External display issues with Adobe CC inDesign

Since the latest OSX update (10.10.2), I'm unable to work on my external monitor in Adobe CC inDesign when the display is arranged to the top. The application launches, with menu and toolbars on the external, but fails to open the working document as well. With app frame checked, it shows the document but it's inaccessible – also, tools are pixellated.
Strangely, everything works fine with the external arranged to the left, right or bottom. I've tested it on a 27" apple display – same issue.
Bizarre and annoying.
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013, 2 GHz Intel Core i7) with external DELL S2240L arranged to the top. Running inDesign 2014.1 (10.1.0.71 Build)

I have a similar problem. I'm working on a 15" MacBook Pro with an external 27" Apple Cinema Display. I use the huge external display for the application frame and put my palettes on the laptop's display. The external is to the right of the laptop, and I arranged the displays such that their bottoms are aligned. Since updating to 10.10.2, the application frame jumps part way down the screen (I'm guessing to where its top aligns to the laptop display). This makes the application practically unusable.

  • External display issues with Snow Leopard?

This is going to be sort of complicated, but I want to know if anyone else has had any similar issues. I have a ~6 month old polycarbonate Macbook and I recently upgraded to 10.6.1 and have not had any problems with that as far as I know. Recently at work I got a 22" Viewsonic vx2233wm LCD monitor and have been hooking my MB up closed with a USB mouse and keyboard attached. This seems to work fine, but I have noticed that at home when I use my MB without the monitor that the OS and some software acts glitchy. Specific examples: Excel 2008 freezing when I try to open a new file or do just about anything else (might just be Excel being Excel), Preview crashed, and Finder slow with lots of color wheels. Yesterday when this was happening, I restarted and the computer got stuck so I had to do a hard reboot. Today again I was having similar problems, although it seems to be okay now without rebooting.
Anyone else had any problems like this?

Same here. Looks like we're the only ones! My Office Word and Entourage, and Firefox will sometimes crash right after I either connect or disconnect the monitor, which is IBM ThinkVision 17" LCD. I try to respect every technical aspect they propose in the guides. The only solution I found so far : closing every software and airport before to connect, then opening everything again. Longer but safe. If anyone has a better hint...
    Cheers!

  • Viewing issue with Adobe Reader

    Hi there,
I'm having an issue with Adobe reader, which appears to be not related to platform or version. To cut a long story short. I've created an A4 design in Photoshop. Part of this design includes some boxes, that have been given an outline (border) effect. Also bare in mind that the Photoshop files are being created at 350dpi.
When I put my design into Illustrator/ InDesign and then generate a PDF file. I then go and look at the pdf file and when the zoom is at 100%, the edges of the boxes are not straight, you'll get a slight offset half way along for example. However, when I zoom in to 400% the problem disapears and the lines (edges) look perfectly as they should.
Does anyone know about this issue? I'm worried that when I print from the PDF, this issue will be in the print-out - or will it be OK when I print it seeming as it dissapears at 400% zoom.
Any prompt answers or help would be appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Luke

Can you open Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

  • Screen/Display Issues with Aperture 3.6 & iPhoto 9.6 on Yosemite

When I open Aperture or iPhoto, my screen goes all wonky. I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro with 8 GB Ram with the Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB. What is it doing this? How can I fix it?

    Hello there, tehat17.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great recommendations for troubleshooting issues with the display on your MacBook Pro:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
    Start with these:
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
    Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.
If you tried all of these steps for your display and the video issues persist, contact Apple technical supportor take your Apple computer to the nearest Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) for diagnosis. If you plan to visit an Apple Retail Store, make a reservation at the Genius Bar using http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/ (available in some countries only).
Note: Diagnostic fees may apply for issues not covered under warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan (APP).
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Privacy/Security Issue with Adobe Flash 10

