External Bank Reconciliation

Hello
I am trying to use the external Bank reconciliation in SAP Business One 2007.
I want to import the bank statement from my bank to the: Process External Bank Statement window. I will develop a special add-on.
But the question is, i have around 1000 records per account daily, is there any limitation in this window???
Or how i can clean everything from that window, after it has been reconciled??
Thanks
Jacobo

Hello Gordon
We dont have any problem with the SDK. The question is just about the quantity of records in the screen.
Does any one had any problems, with many records??
Thanks
Jacobo

    Brian,
You open Manual Reconciliation window and enter the details and click ok.
You should be able to able to see the list of transactions , If you don't see the Reference Number next to Trans No column open Form Settings and activate the reference fields. You can now sort by double clicking on the columns

  • How to find External Bank Reconciliation # given Check #?

I have a check number for an outgoing payment that has been reconciled on a bank rec, and we can't locate the Bank rec..  Is there a way to find the Bank Rec# that the check was on?  Any information as to how to find this would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.  this is on version SAP B1 2007.

The link between Check # and External Bank Reconciliation # would probably be a many to one relationship.  There is no direct link between them. You may have to dig into the G/L account for all detailed JE for find them.
    Thanks,

  • External Bank Reconciliation Report in 8.81 PL04

    Hi There.
When clickin on the new Bank Reconciliation Report, the Selection Criteria window opens up. Show Acc code, and Reconciliation nr. Its 2 drop down lists. However, the problem is that there is no accounts I can choose from in acc code, and no reconciliation nr in reconciliation nr.
I did do a manual recon, and it still does not give you any options in the selection criteria.
One of the other databases I have, I did a manual recon, and in the report it does give me option to choose from one acc code, and one reconciliation nr.
What do I need to do for the selection criteria to appear in my bank reconciliation report?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Please update the path which report you are trying to fetch.
If a manual reconciliation is performed, it would not be displayed as reconciled in the External Reconciliation.
Kindly let us know the exact window you are checking so that we can further check.

  • External Bank Setup and Bank Reconciliation Issue

    Hello Friends!
I have a question regarding external bank setup in the Banking module of PeopleSoft. Peoplebooks say that you have to define your external bank accounts so that there are no duplicate general ledger business unit and general ledger account combinations. This will cause issues during Bank Reconciliation. Does anyone know what knid of issues are faced? We are actually planning to use one cash account for all banks for a GLBU. But along with every account there is another chartfield so even if the cash account is the same for a GLBU, the combination of account and the other chartfield will be unique. Will this work for bank to book reconciliation?
    Thank you in advance!

You can go to Administration> System Initialisation>Company details> basic initialisation> (check) Bank Processing.
Also, you need to do a few set ups before you start using the bank statement facility. You can find this in SET Up> Banking> Bank Statement Processing.
When you check this, you would be able to see the Bank Statement Processing Form in the banking module.
all the information that you might need for the Bank Statement Processing for versions A and B can be found in the Portal under the following path:
SAP Portal -> Support -> Documentation Resource Center -> Modules and Features -> Bank Statement Processing (BSP)
    Hope the documentation helps you.

  • Import External Bank Statement in SAP B1 Patch level 34

    Hi all,
How do we do External reconciliation in SAP B1 2005. How to Import External Bank statement in to SAP B1 2005.
    Regards
    Shashi

    Procedure
           1.      In SAP Business One, choose Banking  - Bank Statements
and Reconciliations - Process External Bank Statement. The Process
    External Bank Statement window opens.
           2.      In G/L Account, enter the appropriate G/L account number
    and choose TAB.
           3.      Choose Bank File to start the import.
A file browser appears allowing you to choose a folder.
           4.      Open the appropriate folder and select the required bank
    file.
Payment Engine uploads the file as a test run. On the Protocol tab page
of the Payment Engine window, the system displays the result of the test
run. If error messages are displayed here, go back in the process,
correct the errors and start a new test run.
If error messages are visible in the log file you are not able to store
the data in the external bank statement table OBNK.. Check the following
Check that your bank file format is correct
In the Chart of Account, check to see if the Type Input file
    is correct (user-defined field).
           5.      If no error messages are displayed on the Protocol tab,
choose the Preview tab to view a preview of the run. You can switch
between bank and accounting view using the radio buttons.
           6.      Now you can start a production run. To do so, choose
Production Run and OK. The output data will be stored in the external
bank statement OBNK. After a successful run, the system informs you that
the bank statement was imported successfully.
Choose the Bank File tab to check that your file has been imported. You
can also find status information in the log file.

