External guitar won't monitor on playback. Will record and playback.

When playing into Logic using Orpheus I can hear my guitar. as soon as I start the transport it disappears from monitoring but works, and is heard, in record mode . What's going on! It will playback once recorded.

Hi... thanks for your reply.
I don't really understand the flow through Logic and Orpheus but I'm sure that this has worked correctly with the default settings before... I have tried with "i" on and off and don't really understand what it does but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
I don't know if anything in Logic is corrupted.. Can you somehow throw away the preferences and reset it?
I don't understand the monitoring section of Orpheus and run it in default mode which is DAW and don't use the MIXER settings.
I'll check out low latency mode but ams sure that it is unchecked.
It's a real drag to record an electric guitar ...you get the sound of the guitar with the music stopped which disappears when you go to play mode... comes back when you hit record and play's back once recorded.
WHAT IS WRONG IS THAT FOR SOME REASON THE TRACK'S SIGNAL IS NOT RUNNING THROUGH LOGIC. I'M SURE THAT IT'S SOMETING, LIKE YOU SAY, IN THE SOFTWARE STOPPING THE SIGNAL GOING THROUGH LOGIC'S AUDIO ENGINE??? IT SHOULD WORK WITH SOFTWARE MONITORING TURNED ON???

  • My Time Machine partition on an external HD won't mount in OSX, but loads and reads fine in Bootcamp

    I've been using windows 7 a lot recently for school, and when i do, i can have my external HD mounted to access files (read only) if needed. Last night, after restarting to OSX 10.7, my data partition(not time machine) loads fine, but the other partition of the same HD that i use for time machine refuses to mount.
    It shows up in Disk Utility as a greyed out name 'disk1s3' but i origionally named the partition 'Story Time Machine'. The greyed out partition shows up as 500gb, which is correct, but it says its formatted as FAT32. In windows, it says its formatted HFS.
    I've tried running Disk Repair both in OSX and in recovery mode. I ran a checksum on the drive and it came back fine.
    Any suggestions?

    It could be a problem with enclosure, but it also could be a problem with the drive itself or the drive is possibly corrupted. I would start by contacting WD tech support.
    It may be possible to recover files from the drive using file recovery software:
    General File Recovery
    If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as MAC Data Recovery, Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro.  Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive.  Two free alternatives are Disk Drill and TestDisk.  Look for them and demos at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads. Recovery software usually provide trial versions that enable you to determine if the software would help before actually paying for it. Beyond this or if the drive has completely failed, then you would need to send the drive to a recovery service which is very expensive.
    The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.
    Also visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on Data Recovery.
    Otherwise, unless the drive fixes itself like before you should try repartitioning and reformatting to determine if the drive has failed or is now working properly.

  • Imovie - will record and worked fine yesterday but now.....

    Ok I have problems with the fliker on my macbook. So I had to reload the hwole system. Now the display screen in imovie doesnt work, or the audio and i am working on a project that worked absolutley fine yesterday. I can record with the isight on my macbook, I cant watch or hear it, its just a white screen. Thats it, i can see my recorded files, butu they wont play back nothing. Its worrying!
    Please help me.

    Yep all the updates and restarted it. It has actually taken 3- 4 hours hours to get back on to macbook! VERY annoying. Its took that long to load!!!!! seriously!!! I had to put on the OS again! all the updates are on again except I cant use my tunes music now in imovie which stinks i have to re-authorise the account and its still doesnt work. In fact i have apprently got it authorised on 4 other computers!! How? its should only be 2!?!
    imovie is kinda working now, but nothing else is typical. Its sod law lol
    I think its no good. I had to start up the OS orginally because of a darn screen flicker which is still there. I think the logic board is gone. I was onto apple yesterday for an hour and they were very helpful, but its just no good. I am waiting for my new back up hard-drive backing up everything! Then send it off for repairs. I feel I am oing to lose eveything if I switch this off again. And to add to problems itunes is acting up... great!

