External audio controllers that work with FCP

Is FCP cabable of working with external audio control interfaces such as the kind that work with Logic?
If so, any recommendations on which ones work well?

take a look at the Mackie MCU (control surface only) or the Tascam FW1082 (control surface/mixer hybrid)
... or any product that support the Mackie Control protocol or Logic Control should work.

Mics and audio interfaces that work with Camera Connector

FYI: After playing with the Camera Connector I have been able to connect USB recording gear for use with MultiTrack DAW app on the iPad. The Blue Yeti, Samson's GTrack and Roland's Cakewalk Audio Interface all work for inputting audio. All three have internal headphone jacks which work for monitoring both the input and multitrack recordings.
One caveat with the Yeti: it appears to be almost at the limit of the power that the iPad's USB Camera Connnector can supply. Some headphones and earbuds shut down the mic. Sennheiser HD280 phones work fine, but some of the Sennheiser buds don't.

It has been reported before that a lot of USB audio devices (e.g., headsets, microphones). As an example see:

I see a lot of options in the $25 to $50 range from the likes of Samsung, Buffalo, LG, etc..
But I need one that is compatible with my late-2012 Mini running Mavericks.

Any external disc drive will work. I would recommend you to get one that works over USB or FireWire, so you won't have any compatibility issue

Any suggestions for a good inexpensive audio interface? Fast Track is awful.... Something about 250 or under?

LAPTOP VAIO SVT15112CSX audio drivers that work with windows 10

Upgraded to Windows 10 (7/31/2015) VAIO SVT15112CSX but the audio (sound qaulity) was horrible. After some trying I found that installing the Windows 8.0 audio drivers from the Sony Support area for the latop made the sound work great again. I installed the patch (1) then rebooted. After that installed the audio driver (2) (not sure if you have todo it that way, but it worked for me). I believe the right model name of your unit is SVT15112CXS and not SVT15112CSX. Based on eSupport website, the drivers and software for Windows 10 will be released on November 2015. Those drivers are specifically made for Windows 8, but I am glad that it works well with Windows 10. You may stick with these and wait for the updated drivers once released and install on your laptop.

Well, whichever it is I strongly insist that Creative starts working on Macintosh drivers and that Apple makes Creative products available for their computers. It is really not fair that only PC notebooks have the best audio available, if I could I would buy another external card for my PowerBook, but unfortunetly there are none in my country that are Mac compatible. Most people don't care about the sound on their laptop, but I do and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
So please, anyone... out there...

I just tried this, no luck...
I connected a different USB cable, still the same problem. Tried both cables with the problematic hard drive on two different computers, still the same problem.
At this point I assume I'll probably need professional help in saving the files, thanks for the assistance.

While theoretically possible, sometimes the camera people disable recording back to tape from the computer due to DRM (digital rights managment) issues. They will allow tape to tape transfers however.
Test your process first is all I can advise.

When I was in Chicago I had a pro photographer for a client. She wound up with 4 internal drives in her Pro, 4 external drives and an dual array locked in a steel vault in the basement. All from OWC. OK she was a bit paranoid. Great client though.

So sudden power loss is an issue with SSDs.
Personally I'd go with a moderate sized SSD internally and a conventional external for backup. An array would be the most reliable.

Routers that work with iChat AV?

Since Apple's list of approved routers hasn't been updated for years, I would love to hear from anyone who has purchased a router recently that works with iChat for audio/video, including any special setting changes/tips. Could anyone with a success story post here? I'm tired of the error 8 messages which in at least some cases seems to be router related.

I have used the DI-604 for about 5 years now. It is a great and cheap router/firewall. The only problem that I have ever had was an odd one. I have a mac pro. i have an external amp that I use for playing my music through. I had a cable run from the rear audio out to the amp. After the last firmware update (mac pro EFI firmware update 1.1) I could not use ichat anymore. If I bypassed the router and went straight to the modem then all was fine. It turned out that there was a major conflict with my setup using the router and rear audio out port but if i used the front headphone jack everything was fine. Other than that the DI-604 is very good. I open port 5190 on the router and have good results. If you are not sure how to open up ports then check out this site. It shows to open up a whole pile of ports but the 5190 port works fine for me.

Focusrite Saffire interface not working with FCP 4?

I can't seem to get my focusrite saffire audio interface to work properly with FCP? It works fine with all other apps (itunes, QT, Logic etc) and all the other Studio apps (Motion, DVD Pro and Soundtrack Pro) - but in Final Cut the sound is 'distorted' and 'jumpy'? All focusrite and FCP software is upto date.
Has anybody else had this sort of problem? Is anybody happily using the saffire with fcp? (I can't seem to find any on the search!)

I am actually only using it to play back audio 'syncd' with picture straight off camera or importing clips from quicktime/DVD's etc. in FCP - it is this that I can't hear correctly? (all the clips are fine by the way played in other aps etc)
Yes, editing is done in Soundtrack Pro or Logic Pro (used to have pro-tools mbox - but decided to ditch it and go down the Logic route with another interface!) - but I expect to be able to hear basic audio with picture in FCP?

Would any one out there be able to recomend a reasonably priced video capture device that works with FCE other than a video camera? I want to input video and audio from VHS and DVD. I also want to input Audio from cassette and CD.

I am in a similar situation. All I can say is that the ADS Pyro AV Link works well with iMovie but not with Final Cut Express or Pro so I returned it.
I am waiting for a DataVideo DAC 100, Their web site gives specific instructions as how to use the DAC with FCP so I am hopefull that it will work with FCE.

Configure Macbook Pro with one hard drive to work with FCP

I would like to do some video editing while on the road. I have a new Macbook Pro with Final Cut installed. I know that the capture scratch should not be on the same hard drive as the application. How do I set up the computer to work with FCP when I have only one hard drive. I do have external hard drives to use when editing at home but I would like to edit while traveling in the car or on a plane.

If you don't have an external drive attached, FCP will default to the system drive. The CAPTURE SCRATCH folder will be located in the DOCUMENTS>FCP DOCUMENTS folder. You CAN edit on the system drive, but performance might suffer and you might get dropped frames. DV, OFFLINE RT are fine, HDV and other formats might give you headaches. I have edited DV and OFFLINE RT HD on my laptop's hard drive on a plane without much problem.
Get a bus powered hard drive like the G-Raid Mini. This way you only need one power source.