    Hi
I implemented the EBS in my company 4 month ago and here are some advises on the problems i experienced in the setup process. As for the setup process it is straightforward just read the manual at help.sap.com.
We used the MT940 format for importing bank statements from our bank.
The first thing i would advice you to do is make a list of all the possible transactions that are to be handled by the EBS application.
Then make estimation of how many payments that are recieved in constant structured way which the EBS can handle. (invoice number in the text)
The people in our accounting department complained alot about the output format in the EBS not being userfreindly compared to the advises they recieved in e-mail form from the bank so if not the bulk of your payments can be processed automatically it might not be worth the trouble to implement it. (i still think they uses the the email to postprocess the transactions that was not automatically cleraed)
Make sure you havent got any other applications handling some of the transactions that are contained in the bank statement because this wont work. eg. we had a program automatically placing fx trades on customer and bank account which meant that when we recieved the fx trade on the statement it was already placed and therefore had to be placed on a interims account for later reversal.
We get alot of bankcharges on our payments and we set up the EBS to place them automatically on a bankcharge account if the difference between the recieved amount on the invoice was less that 30 dollars.(we just assume that a difference is a bank charge) This means that a customer if he wants to always can pay x dollars under the invoice amount because it will be automatically processed and therefore go unnoticed.
Establish a contact in your bank who knows how their MT940 format has been structured.
Then contact your bank and get them to provide some test statements of old bank statements.
Make sure that you are not the first customer for using the MT940 format or else you will end up being ginny pig for the banks possible mistakes.
As i learned the way banks interpret the MT940 format guidelines can varry quite alot eg. the ocmt field our bank interpreted as the original payed amount in its original currency. SAP inprets this field as the recieved amount in its original currency and therefore it always try to clear the OCMT amount if availleble which meant it always tried to clear the original amount even though there had been taken som bankcharges underways.
I also found out that our bank didnt really bother to specify the type of transaction (interest, fx contract, bank charges, check and so on) which meant we only had two external transaction codes availleble s103 for incomming payments and ntrf for outgoing payments. This gave alot of trouble as i had to identify the type of transaction through seach algorithms.
Our bank also had trouble creating the MT940 file because it has a limited number of characters availleble which meant in the initial file that it only gave the first x characters of each line and then left out the rest. This meant that the text was broken into alot of pieces and you hardly ever had a complete invoice number to clear on. We had the bank altering their format so they now leave out text at the end of the transaction instead.
In the implementation process we experienced that the EBS application created a payment advice each time the amount of the payment didnt match the invoice in the system. We implemented a note from service.sap which disabled this and just assigned the difference to a bankcharge account.
I dont know if you can use these advices but just felt i would try to warn you about the potential problems that i experienced in the process. .
If you have concrete questions to the EBS setup feel free to contact me and i will see if i can help you.

  • Opening Bank Reconciliation

In order to ensure that your client is able to perform their first bank reconciliation correctly, you need to perform the following steps:
    First we'll create an example:
Opening Cashbook (General Ledger) balance           = $100 Dr (Favorable)
    Oustanding unpresented Cheques                           = $50
Opening Bank Statement balance                           = $150
    Step 1:
Firstly enter the Cashbook balance via Incoming Payments as:
    Dr         Bank Account        $100.00
Cr         Cashbook Opening Balance Suspense account   $100.00
    Step 2:
Secondly enter each oustanding cheque via Outgoing Payments against the bank Account
    Dr         Bank Account (Contra)    $100.00
Cr         Bank Account (with Chq No)        $100.00
    Step 3:
Open you Bank Reconciliation via Banking - Bank Statement + External Reconciliation - Manual Reconciliation.
    Enter:
    Opening Statement Balance  =  $  0.00
    Closing Statement Balance   = $150.00
Statement Date = Date before Go Live
Tick / Select Opening $100 + All Dr Balance Cheque Entries.
Once Reconciled you will be left with the Oustanding Cheqs, which will clear once the User starts on their Post Go Live entries.

    Hi Kevin,
Nice to have your message here about OB recon. Actually we have also related problem and let me discuss with financial application consultant about that, then I go back to post the result here.

  • How to use Bank Reconciliation?

    Hi Experts,
Im using SAP B1 2005 A PL52 and I would like to know how to make an automatic bank reconcilisation with an external Bank Statement. The only add-on I have is payment engine which gives me the screen "Cash and Bank Statement" but I was unable to use it? Is there a way to do an import of an external bank statement through SDK? What are the steps necessary for that? Or I can import the bank statement and do the reconciliation in a non-progammatically way?
    Thank you all in advance!
    Andreas Kirtou

    Hi Andreas,
first of all you need to upgrade to version 2007. There have been major changes in the software, it's best to read up on those on the [2007A landing page|https://websmp109.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000694132&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000183&_ADDINC=&_OBJECT=011000358700000187342007].
Then you need to familiarize yourself with the workings of the FD, BTHF & BSP functionalities. This info can be found in the Documentation resource centre ([DRC|https://websmp109.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000707457&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000183&_ADDINC=011000358700001192682007E&]).
    All the best,