  • External links won't work once published

    Hi, I'm self taught so don't always understand everything and I'm a complete novice with iWeb, used Front Page before getting a Mac.
    I'm in the process of building a new website using iWeb and I'm having problems with getting links to external pages to work.  They work fine in iWeb.  'Enable as a hyperlink' and 'make hyperlinks active' is ticked for all links.  I've formatted the links to be coloured red, then orange when visited and blue with an underline on roll over, grey if disabled. All works fine in iWeb but then when I publish the links won't work.  They will momentarily and then they won't.  If I refresh the page then one or two will work but when you go back to the page they won't work again.  I've deleted them all and redone them, still the same problem.  Tried it in Safari and Firefox, same problem.  Deleted the site from the server and republished, same problem.  Anyone got any ideas?
    On the page in question I have a widget to SkyScanner, thought that was maybe causing a conflict.  Deleted it and republished, same problem.
    Here's a link to the page I'm having problems with http://www.marbella-rentals.co.uk/MarbellaRentals/flights.html and it's the links to airlines on the right that I can't get to work.
    Also I have another couple of questions.  How do you resample images?  I have used a background image on the pages and I've managed to get it to stay static by altering the code slightly but don't know how to resample it so that the page will load quickly.  Ditto with all the rest of my images.  Don't want to have to resize them all manually if possible.  Also, with the background image I don't know what size I should make it if I was to do it manually.
    Last question... How do you change the title of your page and add a favicon?
    If anyone can help me would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    You have an image covering some of the hyperlinks - GraphPaper_01_3.png
    Do a Command A on the iWeb page to find it.
    Your background image seems to load OK. Use an optimizer to to get it and the whole site to download faster...

    Yes, it will do a full backup.
    and if so, do I really need all the old backups on my smaller external drive?
    Only if you want to be able to go back in time to those previous Time Machine backups.  When you plug in the new larger external drive, you will only be able to go back as far as the first day you plugged it in and ran the first Time Machine backup on it.

  • Color shift in external monitor during playback

    Hello,
    I've been having an issue recently with HD playback to my external monitor. This is happening both in 720 and 1080 timelines. When playback is stopped, the image color looks correct both on the Mac and on the external monitor. But when I play the timeline, there is a slight color shift in the external monitor towards green. This color shift does not happen on the mac monitor during playback. This happens with rendered media, as well as media direct from the clip that does not need rendering. Exported videos do not have this issue. Any idea what may be happening?
    I have a Mac Pro, 2.66 Quad with 8GB Memory. With Kona3 card connected to a Panasonic BT-LH2600W HD monitor. Kona3 is connected to monitor via HD-SDI. With Final Cut Pro 6.06 and Mac OS 10.5.8.

    Type of footage you are using? What sort of hard drives it is stored on? Those would be good details to have too.

    The new iMacs do not come with a MiniDisplayPort, they have Thunderbolt, so unless you are talking about purchasing one of the previous generation iMacs such as this refurbished model in the online Apple store, it won't work. And yes, if you are going to get the full range of video resolutions you will need the Dual-Link version.
    For details see the store's web page on the Dual-Link display adapter.

  • External drive won't mount after plugging in iPhone - MacBook 13'' (2,1)

    Hi Support Crew...
    I have a 13" MacBook(2,1) running OS X 10.6.2. This is a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo machine w/ 4 GB RAM & 320 GB hard drive.
    Today, I had the Iomega drive plugged in via USB, along with my soundcard (MOTU 828mk2) plugged in via FW. This is a very normal setup for me which has been bug free since I bought this computer over 2 years ago. When I plugged in my iPhone 3G via USB I got an error message which comes up when you incorrectly remove a device. This was strange because I didn't unplug anything, I only plugged in the iPhone. The iPhone was playing music when I plugged it in and I had to unplug and plug is back in to get iTunes to recognize it.
    Ever since this happened, my Iomega external drive won't mount. I am able to access it via Disk Utility (and ran the Verify Disk/Repair Disk - everything is "ok"), however I can't access the data on the drive. I really really need the data but of course can't access it to backup.

    When I tried to run Migration Assistant, I just get the spinning search circle and none of the drives come up, just endless searching.
    The fact that I got the "Improperly removed device" error when I plugged in the iPhone makes me think something weird is up and it's not actually the external drive. There is clicking/whining/noise, the drives powers up fine and is recognized by the system but the mount point is now "not mounted".
    Does anyone have any idea how to fix? If you live in SF, I will buy you a beer.

