External characteristics and postable nodes in BW hierarchy in BPS layout

Hi!
Short question: If using a hierarchical layout in BW-BPS what are the constraints on the hierarchy for values to be able to be planned on the individual levels of the hierarchy?
Typically if one has a product hierarchy with one hierarchy basic characteristic: product and an external characteristic: product group which are connected in a hierarchy. How can values be planned on the product group level? And how does this relate to postable nodes in the BW documentation: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/c1/493d3854129f68e10000009b38f8cf/content.htm. Is it only postable nodes that can be planned?

Christian

  • Hierarchy with External Characteristics

I have a request to create a hierarchy for a BEX query that is based on a combination of WBS Element and COORDER.  I see that I can change either of these InfoObjects to allow External Characteristics and I have done this.
This hierarchy is to show costs by Project Manager.  Each Project Manager can have many projects and each project can have many WBS Elements plus individual orders or nothing but individual orders.  I've built the hierarchy and it works in the query as far as how the results are displayed.  But I am only getting costs associated with WBS Elements not with orders.  (I should add that we do not post to WBS Elements, we assign WBS Elements to orders and we post costs to orders so WBS Element is an attribute of COORDER).
For instance, one project manager could have 2 projects; Project 1 includes all orders associated with WBS Element 1 (so I assign the value for WBS Element 1 to a node); Project 2 includes all orders related to WBS Element 2 as well as Order 1 and Order 2 (which are assigned WBS Element 3 but I don't want all of the orders assigned to WBS Element 3 so I assing WBS Element 2 to a node, Order 1 to a node and Order 2 to a node).
Here is what it looks like:
    1 0HIER_NODE PROGMGR1 (child ID = 2; next = 4)
    2 0HIER_NODE PROJECT1 (parent ID = 1; child = 3)
    3 0WBS_ELEMT 1 (parent ID = 2)
    4 0HIER_NODE PROJECT2 (parent ID = 1; child = 5)
    5 OWBS_ELEMT 2 (parent ID = 4, next = 6)
    6 0COORDER   1 (parent ID = 4, next = 7)
    7 0COORDER   2 (parent ID = 4)
I get all of the costs for both projects that are associated with WBS 1 and 2 but none of the costs for the two orders not related to a specific WBS Element.
I have created a selection variable to use the hieracrchy when selecting the query results.  What is the point of assigning External Characteristics in a hierarchy?  I understand logically why my query doesn't select the costs associated with the orders since my hierarchy is based on WBS Element not order.  I've tried including the WBS Element associated with the individual orders in the hierarchy with the thought of restricting those particular nodes down to the specific orders in a structure in my query but I can't seem to figure that out either.
Can anyone give me any ideas on how to do this?

    Hello baRbaRa,
    How r u ?
You have Kept the 0HIER_NODE for the PROJECT MANAGER. Will there be only one project manager !? Assuming you will have more Project Managers,
    0HIER_NODE
    |_ZPROJ_MGR
    ...|_ZPROJECT
    ......|_ZWBS_ELMT
    ......|_ZORDERS
If you assign the WBS Element & Orders to PROJECT it should give the costs based on the PROJECT & WBS Element / PROJECT & Orders combinations.
Is this you r looking for ?

    Hi Gurus,
i need a node text (A), the first Infoobject (B), and the third Infoobject (C), to do this someone told me about in the IO (B) i have to add as external characteristics in hierarchy "C" in "B", i did it and made the hierarchy in manage hierarchy, but when i execute the query doesnt show the hierarchy until the Node "C" (external characteristics ),
just show until node B, the external characteristics is not working or what i must know, this characteristic are in the same Infocube and are relationated there, but C must be Attr of B??

  • Hierarchy with postable node -- data will be displayed on leaves only

    Hello,
I have programmed a generic data source for hierarchy of BOM which should display CO-PCP data along the BOM hierarchy, comparable to transaction CK13N on R/3.
The hierarchy is loaded successfully, having the following info objects:
    0SOURSYSTEM
    0PLANT
    QMATERCO  (header material of BOM)
QMATPLCO (BOM components of inner nodes and leaves).
QMATERCO and QMATPLCO are compounded to 0PLANT, each node is loaded with its individual unique node ID in order to post line items for each BOM component on higher and lower level. The hierarchy will be loaded for characteristic QMATPLCO (having defined 0PLANT and QMATERCO within hierachy definition).
Now I have setup an info cube containing 0PLANT, QMATERCO and QMATPLCO, additionally some other descriptive characteristics and key figures.
The line items given in R/3 source tables are posted into the info cube for inner nodes and leaves (all of them QMATPLCO), each line item is dedicated to one QMATPLCO node.
Problem: The query will display line items for leave nodes only but not for all inner nodes although the nodes are displayed with green characteristic icon if I check the hierarchy itself. Furthermore, in BeX if I drag and drop QMATPLCO into the row, I can choose the loaded top node of the hierarchy but not any inner node or leave node.
    What is missing?

