External battery for my 3GS.

Iphone 3Gs does not recognize my backup battery charger.  I have an external battery from Brookstone that charges my phone when I cannot connect to the wall.  The phone no longer recognizes my charger.

  • What is the best external battery for iphone 4s

what is the best external battery for iphone 4s

I bought the Mophie juice pack™ powerstation from the Apple store for $80. It has more then enough power to quickly boost the charge on my iPhone4S to an acceptable level. It requires the standard 30pin/USB Apple cord to plug into it.
But unless you need to charge your phone from 5-100%, this battery is overkill. It's a real hassle having the Apple cord connected to your phone whilst there's a battery in your pocket and you end up looking quite strange with your "corded" smartphone.
I might recommend a battery case (Mophie has these), but they don't offer the protection that I need (I use a LifeProof case).  Instead I would buy a smaller Mophie juice pack™ reserve (keychain, direct plug) to get out of a bind and then charge up your iPhone in the car, wall, airplane, etc.
My only concern with the above (direct plug batteries) is that the slightest bump and the battery becomes a lever that could break the 30 pin plug on your phone, just like that warily flimsy feeling when you put an iPhone in a dock.
Hope that helps, at least in the Mophie department!

  • The Best External Battery for 5th Gen iPod

I read something a while back about a new external battery for the iPod that gets ridiculous results. Im talking about 80 worth of music playback and 20 hours of video. But I cant remember the name of it. Does anyone else know which one Im talking about?

There are tons of different external battery packs, systems and do it yourself solutions out there for iPods as well as generic USB devices. So unless you know something more specific about the one you saw, I doubt any of us can pin point it with "external" and lots of power, as most of them boost this stuff.
Do a web search and you will likely find many more candidates.

  • External battery for iPad 2?

I want to use my iPad 2 (purchased in Australia) on a 24 hour international flight.  Is there some kind of external battery I can buy so I can use the iPad 2 for longer than the standard 10 hours?

Google or Bing is your best friend.  However, I'll do it for you this time...

Also, more and more airlines are putting power ports in coach seat locations.  I think they all have them in F/C or business class.  You can buy a power port adaptor from Apple or other locations that will power your iPad from either an airline seat or a car with a power port.

  • External battery for iTouch. Are they a good idea?

I'm thinking about buying a really cheap 1,500 mah external battery to charge my iPod Touch 5g. Do you think it would be a good idea to do so? Or does it damage the battery and possibly reduce it?

No, 110v and 220v are voltage from your wall socket,  not current, and only appies to an AC adapter. An iPod touch requires, I believe, 5V at 500mA. Again, just make sure that the battery pack is certified for the iPod touch and, assuming that the pack is of good quality, you should be fine.
    Regards.

  • I'm going on a long trip. Is there an external battery for iPod?

I'm going on an 11 hour plane ride. My iPod 80GB may last 6 hours (movie watching). I did a seat search for airplane and there is not an outlet near my seat to recharge iPod. Is there an external battery or something that can be used on long trips so I can continue to watch movies?<

I just recently listed a few options in another thread. See here...

  • External battery for cell phone - what do you use?

    Mophie

I used Mophies for iPhone for a long time, but stopped around 5S when I realized that lead lining the entire phone is suppressing the radio and forces the phone to work harder to talk to networks, draining the internal battery faster than without the case. Odds are, you're still getting a net positive from having the battery, but is it worth the weight and cost just for getting 50% of the advertised lifetime because you're killing the phone? I ended up packing a separate battery like the HyperJuice Plug. 18,000mAh for $110. It's useful for traveling or conferences when I won't be near an outlet and want to charge multiple things.

  • Anyone know about a compatible external battery for mackbook pro?

Just wondering. I've seen some on the web, but not sure they have Apple's blessing?

    Hi lucevans
Thank you very much! I tried it with USB and look-a-here it works! Ok, my iMac (Nov 11) has only USB2 but the transfer rate seems to be pretty similar to using TB. I nevertheless wonder if there is any disadvantage in using USB instead of TB (?).
    Thanks again, Don

  • External battery, don't know why I didn't think of it earlier!

I just got an external battery for the MBA (with MagSafe), and I don't know why I didn't think of it. What a great addition for longer use. Its pretty small, and so far it looks like I can run the MBA for almost 4 hours from the external battery before I start using the internal battery. And this is with display at 1/2 and wifi running. And the battery charger can act as a charger for the computer too!
Anyway I highly recommend a solution like this for anyone with a MBA that wants more runtime. I got the smallest one, the bigger ones have MUCH HIGHER capacities.
    What a great find.

The MacBook Air uses 14.5V, MacBook uses 16.5V and MacBook Pro uses between 16.5V and 18.5V depending on the intensity of its operations. You would want to use the exact voltage to avoid problems, otherwise a lower voltage is always better.
HyperMac takes the guesswork out voltage selection as it automatically detects which MacBook it is connected to and always provide the correct amount of voltage (either 14.5V, 16.5V or 18.5V) and power. It even varies the voltage between 16.5V and 18.5V according to the MacBook Pro needs.

  • New External Battery/Sleep Issues

I have a weird one that I can't figure out. I have been using a new external battery for about a week (the old one wouldn't stay charged for more than an hour). Today my computer kept putting itself to sleep (sleep light flashing and nothing else working - not even power button) and not starting up again unless I unlugged it from the wall, took out the battery and then reset the PMU. I took out the new battery and put in my old one and so far so good. I wonder if it really is the new battery causing these issues or not. Any thoughts?

I'm having this same random sleep issue too!! It's been happening to me a little after I installed Leopard - but I'm not implying that Leopard is causing the issue. My PowerBook still has the original battery. The battery has not shown any indication that it refuses to accept a charge, nor is there any physical damage to the battery or the connectors.
*I have found an easy way to wake the computer when it does go into sleep.* I used to take out the battery, unplug the power cord if it was plugged in, press the power button and reset PRAM just as an added measure. But when you see it is starting to put itself to sleep, let it do its thing... don't try to stop it. When the white sleep light finally starts glowing, tap the space bar (probably any key will do) just ONCE. Sometime it will bring it back for a second and go right back to sleep mode, in which case I just repeat the steps above. Sometimes it'll last me a few minutes. If it does this repeatedly, then after pressing the space bar (after the sleep light starts glowing), I have noticed a delay in it waking up...I can press the space bar and it will either come back right away, or it may take like 30 seconds until it responds. Through trial and error, I've found that if I press any key more than once, I run the risk of it not coming out of sleep mode period....then I have to go through the whole reset process with the PRAM and all.
    Hope maybe that helps someone
Has anyone kind of figured out what this could be the cause of? My laptop gets kind of hot sometimes, but it doesn't always force itself into sleep mode when its hot - so it may or may not be a over heating issue perhaps?