Not sure if anyone has noticed this or not, but there is a
bizarre (if minor) privacy/security issue with Adobe Flash Player
    10. I came across it while attempting to upload a file to Flickr.
Previous versions of AFP do not exhibit this problem.
    Specifics: using Firefox 3.x, Vista.
The problem: When Flickr calls the "open file" dialogue in
Flash 10 (in order to upload files) via the "Upload Photos and
Videos" link, at the bottom of the dialogue, to the right of the
"File Name" box, sits a common UI element that brings up a dropdown
menu of what appear to be (or at least are supposed to be) recently
viewed or downloaded or accessed files. Actually I'm not sure how
Flash 10 compiles or accesses this list of files, but at any rate,
a list of files come up.
The problem is that, as far as I can tell, the list of files
that come up reference a long list of files, some that are very old
and that no longer exist, and that there is no way that I can find
to clear the list. This is a minor security/privacy issue, as
generally there should be a way to prevent a dialogue from
displaying a long list of past-accessed files by clearing a cache
somewhere or other -- imagine if it was impossible to clear the
history of a web browser, for example -- this would be considered a
pretty significant privacy issue. I have tried everything from
flushing the browser cache to uninstalling and reinstalling the
browser to uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Flash to using the
Flash Settings Manager to clear out the Flash saved sites to
turning off Vista indexing to clearing out Vista's Recent Items
list. None of these actions did anything to clear out this list of
files. I can find no references to these files anywhere when I use
Vista Search (with unindexed and system files searched as well),
and I can find no reference to the files anywhere in the registry
(I checked just in case Flash 10 was storing this index in some
really bizarre place.) I've linked to a screenshot below of what
I'm talking about -- most of the files listed below were deleted a
long, long time ago, and so I have no idea why this dialogue refers
    to them.
    Screenshot
Is there a simple work-around for this that I'm unaware of?
Even if there is, there needs to be some more obvious way to clear
out this list. Where is this information being stored, and what
criteria does this list use to "put a file on the list"?

Thanks for putting me on the right scent. That's what I'd
originally thought, too -- it's just that the file-> open dialog
was giving an entirely different list of files with other
applications, so I assumed that it must be Flash that was the
culprit. Turns out the reason it was different with Flickr was
because it was restricting the file results via a long string of
video and picture filetypes that are compatible with the Flickr
    service.
It turns out the information I'm looking for is buried deep
within the registry. The only way to clear out this list of files
is to delete the following key (or specific subkeys):
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ComDlg32\OpenSavePidl MRU
Seems more than a little stupid to store such information in
the registry if security is your concern. Vista beguiles me
    sometimes.

  • OSX Mavricks - Any issues with Adobe CS?

Just wondering if anybody has been using Mavricks at all and if there are any issues with Adobe CS at all.

Okay, well I can give a good report on this since I installed Mavericks today and am working with InDesign CC...which, as we all know, already has slowness issues. Well, last I tried to do a simple upgrade to Mavericks and was not able to do it! Seems like the Apple Gurus formatted my hard drive in a way they were *not* supposed to when I had them replace the hard drive at the end of last year, after a hard drive recall for the iMac 27"'s...grrr...THANKS Apple Gurus! So I ended up having to wipe the drive before being able to install Mavericks....then imported all my data over and it worked GREAT! (First time I have done this since I used to always prefer a clean insteall and installing everything from scratch but just did NOT have the energy or will to do it this time around! I was IMPRESSED and all worked well!
And now on to the nitty gitty of my post....long story short, everything worked well EXCEPT for InDesign CC which was slooower than EVER. Before the upgrade, I had gotten it to a point where it was ACCEPTABLE to work in speedwise. But now every little keystroke had a HUGE lag...even selecting a tool from the toolbar would take forever. And typing or selecting text....forget it I wanted to put my head in my arms and cry my heart out. I am in the middle of some huge projects and need to get them done.
And yes, I KNOW...I KNOW...I should NOT be doing something so risky as updating my OS when I have so much work to do. BUT I DID take all the precautions and make all necessary backups prior to doing so!! It is just in my BONES and probably in my DNA that sometimes I just cannot wait to do things like these major OS upgrades...otherwise a little inner voice will keep nagging at me...and I won't be able to concentrate on anything else until I get it done...so I just HAD to go ahead and get it done! I REAAAAALLY wanted Mavericks installed!
And now for the GOOD NEWS! After trying everything else I could think of, I reset the ID CC prefs (which should have been the FIRST thing I did!!) by htting CMD-OPTION-CTRL-SHIFT upon starting ID CC and.....suddenly...lo and behold....WOW....suddenly everything had dramatically speeded up in InDesign! EVERYTHING! Text selection, typing, selecting tools and everything else. I have no doubt that most people who are having slowness issues with ID CC have already tried this and are still experiencing slowness issues....but this worked for me today at any rate. I will keep you posted if I experience any more issues after this.
All I know is I am a happy camper and ID CC seems to now be working faster than it has before.
    So...that's my news:)

  • Issues with Adobe Reader with Windows 7

I'm having big issues with Adobe Reader. It won't open/display PDF files and closes on it's own!

Not sure if it can help you but I believe you have NVIDIA driver on your machine. Which version it is?

  • Having issues with Adobe Flash player hanging the browser

Having issues with Adobe Flash player hanging the browser.
    WIN 7 enterprise 32 bit / Firefox 19.0.2 /
Internal company website keeps giving attached screen shot error, and hangs the browser when error pops up.
    Steps taken:
Uninstalled Adobe Flash player with the file “uninstall_flash_player.exe”
    Deleted provided directory in instructions
"Copy and paste the following and click OK.
    C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
Delete all the files in this folder."
Rebooted PC and reinstalled the flash player directly from “http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html”
Re launched company website and received same error.
Repeated above steps as well as uninstalled Firefox browser.  Even went so far as to remove all profile information to start fresh from all profiles on the laptop with the same results.
Note: The web page will work without the flash player plugin, and my page doesn’t hang the browser. Required to open page in FireFox per company policy.