  • Numbering nodes when loading hierarchy from a flat file.

    Hi All,
I want to load a hierarchy from a flat file. When we number the nodes, do they have to be in a sequence or can I give them any number I want? I want to make the GL account number as the node number since it makes it easy to generate the node number that way. The way I see it, the important thing is the parent node number; so this approach should be fine. Please correct me if I am wrong.
    Thanks,
    Uday

    Hi Uday,
You need to have a running sequence numbers for Node Id field in the flat file. The file structure is as
NODEID  IOBJNM      NODENAME TLEVEL LINK PARENTID
    00000001 0GLACC     GL233344             00000001
    00000002 0GLACC     GL435556             00000001
    00000003 0GLACC     GL545666             00000001
    00000004 0costcenter cc433232            00000002
    00000005 0costcenter cc433233            00000002
    00000006 0costcenter CC555551            00000003
The Parentid will calculated by the system automatically.
when you prepare you file csv please ensure that you have 8 characters for the Node ID " 00000003" other wise you will get error.
And if you want to add GL Account number to your hierarchy then you need to add GL A/c Number as external characteristics in hierarchy and add it to your flat file .
    Hope it helps.
    Cheers,
    Balaji

  • How to add two nodes in a Hierarchy

    Hi Experts,
I have 0ACCOUNT hierarchy using for P&L report. I developed this hierarchy to get the values of Revenue and Expenses (nodes).  Once I get this values I want the difference of this two to get the Income Statement. I have Revenue and Expense in 3 rd level and Income statement node is in 2nd level.
My report looks like as follows
                   Month 1        Month 2    Variance    Variance %
    Revenue      1000            1200           XXX           XXX %
    Expense       800              950           XXX           XXX%
Inc Stmt       200            250             XXX           XXXX    ( How can do this calculation)
Please some tell me how to calculate the difference of Revenue and Expense using hierarchy nodes.
    Thanks
    Ganesh Reddy.

    Hi,
My problem is fixed, they are calcualted if you have a child nodes. How means Revenue is positive and Expenses are negative. So we get difference of this two.
    Thanks
    Ganesh Reddy.

  • How can i convert from alac to mp3 and export to artist/album hierarchy

I am trying to populate a 32GB SD Card with music to listen to in my car.  My itunes library is largely in apple lossless format, but the car stereo does not play that format.
I have created a playlist of all of the music I'd like to have on the SD Card (but its in apple lossless format).
So what I'd like to do is:
    a)     Bulk convert a large number of apple lossless files to MP3.
    b)     Export the MP3 files to an external Finder folder, organized in Artist/Album hierarchy
    c)     Delete the MP3 files from the itunes library so as to have just the apple lossless version maintain in the itunes library
Sounds pretty simple, but I'm having a devil of a time trying to figure it out.
I can find a way to do the conversion and export the MP3 files (and subsequently deleted from the itunes library), but they will not be organized by Artist/Album in the Finder folder.
Similarly, I can export a bunch of files from itunes to a Finder folder and have it be organized by Artist/Album.
I just can't do one followed by the other.
I suppose this would also work if instead of exporting the newly created MP3 files, it would establish a new playlist in itunes with these.  Then, I could just export them and have them then organized by Artist/Album; and then I could delete all of the MP3 files in the playlist.
Any thoughts or ideas on how to accomplish this goal?  (I do know the manual way of doing this, but am trying to figure out a faster, more elegant way).
    M

I ask because you wrote, "I just can't do one followed by the other".
You can. Just do one followed by the other.
    Convert the files to mp3.
Put them all into a playlist.  A smart playlist with Kind is MP3 and added in last one day will do it for you.
Select the songs in teh smart playlist
Run Export to Album Folders script.
Select all the songs in the playlist then Command Delete to remove them from iTunes.

  • Adding new characteristics and value fields in COPA

I have recently added several new characteristics and one new value field to the operating concern in the development system.
I am not exactly sure how to create the transport.  This is the first time I have done a transport in COPA so I was hoping someone out there would have some tips on how this is done.
Also any helpful tips with transporting this type of change is much appreciated.

  • HT4236 I've run out of room on my hard drive. I bought an external drive and exported all my albums to the external drive then deleted the albums from iPhoto. I want to sync both from my ext drive and new albums in iPhoto. No dice. Help!