    I meant to say; "There are NO clicking/whining/noise sounds made by the external hard drive"

  • External speaker won't work

    I have a BlackBerry Curve 8310 and the external speaker won't work. I don't get any notification of calls, texts, etc. I had a new external speaker put in but that didn't fix the problem. Anybody have any ideas of what else could be wrong? My phone is no longer under warranty, so AT&T will not replace my phone.

    The same thing happened to me. Go to Applications and then the Utilities Folder and then open the Audio Midi Setup app. Make sure the default output and system output are set to the built in output. The same symptoms happened to me when I ad reset those options to an aggregate device I created for some simple music production. Setting the above setting back to the defaults made everything better.

  • External microphone won't work on Macbook Pro

    My external microphone won't work on my Macbook Pro.
    My mic is an SE2200 A, and I'm pluggin that into a Behringer Eurorack UB802 (with Phantom power). This is then connected to a 1/4 inch to 3.5mm adapter so I can plug it into my Macbook Pro.
    If I plug this directly into my Macbook Pro into the headphone socket (which I've been told doubles up as a mic socket), and go to Settings -> Sound -> Input, the mic does not appear on screen at all.
    If I plug it into a 3.5mm to USB adapter, and plug it into a USB port on my mac, then the USB PnP Sound Device appears on the Settings -> Sound -> Input, but no sound is picked up.
    Could any suggest why this isn't working?
    thanks

    You have to use a cable that will break out the 3.5 mm TRRS jack into mic, L, and R.
    I haven't found the right wiring yet and the cables I have tried don't seem to work.
    See this post: What is the wiring digram on the MacBook Pro 3.5 mm TRRS jack?

  • WD External drive won't mount

    Hello everyone! I haven't been here in a while because I just haven't had any Mac issues. Now I do.
    I have a 1 TB WD external HD that won't mount. I connect it via firewire to an Old G4 Sawtooth running OS 10.5.8. My mac sees the drive, it just won't mount. I've also tried to mount it via USB, but again, my system sees the drive, but won't mount it. I inadvertantly disconnected the firewire cable, which I didn't realize for several hours. I reattached the cable, tried to mount it, and nothing. I ran disc repairs, and Disc Utility actually told me the drive was successfully repaired. Again I tried to remount it, but nothing. I repaired permissions, and this didn't work. I've tried different cables, and this doesn't work.
    I don't have another Mac to connect it to, so I don't know if this would work. Here's where things get a little wierd, but interesting. I connected it to my PC laptop, and it mounted. Now, this is a drive that was formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) on my G4, so I have to use Mac Drive so my PC will recognize and mount The Drive. So My PC sees The Drive as Mac OS Extended, and mounts it. All files are in tact, and the drive runs normally. This is a music drive and it plays normally on my PC. Meanwhile, if I try connecting it back on My Mac, the name of The Drive randomly changes from 931.5 GB WD to 931.5 GB WD My Media Book. I believe My Media Book is the factory name of The Drive before OS formatting. The Volume name remains the same on my G4 each time I've tried to mount it.
    I do have another identical drive that mounts from all the bus ports on my G4. Any ideas here? Can I get my Drive to begin mounting on my G4 again? Any and all answers are appreciated.

    Terminal List. disk4 is the malfunctioning drive.

    I've read that WD uses crappy chipsets in their external drives. I'm wondering if the chipset is suspect here? Just not sure. I did discover that I can clone the drive from my PC as an exact Mac OS Extended (Journaled) drive, and my Mac doesn't even know the difference. I've also read that I can initialize the drive, and reinsert the drivers, and the drive should function normally. Interesting, huh? Well, let me know what you come up with BDAqua. And again, many, many thanks.

  • External HD won't mount on PB

    External HD won't mount on PB but, will on iBook, G5 iMac, MBP, and Mirror Door G4. I have a USB 2 HD that will mount on everything but 15" Aluminum PowerBook. I even tried updating the IOUSBFamily.kext but no luck that just made my camera to start working with my PB. When I plug in my HD the LED just blinks back and forth orange and green instead of Blinking orange and turning a solid green when connected.
    Any sugestions?

