Shared Services External Authentication using LDAP in 9.3.1
Hi,
I have installed Hyperion Shared Services with native directory. And now planning to setup external authentication using LDAP. I need some guidance to understanding how the external authentication works.
Questions:
1. Is it possible to setup Shared Services to use both Native and LDAP user directory? What I mean is some users will be able to login using Native directory, and some others will need to login using User Directory (external authentication).
2. For User Directory (say we use LDAP), when the user is added into Shared Services, can they be assigned with Groups created in Native directory? We want to explore to use just the external authentication and define all of the groups within shared services.
If not possible, can we manage the Groups of the User directory using shared services? How is the groups work with external authentication?
Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
LianHi,
Yes you can use both Native and external authentication. When you add the external provider the native is left by defaut anyway.
Yes you can add your external users to native groups. You can also provision the groups in the AD if you wish.

Ise Authentication to two different forests second using External Radius, Not LDAP
Hi Guys,
I am hoping someone can help me. We currently have two AD forests one for staff and one for students. These forests do not have a two way trust between them nor do we want to. We currently have Ise 1.2 integration with our Student forest using AD working just fine. The ipads and other devices are playing nicely and cooperating well. We want to get our staff to be able to use ISE as well. Currently there is no way to use two AD forests so I was directed to use LDAP instead for the second domain. Unfortunatley after playing around with it LDAP doesn't support mschapv2 which our mobile devices like ipads do play nicely with. This causes an issue only because we would have to utilize certificates to get everything to work correctly. This is not the route we want to go. So i was speaking to Tac and they recommended using an External Radius server. Then modify my auth profiles to look for the domain name in the authentication string. If it starts for example student\ then i can have ise forward the auth request to the AD integrated PSNs for auth. If the auth string starts with staff\ for example i should be able to forward this request to my external radius server.
This sounds all good in theory but i have not found any documentation to support this to help me configure it. Has anyone tried this approach? Or have any leads on where i can find some good documentation as to what radius servers are supported. I am hoping Windows server 2008 R2 with a radius role installed, but i am just not sure.
If anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you
JoeyThat is correct! Cisco ISE supports integration with a single Active Directory identity source. Cisco ISE uses this Active Directory identity source to join itself to an Active Directory domain. If this Active Directory source has a multidomain forest, trust relationships must exist between its domain and the other domains in order for Cisco ISE to retrieve information from all domains within the forest.
However, you may create multiple instances for LDAP. Cisco ISE can communicate via LDAP to Active Directory servers in an untrusted domain. The only limitation you would see with LDAP being a database that it doesn't support PEAP MSCHAPv2 ( native microsoft supplicant). However it does suppport EAP-TLS.
For more information you may go through the below listed link

Java ftp server which can use LDAP, how to integrate with WLS' implementation of LDAP?
Howdy.
I'm setting up a java ftp server
(http://www.mycgiserver.com/~ranab/ftp/index.html) which is capable of using
LDAP for it's user security. I would like to integrate this ftp server with
wls' implementation of LDAP so I only have to admin one user list.
Does wls put it's user list in the LDAP or in it's own proprietary setup? I
tried playing around with it, but the users don't seem to appear in the JNDI
tree. Is this where the LDAP stuff is located? I thought it was in there?
If it's in it's own setup, is there a way to propagate the users to LDAP?
If these look like newbie Q&A, I guess they kind of are, I'm new to LDAP.
Thanks for any input you might have.Peter,
If you are talking about using the embedded LDAP server in WLS 7.0 for this purpose
I think you are going done the wrong path.
Look at the following URL on how to use an external LDAP server for your custom
application

Connecting to PAPI Process Service when using LDAP
We have Oracle BPM 10.3 set up with using LDAP as the directory for participants. In order to connect to the PAPI process service we want to use a system id that is a non user but set up in LDAP. How do we do this? Is there any special role or security group needed for this user, i.e. does it need Process Admin user privileges?
HI
Yes, this definitely will need a password, which is the same as the password you will use to log into the system (BPM Workspace or the external application that makes PAPI calls).
The way we have implemented this is: We have an external J2EE application (app A) that makes use of the papi calls, deployed on weblogic. The BPM engine is also deployed on the same weblogic domain. THe BPM application can then be configured to be used in the Single Sign On mode and deployed. In such a scenario when the user types in the url for the BPM workspace, the login page for app A will be shown.
THe LDAP that you use to configure the BPM directory, can also be used to create a security provider in the security realm of the weblogic (using weblogic console). THis will ensure that any application (in this case app A) deployed on weblogic will use this users/groups from this LDAP for authentication purposes. This completes the setup, so we have app A and BPM application both authenticating against the same LDAP and BPM application is configured in SSO mode.
When the user comes to the login page of appA, the corresponding servlet can store the password in the session and then forward to the worklist app page (if you want that). The BPM login page will NOT come up, since BPM can authenticate the user based on his login into appA. Later (let us say during the external task execution; when the servlet of appA is called from BPM), you can use the password stored in the session to create the papisession object for the logged in user.
Recently I started a blog, where I have an example of PAPI (as this is one of the favourite questions of BPM users). YOu can check it out