I've run out of room on my hard drive. I bought an external drive and exported all my albums to the external drive then deleted the albums from iPhoto. I want to sync both from my ext drive and new albums in iPhoto. My photos on the devices get wiped out when I sync to iPhoto since I deleted all the albums. But when I sync to my hard drive (where I maintained the album structure) the photos are copied to my iPad but lose all the hierarchy and folder structure. Now I have to scroll through thousands of photos to try to find the one I'm looking for. Before I sync any more devices I want to know the following: 1) can I restore the album structure on my iPad by using the photo cache? 2) is there a way to sync both new iPhoto albums AND pictures in the folders in my hard drive? And 3) how can I keep the photo hierarchy structure from my hard drive intact on my devices?

    Don't do that.
Copy /Photos/Photo library/ to the external.
    Hold Option and launch iPhoto.
Select Choose library and select the Photo library you copied to the external.

  • How do you export iPhoto albums to an external drive and have all the albums still labeled?

I am having an issue exporting the iphoto albums to an external drive. When I do it, it either just drops all the pictures in together or it separates them by events, but my iphotos are arranged in albums, not events so that doesn't help.  Can anyone help with this?
Also, I'm new to mac and i'm noticing iphotos has a lot of limitations...I can't save photos automatically to folders/albums in iphoto bc it doesnt show in the finder, I can't upload to facebook without doing it from iphoto, and I obviously can't save to external drive easily just yet.  Should I just be saving all of my photos in Pictures in the finder? Is there a way you can save them in pictures and then be able to open them in iphotos? I'm getting so frustrated and ready to go back to my PC. =(

    A couple of general comments:
    1. iPhoto is not compulsory. You don't have to use it.
    2. But if you do, then you're going  to need to make a small conceptual leap, and learn just a little.
The Conceptual Leap: Your Files and your Photos are not the same thing. The illustration I use is as follows: In my iTunes Library I have a file called 'Let_it_Be_The_Beatles.mp3'. So what is that, exactly? It's not the song. The Beatles never wrote an mp3. They wrote a tune and lyrics. They recorded it and a copy of that recording is stored in the mp3 file. So the file is just a container for the recording. That container is designed in a specific way attuned to the characteristics and requirements of the data. Hence, mp3.
Similarly, that Jpeg is not your photo, it's a container designed to hold that kind of data. iPhoto is all about the data and not about the container. So, regardless of where you choose to store the file, iPhoto will manage the photo, edit the photo, add metadata to the Photo but never touch the file. If you choose to export - unless you specifically choose to export the original - iPhoto will export the Photo into a new container - a new file containing the photo.
The Learning: iPhoto replaces the Finder (or file browser) for everything to do with your Photo. And I do mean everything. Organising, Editing, sharing with other apps, printing, uploading, whatever are all done either with or via iPhoto. It's you "go-to" for anything to do with your Photos.
The upshot of that is that how (or where) the files are stored doesn't matter - as long as they are safe and backed up - because after importing to iPhoto you never directly access those files again.
So, you want to organise your Photos: do it in the iPhoto Window. Events, Albums, Keywords, and so on. You do all your work via that window or the media browsers that make the Library available in every app in the OS.
So: want to edit a photo, but not with iPhoto? You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
How to access the Photos for whatever reason you may need them see this user tip:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4491
For details of the Export dialogue: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
You can more or less recreate your folder tree in the iPhoto Window - start at the bottom of your tree and drag  folder of images to the Albums Heading. iPhoto will import the images and make an album of them. Then File -> New Folder and drag the Album to that. Folders can hold nested folders and Albums. And so work from there.
But if your folder tree is date based that's a bit pointless, as the Calendar search and Smart Albums make it pretty redundant. With these you can find any photos from a specific day, week, month, year or date-range in the Library.
If the folder tree is theme based, then keywords will a more effective way of working.
And Albums are more flexible that folders in the Finder, as an image can be in any number of Albums and use no extra disk space whatever.
So, it's a whole new way of working with photos for you.
    To your specific questions:
I am having an issue exporting the iphoto albums to an external drive. When I do it, it either just drops all the pictures in together or it separates them by events, but my iphotos are arranged in albums, not events so that doesn't help
Export them one album at a time.
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
But given the above... why are you doing this? You're defeating the non-destructive workflow by doing it. Are you trying to back up?
.I can't save photos automatically to folders/albums in iphoto bc it doesnt show in the finder,
Not clear exactly what you're asking here, but does the above open some ideas?
I can't upload to facebook without doing it from iphoto
Yeah you can... For help accessing your photos in iPhoto see this user tip:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4491
    It's the first one...
and I obviously can't save to external drive easily just yet.
Yeah you can but what exactly are you trying to save, and, again, why? Different purposes have different workflows.
Should I just be saving all of my photos in Pictures in the finder?
That's a personal choics, but not if you plan on using iPhoto. And as I started with iPhoto is not compulsory... As to why you shouldn't with iPhoto:

    Reasons for bothering to learn...
I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums extensively. I title the pics broadly.
    I keyword on a
    Who
    What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 50k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a  typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
    File -> New Smart Album
    set it to 'All"
    title contains Seattle
    keyword is mountain
    keyword is snow
    rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
    New Smart Album
    Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
    Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John  to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me.

