External display UNITED LED22W11 not detected

I'm having problems trying to connect my external monitor UNITED LED22W11 to my MacBook Pro with OS X 10.9.
Unfortunately I can't give you any other informations since when I plug it in through my Belkin mini displayport to HDMI adapter nothing happens (and it's not detected even if I select "Detect displays" in System Preferences).
I've already tried to connect my MacBook Pro with the same cable to another external monitor and it works (same thing if I connect the UNITED monitor to a pc).
Hope someone could help.

Hi, koles
Thank you for the information. In the past, updating BIOS was something that was rarely done, as it could lock up and not work, which would render the computer useless if it failed. Today, however, it is not like it once was. As with updates, there is still some risk involved, but there is now a utility that will update the BIOS for you. If you'd like, you can update all the other drivers first and then do the BIOS as a last resort if you would rather not try it unless you need to.
Hope it helps. Keep me posted!
Best,
Adam

  • External display for T520 not detected

    Hi!
I have ThinkPad T520 and Samsung 17'' display with DVA output. I bought DVI-VGA adapter and connected the display to laptop's VGA input. The external display is not detected - it is not present in Windows 7 display properties and it shows "No connection, check signal cable" on it's screen. I don't think that there is something wrong with adapter, because it's new. How can I setup it correctly?
    Thanks!

  • What should i do if my external hard drive is not detected by my mac

what should i do if my external hard drive is not detected by my mac?
need to have the files saved on it and be able to backup via time machine

    Hi:
Here are some of the options I've read about on here that may or may not work:
    1. Reset the NVRAM as it may need to be reset to recognize the drive. See below:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
    2. If the drive is a USB drive, put a USB hub between the drive and the unit. As ridiculous as that may sound in some cases it works.
    3. If you have some types of hardware problems and want to test them this works:
    http://scsc-online.com/Scannerz.html
That's a test tool only. It isn't going to fix anything just diagnose a bunch of possible hardware problems and it costs money, too.
What format is the drive in? Is it a Mac native format like HFS or is it some other format, like NTFS or FAT?

  • Using two external displays that are NOT mirrored

i have a MBP early 2008, meaning the external display port is a dual DVI-I port. I have have two external displays, both samsung syncmaster xl2370 with native resolution 1920x1080. i have a dual dvi-i to vga splitter. when i connect both displays, they mirror one another, which is not what i want. rather, i want to have my MBP display, and two external displays that are not mirror images of one another. according to apple, if i buy a dual dvi-i to dvi splitter, i get the same effect. i've read on various forums about hardware alternatives, like buying a usb to dvi or usb to vga adapter, with some reasonable results (except a bit of sluggishness). the best one seems to be the diamond: http://www.diamondmm.com/BVU195.php
it mostly gets good reviews, but is sluggish. does any know of any better options?
    many thanks, jovo

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
USB is slow partly because it is processor and driver dependent. Best to go with a straight video solution, such as Matroxes products like this one: http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/dh2go/

  • Display Preferences does not detect dual monitors

Display Preferences does not detect dual monitors.
    There is no workaround here.
Only a prompt update from apple will solve this.
Any level 5 geniuses I welcome your guidance... please prove me otherwise.

    Hi marconi de baloni,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like the computer is not recognizing a second display. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
OS X Yosemite: Connect multiple displays to your Mac
If a display is not recognized, choose Apple menu > System Preferences on the primary Mac, click Displays, then click Display.
Open the Display pane for me
Then click the Detect Displays button.
You can also try putting your Mac to sleep and then waking it.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • I have a Macbook and an external display that will not connect.

I bought a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adaptor from Apple but the Detect Displays under system set up does not recognize my external display.  The Mini Display port doesn't fit into the port on my Macbook with the Display printed above it but into "Y" port.  The picture on the package for the adaptor matches the ends of the adaptor, but they don't seem to fit where they should.
Is that the issue or is there something else?

    Hardware Overview:
      Model Name:          MacBook
      Model Identifier:          MacBook4,1
Thank you.  I didn't know where to look for that information.

  • External display can't be detected: One solution found

Last June I posted an issue regarding my Macbook not being able to detect an HPSB21 digital light projector (http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7436333#7436333). Research on various forums suggested that it was a common problem on certain models of external displays, and that an effective solution was difficult to come by.
For those of you who continue to experience the same problem, I can attest to the effectivity of using Dr. Bott gHead II adapter (http://www.drbottkg.com/prod/ghead.html). It had been out of stock in North America for a while, so I had mine shipped from Europe.
After connecting my Macbook to my HPSB21 using this adapter, it worked instantaneously, ending three months of desperation looking for a solution. Whatever it is in this external device, I feel Apple owes it to its customers to adapt in its future models.

The Dr. Bott cable doesn't seem to be available any more. But there is another solution. Cables to Go manufactures a 10ft. M1 Male to DVI-D Male Cable that works with the MacBook Pro and the SB21. I ordered mine through amazon.com for $45.
The issue apparently derives from the fact that the projector was made to run with a cable that incorporated a USB connection as well as the video connection. The USB was intended to run a hand-held mouse. The above mentioned cable incorporates the two signals and the projector is happy.