I'm sorry you're encountering this.  Could you paste a few of the most recent report ID links displayed when you go to "about:crashes" in the Firefox address bar?
As for workarounds, the first thing I'd suggest is trying our 11.7 labs release which you can get here: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer.html
If that doesn't help, please try the troubleshooting steps outlined in this FAQ:
How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?
In particular, I'd recommend temporarily disabling protected mode (for troubleshooting purposes only) to see if that addresses the issue.

  • 10.5.6 Update USELESS!!! External Display Issues Still remain!

The external display issues remain, even after installing the update.
    I'm sick of this!
Is it a hardware issue or software related?
Are the 9600 graphics chips defective?
Come on Apple and be honest to your customers, we all paid a lot of money for these systems!
Does anyone out there know where can I complain to?
I need an email address or something that is not directed at iphones or ipods!
    Cheers.
    <Edited by Moderator>

I'm not sure what to make of this at this point. I ordered a CTO 2.8GHz with 4GB RAM and 320GB HD the day they were announced. First week or so, few if any problems. Then the "UHF" like bands of static began to appear randomly. I use my computer 90% of the time driving an external monitor. I use a separate set up at home and work with duplicates of all cables. The problem occurs on both. I spoke with Apple Care - they patched me over to support and moved me up to Tier one pretty quick, even had me send in my System Profiler information for every combination of screen and graphics card. Then they emailed me a program to capture my monitor info again with every combination of screen and graphics card. No solution. They finally asked to "capture" my computer for their labs and sent me a new one.
Once again, about 2 1/2 weeks of smooth sailing and bam, same issues now occurring. If it's a driver issue, why is everything fine for so long? Also, 10.5.6 and the new firmware have failed to address. Given my above exchanges with Apple, they certainly can't claim they don't know about it.
I've been using Apple Products for a long time. I've seen some real buggy stuff - like when File Vault first came out but this is the worst I've experienced. Seems like poor quality control. If it's a select few machines, I appear to have won the lottery as I've had two of them.
I'm sure this issue is much more wide spread as it is a non-issue if you only use the internal display. Only people consistently driving an external display will even know there is a problem.

  • Does anyone else have display issues with Intel X3100 graphics and OS X Lion?

I took the screenshot below to demonstrate one issue I have had with graphics since upgrading to OS X Lion. I use a Late 2007 MacBook with 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo and the Intel X3100 graphics chipset. I have 4GB RAM. Had to reboot to get this to correct itself. The problem is the menubar (obvious) and the desktop image is missing, replaced by the grey.
I have an external monitor connected (second image) and everything displays properly there.
Some other issues I've noticed are using Mission Control sometimes yields unpredictable results, graphically speaking, and the fullscreen apps don't always allow me to see the menubar. These all seem graphically related. Is this a hardware or software problem? Any solutions?

Here is another display issue with my machine...perhaps software rather than hardware? The icon for the rtf file "Matt Passages" is missing entirely. There is a faint rectangle present instead. The same file has an icon in the first image posted above. No change to the file since then. And two other RTFs have the icon! Odd things with Lion.

  • Having major issues with Adobe Media Encoder (AME) - exporting with weird image flickering/colour anomalies, crashing regularly, freezing during encode...!

    Hi Guys
I am having some real issues with Adobe Media Encoder (AME) at the moment.  It appears that I am unable to encode an h.264 for Vimeo from a Premiere Pro Project file at the moment without at least some weird image issues that are not supposed to be there.  These include weird flickering, colour changes, artefacts etc.  This is if I am lucky...often I am unable to get the process to complete as the application either crashes and tells me there has been a problem or it simply freezes and I have to force quit the application and often restart my machine.
The problem seems to not to just be with h.264 for the web encodes but also with BluRay h.264 as well. As yet I haven't seen if there is a problem with MPEG-2 for DVD so I will check this out too!
Does anyone else see this happening or does anyone know what might be the problem?
I thought the Premiere Pro project might have been corrupt so tried a different project but the same issues were happening here too.
Any help would be really gratefully received.
    Cheers
EDIT - I have just found this online which is exactly the problem I am having! Thanks a bloody bunch Apple! 10.9.3 causing headaches for Mac Pro users | MacIssues

