External HD keeps starting/stopping
I have a 250GB external HD connected to my iMac via firewire, im using just for time machine.
every few mins i can hear it making what sounds like a start up or shut down noise. I cant remember it
being like this before.
anyone know whats going on?
Does it happen every couple of minutes, or about every hour? What brand of External is it? Some external cases have their own power management controllers and are not controlled by the OS. You can try to either select/deselect *System Preferences->Energy Saver->Sleep (tab)->Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible* and see if that helps.

Hi,
I have been looking at the blog /people/william.li/blog/2006/04/18/dynamic-configuration-of-some-communication-channel-parameters-using-message-mapping to see how this is done. I can see from the blog that a PI interface has been developed.
I have ran the URL in a browser and get a 'Website cannot be displayed' error. I do not know what the cause of this is, whether the browser cannot parse the response, or the webservice is not called correctly. Could this problem be occuring if I do not have the relevant auth.
Is it possible to execute the URL directly from ABAP. Has anyone been able to do it. I presume this webservice does not have to be calledd via PI.
Is there a blog or anything other document which describes how this interface (with dynamic URL recevier) is configured in PI. I have searched and cannot find anything.

If your requirement is to Start/ Stop XI channels externally, do the following:
1. Select the specific channel in communication channel monitoring.
2. Select External Control On for this channel.
3. Use the following URL for accessing the channel based on what operation you need to perform:
a) START: http://<host>:<port>/AdapterFramework/ChannelAdminServlet?party=<Party Name>&service=<Service Name>&channel=<Channel Name>&action=start
b) STOP: http://<host>:<port>/AdapterFramework/ChannelAdminServlet?party=<Party Name>&service=<Service Name>&channel=<Channel Name>&action=stop
c) STATUS: http://<host>:<port>/AdapterFramework/ChannelAdminServlet?party=<Party Name>&service=<Service Name>&channel=<Channel Name>&action=status
(Keep Party Name blank if there is no party involved in the scenario).

I have installed Premiere Elements 11 from a disc I bought from Amazon. I keeps asking me to re-install or if it does start stops a few minutes after I start a project. I have a windows 8.1 PC. I have tried numerous times to install the program and also to open it as Administrator as suggested by a friend but it still refuses to work. I need direct help from Adobe but don't know how to get to them on this website as they seem to rely on user forums to advise customers.

Transmitting start/stop/play messages to external instruments
How do I get Logic to transmit start/stop/play messages to my external Roland groovebox?
I've tried ticking the "Transmit MMC" in the Synchronization settings but it doesn't seem to work.
Basically what I'm trying to achieve is when I hit play on the Logic transport, the pattern in the groovebox starts.
Cheers for the helpIm totally a newbie, but I had issues controlling my Boss DR-880 and had success enabling the Sychronization -> Midi -> Destination 1 checkbox. The dropdown is set to all.
It doesn't seem to matter whether Transmit MTC is checked or not.

How do I eliminate this glitch? Music spontaneously starts, stops, stutters at random and I'm not even using that app. Repeated attempts to pause the song and close the app have no affect. Just keeps popping on and off randomly no matter what I'm doing at the time. I tried double-clicking the Home button which brings up all of the active apps, touched and held the Music icon until all the icons started wiggling, tapped the Close icon in the upper left corner of the Music app to close the app completely, but the app is still open and still randomly stuttering. I did notice that the play button icon flashes in the upper right corner of the screen when this happens and it appears and disappears in concurrence with the Music app stuttering. When the music starts, the icon appears and when it stops, the icon disappears again. When the music stutters on and off, the icon appears and disappears rapidly and in sync with that random glitch. This just started today for no apparent reason. I turned the iPad off, waited 30 seconds and turned it back on. As soon as it was finished starting up, the same music glitch began again immediately. I'm using iOS 6.1.3.
Well, no one seems to have any answers or ideas for me, I'll update what I've been able to accomplish.
I reloaded all 14 disks in the time frame of watching Lord of the Rings on Fri. nite.
Funny thing is, the first disk pulled the info from the online store! Hooray!
Wait-then all the next 13 could find no information online...what the heck is up with that? So I MANUALLY assign each disk a new track # to co-inside with each disk, spent about 2 hours doing that.
But still, itunes tells me my playlist is too large, there's not enough space on the ipod. so I unchecked 1 1/2 disks (I'd listen to 1/2 of disk 1 previously) and voila! there's my ipod full of my book. Finally. But what a lot of bother just to keep things in order! -

My Mac keeps starting up to the disk utilities screen. Im guessing i need to repair the disk or load my backed up memory but i am unsure of how to do that. I have all my memory backed up on an external hard drive.
The Disk Utility screen has instructions right on it.
Just read them and follow the directions.