  • How tow connect two external displays that are not mirrored and turn of the retina display

    Hello,
    I have two questions:
    1.  Is it possible to use two external displays either mirrored or not and turn off the retina display, and if so how it is done?
    2.  Is it possible to close the MBP and use an external keyboard while using two external displays?
I am using a music production DAW Persons Studio One-2 Pro and it would be great to be able to have this type of a setup.

    And -
    Thunderbolt digital video output
    Native Mini DisplayPort output
DVI output using Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter (sold separately)
VGA output using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter (sold separately)
Dual-link DVI output using Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter (sold separately)
    HDMI video output

  • New 27" iMac ejecting external hard drive and not detecting it consistently

I purchased my iMac from Best Buy two days ago and am wondering if I have a lemon. During the process of transferring files via an external hard drive I have noticed a number of issues. My old 2007 iMac had no problem reading the drive but my new iMac keeps ejecting the disk every couple of minutes. I will get a message in the corner of my computer stating that it was not ejected properly.
At one point, the new iMac would not read the drive at all. I plugged in my iPhone and it detected it at first but eventually ejected it and would not detect it again either, not even to charge it. I restarted the computer and it started detecting the iPhone and the external the drive, but now I am back to getting the same error message. I have tried to repair the disk using disk utility and it does not detect any problems. I also tried using every single usb port.
I would appreciate any suggestions and will be taking it back if it keeps having issues.

  • External display recognized but not working?

So, I've got kind of a weird problem.
Whenever I connect my iMac (through the Thunderbolt port) to my 32" RCA HDTV via a displayport to HDMI adapter, it shows on my iMac that there is a display connected (TTE HDTV), but my TV isn't recognizing it. I have tested the port/TV using my Windows laptop with a (native) HDMI port and there have been no problems.
I would think it was the cord I bought, except that my iMac recognizes an external display. It doesn't seem to be the TV's fault, and I've tried every resolution setting.

Yeah I have been having the same problem. When I'm looking at the Display Settings, it comes up with Samsung 1080 when its connected, however the tv doesnt recognize it. And if i unplug the HDMI cable from the adapter, the Tv options go away. There must be some sort of TV setting maybe? I am also using a passive adapter.

  • N580 white screen, external display also does not work

I have an N580 that I purchased about 9 months ago. Last night, the screen went completely white, and upon reboot, the screen instantly comes up white.
After trying many of the troubleshooting steps seen throughout the interwebs for this, I tried plugging the VGA into a known good external monitor, but the LCD remains white, and Function F7 does not switch the display over to the external monitor.
I am thinking that this must be the graphics chip, as the backlighting still seems to work, and the display won't transfer to external monitor.
    Any other suggestions?
Also, what are my options seeing that this is within the 1 year warranty?

    Dear oviyach,

  • External Hard drive is not detecting

I recently converted my external hard drive from FAT32 to NTFS using the Command Prompt as outlined on your website. Everything was working fine, I copied a 7GB file to it and everything worked. The next day I switched on my PC, I couldn't and still can't
find my external 2TB hard drive by my computer. When I plug it in, it is detected by my computer as an external USB mass storage device, but it doesn't appear in the my computer folder. I can also see it in the device manager and the disk management tab of
the manage settings. The system thinks that the partition is healthy. I just can't seem to access it. Please help. I have about 500 to 800 GB of data on it that I really don't want to lose. Its a Seagate back up plus HDD. It has no switch, it switches
on automatically when you plug in the USB. The light on the HD also turns on, and I can feel the disk working inside when I touch it. Thanks in advance. Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. I am using Windows 7 enterprise N edition on a 64-bit Lenovo tablet, if that helps at all.

  • External Storage (hdd) is not detected after loading Mac OS X v10.7 Lion

    Dear All
Everything was o'k with 10.6, but in 10.7 - it does not react at all. It is Seagate 500Gb. After connecting leds lit, but nothing more happens.
Thanks in advance for your kind advices.

i have the same problem. it seems that Lion uses different filing system and doesn't recognizes the HDD. Try if you can see it in the Disc Utility.( i can)...However, not even Repair does anything.
I found this help at the forum. It seemed to work for some people, but not for me. I cannot find the mentioned file.
so i am waiting for Apple's patch or update.
let me know if it worked for you.
here's the advice from the forum:
    1. I uninstalled every NTFS driver that I had on my Mac.
    2. I restarted.
    3. I deleted the file on this route:  /System/Library/filesystems/ufsd.fs
(I did a backup of the file, just in case)
    4. I reinstalled a NTFS driver, (I used Paragon NTFS for Mac v.9.0)
    5. Restart again.
    6. You're done. You should be able to mount your external NTFS drive.
Big thanks to Nic Pel and Humbertog for their help