Autheticating useing Cisco ACS 4.2 integrated with Active Directory 2003
How do i check that users are Autheticated useing Cisco ACS 4.2 integrated with Active Directory 2003, any one help me in this thanks
You can't actually see the user's membership from ACS. All you can do, create group-mapping under external database >> group mapping section. This would give you an option to map external (AD) group with an Internal group. The group memberrship need to be modified under Active Directory.
Once user is succussfully authenticated and learned as a dynamic user in ACS user setup database, it would be mapped with an ACS internal group based on group mapping we did.
Let me know if you have any doubts.

Authentication Problem with ACS 5.2 Using LDAP
HI!
I want to use LDAP for connecting to active directory but I get this Error from ACS 5.2 ( 22056 subject not found in the applicable identity stores). Is there anyone who can HELP me?
I used this configuration in ACS 5.2:
Users and Identity Stores / External identity store / ldap / Directory Organization
Subject ObjectClass : User
Subject Name attribute ; sAMAccountName
Group ObjectClass : Group
Group Map Attribute : MemberOfTwo questions:
- did you press "Test Bind to Server" from LDAP "Server Connection" tab and "Test Configuration" from "Directory Organization" tab?
- did you select the LDAP database as the result in the identity policy? -
Hello
I have many applications that log into a single directory using LDAP. I want to be able to use single sign on in Portal to this applications. Because the portal users and the applications users are the same is there a way to pass this information from portal to the applications directly without asking it to the user?.
Thanks for any helpHow do the applications currently authenticate?
What you really want is to have all the applications participate in Single Sign-On.
There are 3 ways to do it...
1. make the application an SSO partner application
2. configure the application as an SSO external application
3. incorporate the application into a 3rd party SSO solution with Oracle Single Sign-On as a participating app. -
How do I use LDAP with iMQ 2.0?
I am looking for an example to see how to use LDAP with iMQ 2.0.
I was able to set up the config settings to access a local LDAP,
but iMQ authentication still rejects valid logins.
Let me know if I can find more info someplace. You can also find an example I put togther in the Sun One knowledge base.

Sending mail with attachment report in Background
Content Author: Fernando Faian
I have read the hint about "Sending mail with attachment report".
It's great, but how can I make this function work in background??
I had that needed last year too. See attachment a function group with two functions. The second one has that functionality to send email or fax (SAP office) with attachment objects in background job using SO_ATTACHMENT_INSERT function.
Pay attention because its working with output list from spool converted to pdf.

Any issues with using LDAP on LINUX for GRC 5.2 UME?
Our company is converting our LDAP servers from AIX to LINUX. The DNS name used in our UME connection should not change. Are there any issues with using LDAP on LINUX? We are currently on GRC 5.2 SP9 (in the middle of upgrading to SP12).
Also, I have been trying to connect our test UME system to a test LDAP box that has already been converted to LINUX but keep getting a 'connection failed' error when I try to test it.
Do you have to reboot the server to test changing the LDAP connections? I've been trying it by going into UME, pulling up the LDAP tab, hitting the Modify button, entering the new userid and password for test LDAP, and hitting the Test Connection button. I've verified that this userid and password is correct for test LDAP.
Is there a way to get more information about why the connection failed?
Thanks.I've been told by our LDAP Support group that none of the other configuration settings should have to be changed. I should only have to change the id and password to connect to a test version of LDAP instead of our regular connection to the production LDAP.
Can you test a connection for a different userid/password without having to reboot/restart the server? Do I need to change these two settings, save then, reboot/restart, and then do the Test Connection button?
Thanks. -
HDTV as external monitor using ethernet connection
Hello,
I want to connect my HDTV to my iMac and use it as an external monitor.
My HDTV is about 25 ft away from my iMac.
A HDMI cable of that length cost over 200 $.
So, its not an option to me.
I just bought a smart rooter but my HDTV Panasonic Viera P50GT30 is not a smart TV.
It needs a DLNA server and I can't find one.
Question : Is there a way to use my HDTV as an external monitor using the Ethernet or Wifi connection?
Thank's,
Pierre.This look's good.

has anyone implemented a custom realm using LDAP? I was suprised to learn that

I do not know how I could configure to use the existing LDAP authentication . If anyone know how would I use the existing LDAP on different server to use when they logon to our menu in 10g to validate the user. Do I need to add any varibales in formweb.cfg or any other method. Please help.