Agreed, I now have a project to GET OUT, and AME crashes consistently 1/3 into the render. It appears to halt all processing after (real time) 00:02:30
Am seriously considering uninstalling CC as I am beginning to find other issues in some apps, and going back to CS6/MC just so I can get work out. Durn it Adobe this is AWFUL!!
Alright, let's try to be constructive instead of throwing rocks... but the frustration level is high, and I have material on deadline. Let's get with this, guys...
    What OS Win7, 64-bit
What version of AME/PPro (Please be specific by getting the full version number in the About Adobe Media Encoder screen) 8.2.0.54 Ppro: 8.2.0 (65)
When is it crashing (Again, the more detail here about where it was in the encoding process the better) roughly 1/3 into the sequence, always on exactly the same frame - tried replacing the clip with something different to see if it was a timeline error, and NO EFFECT.
What is your source (PPro project or media file (what kind?)) PPro
If the source if a PPro project, does it work when exporting directly from PPro? NO
What format are you exporting to? H.264, QT, WM, tried everything my client can play.
Do other formats work? MPEG2, QuickTime, etc? NO
Have you tried with GPU rendering on? How about turning it off by switching to Software-only mode? Mine doesn't have any choice, it's software-only.
Have you tried disabling Native Sequence Loading? (AME Preferences: General > Enable Native Sequence Loading) No effect
Other things I tried: uninstalling/reinstalling AME, setting cache to a fast local disk.

  • Issues with Adobe Professional 9

    Hi
We are facing some issues with Adobe Professional 9,
The problems are as follows while converting the DOC file to PDF using Adobe Proff 9.
    1) Bullets are missing
    2) Crossreferences are not working
    3) adding junk characters in header.
Can you please help me on this.
We need to understand the issue.
    Manohar S S

Just some stray thoughts on the topic:
Use Adobe PDFMaker to create the PDF from the MS Word file.
When a MS Word cross-reference is inserted, ensure that "Insert as hyperlink" is ticked in the Cross-reference dialog.
In the configuration of Adobe PDFMaker's Preferences, ensure "Add Links" is ticked (under the Settings tab).
Ensure that the installed Acrobat (and associated Adobe PDFMaker) is working with a compatible version of Office.
    See: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/333/333504.html
For all characters used in the source MS Word file; ensure that the characters used provide proper mapping to Unicode.
Do not use characters that rely upon a restricted character value.
When using Word Headings/Styles that incorporate the bullet character, ensure you work from those that are "built-in" to MS Word.
If you are working out of Windows 7 / Office 2010 you need to move up to Acrobat X.
    Be well...

  • Issue with Adobe maybe?

    Hi,
So I am having issues with adobe reader.  I work as tech support and someone called in with issues.  His issue is:
Cannot open forms and enter information then save them back using his program.  The webprogram he is using is JIDS.  JIDS requires that the pdf be opened in the webbrowser.  This is so it can be saved back to their database or whatever.
The issue is when he tries to open the document in ie it opens it on his local adobe program not in the browser.  I checked the addons and adobe will not appear there. (in any of the catagories plz do not reply im in the wrong view or whatever)  If I open a force ie to open a pdf nothing appears (makes sense because it says there is no addon).  I have uninstalled and reinstalled adobe multiple times from adobe.com (it is up-to-date) every time says installed successfully.  This is a new computer and does not have older versions on it.  I have removed it using the adobe cleaner then reinstalled no change.  I tried reapplying the acropdf.dll using regsvr32 both in the 32bit and 64 bit locations (\windows\system32\ and \windows\sysWOW64\) and I keep getting an error that says loaded but dllregisterserver error 0x80070005.  which is permissions error, but he is the only admin on the pc(local admin) and has full access, uac is shut off and i was using the cmd in run as administrator mode.
Since i couldnt find anything else on this I dicided to use firefox since ie and FF are only browsers allowed by JIDS.  I downloaded newest FF and FF does say adobe reader addon is installed, but when i open the pdf in the JIDS program the fields are not editable and it has a popup ontop of the browser saying something about compatability issue and asks me to open with different program (clicking it opens the pdf in the adobe reader program and it is then editable but will not save back to the website, no supprise there).
He is using windows 7 64bit logging onto a domain.  Using IE9 and updated adobe reader (11.0.03) and newest version of Firefox
Windows is fully up to date.
His computer is the exact same model as the one next to it that works perfectly fine and he hasnt done anything that could have messed up the system files (he knows he is bad with computers and doesnt do anything without asking someone else first).  Mostly only uses the webbrowser and another program thats installed on there for him already.
I plan on installing adobe reader X or possibly older version of IE/FF to see if these might help.  I also will be checking/disabling what he has for AV (i think its just windows security essentials but im not sure will doublecheck).
Any other suggestions on things to try?  What is could be causing these issues?

Probable issue with the Firefox is that in the documentation it is poorly worded poorly,  JIDS only support FF 17.
What is the issue with IE if that does fix the FF issue?