    In reply to arnie: Good tips!
    I'll just add - booting holding "AppleOption+OF" boots into open firmware. I've never booted into this mode (on purpose...) but it seems to be (correct me if I'm wrong) a unix interface to OS X. Just make sure to type the commands EXACTLY. Unix is much pickier than OS X.
    I've heard problems like this before - usually with those little bus-powered HDDs and Powerbooks. It's something to do with the amount of power the Powerbook puts out, although it should be the standard 500 mA that the USB 2 specs require. This can happen with firewire, however. If there's a power cord, use it.
    You might try plugging the drive into a self-powered USB 2 Hub - one with a cord that plugs into an AC wall socket, then connect it to the Powerbook. If the Powerbook recognizes the drive, then it probably needs extra power.
    Good luck

  • External keypad won't work after installing OS 7.

    External keypad won't work after installing OS 7. I have a "Zagg" keyboard that won't pair now to OS 7,...Why?

    They do work. I have one and mine is working. Have you tried to reset your iPad? HOlding down teh sleep and home keys until it reboots then try pairing again.
    A slightly more drastic thing is to go into the settings and reset all settings. THe downside, you will need to retweak your device but it can help fix keyboard glitches.

  • External Authentication won't correctly set USER name or Role

    I am using JAVA under Google App Engine for my backend and attempting to log a user into a room using external authentication. I can connect and get into the room just fine my issue is with the user infomation once I am logged in. The user has a null username and ID (possibly generated) and thier role is set to zero (or at least not high enough to publish). If the room is set to auto-Promote then I do have the ability to publish (this is what I would expect) but still I needed the user to have a role of owner (so they can create nodes).
    Here is a little of the java on the back end (I removed my shared secret):
    public String getRoomToken(String roomID, String userName, String userID, int userRole)      {
               try {
                             Session session = am.getSession(roomID);
                 return session.getAuthenticationToken(..., "Bob", "TestID", 100);
                             //return session.getAuthenticationToken(..., userName, userID, userRole);
                          } catch (Exception e) {
                   // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                                   e.printStackTrace();
                        return null;
    getAuthenticationToken is hardely changed from what is in the AFCS.java in the examples folder but here it is in any case
    /**      * get an external authentication token      */
    public String getAuthenticationToken(String accountSecret, String name, String id, int role) throws Exception
         if (role < UserRole.NONE || role > UserRole.OWNER)
             throw new Error("invalid-role");
            String token = "x:" + name + "::" + this.account
             + ":" + id + ":" + this.room + ":"+ Integer.toString(role);
            String signed = token + ":" + sign(accountSecret, token);
            // unencoded
                   //String ext = "ext=" + signed;
                   // encoded
           String ext = "exx=" + Utils.base64(signed);
           return ext;
    This should work. My Shared secret is removed above but I doubt that is the problem as my app does authenticate just fine it just throws an exception telling me I don't have the required permissions to publish when I try to do anything. while observing from the DevConsole I see a user in the room but they are marked as null. Note that non-external authentication works just fine. If I hardcode my login creds in AdobeHSAuthenticator I can get in just fine with no issue. Also if the room I get an authenticationToken for does not match the roomURL I connect to with ConnectSessionContainer I will fail to login correctly like I would expect. So I know my credentials are getting to the AFCS and being decrypted correctly (as I can only authenticate for the room I send in that credential token) but for some reason it simply won't set my role and username/userid correctly.  Any help would be great, this has caused me a great deal of grief for days now...
    Thanks guys...

    Well this is wierd I was trying to set this up so that I could get the log output on that run and I ended up changing
    <rtc:AdobeHSAuthenticator id="auth" authenticationKey="{Application.application.parameters['token'] as String}"/>
    to
    <rtc:AdobeHSAuthenticator id="auth" authenticationKey="{token}"/>
    and adding a preinitialize function of:
    protected function preInit():void
                templateID = Application.application.parameters['room'];
                 token = Application.application.parameters['token'];
    oddly enough it now works like a charm now. It is still disconcerting that I was able to actually enter the room even though my token was somehow corrupted (that probably isn't intened behavior). If this shows up agian I will try and track down the particulars and send you guys an email as an FYI. thanks for the help....
