

  • My MacBook Pro was erased and back up on external drive was reloaded.  How do I reload my address book and bookmarks?

When my MacBook Pro was erased and reloaded, my address book, stickies and bookmarks on all my browsers were gone!  How can I re-load the old contents.  I've looked at all the back-ups.  I find the applications, but not the contents.

    You had two choices:
1- you save the files from your user library
2- use icloud which would put them back
    You used neither is seems.