  • How to display a char as most detailed node of a hierarchy?

    Hi specialists,
BEx 7.0 knows a function "Display the Row Hierarchically and Expand Till" (Query-Properties --> Data Formating)
This function positions a characteristic instead in an own column as further node in the hierarchy - tree.
I know that similar is possible in BEx 3.5 as well - but I can't find the option.
Could you gimme a hint please?

    Thanks - found it already.
In BEx 3.5 ist seems only to be possible in the Query-Designer --> right-click on the Headline of the column-area --> activate "Display as Hierarchy".

  • Show all nodes in a hierarchy

    Hi all,
I am working with a report where I am showing a hierarchy. I am wondering if it is possible to see all nodes in the hierarchy, that is even if some nodes do not contain data. By default only the nodes that contain data are displayed. How do I show all nodes in BI 3.5?
    Thanks in advance!
    CL

    Hi CL,
    You can try following.
Make sure you have  some data in say  KF A  for the   each node  even if it is zero in the cube  on which you are creating report Add this KF A to your query and Hide the KF. Make sure you do not have any restrictions to this KF A.
I just took example KF A  . This can be any of your KF in the cube  or a Calculated KF,
    Jaya

  • The filter expression is on external data and could not be validated.

The filter expression is on external data and could not be validated. It may not be supported in Web browser forms.
I am reciveing this error in my infopath 2010 browser form when I am trying to filter a drop down list from sharepoint.
I thought filters were available on infopath 2010 browser forms or are they only available from values inside the form?
I did have a look around the forums but only could find this error occuring during beta stage.
    Thanks

Ok, so you shouldn't be filtering in the form, because that means it downloads the entire list first and then filters out the items.  That's client-side filtering.  What you want to do is server-side filtering by doing a parameterized query.
Set the data connection NOT to automatically download
Add Form Load rules that do the following:
First, "Set a Field's Value" and set the position query node of the data connection to the value of "manager" (whatever the exact syntax is)
    Then query the data connection
Doind this should make it ONLY download items where position=manager instead of downloading all items and filtering.  This is a much better practice and was not even available in 2007, so you should make full use of it in 2010.  Even so, what you
were doing should have worked anyway, so I'm not sure what's going on there.
When you do the filtered dropdown, your Source field should be the repeating group of the data connection, not the property itself.  The property should only be selected in Value and DisplayName.  The group should be in the Source field, and THAT'S
    where you apply the filter.

  • How to drag and drop nodes in Tree?

    Hi,
I want to drag and drop nodes in the tree. For example a tree represents the hierarchy of employees reporting in an organization by using tree.I want to change the reporting an employee visible in the tree by simple drag and drop operation in place of going to another form for updating each employee record indiviually.
    Regards
    Piyush

    Ron,
I looked into implementing drag / drop in one of the apex trees I created today and ran across this thread. Thank you Ron for the links, it helped a lot.
I added the code below to my page's "Execute when Page Loads" (tree region id is "tree_reg") and the tree is now drag/drop enabled.
It did break the [+] icon from collapsing the tree though ... but the apex.widget.tree buttons still work
    var regTree = apex.jQuery("#tree_reg").find("div.tree");
    regTree.tree({
    callback : {
    onmove: function(NODE, TREE_OBJ, REF_NODE, TYPE)
    {alert(NODE.id+"   "+TREE_OBJ.id+"   "+ REF_NODE);}
    });Next, I plan on creating a AJAX call using NODE.id, TREE_OBJ.id, and REF_NODE

  • BW hierarchy dummy leaf node in BPS layout

    BW hierarchy with postable nodes.
I am using a cost center Hierarchy in a layout.
    I get the following nodes:
    4711 (inner node)
--4711 (dummy leaf, system generated, not assigned budget)
    --4712 (leaf)
How can avoid displaying in the layout the dummy leaf, system generated, not assigned node?

If the dummy node is a summary of all cost centers not present in your hierarchy (thus the not assigned node BW generally allocates to your hierarchy):
then goto your info-object(cost center), enter the specific hierarchy, click on the button 'hierarchy attributes', click the flag suppress not assigned nodes.
    Activate your hierarchy.
BW will now no longer display the not assigned node.
Please assign points if this helped you or solved your problem,
    Filip
