External DVD-RWs, impatience and lower cost......Please Help
So - in a rush to get a new MacBook, with low finances and the fact that the refurb store only had Combo drive machines I bought a MAcBook WITHOUT a Super drive. I don't need to burn DVDs as my eMac is fine at that.
Well, (long story short), new CamCorder, eMac can't run iMovie 08 and iMovie 08 is the only software that will work well with the CamCorder so I need an external DVD writer.
Any suggestions - I am mainly concerned about the fact that it has to be fully compatible with iMovie 08 as that is the only reason why I need one!

Any dvd writer that you get that is Mac-compatible will be iMovie 08 compatible. Most external dvd writers will work, but I reccommend one from Lacie. I have their external, and they work beautifully with Macs. Also, you get much faster burn speeds than you would with an internal burner.
Basically, all you need is to make sure that whatever you get is Mac compatible, and you will be set.

Dec 3, 2014, 03:23:10 PM Self test - passedOkay I worked on this today and since no response I guess it is not possible without setting up an entire network. I did hook up a hard drive to the USB port on the Airport and it is working without a hitch. I guess I can use this to move files back and forth when needed. Would have been better to have it how I did with the Netgear but I guess this is the next best.

Simple and low cost design tool
I am looking for a simple (relatively) and low cost(or free) tool, site, software that can help with the design of space. Something that essentially can take a space and place objects to help figure out the layout and design. Any ideas?

Have you ever heard of open source tools? They can do the job easily and less expensive than proprietary solutions that cost a lot of money.
You can have a look at a good ETL open source program called Talend Open Studio: it is user-friendly but also has advanced features intended for technical users (java debugger, code injection…). It can perform data migration and ETL as you wrote in your first post.

Montan Lion "kick out" My usb memory sticks, external Hard drives, external DVD /cd drive and give me an error message "PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
It does not matter what I plug in to the USB post, the results is the same ...
U use external hard drives, memory sticks (new and my old memory sticks), I also use an external cd / dvd writer LG Portable Super Multy Drive
They all run for ± 1 min then it loose contact and I get error messages like, error code -8062 or PowerPC applications are no longer supported..... etc -

SD DVD made in DVD studio pro doesn't work- please help!
Can't figure this problem out for the life of me - checked all forum posts available and nothing has helped. Hopefully you can help me solve this:
I made a SD DVD on a DVD-R (Verbatim 16x) with DVDSP 4.2.1 and it wont work on most DVD players - but - it DOES work on mac computers, Sony PS2, and some PCs with mpeg players.
The footage is 10 min. long (shot with DVCPRO HD 720p60) and imported as a .m2v video & .ac3 audio file using compressor (with the preset DVD Best Quality 90 minutes).
I had originally thought I made an HD DVD by mistake, but when I checked the file in DVDSP, all settings are marked SD; when opening the DVD in file manager, I also see that there are 2 bins VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS, so it can't be HD.
What am I doing wrong that it preventing this DVD from playing on most DVD players???? Please help!In what way does it not work, is it not doing absolutely anything at all, is playback jumpy, something else?

Did you get any help on this? From what I can see from surfing this site, it's a BUG that no one has offered a solution to. It sometimes happens after a 'reset' and going to ITunes does not offer a way to 'set up push notifications'.