It opens with something like, "select a disk, volume, or image".
You click on your drive in the left column, top item.
The next screen spells out how to do a ( Repair Disk ).
You have a Macintosh. It will not cut your hand off.
If something dangerous is coming, it will say stuff like, "this will erase all the data on your drive. Do you want to proceed?" -
ITunes keeps starting automatically
iTunes keeps starting automatically on my Macbook Air. When I quit iTunes it just restarts again within about 2 minutes. I have checked my Dashboard widgets and there is nothing there related to iTunes. It's unclear what has triggered this and it's VERY annoying.
How can I stop it doing this?Was having the same problem but seemed to have solved it. Did the following:
1. Went into CDs and DVDs prefs and set when you insert a music CD and picture CD to ignore
2. Went into iTunes -> prefs -> Devices and unchecked "Look for remote speakers connected with Airtunes" and "Look for iPhone and iPod touch Remotes"
3. Installed Lingon (http://lingon.sourceforge.net/) and checked all my startup processes and Daemons. Found some old things like MySQL trying to launch (even though web sharing is off) and an old Maxtor one touch driver and disabled the processes or removed them.
4. Checked the console log to be sure nothing else was running or creating an error that I didn't need anymore.
I apologize that I can't say what solved it, but aside from the prefs in the apps, it may have been an old piece of software (like my old Maxtor drive) that was still trying to run that may have been triggering itunes.

Hello.
I have a simple button loading up an external swf in a empty
movie clip.
The external swf is just an image that has the fade in
transition on it in the beginning and then it stops (via
actionscript). Once it stops, you see the image.
The external swf works fine by itself and it stops properly.
However, if I try to load it up via an empty movie clip via a
button the movie is loaded but it keeps playing the movie over and
over. I am guessing I need a stop(); somehwere but I tried every
possible location.
Any ideas why my external swf keeps looping?
I even made sure that the external swf is only repeating
once.
I hope someone has an idea. I am sure the solution is
simple!!

Suppose ur Database resides on X machine
and u want to do remote login from y or z ,
follow the conditions and steps below
1) You need to install servermanager utility in ur remote machine
2)then u need to run orapwd.exe utility on ur remote machine with following command
"orapwd file=<full path name where u want to keep ur password file > password=<password> entries=<no of DBAs u want that password file to be accessed by>"
after this u need to change Parameter in initialisation file , u will find one entry called "REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE=NONE" u have to change it to " REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE=EXCLUSIVE" u can also control multiple dabases from this same password file for that u will have to change above entry to REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE=SHARED,after this
u need to pass following command "ALTER USER SYS IDENTIFIED BY <PASSWORD U LIKE > "
this will change the password of both INTERNAL and SYS, now if u want to give multiple user access to this file then simply u grant two roles to them "ALTER SYSTEM GRANT SYSOPER,SYSDBA TO <USERNAME>" (INTERNAL AND SYS have these roles by default) this will add that user to that file now that user can also go to servermanager.Now u can Connect with any of the user which u have added in passwordfile in ur machine, and can remotely start or stop database with following Commands "STARTUP" "SHUTDOWN" respectively

1)Location of password file is OS specific
2)if ur using windows then u need to remove one entry in registry "DBA_AUTHORISATION =''

Since updating my iPad to iOS5 itunes keeps starting up and I close it and just randomly starts up again after a few minuets or so, how do I stop it.
I know the iPad sync's wirelessly with iTunes but when I close it I expect it to stay closed, I actually feel like unistalling iTunes as its so irratating.I think it may be because your ipad/iphone is turned on, as now it sync's wirelessly. So if it's (ipad/iphone) turned on it assumes you want to work with it.

I've just used an external drive to back up my Mac with Time Machine. I have Lion, but didn't click and check the "Encrypt Backup Disc". What should I do? Can I delete the external drive and start again, or can I encrypt later?
I guess if stolen or lost it would protect my "stuff", and if I'm travelling would protect my privacy.
You must understand the purpose and implications of encryption before deciding whether to use it.
Encryption locks your data with a password. If you forget that password, the data is lost beyond any chance of recovery. Neither Apple nor anyone else will be able to help you recover that data if you don't know the password.
By the same token, the password must be strong enough to provide the security you want. For example, if you're the potential target of industrial espionage by a government or large corporation, you need the strongest possible password. To create and manage such a password safely is a task in itself, not to be undertaken lightly.
If you're only concerned about casual snooping by someone with no special skill, a weak, easily-remembered password is appropriate.
But regardless of the strength of the password, if you lose it, the data is gone forever.
Another point to remember is that if you encrypt your data on one storage device, you must also encrypt it on all other storage devices that would be accessible to the same attacker. Otherwise the data isn't protected. For example, if you keep your computer and your backup drive in the same room, and the internal drive of the computer is not encrypted, then there's no point in encrypting the backup drive.
